## Elastic Stack Reviews
  ### 1. Probably the best database for search

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Varun D. | Associate Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2017

**What do you like best about Elastic Stack?**

Database exposed as a REST service! Seriously. Working with elasticsearch is so easy and fantastic experience. You get so many features out of the box - like full text search, document custom scoring, suggestions, results highlighting etc. And that's just tip of the iceberg. There are so many pluging like logstash and kibana for displaying metrics and logging. Also it is highly scalable.

**What do you dislike about Elastic Stack?**

There's not much control over consistency of your data; if you want to see your data in some particular format - you might need to index it in a predefined way. Elasticsearch's query DSL is less normal and less adaptable than PostgresSQL's SQL. By default everything is indexed, which might create index overhead depending on your database schema. You would need to understand some terms, like tokenizers and analyzers in order to get to know how to properly query your data and how the data is stored in the index.

**Recommendations to others considering Elastic Stack:**

Knowledge in cURL would be required before jumping to Elasticsearch

**What problems is Elastic Stack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are heavily dependent on Elasticsearch for our Business metrics telemetry data. We also use different plugins like Kibana, Logstash, Timelion for getting the data in different forms according to specific needs. It is probably the best tool available for fetching and viewing the data in real time.

  ### 2. Steep learning curve but it’s worth it

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Elastic Stack?**

I’m an analyst, and Kibana helps me visualize the data I need in order to do my job well. It’s completely customizable.

**What do you dislike about Elastic Stack?**

It takes some “coding” savvy to use Kibana. You have to learn the program’s language to get what you want out of it.

**What problems is Elastic Stack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to see data trends on prices, and thus decide the best time to sell our products.

  ### 3. Beautiful visualizations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marielle Lynn N. | Central Planning Intern, Retail, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Elastic Stack?**

Once the data is collected, there are endless ways to visualize your data.

**What do you dislike about Elastic Stack?**

Sometimes it was a little glitchy, but the good definitely outweighs the bad.

**Recommendations to others considering Elastic Stack:**

Worth the investment in using Elastic for data collection. You can create amazing dashboards with the software within Kibana or in external interfaces.

**What problems is Elastic Stack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped us to create heatmaps, show popular terms, and analyze user popularity with our data. It was fantastic.

  ### 4. Elastic search

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Elastic Stack?**

Easy to integrate with other applications. Kibana for visualization provides so many options to work over elastic search data.

**What do you dislike about Elastic Stack?**

The setup looks a bit complicated with too many confusing terms like index, id, document, etc.

**What problems is Elastic Stack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using elastic search to dump the output from my big data projects. The analyses data is later used in kibana for visualization

  ### 5. Suitable for basic reports on elastic search data source

It has the best interface to browse throw stream of logs. I've tried some commercial tools: Loggly, Papertrail and Logentries but I've switched back to stack Kibana + Logstash.

**What do you dislike about Elastic Stack?**

I don't like that configuration format has been changed several times.
I would like to have interface to configure the Logstash plugins and settings in the Kibana interface.

You are able to do the most interesting reports for you by yourself.

**What problems is Elastic Stack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've visibility of all my running services. http://12factor.net/logs

  ### 8. very powerful but steep learning curve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2016

**What do you like best about Elastic Stack?**

It is a very powerful and flexible tool that enables search and retrieval very efficiently on commodity clusters. Text search is very flexible and customizable, which allows for almost any use cases you can think of.

**What do you dislike about Elastic Stack?**

The query language is complicated and not particularly intuitive (too many levels JSON nesting). Further, the native API is not very well documented and difficult to use. Given the flexibility and power of the software, this is to be expected, but more examples and use cases would be very helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Elastic Stack:**

Be prepared for a steep learning curve.

**What problems is Elastic Stack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketing analytics. Elasticsearch allow efficient storage, search and retrieval of logs, analytics data and raw text content.

**What do you dislike about Elastic Stack?**

Can be hard to debug even with plugins such as kopf. High hardware requirements to run efficiently.

**Recommendations to others considering Elastic Stack:**

Powerful but consider options requiring less hardware to run before committing to the cost and complexity of supporting it.

**What problems is Elastic Stack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to perform
