## About SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)
SciSure is a Scientific Management Platform (SMP) designed to unify research, safety, compliance, training, and lab operations in a single, integrated digital environment. Formed through the merger of eLabNext and SciShield, SciSure combines lab digitalization (ELN and LIMS) with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) expertise to support modern scientific organizations. **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David K. | Postdoctoral Research Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

eLabNext is very good at opening the use up to using every feature in a way that works for them, thereby being easily implemented into existing workflows.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

The user interface could be more navigable. It's quite stripped down and counter-intuitive, so creates a learning curve for new users.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have digitised our lab inventory, which has been needed for a long time. This helps us reduce waste and keep an eye on usage and cost. We've also been able to improve data management, making it easier for us to access specific data when we need it.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear that you find eLabNext customizable and easily implemented into your workflows. We appreciate your input on the user interface and will take it into consideration for future improvements.

 ### 3. Organize Madness!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I really like how easy it is to keep track of experiments and stay organized. It’s super helpful being able to add templates, protocols, and notes all in one place. Sharing work with teammates is simple, and it makes staying on top of things way less stressful.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

It took a little while to figure everything out at first, and it’s not always the smoothest with big files. The mobile version doesn’t do as much as the desktop one, which can be annoying when I’m not at my computer. Some tools feel a bit clunky too.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me stay organized and cuts down on time spent looking for old notes or files. Having everything in one place—protocols, results, and samples—makes it way easier to keep my work consistent and repeatable. It’s also made teamwork smoother since we can all access the same data live.

Its easy to pick up even if youre not familiar with electronics.
There are different things in one platform so you dont have to switch between tools, for example protocols and samples etc.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

The cost is a bit high, it can be a little expensive for smaller labs.
You need stable internet connection to work so offline work is not a choice.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

eLabNext solves the problem of scattered data by centralizing experiments, samples, and inventory in one system. It saves me time, improves collaboration with my team, and keeps everything organized without extra effort.

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

What i like about eLab is that you can make and study/experiment without having alot of time or energy waste by making your layup

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Something thats benefiting me from eLab is that i can add people to my experiment. Whenever i make up an elab for my experiment i can add my coach in aswell so she can give me advise tips tops and feedback overal. This is good because i could adjust my eLab and improve my experiment without having to have a physical coversation.

I like that I can import protocols in the experiments and the automatic calculations that can be done with them

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

The inventory system: the division in samples and supply... the way they are linked (or not).
The sample/catalogue configuration.
Equipment configuration missing important fields (serial n°..) that has to added each time.

 ### 11. A new/better way to organize your research

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Pablo F. | Research associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

The easy way to organize and electronically store the samples. It has been easy to implement, and we have been using it once we are back in the laboratory and even during the fieldwork.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

It can be complicated for someone who has no experience processing samples and its derivates such as blood, serum, treated serum, etc. However, once the foundations are understood these features are easy to integrate.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organize and store biological samples that are being used by multiple researchers.

 ### 13. Experience using ELab

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isabelle S. | Student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I like that eLab provides an easy way to collaborate and share information within a group. It is also helpful for accessing class protocols and other pertinent information.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I am unsure if this was based on how our instructors set up our eLab but at times, it was difficult to find things because the tabs were a bit unclear and vague (my journal vs lab journal, etc). Adding more descriptive tab titles would be beneficial

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me organize lab information with ease while also helping me collaborate with others.

 ### 14. Highly customizable eLAB solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

The customizable nature of the platform was very appealing to us, as we wanted to integrate our inventory and ordering through eLAB. The capability for inventory management and traceability of samples were key criteria in our selection of eLAB over other options. Its full ISO certification allows for complete tracking and auditing of protocols, in addition to offering different levels of access (view only, edit, manager sign-off). This structure enhances the traceability and peer review of records. Full support during the implementation via regular calls with the team helped us to shape the structure that suited to our needs. The platform itself is also highly intiutive and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

We are just beginning to use eLAB and have not yet explored all of its functionalities in a real-world setting. So far, we haven't encountered any significant issues.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking and recording the sample journey with full inventory info attached, entirely cloud based making it very easy to access from anywhere. Keeping all the experimental records in an organised and auditable manner

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> We're thrilled to hear that you find our platform highly customizable and intuitive to use. Our team is dedicated to providing full support during implementation and ensuring that the platform meets your specific needs.

 ### 15. The New Features of eLabNext

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshlyn M. | Research Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Not applicable. It is relatively convenient.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

It is somewhat convenient. It is not easy to navigate, especially when using their laboratory notebook.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems that I was aware of previously was accessing sample inventory. With the recent updates to the site, there are less "clicking" in finding a specific sample on the sample list.

 ### 16. Easily the best inventory system I've used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey P. | Research Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2024

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Going through thousands of samples can be a nightmare without the right organizational tools and ability to browse the existing archive. I can find exactly where everything is and when it was placed there, along with its history of shipment, and make quick adjustments to incorrectly labelled samples. The interface is fairly straight-forward and extensive. The barcode import/automation feature is perfect for my job and dealing with a large volume of samples. The inventory system is perfect for keeping track of all existing storage units.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

It can get tricky with a faulty barcode or when finding samples of a similar type / from the same donor where corrections need to be made. It was also difficult to learn how to use the software initially, but for the most part it's a good user-interface.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I mostly process and inventory samples and frequently have to backtrack and correct certain mistakes, which this software definitely enables me to do without giving me a headache. I rely on this system.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Hi Jeffrey, thank you for sharing your positive experience with our platform!
We're glad to hear that the interface, barcode import/automation feature, and inventory system have been beneficial for your work.

We understand the challenges you've faced with faulty barcodes and similar samples, and we're continuously working to enhance the user experience.

 ### 17. Great LIMS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

We like that the system is user-friendly. We were able to start working just in a few days, without reading tons of manuals. The system is powerful and cover all our needs.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I think label printing setup could be easier. We had to write our own custom template using ZPL language which I didn't know before. It's not a complicated thing for a software developer, but WYSIWYG editor is nice to have, especially if you need to have multiple templates. Also it would be nice to have a self-hosted system.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

eLab is a core software in our lab. It handles all samples, experiments and protocols.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Thank you for your feedback! We're pleased that eLabNext has been able to meet your lab's needs. We appreciate your input on the label printing setup and will explore ways to enhance this feature in the future.

 ### 18. Boon for Organization and Collaboration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sidney A. | Genomic Molecular Technician, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I enjoy using eLabJournal primarily as a secondary location for storing data on experiments and projects. Transferring data from my lab notebook to the eLab notebook helps me catch errors and inconsistencies that I might otherwise miss and not notice until months later. It also makes it easier to share data between colleagues; not only is there a virtual space where we can all access the same information, but they are not limited by messy handwriting, confusing shorthand, or unhelpful notes that might be found in a physical lab notebook.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Setting up projects/experiments is a tedious task if you wish to be thorough in the information you provide. It is also a pain to edit sections because you need to save and exit each section before moving on to the next. This makes quick corrections or changes difficult and, in some cases, irritating. It is also overwhelming for first-time users and navigation requires some time to get familiar with.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps with sharing information across coworkers and between laboratories.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Hi Sidney,

Thank you for sharing your experience with our platform. We appreciate your positive feedback on how it has improved collaboration and organization in your work.

We understand the challenges you've mentioned with setting up projects and navigating the platform. To speed up your experiment process, we recommend using experiment (https://support.elabnext.com/hc/en-us/articles/15047988920988-Experiment-Templates) or study templates (https://support.elabnext.com/hc/en-us/articles/14283362324508-Study-Template-Add-on).

We don't have an Autosave function for compliance reasons. The Audit Trail is important in our software, and having an Autosave function would disrupt this.

 ### 19. Developing into an excellent product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neil D. | Lab manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Our lab is currently has only a basic usage of ELab Journal as we are in the process of digitizing samples already held. However we do recognise the potential for our lab users as well as being able to use it in cooperating with lab members working thousands of miles from the main lab.
Customer support is also important to us in that we may require answers to questions quickly and in this respect we have not been disappointed.
Personally I use Elab Journal practically every day for some aspect of my role and find it in general very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

So far there have not been many things to dislike and only two come to mind. I would like to be able to change a sample type without removing it and reentering . The other is printing, currently we use third party software for our label printing but would prefer that we could print directly to our label printer without having to write code for it.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

being able to log existing samples onto the database and create custom containers in the inventory

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Hi Neil, thank you for sharing your experience with eLabNext! We're pleased to hear that our customer support has been helpful.

We appreciate your feedback about the sample type change and will take this into consideration for future improvements.

Regarding label printing, we understand wanting to print directly. Our ZPL integration does require writing code, but it has some ready-to-use templates.
If you would like a plug-and-play option, we offer an integration with FLUICS printers.

 ### 20. Great for Collaboration, But Interface Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Not a very user friendly interface unfortunately

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration among teammates

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with SciSure.
We understand the importance of a user-friendly interface and will work on enhancing the platform for a better user experience.

 ### 21. My experience of using eLabNext for a bit over a year

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verena K. | Coordinator for Forskaraspiranterna, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

eLabNext allows me to ensure a useful inventory, every member is able to find all chemicals. I can additionally use barcodes that can be scanned with the phone app. My group members are now more efficient and spend less time searching for inventory and can use templates for their lab notes - which makes it very efficient and reproducible

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Some of my students need a longer time to learn how to use it. I would also appreciate the mobile version to be more complete

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

reproducibility and effectivity - it makes my lab be faster and we spend less time searching for inventory

 ### 22. E-lab journal can be confusing to use at first because of all the different sections.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Import and Export | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I like the organization aspect of it, I think it’s a good tool for storing lab entries and collating with your partners.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I dislike that it takes a while to get used to, such as understanding where everything is and how to upload certain entries.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s solving having to continuously share documents with my group members. In eLab we all have access to the notes and are able to go back and edit them.

 ### 23. eLab review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren T. | Student, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I like that we can easily and continously edit our entries without issues. I also like that I can collaborate with my teamates. I also like how protocols are always available for me to use.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

My teammates and I can't be working on the same document together, at the same time.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not helping solve problems- it acts like a notebook to me.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Hi Lauren, thank you for sharing your positive experience with eLabNext. We're happy to hear that you find the platform user-friendly and that it supports collaboration with your teammates. We understand that it can be frustrating not to be able to work on the same document at the same time. However, simultaneous edits are not possible because we must log every user action to comply with GLP standards.

 ### 24. Acceptable but clunky

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francesco C. | Senior Scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

The customizable and movable experiment sections are pretty good

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

1. Navigation is counter intuitive and complicated

 ### 29. good product and easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dakai M. | Scientist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

You can easily add diifrent sections and upload all kinds of format of the data to the section

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I wish all the changes can be saved automaticly so I don't have to click save button again and again

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to use writing notebook. By switching to ELN, everything is much easier now. You can directly upload your data to your notebook without printing it out and paste on your paper notebook. It is also easier to back track the experiments that were finished in the past.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Thank you for your positive feedback!

We understand the convenience of automatic saving. There is no autosave function because maintaining traceability and versioning in the audit trail is crucial for compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and FDA regulations. An autosave function would create excessive versions and changes, which could clutter the audit trail and make it more difficult to use effectively.

 ### 30. Lab work was organized, clear, and accessible.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2025

I liked how all lab protocols were easily accessible and able to be reviewed inside the lab notebook.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

One thing that was slightly inconvenient is that other group members were not able to view edits in real time, it had to be saved, then completed, and then another member could see the changes. Sometimes group members edited the same document at the same time and things got slightly out of order.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

eLabNext is solving the problem of combining all aspects of lab work into one common area. Where mentors, teachers, and group members can all view your work.

 ### 31. Helpful as a lab notebook

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Simple organization- not confusing to navigate and items can be easily categorized into groups.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Main suggestion for elab is to have automatic save feature to prevent large text entries from disappearing if user forgets to press save button.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Elab bridges communication with my team over procedures done on different days and allows for easy organization of ideas with multiple people.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I liked how it was easily shared within the group and could be seen at anytime as soon as the updates were published. I also enjoyed that ability to use past published procedures and add them into my personal notebook.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I didn't like that you can't collaborate on a single note at the same time as another group member. Made it difficult to record findings as a group because only one member had editing access at a time. Additionally the formatting of the notebook was not the most user frieldly

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It aided us in the ability to understand the research topic, record all possible findings and easily access this data at anytime with the ability to open the notebook on personal devices

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Thank you for sharing your experience with eLabNext. We're happy to hear that it aided in understanding the research topic and accessing data easily. We understand your concerns about collaboration. Working on the same file simultaneously is not possible because we must log every user action to adhere to GLP compliance. Regarding notebook formatting, we are currently working on enhancing the user experience.

 ### 35. Works well for our needs with outstanding customer service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2024

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

We use SciShield for our organization's safety data management, and the experience has been positive. The platform is user friendly, with an intuitive interface that makes it easy to organize and access important safety data, enhancing our overall compliance. SciShield enables us to conduct lab inspections, training, and manage chemical inventory all in one place. In particular, the ChemTracker and SDS auto-match functionality has streamlined our processes and significantly cut down the time spent manually searching for and attaching SDSs to chemicals — a game changer for our team.

Furthermore, SciShield's customer service is excellent. The support team is responsive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the setup and implementation process and addressing all our questions and requests promptly.

Overall, SciShield has become an integral part of our safety program. It is a reliable tool for anyone looking to modernize their safety data management.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

While our experience with SciShield has been largely positive, there are some limitations to note.

First, SciShield lacks the ability to customize features. Having the option to tailor the platform to our specific workflows would be invaluable. This flexibility could enhance our overall efficiency.

Additionally, the ChemTracker/SDS auto-match feature, while useful, could benefit from a more comprehensive database. Ensuring that every product in our inventory has an assigned SDS readily available is crucial for maintaining compliance and safety standards.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SciShield has solved our data management and chemical/SDS inventory problem. It provides tools to streamline data collection, storage, and retrieval, saving us time and making it easier to access critical safety information.

The auto-generated emails feature is also very useful.

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

At my job we use eLabJournal, and it's made a huge difference in how we manage our strain inventory. The platform's inventory system is incredibly intuitive, making it easy to catalog and track our strains.
The best part is how you can seamlessly link samples to the protocols and experiments they're used in, which saves us a lot of time and keeps everything well-organized.

Another feature I love is the add-ons that allow you to easily print labels for your samples. This makes the whole process of labeling and identifying samples much quicker and more efficient. Overall, eLabjournal improves our workflow.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I don't like that you can't delete forever a sample, you can only archive it

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of our profress6
Assigning tasks

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with eLabNext! We're glad to hear that our inventory system and sample linking features have been beneficial for your workflow.

We understand your concern about the inability to delete samples permanently. Due to GLP compliance, end-users may not permanently delete samples on their own; however, there is an alternative. Please contact our Customer Success team at support@elabnext.com so they can inform you of your options.

 ### 40. eLab makes working in the lab so much easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

 ### 41. Great Value

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colin H. | ', Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2024

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Compared to custom LIMS software packages that cost several times more, eLabJournal has given our lab access to many great features with their versatile system without overcompication. Though it doesn't seem originally designed for our industry, this system adapts very well, brought easy start-up, and has panned out nicely over time through expansion. Access to help has always been readily available and several feature requests have been fulfilled for us free of charge.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

The only things missing are aspects I wouldn't expect from an internet-based third-party system: integration with our servers, automation, etc.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our complex array of sample and test types need a home for their related information. Test requests and in-process data also live here and provide easy retrieval via the search functions.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with eLabJournal. We are pleased to know that our system has met your laboratory's requirements, and our support team has been helpful.

We would like to inform you that it is indeed possible to communicate with external servers using eLab API. the organization, the serial quantities for a sample, and how it has a bar code

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

How it can become can be a hassle of exiting out of a sample multiple times. Or how you have to click on a sample to see if the numbering is right when doing a certain amount if quantities.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The amount of work it's able to do compared to other software. That yes it does have some benefits but not as much as others.

I appreciate how helpful and quick the eLabNext support team is. They are always quick to respond and never fail to follow up when I have accidently forgotten to reply.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Unfortunately, sometimes eLabNext can be glitchy and doesn't always show the correct page I looked for.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inventory management.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> We're glad to hear that SciSure is benefiting you with inventory management.

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

It is a customizable organization, and after setup, it is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

It could be more customizable and for the price it would be nice to have a technician come out to help with initial setup up.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have not reached out about in problems so far.

 ### 46. Excellent for Data Centralization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2024

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Before using eLabJournal, our data was organized using local harddrives, email servers, and some limited cloud services. Each section of a single experiment would be stored separately (the write up, raw data files, and excel worksheet, images, etc.) due to limitations of the software we were using.

With eLabJournal, our data (raw files, images, videos), analysis, and conclusions are all combined into the experiment write-up, and can be accessed effortlessly by any member of the team who has access to the project. Qualitative data such as images and videos can be stored directly within the report, and with the integrated excel widget the analysis can be updated directly on the eLab site, without the need for a local file.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Use of the software can be overwhelming at times, as the number of features offered in terms of customization (pre-made protocols, user access levels, inventory management) is quite high. When bringing new users onboard, it will take some time for them to adapt to the new method of documentation, especially if they are not tech-savy.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mismatched data storage. With different file types stored in multiple locations information can easily be misplaced. eLabJournal allows us to store all the data for a given experiment in a single, easy to use location.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> We're pleased to hear that our platform has successfully addressed your data centralization needs and improved your team's accessibility!
We appreciate your feedback regarding the learning curve for new users, and we are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and resources to assist with the onboarding process. Please reach out to our support team if you need any onboarding assistance.

 ### 47. Great and easy to use website to document lab work!

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

I like how multiple people can work on the journal entries and that you can see other entries from previous people who have published their work.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

One downfall is if two people are working at once only one can type at a time.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/A

 ### 48. Easy navigation, quick sign-out

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2025

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

It's easy to collaborate, search protocols and add in new data information. Works great in a research setting

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

I am logged out more frequently than I would like and have to spend more time getting to Group protocols instead of it being directly on the homepage.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Designing experiments with classmates. Makes it easy to log notes with direct time stamps and refer back to previous experimental designs.

**Official Response from Olivia Hulst:**

> We're glad to hear that you find eLabNext easy for collaborating and searching for protocols.

To access group protocols more efficiently, we recommend checking the Dashboard section, where the most frequently used protocols are listed. Additionally, we have a Feature Request to personalize the main dashboard. Please reach out to support so we can link it for you.

For log-out timing, this is a group setting. Please consult your Key User to adjust these settings.

 ### 50. eLabJournal for Biology Class at UMN

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2024

**What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

A key feature of eLabJournal is its capability to facilitate note-taking anywhere, even offline, and the convenience of sharing these notes with other researchers once connected to Wi-Fi. This allows me to conduct research in a rural environment, where wifi and internet connection are not frequently found in everyday use cases. The intuitive nature of eLab, particularly its pre-designed page formats, significantly streamlines the process of conducting experiments and collecting data. Customer support is very respectful when diagnosing issues. Overall, I use eLabJournal every other day to do all of the draft writing. Its cross-compatibility also allows me to copy and paste important data and integrate it into Google Docs without any issues.

**What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?**

Some drawbacks of using this platform include:
1. The inability for multiple users to collaborate and write on the same post simultaneously.
2. The user interface appears outdated compared to other free lab journals.
3. Occasionally, the text I have written is not saved, which is very time-consuming to redo.
4. Implementation can also be difficult, as it requires proper training to use all of the features the app offers.

**What problems is SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

eLab simplifies the process of documenting and organizing data into a single file. With specific files on hand, sharing data is as straightforward as assigning permissions, similar to sending an email. It also ensures consistency throughout the experiment since the same format is used each day it's conducted. This allows investigators to efficiently review the overall lab activities.

**Official Response from Marketing Department:**

> Thank you for your thorough review and positive feedback.

Here are our responses to your points:

1. It is not possible to edit the same section of an experiment due to traceability and GLP compliance. It is possible to work on an experiment simultaneously.

2. We are currently working on improving the user interface, which will be completed in waves. For example, our new inventory was just released.

3. Our platform does not have an Autosave function, as it affects Audit Trail tracking. It's important to save your work immediately to prevent lost work.
