What I love about Edsby the most is the focus on the importance of building a platform that works best to engage student learning at the ground floor. Edsby works hard to create a system that makes it easy for teachers, parents, and students to fully immerse themselves in a learning journey and to track and build on each step from start to finish. The evidence of learning is a great tool to track student progress. The ability to capture student voice (audio or video) of a conversation that they are having with another student, or with yourself is fantastic. Being able to then grab observations made and recoded in Evidence and apply it to the report card with a click of a button just enhances the power of the Evidence of Learning feature. Edsby has bolstered its ability for teachers to see student data at a glance. This includes student performance and attendance data. In addition the ability to create self marking quizzes, as well as the ability to stay organized to allow students to hand in assignments allows for the management and organization of student work. I think Edsby is a unique platform. Teachers can use the Grader to evaluate student work, and Edsby's Evidence of Learning is fantastic. Teachers and students can capture their work, reflect on it, attach expectations to it and build out a thorough portfolio of student evidence for authentic assessment. Edsby helps our students, parents, and faculty to connect and communicate about the learning in and outside of the classroom! Edsby has helped staff to share information and student progress or areas for improvement with ease. The Edsby interface is very intuitive, and so allows for ease of access as well. The challenges we have had with Edsby are more on the backside of things - such as when there are "known issues" and the timeliness of things being updated. Also, often there would be new features added that we didn't know about before release so keeping staff up to date and trained on these new features was at times tricky. I like how students can submit work digitally, take online tests that are automatically graded and put into gradebook. I like the ease of inputting marks and changing weightings. There's a glitch in the planner now - I used to be able to create a post there and it would show in my class' newsfeed. It doesn't always show nor copy to my other classes. I wish the student averages would automatically transfer over into their report card so I wouldn't have to manually type them in, but I would like them to remain editable.
