"Great for Organization, But Student Submission Process Needs Improvement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Edsby?

Ease of communication and marking. I like that everything can be in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Edsby?

Students often have difficulty opening assignments that have been copied for them. Often need to open multiple times in order to submit and then they end up with duplicates in their Google Drive. Also, I cannot see student work UNTIL they have submitted. I would like to know where they are at prior to submitting so I can see progress and offer feedback. What do you like best about Edsby?

I like Edsby because of its intuitive web interface and the ability it provides for us to manage our accounts efficiently. The responsiveness of Edsby's support team when we have questions is impressive and greatly appreciated. Our previous systems lacked the functionality that Edsby offers, such as a reliable app for parental access, allowing parents to communicate more effectively with teachers and receive updates on their children’s progress. Its seamless user interface allows for better password management and overall improved user experience. I find the onboarding process to be straightforward, with Edsby's team providing excellent support, ensuring we made necessary system changes while they addressed our unique needs. This level of support and functionality makes Edsby valuable to our organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Edsby?

I think some improvements could be made in Edsby regarding its analytics capabilities. The analytics features seem inadequate, which could limit my ability to work with data comprehensively. Additionally, the grade book functionalities, especially the use of rubrics, could be enhanced. I would like if rubrics could have numerical values, making assessment and grading more versatile and aligned with my specific needs. Overall, there should be better functionality in these areas to maximize efficiency and utility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Dallas Kachan of Edsby

Thanks, Judson for such a thoughtful and detailed review—we’re glad Edsby has made such a meaningful difference for your 9,100-student community. We also appreciate your candid feedback on analytics functionality. We’re actively working on enhancements to give educators more flexibility and deeper insight. Your input helps guide our roadmap, and we’re grateful to partner with you in improving communication, engagement, and day-to-day learning for your staff, students, and families.

"Integrated Solution With Room for Improvement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Edsby?

I appreciate Edsby because it offers a cohesive, integrated platform for managing multiple aspects of school operations such as attendance, gradebooks, messaging, forms, report cards, and daily class updates. This integration is crucial for me, as it eliminates the need to coordinate across various systems and software applications, simplifying my workflow significantly. I find immense value in having everything consolidated into one app, which enhances efficiency and helps maintain focus on teaching rather than administrative tasks. Additionally, the initial setup of Edsby was very easy, which made the transition smooth and efficient. The program's integration with tools like Google Suite also adds to its versatility and practicality in a school environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Edsby?

I find the weighting system for grades somewhat clunky. It's complicated to adjust weightings and get an overview of the weightings for my course in a simplified way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Dallas Kachan of Edsby

Thanks for your perspective, Carina. Glad Edsby simplifies your workday. Re: weighting, ask your internal Edsby support team if they can "model" weightings for you, and in other teachers' gradebooks, going forward. Edsby gradebooks can be set up with your district's desired weightings each year at the beginning of the year through a process called "modelling."

"Edbsy is the best school communication platform available"
5/5
What do you like best about Edsby?

Edsby is intuitive to use and provides as much information about a student's learning environment as seems possible. Parents and students have access to immediate information about the school and the student's progress. Teachers have a wide array of tools at hand to make learning meaningful and accessible for all. There is no better platform out there that I've seen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Edsby?

Sometimes the immediacy of Edsby information is too much. Marks are always there, assignments are always there, and so on. And sometimes kids need to detach and be away from it all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Dallas Kachan of Edsby

Thanks, Kevin. Agreed that students often chase their grades in online systems like Edsby. A good reminder for all of us, parents included, to examine ways to help them remember that education is about more than just #s.

"All-in-One Communication Tool, but Not Always User-Friendly"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Edsby?

It is all encompassing - I can post information as well as send messages to parents and/or students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Edsby?

Not the most user-friendly program. Certain features that are not "working" but no way to know why or how to fix. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Dallas Kachan of Edsby

Glad Edsby is helping consolidate apps for you. If you encounter things that aren't functional, ask your staff in charge of your Edsby system whether there are some aspects that are intentionally not being used by your school or district. Many organizations disable or ignore certain aspects because they want teachers, students and parents to use other official systems of record. If you encounter something you think is actually broken, report it to your Edsby team and they can escalate to us if something indeed needs fixing. There's also "Report a problem" under the question mark icon on your Edsby desktop login or the menu on the Edsby mobile app.

"Enhances Communication, Yet Needs Better Font Clarity"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Edsby?

I absolutely love how Edsby allows me to enter comments that can be accessed by other staff members, enhancing communication and making it easy to keep track of student progress. The journal feature is incredibly beneficial because it keeps students and parents updated on daily lessons, promoting transparency and engagement. I also appreciate the wide variety of groups, which makes it a comprehensive platform for everything from classroom tasks to administrative work. The clarity, organization, and visual aspects such as colors and screen layout are essential features that I find very compelling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Edsby?

As a non-tech person, I found the initial setup challenging. The assessment part was difficult for me to understand, which made me rely on paper comparison to ensure accuracy with my calculations. Occasionally, using the assessment feature becomes cumbersome with large class sizes, as switching screens is required, and the font size can be too small. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Dallas Kachan of Edsby

Thanks for your comments, Lori. Appreciate your enthusiasm for Edsby!

Re: setup, your district has the ability to "model" your upcoming classes and automatically set up technical things like gradebook weighting and assessment schemes for you, and every teacher. Ask your internal Edsby support team about it.

Re: font size, Edsby supports browsers' built in text magnification features. Browsers often call it Zooming in or Zooming out in their View menus. Common keyboard shortcuts include Ctrl + "+" (plus) to zoom in and Ctrl + "-" (minus) to zoom out on Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS. On Mac, the shortcuts are Cmd + "+" and Cmd + "-" respectively. If you find you could use increased font size in any area of Edsby, try this. A smaller font is used in the gradebook to try to display as much as possible on a single screen, but we respect that not all users have the same eyesight. Here's a roundup of all the ways our product accommodates users with different accessibility needs: https://www.edsby.com/accessibility/
