**Reviewed by:** Robert K. | Database Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2022

**What do you like best about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

What I like about edb postgres server is that it is open source and readily available for use and trying. It is cheap than most database server in the market.
I like it how it's easy to use and learn as tutorials are readily available.
It is much easier to integrate with other tools like adb cloud native, oracle and others. Has great feature of protecting data using encryption method of data sets. Data backup and replications in this tool ensure data is available any time and reduce loss of data or failures in the databases

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

This tool has overall good performance with no failures or anything related to misbehaving downgrading our success whatsoever.
It has never failed even for a second and has been a blessing for me

  ### 8. Great option in the relational database space

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shayan G. | Business Development Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2022

**What do you like best about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

It's pretty much same as Oracle but less expensive. It comes with all the majorly required capabilities and functionalities although the open source version has its own limitations.
It provides integration with majority of the tools .
Database management is much simpler with the tools for taking care of all the operational tasks like backups , repliaction , sharding etc.
It offers 24x7 support for the production environment.

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

It's difficult to monitor the query performance and hard to understand the issues with the database performance.
Sometimes while you're scaling up, the latency increases resulting in slow operations.

**What problems is EDB Postgres Advanced Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We started using EDB Postgres for one use case and after realizing that its cost effective as compared to Oracle , we have shifted other workloads to Postgres as well.
We're using it to store mission-critical data and using it in our production environment. It has helped to make database management simple without having to invest hours in maintanence. It has also helped ensure constant uptime of all our applications.

  ### 9. Agile and reliable management of multiple databases.

  ### 11. Great and versatile database

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**Describe the project or task EDB Postgres Advanced Server helped with:**

I used Enterprise DB when I worked for Pitney Bowes. It was a great and versatile database because I depended on Postgis, the spatial part of Enterprise DB.

**What do you like best about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

The upsides were the versatility and the flexibility

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

Pure anecdotal but from what I’ve heard, it’s difficult if you really want to replace your oracle database you can do that. How ever Oracle is so tightly integrated you end up having two systems anyway.
Not really an enterprise DB issue per se

**What problems is EDB Postgres Advanced Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storing address information as well as spatial information

  ### 12. Great enhancement of the powerfulmultispeciality database PostgreSQL

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SUBHA P. | Technical Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2019

**What do you like best about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

Has a good compatability with Oracle. The EDB Migration toolkit that migrates Oracle database to PostgreSQL is supercool.
Infinite Cache implemented with PPAS was definitely an addon
xDB replication that allows to use multi master replication that was not the case with traditional PostgreSQL which use master slave replication only
Postgres Enterprise Manager (ie PEM) has good sophisticated features when compared to pgAmin including large deployments

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

PPAS has minimum support features for using PostGIS which is useful for Geographical Information Systems
Xdb multi master replication sometime leads to catalog corruption

**What problems is EDB Postgres Advanced Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using OLTP application and GIS applications.Performance is better with PPAS .

  ### 13. Good and stable product and good customer support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Glen Elvis M J A. | Senior Associate , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2020

**What do you like best about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

Full text search is good. Good IDE for writing queries and managing Databases. It supports users and roles. We can scale well . It supports two phase commit. Good customer support. It supports sql profiling

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

Multi-process architecture some times troubles the development environment. Two phase commit blocks until a commit or rollback is received. Support and product is little expensive

**What problems is EDB Postgres Advanced Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developmental activities for multiple clients

  ### 14. 3 years of work with the database, the availability of certificates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2021

**What do you like best about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

a single management console, great options for configuring fault tolerance, Oracle syntax support

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

if the cost were lower, the product would be used everywhere

**Recommendations to others considering EDB Postgres Advanced Server:**

Recommended

**What problems is EDB Postgres Advanced Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

high availability and high performance

  ### 15. The right move for our migration

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2018

**What do you like best about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

The installation process, as well as the migration of data from our existing Oracle system, is very well documented. While it may not be seamless, our data was up in our test environment with minimum effort beyond changing some referential pointers

**What do you dislike about EDB Postgres Advanced Server?**

Not all *NIX platforms are supported, yet. Our organization mostly uses Ubuntu, but we are standing up RHEL instances just for EDB.

Additionally, no TPE support OOTB like Oracle or MSSQL

**Recommendations to others considering EDB Postgres Advanced Server:**

Definitely go with in-house consulting with EDB. Their teams are fantastic to work with

**What problems is EDB Postgres Advanced Server solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've seen tested improvements in speed in terms of accessing data. Additionally, we see a large cost-savings after switching from Oracle
