I am not an ESG specialist, but as a small business owner I can't say that Ecovadis provides any value to us and instead is a burden. It is easy to use - I suppose this is a positive point. **What do you dislike about EcoVadis?** We were forced to use Ecovadis and pay for it by one of our key enterprise customers. Ecovadis relies on this model of forcing businesses to comply with bureaucracy and pay for it to be able to maintain customers. So, their business performance is not really based on the value they provide but on how many key accounts they can get to grow the network effect. I suppose they migh provide value to large enterprises who need to measure and comply with ESG policies, specifically in the EU space, but for small businesses it just doesn't offer any value. It is also no flexible to allow small businesses to score well. We are a small business, with a remote working arrangement, so our carbin footprint is tiny. However if you can't subit reports about your office electrical consumption and other enterprise metrics your score is reduced. The system is also basically a documentation check. There are no physical audits or verification processes as far as we are concerned, so it is safe to assume the data they collect and measure is unreliable. **What problems is EcoVadis solving and how is that benefiting you?** No benefits. We have to pay for a subscription just to comply with one of our customers. **Official Response from Clara Carriere:** > Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback for us. The EcoVadis assessment questionnaires are adapted to each company depending on their industry, location, and size, including extra-small companies with up to 25 employees. On average, different small companies are asked ten questions, based on the industry they are involved in. We understand that smaller companies may not have a sustainability management system that is as developed as larger companies and may have fewer formalized documents. I spent a lot time to fill carefully in all the information and once it's done I didn't see any outcome. You lose time, everything is done to make you pay more and more, but you don't have any insights of what you should do to improve. They threatened to send our invoice to collections if we did not pay the annual subscription for a service that we did not request or want. They are just in it for the money. The pre-filled questions from previous years and document management is very helpful to help renew each year. The explanations above each question provide insights that can even give ideas to changes and improvements in our corporate citizenship projects. **What do you dislike about EcoVadis?** I don't appreciate some items that for me don't reflect actual committment but more reflect monetary funds. Like the importance of having had signed a given charter that requires payment. As well as this, the reporting aspect does not feel complete and the filter buttons do not usually work. **What problems is EcoVadis solving and how is that benefiting you?** EcoVadis allows for a look into the ESG and sustainability of our suppliers, which is massively helpful and something that would be very difficult to attempt manually. ### 27. It is not easy to understand how companies are assessed based on the scoring methodology. No companies receive a score of over a certain amount. As a result, companies can score as low as 59 but still be in the top 20% of all companies globally.
