What do you like best about Ecobot?

What do you dislike about Ecobot?

The GPS portion doesn't allow you to put in flag labels (I think this is still an issue). Cost of the program can be steep for small companies that don't do a lot of wetland delineations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Ecobot?

"Ecobot makes wetland delineations more efficient"

What do you like best about Ecobot?

This app keeps me organized and makes it easier to keep track of wetland forms, especially when you are working in a complicated system and need to take a lot of data. I like that the program contains easily accessible descriptions for hydrology and hydric soil indicators; this feature is especially helpful when training new staff. I like that I can easily access and share data with my teammates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ecobot?

I generally have issues accessing the Wetlands Mapper and SoilWeb map while out in the field. I think it could be helpful when searching vegetation to be able to just start typing either a common or a scientific name and pull up results without having to click on the separate tabs. Additionally, I think it could be helpful to add some additional reference information on the vegetation such as including USDA plant fact sheets, images, or ranges. What problems is Ecobot solving and how is that benefiting you?

Ecobot solves organizational and tracking problems. It helps us not have to keep track of paper forms, which are easy to lose, misplace, or drop in the mud. Ecobot contains reference information directly in the app which helps us not have to keep track of as many different field guides or switch between programs. This saves us time in the field. Ecobot functions entirely offline, with only a handful of external supplementary links and the process of downloading a basemap from Esri’s servers requiring a data connection. You can collect all data without cell service, and even our reference guides are built in so that they’re always accessible in the field. Your data lives locally on your device until you regain service and can sync your project to the cloud. We’d be happy to set up a training to make sure all this is familiar before you head back into the field.

Have you checked out the auto-population of location data from the web dashboard? You can automatically fetch location data based on your point location, which will populate the NWI Map and Soil Map Unit Name fields for you!

"Ecobot: The Delineator's Helper"

What do you like best about Ecobot?

I love the fact that Ecobot supplies the indicator status of species for you; no more googling while in the field with limited reception. It also does the dominance test and FAC-neutral math for you. The soil indicator descriptions are also very helpful for checking yourself while still in the field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ecobot?

We really have to watch that we check projects in when we leave the field, otherwise someone has to get to the iPad to check a project back in before we can do anything on desktop. I'm not sure there's much to be done about that, though. I'm also looking forward to when they change things so that a project created on desktop by one person can be viewed by any person from the group who is logged in on the iPad. Recommendations to others considering Ecobot:

Try to have an ipad that will last all day during field work, so you don't have to worry about checking in projects when switching devices. A battery bank strapped to an ipad will generally help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Ecobot solving and how is that benefiting you?

We're saving a ton of time on reviewing math and species indicators during our QA process. It's also nice having the immediate feedback in the field of knowing that you've passed the dominance test, PI, fac-neutral, etc. And definitely saving time on data entry back in the office. Erin, thanks so much for the review, and your comments about the check-in/check out process. This process prevents users who may be without an internet connection in the field from accidentally overwriting data—and it works! To date, out of over 50,000 recorded sampling points, not a single Ecobot customer has lost their data. We’re working to expand Ecobot’s collaboration features, and the ability to check out your teammates’ projects is in the works.
