Free designs are basic but can help you out in a jam. Love the readiness of the staff to help out! It brought my infographic game from an F to an A++. The upsides of using Easel.ly are numerous—it’s like infographics for dummies. You can re-adapt designs over and over again to get more bang for your buck and save you time. It wasn’t easy at the beginning, but there is a pretty sharp learning curve and once you’ve got it, you’ve got it. The tutorial videos do help. The animated infographics look awesome—I haven’t had the need to use them in my work but have earmarked that service for some story ideas I have. **What do you dislike about Easel.ly?** Pricing a little high—be prepared to spend for upscale products— takes time to get the hang of it. Hate that not all the elements in an infographic are editable. Also, there are so many similar infographics out there because lots of people use Easel.ly...perhaps the company could create more templates or lock a template after so many iterations? Also, there aren’t very many icons or fonts compared to Adobe and other programs. Easel.ly needs to provide more of those. **What problems is Easel.ly solving and how is that benefiting you?** I created an infographic series as an independent journalist. I was inexperienced at infographic creation—Easel.ly made it simpler and it looked gorgeous. I didn’t know how to make an infographic when I started—I didn’t even know what an infographic was. Thank god for this program, as it saved my butt often, especially in the beginning. Lots of templates to choose from make transporting your information fun and stretch your creativity. It wasn’t just that the content looked prettier—Easel.ly inspired me to create new written content based on graphical ideas. I found the sales team to be incredibly friendly and responsive when I had questions. I liked the free version very much and was frustrated when I kept bumping into sales opportunities on the site, but I know that’s how they make money, so... The platform also uses customizable charts with options for labels, rows, columns, and values.To ensure the proper alignment of images and graphic properties, you can switch to grid view—super helpful. ### 2. The easy way to make suggested changes is very helpful, being able to select a particular are of the graphic and make comments about that section. Subsequent turnaround time on edits was also quick and very responsive to the suggestions made. Incorporation of our brand colors made the infographic sharp. **What do you dislike about Easel.ly?** Certainly, when you already know what you want represented in an infographic (data sets, etc) Easel.ly makes for an efficient way to get great results. If you are in the IDEA stage, it may be harder to give them the information they need to work with in a way that meets your expectation. At that point, hashing out your ideas with someone BEFORE presenting info to Easel.ly may make better sense. **What problems is Easel.ly solving and how is that benefiting you?** I needed to convey conceptual information more than numerical data, and the infographic process with Easel.ly illuminated things for me in a way that helped me solidify my ideas even more so that they were more tangible, more understandable, and definitely more fun to read than as bullet marks on white paper! **Official Response from Mika Marte:** > Hi Anita! Easel.ly requested the information to sketch the basic design, then we had many iterations until the final design was ready. They were very responsive and always were willing to improve the graphs until all was good to go. They captured our brands' needs and the final product was in line with our brand look and feel. **What do you dislike about Easel.ly?** Perhaps, a quick call could have saved iterations, but I am conscious of time different, work division and clients´request, but maybe there could be a workaround. **What problems is Easel.ly solving and how is that benefiting you?** Communication with clients, an infographic is a potent way to be brief and concise. The designers did a good job of making all of the colors work together well. I love that they have a very easy system to recommend edits. **What do you dislike about Easel.ly?** The only issue that I had was the fact that they wrote exactly word for word what you wrote in the form without making sure the words/sentences flowed together. I was shocked to find that the sample infographic was awesomely done but completed in croeldraw!! I also use Canva for quick graphics, but I find the art available on the Easel.ly paid version (student $18/year) is really great. I love the options for resizing fonts. Lightening fast for logo mocks. **What do you dislike about Easel.ly?** If you do use easel.ly for more than quick mocks, you can run into issues with canvas size. For example, their preset values for "letter" are not the right size and they don't have the same range of presets that Canva offers. That said, there is a lot of flexibility, although that can be a blessing or curse... just something to be aware of. **Recommendations to others considering Easel.ly:** Try out the free version. If you like it, it's super cheap for the year upgrade. **What problems is Easel.ly solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use easel.ly when I need to make a quick infographic. I work in several online design tools and many don't even have customer support. Those that do can often take days to get back with just a link to a knowledge base that I've already searched. I had some account issues in the past weeks and not only was the response I received prompt and thorough, they went above and beyond to get me set up in a way that would allow me to use the tool in the way that works best for me. The drag and drop editor and gallery of objections and layouts also make this a great tool to use on the fly - which I often need to do! **What do you dislike about Easel.ly?** I sometimes wish that some of the objects were more "editable." I often come across objects that work very well for my design but I can't adjust the colors to fit my brand and end up doing more work in PhotoShop than I want to to fit the design to my standards. **Recommendations to others considering Easel.ly:** Easel.ly has added quite a few tools since I started using it a little over a year ago. It is currently one of a few design programs that I use - including PhotoShop and Canva - and they each have their merits. Most of the times it is not working in Mozilla.
