## About DX
DX is the developer intelligence platform designed by leading researchers to help engineering organizations measure productivity and navigate the shift to AI-augmented engineering. The platform provides research-backed measurement by unifying quantitative data from SDLC tools with qualitative, developer-reported friction to offer a complete view of engineering performance. By serving hundreds of the world’s most iconic companies, including Dropbox, Pfizer, and Uber, DX provides the data and insights leaders need to lead with confidence in the AI era. Measuring productivity has long been an elusive challenge, but DX anchors insights in validated signals through the DX Core 4—measuring speed, effectiveness, quality, and impact—and the Developer Experience Index (DXI). These frameworks allow organizations to see how developers work and where they get stuck to reduce friction and boost satisfaction. By using tools like Workflow Analysis, Experience Sampling, and DevSat, DX captures the conditions developers need to deliver effectively, moving beyond "culture fluff" to connect developer friction directly to business impact. The platform offers extensive Engineering Productivity capabilities, including SDLC Analytics, TrueThroughput™, and Engineering Allocation to align engineering with business goals. Leaders can use Team Dashboards and Custom Reporting to find bottlenecks, while R&D Capitalization and Sprint Analytics provide precise evaluation of organizational performance. To understand how a company compares to the broader market, Industry Benchmarking allows for a precise evaluation of performance against specific peer companies and industry segments. To manage the transition to generative AI, DX provides a specialized AI Measurement framework. This allows leaders to track GenAI adoption and impact to guide smarter decisions at scale. Organizations use these insights for Strategic Planning, Vendor Evaluation, and AI Workflow Optimization, ensuring that AI investments result in tangible improvements to engineering velocity. Additionally, AI Enablement tools—including the Systems Catalog, Context Management, and the Internal Developer Portal—help unify context from across the SDLC to power an AI-native future. This suite also includes AI Readiness assessments, Agent Ops Tools, and Scorecards to ensure developer self-service is optimized for high output. DX AI serves as an AI Copilot for engineering leaders, acting as an analytical layer over the organization's data. Instead of static dashboards, DX AI continuously delivers insights and flags risks automatically. It helps leaders answer complex questions about their data, creates custom reports from simple prompts, and provides specific AI Recommendations on where leaders should focus next. Every insight in DX is designed to be actionable, leading toward a clearer question or a concrete next step. Through Executive Reporting and Targeted Studies, the platform provides CXOs and managers with the evidence needed to decide more effectively. By identifying measurement gaps and revealing what the data or developer voice shows, DX helps organizations optimize their engineering performance in an increasingly complex technical landscape.

## DX Reviews
 ### 1. Very collaborative experience using DX

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Missy R. | Software Engineering Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX has an intuitive, easy-to-use interface that makes it genuinely user-friendly. I also really appreciate that they surface the queries used to populate metrics, so I can dig in when needed and create custom metrics that are a better fit for the questions I’m trying to answer.

They’ve also been incredibly collaborative and responsive whenever I have questions or run into issues, and it’s clear they take the quality and usability of their product seriously. Even though we’re a smaller account for them, they’ve taken my feedback seriously and worked to implement product changes that better fit our engineering use case. I’ve been very impressed with that.

It's a decently pricey product and I was concerned at first that it would be difficult to prove out it's value. That said, we've gotten great feedback from DX that have led to needed changes in our department. Along with that value and with how much of a partnership we've had with them, it has made it worth it to me.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

It’s hard to build a product that’s flexible enough to fit everyone’s use case while still being opinionated enough to avoid becoming a complete mess. Overall, I think they strike that balance very well. That said, it would be nice if a few areas were a bit more customizable. It’s not a major complaint, just a “nice to have.”

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX has been a useful tool for putting real data behind how teams and individuals are performing. As a manager, the insights I get from this software have helped me coach people on my team more effectively and with more confidence. We’ve also been able to use what we find in the app to set clear team goals around efficiency improvements and track progress based on the data.

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> Missy, this genuinely made my day to read. Knowing your feedback has translated into real product changes is exactly the kind of relationship we want with every customer. Really glad the query transparency is useful too.On the customization front, I'll raise that internally. Your framing of the balance between flexibility and having a clear point of view is really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to write this up!

 ### 2. DX Turns Developer Insights into Data-Driven Improvements at Scale

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sujith C. | VP of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

As a platform leader overseeing 10+ products and delivery teams, DX is a critical lever for identifying bottlenecks, friction points, and opportunities to improve the developer experience. DX insights help us move beyond what is happening to understand the why behind productivity challenges, enabling more informed, data-driven decisions. By survey feedback (run biannually), we can continuously track developer satisfaction, delivery health, and operational effectiveness. Integration with Jira and GitHub data, helps build metrics such as cycle time by project/team/individual, epic forecast accuracy, support tickets per customer, after-hours activity, and AI coding assistant adoption—allowing us to benchmark against industry standards, improve engineering quality, and ultimately deliver better customer outcomes.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

We’ve integrated with Outlook Calendar to get clearer visibility into how teams balance meeting time versus deep work. Right now, the metrics roll up all meetings, and we don’t yet have a way to exclude specific meeting types. That’s an area we can explore enhancing in the future to make the insights more accurate and relevant.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use this DX Platform to pinpoint developer-experience bottlenecks and understand the root causes behind productivity challenges in one place.

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> Sujith, this is a really thoughtful breakdown of how you're using DX across a complex org and it's great to see the platform working at that scale. The combination of biannual survey cycles with Jira and GitHub signal to get at the "why" behind productivity trends is exactly the use case we design for. On the calendar integration, the ability to filter out specific meeting types to get a cleaner picture of deep work time is a really smart ask and we'll raise directly with the team so it gets into the right hands. Appreciate you taking the time to write this up in such detail.

 ### 3. A tool to catch problems and communicate with stakeholders about engineeringexcellence

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saulius S. | Staff Back-End engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

I like that DX allows teams to point to the most painful blockers. There are many predefined areas to choose from, therefore increasing responses. People tend to forget/overlook problems if they are only asked to remember what's blocked on the spot. This is not the case with DX.

I love how easy it is to configure Service catalog and Scorecards.

I have received a lot of help from the AI query builder, which makes accessing custom data easier.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

It's sometimes hard for me to separate my problems (if I work with a very small area of code/functionality) from the difficulties the company has (different teams have). This is partly because I'm working in a Devex team. Therefore, I need to think about how to improve work for other teams.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me see the problems developers face and which they consider the most urgent to fix. Each team ends the DX survey by choosing which (up to three) issues are the most relevant, which can be solved by the team, and which require help from the Devex team. This allows me to focus on the most important issues for developers.

It is a great tool for providing statistics-based arguments to stakeholders about engineering excellence. To present an objective argument for why the company needs to spend time improving engineering quality.

 ### 4. Transparent Pain Point Insights with Concrete Data That Drives Action

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcel G. | Student Developer Experience Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

What I like best about DX is its well-designed features, especially the intuitive dashboard and clean layout. They make it easy to identify pain points and give our team, domain, and tech sector clear, concrete data. This clarity helps us take meaningful action and address issues effectively across multiple organisational levels.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

I don’t see any specific downsides, but I’d like the provided data to include a few examples of tangible use cases for addressing the highlighted pain points. This could help generate ideas for tackling the pain points.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX makes identifying pain points a very transparent process. It provides our team, domain, and tech sector with concrete data, which makes it much easier to take action and address those pain points across multiple organisational levels.

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> Marcel, glad the dashboard is making it easy to surface and act on pain points across the org. The suggestion around tangible use cases tied to specific pain points is a good one and I'll raise it internally. In the meantime, DX AI is worth exploring for exactly that, it surfaces actionable recommendations directly from your data: getdx.com/ai-recommendations/.

 ### 5. GetDX Delivers Deep Developer Insights with Powerful Survey Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rokas R. | Freelance WordPress Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

For me - a DevEx team developer and also us as a team - I could not think of a better way to get insights from our developers which then dictates our goals, weak and strong sides. DX provides the opportunity to achieve simple goal - survey the developers, but also gives all those other useful tools (feature toggle, comparison to industry standards and etc.).

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Nothing much to dislike about DX from my perspective, but since this is a survey-driven platform, the surveys itself can be improved in terms of interactivity. More appealing, interesting and quicker surveys can reduce the fatigue which developers can get while filling in the surveys.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly - local development issues, also: tech debt management, test efficiency, cross-team collaboration, ease of release, code review and probably 10+ more.

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> Hi Rokas—It’s great to hear that DX is helping your team pinpoint exactly where to focus, from tech debt to release processes. We really value your feedback on survey interactivity: keeping developers engaged without the fatigue is a top priority for us, and we're always looking for ways to make those check-ins feel quicker and more natural.

 ### 6. DX Nails It: Insightful Surveys, Perfect UX, and Powerful Dashboards

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefano M. | Senior front-end developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

I've been following DX for many years, always appreciating their in-depth researches, insights, knowledge of the market, and understanding of what engineers and companies needs, how to make both happy and why, what are the tradeoffs, and more.

Then it I had a big surprise when one day, as part of big ex devex and engineering excellence investments, Preply's Slack had a new bot, DX, asking me to fill out a survey 😍

Then I got even more joy when I realized that not only the survey was interesting and I'm point, but also the UX of the web app was perfect!
When I got the link to the dashboard to look at the company data, it was another moment of joy: I can look at tons of detailed data, analyze it easily, compare them team by team, compare it with the market, read the whole company engineers feedback, and way more.

I want to highlight that nailing something like DX's for isn't granted. If you have ever worked with dashboards and the need to allow the users to gather meaningful information out of an ocean of datw isn't straightforward.

DX nailed everything they do, and every moment of interaction with them and they product is a spark of joy. I can't recommend DX more, I really love them, what they do, their product, and the productivity outcome they unleash for their clients. 😍

**What do you dislike about DX?**

To be honest: nothing, I think the platform is perfect as it is at the moment

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting high quality, actionable, and quick insights about the devex situation

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> Stefano! It’s wonderful to hear that your experience with DX has been so positive, from the research and UX to the depth of our dashboards. We're thrilled that the platform is helping you turn that ocean of data into meaningful insights for your team.

 ### 7. Engineering Intelligence, backed by an excellent Support Team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Backend Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX gives us meaningful insights into how well our engineering organization is working and helps us make better decisions. What really sets DX apart is the level of partnership we’ve experienced; having a direct communication channel with their team for feature requests and support makes a huge difference.

I also like that we reach almost all employees with the quarterly Snapshot surveys, with much higher engagement than other internal surveys we’ve run. Another feature worth highlighting is the AI assistant for writing database queries, which makes creating custom reports a breeze even without deep SQL knowledge. I also appreciate the flexibility: DX comes with strong out-of-the-box integrations (like GitHub or Linear) but also let us send custom metrics to enhance the available data.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

For us, the main limitation is the subscription structure, which can feel a bit restrictive. For example, we’d like to use the Sentry connector, but that requires upgrading to the "Full Service Cloud" package. It would be much more helpful to have greater flexibility to select and enable individual integrations without needing to move to a higher-tier bundle.

In our case, the catalog of services also feels somewhat crowded because it includes many auto-generated tools that aren’t relevant to us. In addition, although many fields display industry comparison values, those benchmarks are often missing. That makes it harder to judge whether our numbers are in a good range or if they need attention.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before adopting DX, we didn’t have deep visibility into the overall health and performance of our engineering organization. Our standard internal surveys also tended to have low engagement, which left us with incomplete data and an unclear picture.

DX has addressed this by providing a platform our developers actually use and engage with, giving us a more reliable “pulse” on the organization. On top of that, being able to combine standard integrations (like GitHub) with our own custom data helps us make evidence-based decisions instead of relying on gut feeling.

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> Thanks Michael! It is great to hear that the partnership with our team and the high survey engagement have been so valuable for your organization. We appreciate the honest feedback about integration flexibility and the need for more consistent industry benchmarks; we're focused on making those insights easier to interpret so you can feel even more confident in your decision-making.

 ### 8. Excellent support and actionable engineering insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eva C. | Progam Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

What I like most about DX is how quickly we were able to get value from it - it was up and running within weeks and gave us immediate visibility across our engineering teams. During our POC, we saw a 100% survey response rate, the highest we’ve ever seen. I also appreciate how it blends DORA metrics with real-time feedback to provide a complete view of developer experience. The built-in industry benchmarks help us understand where we stand relative to peers, and the proactive alerts with recommendations are a valuable bonus. We also had an excellent experience with the DX team - our customer success manager, account manager, and program manager were all incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the setup.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

While DX offers custom reporting, there’s a bit of a learning curve to fully tailor it to different stakeholder needs. As we’re still early in our adoption, we’re also building up historical data, so long-term trends will take time to develop.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before DX, I spent too much time piecing together metrics and survey feedback manually. Now, I get a unified, high-level view with actionable insights - saving time and making it easier to support our teams effectively.

 ### 9. Transformative insights and tooling for modern engineering teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel F. | Senior Director of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX has been incredibly easy to use and integrate into our existing workflows. Their support team is consistently responsive and proactive, and the pace at which they ship meaningful improvements is impressive. Beyond the product itself, what really sets DX apart is their thought leadership in developer experience and productivity. The content, research, and frameworks they share have been hugely valuable in shaping how we approach developer experience at Paddle, and in my own understanding of what good looks like in this space.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

There’s not much to dislike. The only limitation we’ve hit is that the Linear integration isn’t yet as full-featured as the JIRA one, but I know it’s something they’re actively improving.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX gives us clear visibility into how efficiently our engineering department is operating — where work is flowing smoothly, and where bottlenecks or friction points exist. It helps us move beyond anecdotal feedback and gut feel by providing data-driven insights into developer productivity and experience. It’s also made it far easier to communicate how engineering is performing to our executive team, using concrete metrics rather than just vibes.

 ### 10. Rich developer feedback at scale

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX provides a single, trusted view of developer experience by combining rich, quarterly survey feedback with signals from our delivery tools. We don’t just see what’s happening, we understand why. With team-level visibility and benchmarks, the platform enables easy triage of issues, prioritization of investments, and tracking of progress without resorting to individual surveillance. The wealth of survey data (structured drivers plus free-text insights) consistently reveals the real friction in our day-to-day (think CI reliability, code review flow, and time for deep work) and converts that into an actionable roadmap.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

One of the challenges we've had is integrating our systems-level data into the platform. This is largely due to our years of bespoke internal implementations and the challenge of retrofitting them into something that DX can use. However, it does mean that we have yet to start using the entirety of the platform to its full potential.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX provides us with a unified, trusted view by combining system telemetry (cycle time, deployments, code review flow) with quarterly survey signals, allowing us to see both what’s happening and why it’s happening.

By giving us team-level insights with industry benchmarks, our managers and ICs are now triaging friction in their teams, prioritizing investments, and tracking progress responsibly. This has allowed us to focus at a company level on higher-order concerns that are impacting multiple teams, and giving us the visibility into these problems that we've historically not been able to see across a large organization.

 ### 11. Unified Insights and Outstanding Support Elevate Developer Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX serves as our primary platform for gathering data about developer experience and productivity. DX has provided us with a single access point and a unified view for data from different platforms. The ease of filtering and slicing by teams and attributes has helped us better understand the performance of different teams. The snapshot feature has enabled us to drive multiple efficiency initiatives and produce measurable impact on developer experience and velocity. Another key feature is the ability to compare our metrics to similar organizations, which has helped us better understand areas that require improvement and simplified our reporting.

These initiatives have been supported by the continuous assistance from the excellent DX Team throughout implementation and beyond. The team is always ready to answer our questions and has helped us align multiple reports to fit our needs.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The default defect ratio reporting uses a different methodology than our internal innovation and defect tracking processes. While the current approach works for us, we're looking forward to an upcoming feature that will allow us to customize reporting to better align with our specific tracking methods.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX solved our developer experience measurement and tracking problem. It allows us to make informed decisions and drive efficiency projects based on data. We can clearly track which initiatives are working and which aren't, enabling us to iterate quickly.

This capability has been particularly critical for measuring the impact of our various GenAI for Engineering initiatives. DX integrated seamlessly with our toolchain and provided the metrics we needed to accurately capture ROI on these investments.

Another key benefit has been gathering accurate feedback from engineering teams specifically about the development process. In the past, company-wide surveys were a constant struggle to capture this information effectively. The targeted comments from engineering teams have already helped us reshape various internal processes and prioritize improvements that matter most to developers.

 ### 12. Good tool and insights around developer productivity

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phil F. | VP Product & Engineering, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX snapshots (surveys) and benchmarking data, even during the free trial, gave us (Eng leadership) valuable information about how our team was doing and what to focus on. We also really like the insight into GitHub activity at the team and individual and aggregate level, helping us keep an eye on what bottlenecks we may have from engineer performance (useful for eng directors and managers) to engineering productivity (how we can elevate entire department productivity). We also like the transparency and flexibility with the SQL-backed data studio. I like how they have tried to design this as a transparent tool at all levels from ICs to managers to upper eng leadership.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Compared to some competitors I checked out, the integration & onboarding of DX was less streamlined and more time consuming. For example getting all the teams/users data into the system and authorizing everything on GitHub was a too-many-step process vs. nearly 1-click like some others. I think they should improve this, but if you can get past the set up it's a powerful platform.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 ### 13. DX is the best balance of signal, actionability, and cultural fit I’ve used.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fernando B. | Director of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

We’ve been using DX for two quarters now. I’ve used different platforms in the past.

DX’s “Core 4” framework provided a consistent way for leadership, EMs, and developers to discuss velocity, quality, and flow. The built-in benchmarks were an eye-opener, especially around code-review turnaround. Showing what “good” looks like and where we could realistically get to has been fantastic.

DX helps us use the quarterly/periodic surveys and organizational snapshots to spot the big trends, then track improvement metrics (like time-to-first MR review) weekly to move the needle. That split (diagnostic vs. improvement) has already made change management much easier.

Another example/feature that DX provides is the Work Log report, which clarified why collaboration spiked at the end of sprints across all our 10+ teams, and the Interactions view helped us pair people more effectively and remove review bottlenecks. Simple nudges (e.g., Slack pings for MR review thresholds) came straight from DX insights.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The benchmarks are helpful, though I’d love even finer segmentation (e.g., by company stage, team size, domain, or language/runtime) to make comparisons feel more tailored.

Noting that this would happen with any other platform, but the first month of having DX benefits from a short “metrics 101” to align on definitions (diagnostic vs. improvement, how to read benchmarks, etc). That’s even before you have your first snapshot. DX provides the data, but you’ll still want a light internal primer so teams interpret it the same way.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I suppose the most important thing DX solves for us is: ut replaces gut-feel with a shared, objective view of engineering health across leadership, managers, and developers.

It has already helped us surface hidden bottlenecks, separate diagnostic snapshots from improvement metrics we can act on weekly, and give EMs and developers the tools to self-triage and set team-owned goals. We’ve used it to accelerate reviews, smooth end-of-sprint crunch, and validate changes like review assignments and Slack nudges.

At the leadership level, DX connects outcomes to investments (GitLab, Copilot/GenAI) and aligns everyone on DORA/SPACE/DevEx benchmarks. So we ship faster, maintain quality, and avoid burnout while putting dollars where they truly move the needle.

 ### 14. A clear look into engineering health and team success for continuous improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

I love the DX platform because it gives me a real-time, holistic view of our engineering health and the underlying dynamics that shape how our teams build. It surfaces meaningful signals — not just metrics — that help me understand where friction exists, where teams are thriving, and where targeted support can drive the greatest impact. With DX, I can partner more effectively with engineering leadership to make data-informed decisions, anticipate challenges before they escalate, and champion the operational and cultural changes that truly move the organization forward. Ultimately, the platform empowers me to focus our energy in the right places, improve how we work, and enable our teams to deliver with greater clarity, confidence, and momentum. We've been able to connect with new platforms we use like Amp and Firebender to track AI adoption very easily, so I'd say ease of use and implementation are also great.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The snapshots and reports are very helpful. Sometimes I find it hard to sift through data and slice it by the right attributes. There are a lot of attributes and I find myself having to ask our DX support team to help me get the right comparisons of control groups, etc. They are very helpful and I can always rely on them to support.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us understand where engineering teams are thriving and where they're feeling friction. As an AI Enablement program lead and champion at Underdog, I'm very interested in how teams are leveraging AI, and we've been able to adapt our quarterly snapshots to ingest that information easily and pivot our AI enablement strategy accordingly. It not just helps us understand data on org health, it also helps us action them effectively to continuously improve.

 ### 15. Effective, Well-Organized Surveys with Powerful SQL-Based Reporting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco C. | CTO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

I love the way DX manages surveys; it’s very effective and well organized. Moreover, beyond all the reports available, the ability to build on top of plain SQL is a real blessing.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The learning curve is steep, and the product has so many functionalities that it’s easy to get lost at first.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a deeper understanding of what we can improve so our engineers can work more efficiently and effectively.

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> Thanks, Marco! It’s great to hear that the SQL-based reporting is a win for your team. We definitely hear you on the learning curve; with so many features, we’re focused on making the experience more intuitive and providing world-class support so you can find those efficiency gains even faster.

 ### 16. Powerful Insights and Recommendations That Elevate Team Performance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

Insights and recommendations. The tool itself is really powerful and has given me insights into my team that i couldnt get easily before. Team interactions and the new SLA's are two of my favourite features.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Some of the reporting is rigid and requires you work for what you're looking for. For example my team pair programs almost by default and because the developer speed is measured by pr's divided by number of devs the performance of my team from a speed perspective doesnt look great. There's no clear of easy way to adjust for this right now. So i have to manually tweak reports to account for it. I have a similar thing for Lead contributions while they are active contributors there commits are far more infrequent due to the nature of their role. This isnt easily factored in. That said the custom reporting and AI tooling mean you can find ways around these things

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Right now its helping us address developer effectiveness and pain points that are causing lag or waste. DX score has replaced our primary success metric in engineering

 ### 17. Insightful AI Reports and Intuitive Interface

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

The AI utilization and impact reports are my favorite. I like to explore how different teams and team members use AI and what impact that usage has on their projects.
The interface is easy to use and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

I haven't been able to find a "Dark Mode" setting. That'd be great.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a custom report for "AI Usage" that helps us analyse AI interactions and score between org members. I look at it a few times a day to know who's a heavy AI user and who I can reach out to ask questions about AI, etc.
Also I use the reports to identify teams using AI, when I find a team using AI heavily and if I know they are using a similar stack, I reach out to share best practices and prompts.

 ### 18. Versatile Insights Tool for Leadership, Platform, and Team Improvements

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2026

**What do you like best about DX?**

I like that the tool can be used in multiple ways across the organisation, with a wide range of features that support those different needs.

For our leadership team, it offers useful insights to help steer our engineering strategy and track how we’re progressing against it.

For Platform teams, it’s a valuable way to gather internal user feedback and use those insights to inform roadmap decisions.

For individual teams, it provides a strong pulse-check to reflect on and retrospect about the developer experience, helping drive meaningful improvements at the team level.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

After using the product for a while, we’ve found that the drivers are more useful at the leadership level than for generating platform product insights. In our case, we’ve relied more on CSATs and PlatformX surveys to gather information that’s been more actionable and helpful. That approach naturally comes with a small additional overhead.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we first established DX, our focus was on understanding developer efficiency in context. With the tools we used previously, we could see efficiency data, but it only told us the “what,” not the “why.”

DX’s features and overall approach have helped us better pinpoint the “why,” which in turn has enabled more informed, effective decisions about where and how to improve.

**Official Response from Taylor Bruneaux:**

> It is great to see how you are leveraging DX across leadership, platform, and individual teams to move beyond the what and understand the why. We appreciate the feedback on using CSATs and PlatformX for more granular insights; our customer success managers are available to help you streamline that overhead and ensure your roadmap decisions remain as actionable as possible.

 ### 19. DX Delivers Actionable Insights and Continuous Improvement for Developer Experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX quickly provides us with valuable and actionable insights into our developer experience challenges. By combining qualitative feedback from developer surveys with quantitative metrics like DORA and flow data, it becomes much easier to pinpoint the sources of friction.

The benchmarks offered by DX are extremely helpful—it would be nearly impossible for us to gather and interpret this kind of comparative data on our own. While we could technically conduct similar surveys ourselves, the real advantage is in how DX interprets and contextualises the results for us.

The ability to compare current and previous surveys is also a major strength, as it allows us to track our progress over time and assess the impact of our initiatives. I particularly appreciate being able to explore survey findings in greater depth through dedicated follow-up studies, which help us identify patterns and concentrate on the areas that matter most.

Lastly, DX is evolving rapidly, and I am eager to see what new features are on the horizon. After using it for over a year, we've seen significant improvements in developer experience, which gives us confidence in their long-term vision and makes the partnership feel secure for the future.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

I don’t have any major complaints about DX — their support is consistently direct and fast, which makes working with the platform a smooth experience.

There are a few areas where enhancements could further improve things. For instance, it would be helpful if survey feedback from engineers were collected on an ongoing basis, allowing for continuous refinement of the surveys and a better overall experience.

Additionally, the triaging process could benefit from a feature that lets leads leave comments, offering more context or explanations for their decisions.

These are relatively minor suggestions, and overall, DX’s strong emphasis on team performance and developer experience is the main reason we continue to use the platform.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before we started using DX, we struggled with a fragmented view of developer experience and team health. Our survey results and metrics were dispersed across different sources, which made it difficult to pinpoint bottlenecks or track our progress over time. DX addresses this challenge by bringing together qualitative survey feedback and quantitative data, such as DORA and flow metrics, while also offering benchmarks and context that help turn insights into actionable steps.

Thanks to this, we are now able to prioritise improvements more effectively, monitor our progress, and make more informed decisions at both the team and leadership levels. Additionally, DX enables us to better engage our engineers by capturing their authentic experiences and using that feedback to drive meaningful change.

 ### 20. Intuitive tool that helps us uncover bottlenecks and drive better decisions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX makes it easy to dig into our processes and identify bottlenecks quickly. The ability to overlay team feedback with performance data gives us a clear picture of what’s really happening, which we couldn't do previously. I didn't expect it, but the Ask AI reporting has been especially valuable, allowing us to narrow down into exactly the data we care about without extra complexity or time of manually digging through data. The user interface is clean and intuitive, so adoption across the team has been smooth so far.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

So far we haven't had any issues or downsides that I would highlight.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us surface bottlenecks in the development process, track overall engineering improvements, and pinpoint where we have room for improvement. It made team discussions more objective and data-driven. It’s also proven valuable for monitoring and tracking long-term, high-level improvements and compiling data for board or organization-wide reporting. Individual teams can drill down to optimize their own workflows, something our previous tool didn’t support as effectively and one of the primary reasons why we moved to DX.

 ### 21. Excellent tooling for managers and leaders to understand how their company delivers work

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris W. | Senior Product Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

The survey tooling is powerful and easy to use. Survey Snapshots and Studies have allowed Lattice to gather valuable developer feedback over time, and they have allowed us to use that information to drive and measure changes to our devlepment workflows and tools.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Some of the Triage functionality could be improved to better align teams across the org and to better capture the issues that they flag as part of the Triage process.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps our business in a few ways. The primary way is by gathering data from our developers on a consistent cadence via Snapshots and Studies, which allow our leadership team to analyze and better understand the day-to-day challenges that developers face. We now have over two years of Snapshot data, which has been beneficial in tracking improvements that have been made through tooling changes and process updates, and the reporting features that we now have access to have helped inform our company roadmaps to maximize the benefits that our developers experience and to align our developer platform with the business goals of the company.

 ### 22. Indispensable everyday tool for an engineering team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

Our entire engineering org, especially Engineering Managers, use DX everyday.

The "Work log" report is a great way to visualize the individual day-to-day activities of all team members. Being able to click on each item and have it directly take you to a PR or ticket is convenient and efficient.

The "Breakdowns" report allows us to gain a holistic understanding of the impact of an IC or team. The ability to click into each metric to see the underlying PRs and tickets is a great feature.

The built in DX AI has been very useful to do ad hoc data investigations and easily gaining new insights. Secondarily, being able to take the queries written by the AI and turning it into a report is also time saver.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The UI can be a little overwhelming with the amount of data and different reports it throws at you.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us understand the impact each of our engineers and teams are making to the org. DX provides the consistent and transparent metrics that we can use to measure and communicate to all our teams. The data and reports DX provides makes sometimes difficult conversations much simpler, clear and consistent. It allows us to continuously set higher and higher goals for our organization.

 ### 23. Metrics and benchmarks I can actually use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Barry H. | VP, Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX is where I start my day. I can get a snapshot of what's in progress and see metrics across different teams. I no longer have to jump between tools. The surveys are specifically tailored for engineering teams with benchmarks against other companies. To be able to tie qualitative and quantitive metrics together in one UI is extremely useful. I also just want to call out how responsive the team and support are. It's been rare that we've had any issues, but the support team is top notch when we have. We also were part of one of their pilot programs and a suggestion I had in the morning was live in production before the end of the day.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

I don't have anything specific that I dislike. I would love to see them move a bit into the forecasting space.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use DX to keep a pulse on the health of the engineering team with the quarterly surveys, but also answers our needs for metrics around cycle time, delivery, and throughput.

 ### 24. Rapidly evolving developer experience platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX can quickly give you valuable and actionable insights into your developer experience challenges. You can use both qualitative methods (such as surveys) and quantitative metrics (for example, DORA).

The benchmarks provided by DX are also highly valuable and very difficult to gather on your own. While you could run a survey yourself, the real challenge lies in interpreting the results. DX helps with that.

I like having the ability to explore the data myself and build custom reports. It gives me a good opportunity for some hands-on work as a manager.

I also appreciate that DX is rapidly evolving. We started working with DX more than a year ago, and the progress they have made since then has been huge. This gives me confidence that the platform will continue to improve and reassures me about long-term collaboration.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

I don't have major points that I dislike, mostly areas for improvements.

For example, in some tools within DX (like Frontline), the focus can lean too much towards individual performance, such as the number of PRs each engineer merged last week.
Personally, I prefer to focus on team-level performance when using a tool like this.
I’d appreciate having the ability to customise the view to emphasise aggregate team performance.

That said, I don’t see this as a broader issue with DX. In fact, their strong focus on team performance was one of the main reasons we chose to work with them.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us identify bottlenecks in our software delivery processes, address them and improve efficiency of an engineering org.

 ### 25. Developer Voice Turned Into Engineering Impact, Thanks to DX

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cade G. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

I love that DX gives all our engineers a meaningful way to be heard. We mainly use DX for the snapshots and analyze that data provided in their dashboard. The survey is fairly quick and easy to complete, but the insights we get are anything but shallow. It prompts thoughtful, honest feedback that has sparked real, positive changes in our engineering org. For example, we have seen a significant increase in the quantity and quality of unit testing org wide. I also appreciate how we can track progress over time by comparing results quarter to quarter. The benchmarking against other companies is incredibly valuable to. It helps us understand where we stand and where we can grow, not just internally but across the industry. As a frontend engineer, I appreciate their commitment to a great user experience, modern user interface, and great product overall.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

There’s not much to dislike, but if I had to nitpick, I’d love to see more feature support for leaving feedback in different contexts. As companies grow, developer experience is shaped by more than just the immediate engineering team. It’s influenced by cross-functional work with product, design, and other engineering disciplines like frontend, backend, and platform. Without that context, feedback can feel a bit skewed and make it harder to pinpoint what’s truly working or needs improvement.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us identify what’s helping or hurting our engineering teams, especially things that often go unnoticed in the day-to-day. It surfaces trends around collaboration, tools, processes, and team health, giving us a data-backed way to prioritize improvements. Instead of guessing what’s broken or waiting for burnout, we can be proactive about creating a better developer experience. That’s led to real improvements in engagement, retention, and productivity across our teams.

 ### 26. Exceptional Engineering Analytics Platform - A Major Upgrade from Swarmia

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David F. | CEO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

After switching from Swarmia to DX earlier this year, I can confidently say this was one of our best tooling decisions. DX is head and shoulders above Swarmia in every aspect that matters - functionality, insights, and speed of development.

What's particularly impressive is their development velocity. In just the few months since we started using DX, they've rolled out numerous new features that directly address real-world engineering challenges. This isn't a stagnant tool - it's actively evolving based on user needs.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

There's nothing not to like with the product. The pricing could be more competitive but we think it still represents value for money.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform strikes an excellent balance between performance tracking and creating genuine channels for engineers to share their perspectives. Unlike other tools that can feel overly surveillance-focused, DX manages to provide valuable metrics while maintaining trust and transparency with development teams.

 ### 27. The best developer experience measurement tool on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan K. | CTO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

We love DX, and we have both qualitative (via quarterly surveys) and quantitative (via GitHub data) metrics in the same tool. We sunset the tool we used historically to track code output in favor of a single, unified platform. The AI-generated queries are a huge time saver, and make it easy to create ad hoc reports to answer questions you have about your dev team. The surveys are a critical input into our platform roadmap, and the ability to customize them and add questions relevant to our tools is huge. In my almost 20 year career this is the best tool I've used to measure and improve the developer experience.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

My only feedback/challenge is that there are a lot of reports and sections, and there is a lot of overlap across the reports and some duplication. I'd like to see DX be more opinionated about what the best metrics are, and guide users towards high value metrics and what they mean.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gathering input from developers on what they need to improve development velocity, and getting quantitative data on developer output.

 ### 28. Improved Visibility into DevOps, Support, and Resource Allocation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francesco D. | Head of Technology Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

As a Platform Engineering and Tech Operations leader, this level of insight is critical. It helped us identify inefficiencies in our CI/CD pipeline, spot issues in dev environments early, and better understand how much engineering effort was being spent on support versus product work. The integration was smooth, and the dashboards are intuitive and useful for both strategic planning and day-to-day decision-making.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Some metrics could benefit from more context or correlation capabilities — for example, being able to drill down from high-level trends to specific root causes more easily. Also, while the dashboards are generally intuitive, a bit more flexibility in customizing views or integrating with internal BI tools would enhance usability for larger teams with diverse needs. That said, the team at DX has been responsive to feedback, which is appreciated.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us understand where engineering time really goes.

 ### 29. GetDX: From Subjective to Strategic

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wyatt E. | Senior Engineering Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

Adopting GetDX has been a transformative step for our organization. It’s dramatically simplified how we report on and communicate developer productivity, which was once a recurring, challenging conversation steeped in subjectivity.

As a team that follows the advancement of industry research in this area, it’s reassuring to see the work of thought leaders like Nicole Forsgren, Jez Humble, and Margaret-Anne Storey directly inform the foundations and evolution of the DX platform. This credibility has been key in internal evangelization, enabling us to point internal stakeholders with a deeper interest to rigorous studies and comprehensive write-ups.

Importantly, as the platform continues to evolve, e.g. introduction of the Core 4, it hasn't necessitated major refactors to our integrations, allowing us to evolve with minimal overhead. Overall, DX has taken a large portion of the effort out of how we measure, communicate, and ultimately improve developer experience, and pushes us be more strategic and less reactive.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Snapshot Triage flow is not particularly useful. EMs find it confusing and the Studies feature suffices for followups. Team management could be more intuitive.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GetDX has solved the challenges of accurately measuring developer productivity, surfacing experience insights, and communicating engineering health across our organization. By combining system data with developer feedback, integrating fragmented tools, aligning with evolving research, and offering peer benchmarking, it has provided us with a unified, actionable view that is driving real improvements in productivity and engineering satisfaction.

 ### 30. Insightful, actionable to enable data driven leadership

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX has a raft of data points that help engineers, managers and senior leaders understand what is enabling engineers to perform but also identifies blockers that are slowing them down. It’s insightful and provides actionable features to continuously improve your organisation. The DX surveys enable fast feedback, the dashboards provide an easy view into the data that can be drilled into and I found the GitHub activity also really useful for managers when supporting and coaching engineers and how to improve flow of work.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

It was a fairly lengthy onboarding process and to begin with the many features available we didn’t use as we spent a lot of time getting to know how to use the DX survey basics. There were challenges around the metrics data as well, however the DX team are extremely helpful and efficient and we were always able to contact them and get swift support - this was also the case with feature enhancements we thought beneficial.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted a tool to enable us to improve developer experience, create viability of all the rich data we have across GitHub and other tooling to support us in identifying improvements we could make to flow. And we wanted data we could utilise to enable buy in from senior leaderships on improvements needed as well as data that demonstrated when improvements had been made for us to celebrate.

 ### 31. The best data-driven way to create world-class engineering teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mina T. | Director Of Operations, Marketing and Advertising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX helps us by offering both qualitative and quantitative ways to see the “whole picture” behind our engineering teams.

By following industry best practice we are able to measure just the right metrics to know where our teams need to improve.

Furthermore, our product teams are able to engage with the tool and run studies targeting different areas, groups, etc and get near-instant feedback from our developers.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Initially I found some data a bit difficult to find but after being enabled on Data Studio I found everything was pretty easy to learn about.

Folks not using Data Studio might have a bit of a challenging time finding exactly the user segments they want.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s giving me a dashboard into the developer pains across the organization which allows me to quantify those pains and prioritize different product efforts.

 ### 32. Communication is king

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas L. | Frontend Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

I love that DX gives a structure way of examining our practices, successes, and failures and compare them across time. Self-reflection is a core value of mine, and having a tool that can help us implement long term reflection has been huge. I like how clean and easy to use the the surveys are and that I can leave comments anonymously so I don't have to worry about the politics of work to express my opinions and experiences.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The post-survey review process is a little laborious. Navigating the UI to find comments on various subjects have occasionally proven challenging as some comments are put in different parts of the UI.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX provides a framework to review our engineering practices at a high level, provide feedback, and plan for change to improve how things work.

 ### 33. Great actionable qualitative and quantitative insight

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrian S. | Director of Engineering Effectiveness, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

After attempting to run an in-house developer survey in 2023 at significant cost, time investment and questionable value finding DX seemed like a godsend. Through a pilot and four subsequent snapshot iterations that have gained >90% participation and led to valuable and actionable insight the tool has more than proven itself.

Particular points of differentiation and value to us:

The flexibility to define actual team structures that represent how people collaborate and also democratise the ongoing maintenance of them.

The integration into MS Teams with thoughtful nudges for participation and followup that really help drive participation and avoid survey fatigue.

A continuing pace of product development that generally delights us with new capabilities and features.

The research-backed nature of the tool and focus on providing industry benchmarks and other ways to easily enable data to become insight.

Pro-active and responsive partnership from DX customer success and support teams.

It's early days for us expanding into the Data Cloud aspects but it appears that there has been a good degree of thoughtfulness around the flexibility to support different SDLC approaches and not enforce opinions.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Dislike is too strong, but some growing pains are:

Maintaining up to date and accurate contributor and team structures within DX are critical to success but could be made easier to achieve. There's a bit too much need for export/import of multiple CSVs and APIs are a still evolving.

Support for non-engineering job roles (e.g. Product Management, UX) could be better evolved. There's minimal support in terms of snapshot participation, but better representation of these people within teams is needed.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marrying quantitative and qualitative insight from software-based product engineering teams to help drive both local team improvement focus and provide product signal for centre-out tooling, platform and other initiatives.

 ### 34. Fundamental tool for engineering teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco Z. | Director of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

First and foremost DX is a tool for collecting qualitative and quantitative data about how the engineering function is performing. It uses curated easily accessible surveys, which are thoughtful of avoiding survey fatigue, and integrations with Slack, GitHub, ticket management systems, and deployment tracking, to build a really accurate picture of what are the major points of friction in your organisation, and how to best take action to tackle them. These integrations are seamless, particularly the automatic tracking of deployments.
The knowledge repository is super useful, but the crowning jewel is the AI query generator, which allows an engineering leader to ask questions about the team, and get really valuable insights.
The team at DX are great at providing support, being super responsive and helpful, even going to the extent of changing their feature backlog from feedback we provided to them.
As an intelligence tool, it is useful throughout the engineering cycle, and when used correctly can lead to real change to engineering joy and satisfaction, reduction of friction, and acceleration of development.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Getting it implemented in your team requires effort, as it is a culture change tool. Although the tool is great it does not help you in getting it being used strongly by the leaders in your organisation. So it would be helpful to have a more white glove approach to get implementation done right.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Understanding what engineers feel is blocking them from delivering
Understanding how the drivers to developer experience have been improving or getting worse, and comparing with industry benchmarks

 ### 35. Powerful platform for driving change

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Olya R. | Senior Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

This platform provides actionable insights into team health and trends, transforming anecdotal observations into data-driven decisions. It empowers us to identify bottlenecks, validate concerns, and pinpoint areas for improvement.

We've already leveraged its insights to:

Reduce engineering load: By increasing technical support.
Simplify core architecture: Through major refactoring projects.
Streamline workflows: By implementing process improvements in design and planning.

The DX platform fosters a culture of transparency and empowers our engineers and QA to voice their concerns. The robust querying tools enable teams and individuals to set data-driven goals and track progress. Additionally, frontline tools help tech leads efficiently manage pull requests, preventing stagnation.

I also love all of the recommendations to improve each driver, this makes it easy to action on the items in the snapshot.

It integrates with all of our code, CI tools and JIRA. It is very intuitive to navigate and use. I use certain features like frontline daily, and other features like team reports weekly to see if we are bottlenecking anywhere.

Whenever we have questions or concerns the DX team has been very responsive and helpful in resolving issues or providing alternatives.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The overall Engineering Developer Experience Index (DXI) exhibits significant quarter-to-quarter fluctuation, potentially influenced by recent events, both positive and negative. This is particularly true for events happening right before the survey goes out.

To gain a more stable and accurate understanding of our progress, it would be beneficial to visualize long-term trends in workflows and key drivers in one place somehow. I can see these trends for individual items, but it is sometimes much more helpful to look at several of these at a time, for the whole engineering org overall.

This would help us discern genuine directional shifts from temporary fluctuations, providing a clearer picture of sustained improvement.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX is helping us prioritize our efforts organization wide on the most impactful engineering problems. It helps inform our developer experience improvement roadmap, and allows each eng leader to have a pulse check on where each team is doing well vs where we are having issues. It allows us to make actionable changes based on data and feedback.

 ### 36. Best tool to capture metrics and sentiment from your engineering team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael K. | Engineering Manager, Web Platform, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

Where to even start? Take the best in developer experience tooling and surveys from research and other tech companies, and you will get DX.

- Surveys and the way you can slice and dice the data. Whether it's comments, trends, or heatmaps. The data will help your teams make targeted improvements. This will show up in your next survey. Ask me how I know!
- They have different features to get feedback such as Snapshots (quarterly, but can be changed up to you), Studies (sent manually), or PlatformX (real-time). This will help your teams know if the work they're doing is driving improvements.
- Atlas is a bunch of guides on signals and processes you're team should look for and try out if they want to improve certain parts of the development experience.
- Many more tools that are great!

DX is also fantastic with feedback. If there are small UX issues, they will often improve them within a week or two.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

It is difficult to get your organization to use DX without fully buying into it. Having a grass-roots movement is good, but to really get everything out of this tool, you'll need leadership buy-in.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us solve friction that developers face on a daily basis

 ### 37. Finally - a company and tool that really understands developer experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua M. | Head of Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX asks the right questions to get the best feedback and opportunities from my engineers. Each team loves the autonomy it provides. I'm amazed by their breadth of understanding through multiple features that expand well beyond the survey flow. Their knowledge about how to help improve developer experience is stunning. Tying quantitative and qualitative data together for teams to quickly identify next steps and act on them is exactly what I was looking for.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Any issue I've had with DX has been promptly addressed. Usually before I reach out to improve a feature, they've already got it on their backlog or it's already in progress.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX is empowering engineers and their teams to speak up about anything they're struggling with and helping them to resolve it on their own.

 ### 38. A crucial tool for understanding the health and efficiency of engineering

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX has been an extremely helpful feedback loop for our organization across the past year.

Prior to DX, understanding engineering pain points and successes were often guesstimations instead of being based on hard data.

Each quarter, we use both survey and other data as an overall health check for engineering. Some teams are using the "Frontline" feature on a more frequent basis to provide a high level understanding of what work is occurring within their team.

The overall experience of using DX has been pleasant. Integrations are simple to setup & setting up custom integrations are well documented. The UI/UX is well-thought and the large quantity of data available is organized. Customer support is also top-notch - often responding within under an hour and providing detailed explanations.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

DX does a great job at collecting a large degree of engineering data. There's so much data - that analysis and decision making feature-sets would be valuable for the product.

"Studies" - targeted on-demand surveys - is a great first step to improve the analysis feature-set. But being able to surface anomalies (whether improvements or regressions) would be a great boost in enabling organizations to focus on specific areas to make well informed decisions.

"Triage results" for the quarterly surveys/snapshots appears to be a preliminary feature-set in the decision making realm - but it isn't as feature-complete as the rest of the DX ecosystem.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Overall - DX is filling the gap of understanding wins & pain-paints within the developer experience so that engineering can be more efficient and effective in the long-run.

 ### 39. A Better Productivity Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX has provided a better tool for us to collect and process data around developer productivity. This is something we had built ourselves and done well enough for years, but DX elevated our process and reduced the work involved.

I like that out of the box it gives solid starting point, but we can also customize it to get feedback on what we need. The industry bookmarks and approaches to summarize the result additionally allow us to more easily get value out of it.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

There are some user beware moments that are easy to miss. Things like depending on your filters you may get very different results for something. For example for us we discovered contractors and FTEs had different topics for their top priorities, but if we ignored that filter we would have potentially gotten to the wrong conclusion.

More ability to help us think through the filters we should consider and more quickly get actions that affect a group beyond a team could be interesting.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Formalizing and streamlining collecting signal on productivity.

 ### 40. Helps Us Understand Our Developers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

The survey design process is smooth and intuitive, with a user-friendly UI that makes setup fast and frustration-free. The main thing about the design is - it's research driven. I also really value the benchmarking feature, being able to compare our results against peers adds meaningful context to the data. The delivery mechanism is very impressive, it significantly boosts response rates that everyone struggles with.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

DX is still maturing in a few areas: particularly in how results are explored in the dashboard. The data is all there, but it can sometimes feel like you need to dig around a bit to surface the specific insights you're looking for. That said, the team more than makes up for it by proactively sharing tailored reports that highlight the most relevant findings. Their support has been excellent, and they’re always open to feedback and quick to act on it.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us gather high-quality feedback directly from developers, a group that’s typically hard to engage through traditional survey channels. It solves the challenge of both targeting the right audience and getting meaningful response rates. The insights we get help us prioritize product decisions, validate ideas, and stay aligned with what developers actually need. It’s become a key part of how we stay user-informed.
Beyond standard surveys, we can run targeted studies that dive deeper into specific cohorts, whether it’s by role, the language they write in, team etc. This level of granularity has been incredibly valuable for shaping product strategy, messaging, and overall user understanding. It’s helped us move from assumptions to evidence-based decisions.

 ### 41. DX is an invaluable tool for platform product managers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

I am a product manager and the product lead for an internal developer platform supporting about 700 internal developers at a large media company. DX has become an invaluable tool to doing my job well, especially when I was the sole product manager for our platform engineering org. The fact that DX is designed by researchers means that I have a lot of confidence in how the questions are designed. DX as a tool is quite easy to use as an admin, so I spend nearly all of my time inside the tool benefitting from the insights it provides rather than having to configure it, etc.

I use the quarterly survey snapshots as a diagnosis tool, helping me to understand where my users (internal developers) are struggling and where they are well-served. I often then will use the DX Studies tool to send targeted studies to users to better understand pain points (for example, sending a few custom survey questions about slow pipelines to users who noted in the quarterly snapshot that their deployment lead times are particularly long, or sending a survey I created about IaC development only to users who report spending the majority of their time making infrastructure changes). My org is just starting to use DX's Platform X (just-in-time surveys triggered by user events) to understand how users are feeling right after they use a particular feature. As any product manager knows, user research is very time consuming. While I still make sure we perform some user interviews, DX adds so many extra user insights through the quarterly snapshots, custom studies, and just-in-time surveys that I otherwise may have missed.

A few other reasons that I am an evangelist for DX:
* When it came time to justify why we are prioritizing some outcomes over others, the DX quarterly survey data gave me some great data points to use ("we can stop prioritizing work towards improving quality and reliability, since we can see in DX that our quality score is far above the industry 90th, and developers are reporting very few incidents on the relevant DX question".
* At a certain point, the leader of my org needed to justify the value of Platform Engineering to company leadership. Because we had run about 7 quarterly snapshots at that point, he had lots of trend data from DX to show how much value we had delivered to users over the two years we had been collecting data (developer speed up, time loss per week down, etc).
* The DX team is unbelievably responsive. Not only are they consistently helpful and friendly, but when I have requested features or changes in DX, they are often completed, and quickly. Small UI requests are often shipped within a day or two, and larger requests have been implemented in a few weeks.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

I've encountered no true downsides of using DX. The biggest challenge is the bias people bring in about survey data versus systems data. When I was first introduced to the idea of DX, I had thoughts like "why would I trust a developer's estimation of deployment lead time when you can just measure it with Github events?" Through education from the DX team, I started to understand the issues with that perspective. First of all, developers are your users as a platform engineering org, and if they perceive deployment as slow, it doesn't really matter whether it really is or not, the perception has a large impact on the satisfaction/happiness of the developer who is feeling that. Also, for things like iteration cycle time, while you CAN perhaps measure it with things like Jira events, in reality that system data could be incredibly messy (different Jira practices across different developer teams, bad Jira hygene) and survey data could actually be giving you truer feedback. Thirdly, because it is so fast and easy to run the quarterly surveys through DX as well as the custom surveys through DX Studies, you can get lots of data covering a wide range of topics very quickly. This partly means that you can use DX as a diagnostic tool, to pinpoint which problem areas you should put time into getting systems data for. And it also means that you don't have to make the decision between waiting a month or more to get systems data or just moving forward on a project without any signal. Instead, you can use survey data to give you a decent signal and later refine that signal using systems data when it is finally available.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps me understand, as a product manager of an internal developer platform, which problems I should tackle. It saves me an enormous amount of time and gives me lots of data so I can make data-driven decisions. It also has helped me justify the value of the internal developer platform to company leadership, by being able to point to reported value from users (internal developers).

 ### 42. DX took our developer satisfaction surveys to the next level

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

After years of working in a Developer Productivity role, DX finally gives me the confidence to prioritise the right actions to fit our engineering needs.

After one year of using it regularly, I love how engagement continues to stay high. Usually people would get tired of quarterly surveys and participation eventually would go down. Additionally, observing trends (compared to previous snapshots or to industry standards) is extremely useful.

Another thing I like is how manual (user input) and automated data (GitHub, Datadog) are blended together offering a complete picture of our users sentiment.

The AI based data exploration opens the door to answer basically any question.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Without a proper user directory, at times we found it hard to put users in the right buckets (teams/groups).

Also it wasn't immediately easy (as with the rest of the features) to group feedback by the user profile (which tech stack they use).

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX enables us to understand where we need to improve (tooling, processes, interruptions) in order to boost developer productivity.

 ### 43. Getting meaningful visibility and driving DevEX with low efforts to start it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

- Seamless Implementation: DX made the integration into our whole software development setup very smooth. The documentation was clear, and the standard connections work very well out of the box. Getting started with DX was refreshingly simple. From initial setup to full deployment, everything was intuitive and required minimal overhead. It allowed our teams to focus on real value delivery instead of struggling through configuration hurdles.

- Excellent Customer Success Support: The support team at DX has been fantastic. They are always responsive, knowledgeable, and eager to help. Whether it’s a quick question or a deeper technical dive, they’ve consistently provided top-notch assistance.

-Core functionality and frontline: Beyond the core functionality, Frontline has been a standout feature. It’s been instrumental for our day-to-day operations, offering actionable insights and streamlining our workflows noticeably.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

- Metric Calculation Accuracy: We did encounter a few errors in the calculation of some metrics. While the DX team addressed these issues impressively fast, it was concerning that we were the ones to spot them. Had we not, these inaccuracies could have affected our reporting integrity.

- Best with Standard CI/CD Practices: DX shines when you’re working within standard software development workflows — CI/CD pipelines, labeling practices, etc. However, for teams with more customized or less conventional setups, it might require additional tweaking or could feel slightly restrictive.

- Pricing: The tooling is on the pricier side, so if you don't focus on it and treat it just "as another tool" you will not get out of it what you are paying for.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Understanding pain points in our software development flow.
- Understanding and measuring impact of certain initiatives.
- Not just systemic, but also subjective view from people working on problems really helps understand the gist better.
- Provides a platform for people to give very candid feedback on what works great and what works bad.
- Survey participation is really high through DX.

 ### 44. DX provides DX productivity data, insights and team tooling that is incomparably valuable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsey S. | VP, Eng, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

The premise that you can periodically ask your developers: "Do you feel productive?" and from there get all the info you need to make your team happier and more productive is profound. DX's surveys follow industry best practices for survey methodologies and analytics. DX has been an invaluable partner as we've grown our Eng org.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

Make more insights from connected services - aka more capabilities for insights around other work that Engineers engage in as part of their jobs (Slack, collab, incidents, etc.)

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How can I make my developers happier and more productive

 ### 45. Dx delivers unmatched developer insights with effortless setup—and stunning engagement at scale.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Gambling & Casinos | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

After nearly 2 years of quarterly surveys, we consistently achieve close to 100% response rates in a 1,500-person engineering org—proof that the tool resonates with developers. The setup was effortless, and integration was straightforward, syncing seamlessly with our existing workflows without heavy IT involvement.

Beyond the core features, the product’s evolving roadmap has been impressive—each quarter ticks more boxes, whether it’s deeper benchmarking, new survey flexibility, or sharper analytics. It’s clear the team listens to users.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

While the core metrics are excellent, I’d love more customisation in survey questions. That said, part of the brilliance of the product is that it keeps you on the straight-and-narrow: forming good questions is hard and that's what Dx is good at.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In a sprawling 1,500-person engineering org with fragmented tools, processes, and practices, we lacked a unified way to:

Measure developer experience objectively—sentiment was anecdotal, and priorities were guesswork.

Identify pain points at scale—localized issues (e.g., CI/CD friction, onboarding gaps) were invisible at the leadership level.

Benchmark against industry standards—we couldn’t tell if our struggles were unique or systemic.

How Dx Helps Us:

Data over hunches: Quarterly surveys (with 100% engagement!) spotlight actionable insights—e.g., "Tool X is costing Team Y 5h/week."

Prioritization made easy: Dx’s benchmarks reveal whether a problem is "just us" (fix now) or "everyone’s struggling" (fix strategically).

Trend tracking: Over 8 quarters, we’ve tied improvements (e.g., faster PR reviews) directly to survey score lifts—proving ROI on changes.

 ### 46. DX has given us the structure and insights necessary to improve our organization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

I like how DX is a central platform for qualitative and quantitative feedback on developer experience and how well our engineering organization is running. It has standardized and improved the quality of feedback we get from our engineers. This has allowed us to identify and solve problems with a higher degree of clarity and confidence.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

The only thing I find lacking is the Shortcut integration. I get the impression that it is not as well-integrated as other tools like Jira and Linear.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Provides a structured way to collect qualitative feedback from engineers which allows engineering leaders like myself to get data that helps guide how to improve our teams.
2. Provides a data platform that integrates with other tools which allows engineering leaders like myself to understand the metrics involved with engineering operations and how they correlate to developer experience and performance.
3. Provides tooling like Frontline and PlatformX that enhance certain engineering operations to make them more efficient leading to higher performance.

 ### 47. Great tool to support your DevEx initiative!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX provides significant expertise in advancing developer experience within an organization. They offer various methods, including a dedicated support team, tailored insights, and valuable reports. The standard reports are generally very useful, and the option to create custom reports is available if needed. It has been a crucial tool in developing our developer experience dashboards for our product and engineering groups. Leaders find it very user-friendly for understanding team operations, and the integration with a messaging platform is a definite advantage.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

When we began using this in 2024, we encountered some initial issues, such as user interface bugs and discrepancies in the background calculations for certain reports compared to other tools. However, their support and engineering teams consistently resolved these problems quickly, sometimes within hours. We commend their responsiveness.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX helps us quantify our productivity and identify our challenges with data. It definitely supports the development of a data-driven strategy. Additionally, it's a very useful tool for gaining insights into specific areas, such as the impact of generative AI tools or a comparison of performance between different teams.

 ### 48. Great tool to get a true picture of developer sentiment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dustin S. | Senior Director, Software Development, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

DX has been the absolute best way for us to give developers a forum for giving feedback on the developer experience. We can have all the internal meetings where we ask these questions, but DX provides a systematic way to collect, review, compare, and report on how our developers feel about their work.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

It can be hard to gauge how to respond to this. For example: if requirements quality is listed as a problem for our team, how do we properly handle that? Where does it lie? That requires more conversation with the team.

Or, sometimes context for a question is lacking. For example: "builds are slow" isn't super actionable. What's slow? Has it gotten slower? How is it compared to other teams' experience?

But, these things are true for all surveys and we're looking forward to working with the DX Data Cloud to help.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Engagement surveys are overly broad and don't speak to the developer experience. Internal working sessions don't get the level of depth and candor needed. All of that is incredibly hard to quantify. DX gives us the right information and a platform to evaluate and follow up on items uncovered by the surveys.

 ### 49. Clean and highly customizable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

The DX Data Studio is highly customizable, with DX offering strong support to make the data I need available in the tool. Their interface for writing queries is simple and clean. Even if I can't achieve what I hope within DX, I feel comfortable and confident reaching out to DX to get their support fulfilling what I need either from the existing data, or through additional configuration to fit my needs.

**What do you dislike about DX?**

At this time, I have not had much success with the DX AI giving me the results I'm looking for. Sometimes, I can take the generated query as a starting point and fix it, but the results are usually not the shape I expected (e.g. getting a single data series when asking for a breakdown of a metric per developer), or the query is generally unsuccessful (e.g. the results of the query are empty, or completely zeroed out). I believe the outcomes could be improved with more assistance and configuration from DX, but it doesn't give me the feeling of simplicity and independence I hope for with an AI tool.

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX gives me common metrics about my developers' activity, our workflow, and allows me to write additional custom queries for metrics I care about for my developers, or we care about for our team. I work on a mobile product, and some boxed reports are better suited to different deployment strategies, like that of a web application, but DX is willing to work with their users in mobile product development to understand and fulfill their needs. I also appreciate the tool having options to compare metrics to industry mobile developers only; this makes me feel like the mobile developer experience is considered and not alienated from the majority of developers.

 ### 50. An innovative company paving the way for developer experience insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2025

**What do you like best about DX?**

Their product is excellent, easy to use and configure. The company is really responsive to feedback. I've reported a couple of minor bugs which were resolved within 24 hours for example.
I like that most of the product is driven by research that the company leaders are advocating for through articles, podcasts and talks. This makes it really useful to talk about DX and their different frameworks in the company and convince leaders where I work to use DX as a source of insights to improve our engineering org.
Finally, their account managers are super chilled, not pushy and very responsive which makes for a very healthy relationship (and not one that feels like infinite sales pitches).

**What do you dislike about DX?**

I'd say that one downside of DX is that you need a fair amount of effort to integrate all your systems with DX to get to a level where you get great value for the money you spend.
While the integrations are very straightforward on the technical side, it always need collaboration and discussion within my regulated company to enable, and only after I've integrated 5-6 tools do I feel that I reach the potential of the tool. So if you go with DX, make sure to have capacity to properly integrate it!

**What problems is DX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DX gives leaders at my company insights as to how our engineering organisation is doing, where we should invest and allows us to capture great feedback from other engineers in one place.
