"A great tool for managing complexity in a product"

4/5

What do you like best about Duro?

Duro quickly allowed us to get a handle on our electronics Bill of Materials and understand the parts used across the full product bill of materials instead of just looking at a board or assembly level. The integrations to pull pricing information for electronics are also great for understanding costs quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

The electronics pricing information that is pulled automatically lacks options to change part numbers after the fact and select specific distributors. The BOM export for electronics also is not quite setup in a way that matches what we would normally provide to our manufacturing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Duro helps to automate our release process and remove steps of manual review and release that were previously error prone. It also gives us a much better high level look at all the components involved in creating our product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome Lightweight PLM!"

5/5

What do you like best about Duro?

Duro is a great lightweight, easy-to-use PLM tool.

I would highly recommend this tool to anyone as their first PLM to scale their engineering org.

- EE items, the MPN auto-match feature is great and is a huge time saver!

- Intergrations are included with the enterprise plan, with no hidden add-ons or 3rd party finger-pointing.

- Duro is fast to set up, and the interface is simple and user-friendly for quick team onboarding; if you're looking for TeamCenter, Arena, Windchill, etc level feature set, just get one of those tools and spend ~6 months setting up and training team members and 2-3x the license cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

Duro is an excellent fit for small to mid-scale teams, but it may not include all the bells and whistles of other tools. I would suggest researching the features you need and check with the Duro team, as new features are released often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Part Number, BOM, ECO, Integrate with CAD and MES tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent PLM solution"

5/5

What do you like best about Duro?

Duro's web interface is sleek and intuitive, with multiple options for creating or adding to a component database. Their Solidworks integration allows for seamless linking of existing CAD files to the web database, and their change order system automates what used to be a tedious and paperwork-intensive process into a few simple clicks. The most impressive part, however, had been the white glove handing of the migration process. Duro's staff has been nothing short of amazing during onboarding, often answering email questions in a matter of minutes. Kellan and Merritt have shown repeatedly that they not only value our time as much as we do, but that they understand how messy the switch to a new platform can be and are willing to entertain client-side suggestions to smooth the process- even for unique use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

At this point, any of my concerns about using Duro involve issues tied to using generic PDM (Box) storage and are already on Duro's radar to be solved when they release their own PDM solution. Things like how certain documents are updated on the web side after being generated during a release might be short term annoyances (and these are issues that we have simple solutions for), but they are far outweighed by the value Duro brings to streamlining so many other aspects of our PLM needs. It's a great platform with the promise to be an even greater complete product management solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Duro streamlines our change order process, allows us to easily access information about even the largest assemblies in one place, generate complete design package documentation with only a few clicks, and loop our contract manufacturers into our internal change orders. "Developing product with excellent assistance"

4/5

What do you like best about Duro?

Duro is convenient for managing the product tree within my organisation. Their integration with Onshape (whilst initially fraught with bugs) now functions very well and minimises the data entry aspect of my job. Duro is extremely responsive to support requests and I appreciate the level and speed of communication on certain issues. I like how I can access duro from a range of devices, including my mobile phone for easy change order review. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

Duro is still in its early stages so it lacks certain features that my team desires. However, they are working on solutions to many of these feature requests and keep us updated on their timelines. I appreciate the responsiveness of the software development team - something you don't really get with larger, more established PLM software. Duro initially had a really hard time getting the solidworks plugin to work, which was quite frustrating. This has now been rectified after working closely with us to identify the root causes and supply the product we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Duro is helping us organise and maintain our product architecture. It is easy to submit change orders and keep track of revisions. I appreciate how this product has integrated into my workflow. For example, we wish to have better raw material tracking and cost rolling up in duro. Currently, duro is only able to collect price data per item. This doesn't account for a case where we purchase raw material, and then pay a manufacturing cost. Duro is working to be able to roll-up these two separate costs into one single part cost. "My Experience with Duro as a recent Graduate"

3/5

What do you like best about Duro?

The unified part number generation has been useful and allows for easy tracking of parts and inventory. The revision control is very helpful and integrates well with our workflow. I also appreciate the UI layout, it is very intuitive and has good visual appeal. As someone who hasnt used other PDM software apart from Solidworks PDM, I find it generally quite reasonable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

The integration with Onshape releases and Solidworks has had occasional issues. Also, the revisioning of uploaded documents should be added to the file name automatically upon export to increase clarity. Ability to search for components could be improved by allowing more granular searching. Duro needs to allow for different currencies in the Sourcing information and allow for links between components to be used as EID. There are many components that are manufactured from existing components in Duro that should be better linked to increase clarity for supply chain and production. Ocassional downtime has impacted our productivity, however Duro has always responded quickly do our issues and helped address complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Duro is helping solve our PDM shortage by allowing easy access to our product tree and components. Productivity with Duro is limited by the administrative burdon however this has improved recently. Duro has helped build the product tree and track component price at a subsystem level. Ability to generate part numbers quickly and easily and ensure that all items have a standardised naming convention has been a big improvement to our workshop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I would recommend Duro for companies that are not looking to progress as fast as we are."

2/5

What do you like best about Duro?

The most useful part of Duro is the onshape integration when it is working as it reduces manual data entry that is required for solidworks use. Being able to pull part numbers and having some CAD data flow across is handy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

The amount of manual data entry that is required to complete all the different fields that are not pulled from CAD. Along with this is the endless number of minor bugs that make the usability annoying and time consuming. These bugs seem like they would be easily picked up in basic QA. For example, when you spend more than 5 mins with an open page editing the part and you are made to do a mandatory refresh losing all your work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Duro is solving the fact that we use multiple CAD programs and can't use an integrated PLM software, it also removes the need for local storage of the data. However, the security concerns of this are sometimes worrying. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Thank you very much for your feedback. As a co-founder of Duro I want to apologize for the issues you’ve encountered and let you know that we are taking measurable actions to address all of the issues you've listed. Please always feel free to reach out to us directly at help@durolabs.co or use our integrated ticketing system.

Here are some of the ways we’re addressing the issues you’ve described:

Usability - We are actively addressing all reported performance, UI and usability issues, all of which are the result of quickly adding features to keep up with customer demand. Since this review was submitted we’ve already made great progress in optimizing a number of different systems that impact performance and usability. We are excited for these updates to go live soon.

CAD integrations - We’re happy to hear that you’re having success with our Onshape integration. Further enhancements to that integration are going live soon. Regarding our SolidWorks integration, our CAD plugin team has been working to release an update that will permanently resolve issues with the plugin performance for large assemblies as well as address issues common in older versions of SolidWorks. Please note that challenges may occur when customers use older versions of SolidWorks CAD that Duro doesn't formally support. Likewise, some Dassault products, like SolidWorks PDM Standard, do not support 3rd party integrations, at all. Duro follows industry standards of supporting up to 3 years of CAD software releases, or more specifically, SolidWorks CAD 2019 or newer.

Hopefully this information helps provide you the confidence that our team is committed to improving your experience. As mentioned above please reach out to us directly (help@durolabs.co) and we'll be happy to further communicate the progress we've made addressing the issues you've listed. Thanks!

"Switching from Duro to an alternative PLM software would save me 1 day a week of manual data entry."

0/5

What do you like best about Duro?

The ECO process is acceptable once you know what you are doing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

- Solidworks CAD integration is not functional, our team has been unable to login without crashing solidworks for months. Some people have recently been able to get passed login, but no-one has managed to get to the release process in Solidworks. BOM import consistently generates duplicate parts (especially fasteners).

- Lack of CAD integration means that the only real way to work with Duro is to manually build the EBOM and MBOM in duro after the design work is complete, which is very time consuming and means there is lag between a design being completed and mass and cost being visible to high level management.

- Sourcing is nonsensical for custom parts. It is currently not possible to add sales tax or currency to prices in Duro, which causes issues when the data is synced to other purchasing tools.

- Web interface is full of unresolved bugs. The most painful over the last couple of months have been Duro forcing a refresh and deleting all unsaved work at 5 - 10 min intervals, and the insertion of ".00" if prices are typed in in less than 2 seconds. Some of these bugs were reported a year ago and are yet to be fixed.

- Web interterface is laggy. I spend hours each week waiting for Duro to save or validate each manually entered field.

- Part categories cannot be customisated and have some semi-duplicated categories such as pins (465) and dowels (456), bolts (411) and fasteners (457)

The result of the above issues is that I spend a day a week entering data manually into Duro, dealing with duplicate parts, and slowly entering sourcing information that I know is of little value to the purchasing department.

I see very few use cases where Duro is the right tool for the job - for management of complex products, Duro is inadequate and significant time must be spent solving problems and limitations relating to Duro rather than working on the development of the product. For simpler applications where the scale is more appropriate for Duros capability (e.g. a product that is an assembly of COTS parts only), an excel spreadsheet would be a compelling alternative. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Having Duro is better than having no PLM software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As a co-founder of Duro, I want to express my gratitude for your feedback. I also want to apologize on behalf of our team for an experience that has not met your expectations. We at Duro are committed to providing the best PLM solution on the market. We’re also committed to resolving your issues as soon as possible, so please always feel free to reach out to us directly at help@durolabs.co or use our integrated ticketing system.

Here are some of the ways we’re addressing the issues you’ve described:

SolidWorks integration - Challenges may occur when customers use older versions of SolidWorks CAD that Duro doesn't formally support. Likewise, some Dassault products, like SolidWorks PDM Standard, do not support 3rd party integrations, at all. Duro follows industry standards of supporting up to 3 years of CAD software releases, or more specifically, SolidWorks CAD 2019 or newer. Our CAD plugin team is already working to release an update that will permanently resolve issues with the plugin performance for large assemblies as well as address issues common in older versions of SolidWorks.

Part categories - Part categories are fully adjustable. However, in order to preserve the benefits of our underlying automation we handle category adjustments for our customers. You can simply submit a help desk ticket requesting part category changes and our team will update your account, accordingly.

Web interface - is an ongoing area of improvement. As a fast growing company, quickly adding features to keep up with customer demand, sometimes we break things. We are working hard to meet and exceed your expectations. We admittedly can do better at addressing UI performance issues and have committed to doing so. We have recently been working on a revised architecture that will drastically improve UI performance as well as Duro’s capacity to deliver features faster. We are excited to get this out to our customers, as soon as possible.

Hopefully this information helps deliver you the confidence that you are both heard and that our team is committed to improving your experience.

"Overall, Duro has been a positive addition!"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Duro?

Throughout my time using Duro, there have been several aspects that I have found beneficial to use:

1) Its user interface is easy to grasp and navigate.

2) The integration with electronic manufacturers makes generating part numbers in a BoM extremely quick & easy but also provides a range of suppliers that might be more suitable.

3) The system in place ensures no duplication of parts is ever possible.

4) Technical support is easily accessible by either email or Duro's online forum. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

Some areas in which I would appreciate Durolabs improving on are:

1) Having the option to provide costings in different currencies. Currently, only one price in USD is permitted, which can ultimately give a slight inaccuracy to what a product's final cost is.

2) Not having the import from vendor feature for all mechanical parts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Duro provides a suitable and efficient PLM system used daily to create, maintain and update many BoM's at any given time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface and general user experience is intuitive and easy to use. The BOM structuring is sensible, and all information can usually be found where you expect it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Duro?

There are some major features missing (like selection of and conversion between different currencies), and some odd interface issues (material label obscured despite plenty of page space). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?

The integrations with other software have been problematic. There have been instances where Duro was unwilling to fix integration issues that clearly originated on their side. For example the BOM export option could only export xlsx projects where the obvious agnostic format for integrations to other software is CSV. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
