“Easiest and Most Comprehensive BI on the Market”

What do you like best?

How easy and flexible it is. You can do just about anything with this software, not just graphs and dashboards from data in a database.

What do you dislike?

I can't think of anything we don't like about it so far. We've been using it a couple of years now and have zero complaints, even their support staff is fantastic.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Try it and see for yourselves, it's so easy to use and if you can't figure it out support answers emails incredibly fast, plus they have a lot of information on line and tutorial videos

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have data scattered all over the place in different databases. We were replicating all of them to a datawarehouse and then writing hundreds of queries, most of them exactly the same except for one or two fields, and using MS Report. With Dundas everyone can change the reports to what they want to see, drill down (which they couldn't do before), and basically free us up to do more software development.

See what Dundas BI can do for your business.

“Up and Running Fast, Lots of Features, Great Support and Plenty of Training Opportunities”

Copy Review URL

What do you like best?

We were very impressed by the ease of set up, how quickly we were able to produce great visualizations, and the pricing is very flexible and reasonable. The initial setup support was great and getting up and running took just a few hours, including exposing to external connections.

What do you dislike?

Although the dashboard development process is a breeze, the text reporting development tools require a large time investment. We were hoping to stop using SSRS by the end of next year, but that may not be feasible.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Get a demo and a quote from Dundas before you make any decisions. Don't just read standard user reviews, check out professional reviewers like Jen Underwood, too.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Our number one need is for executive dashboards. Leaders need to see business results anytime, anywhere and tend to stress the BI team with ad hoc report requests. By giving them drillable dashboards they can get a lot more of what they need with a few clicks. When they need something new, we can spin up a specialized dashboard within a few hours. With the flexible licensing model, we will also be rolling this out to operations-level supervisors and managers in the near future. We also have begun to embed the visualizations into customer-facing dashboards within our museum. Another great feature that we will implement at the operations level is conditional alerts. In the future we will also give access to administrative assistants to create visualizations directly from Excel data.

“Easy to use.”

What do you like best?

Dashboard designer is very intuitive. It can be as simple or as complicated as you need. The ability to use code in the dashboard provides some extra features not available in the UI.

The use of data connectors and data cubes allows for easy manipulation of different data sources without requiring a complicated ETL on the backend. Ability to combine SQL data with Excel data and SharePoint data, with drag and drop functionality, opens up many possibilities for analyzing data across the organization.

What do you dislike?

I actually haven't found anything that I dislike so far. We previously used Dundas Dashboard and were very happy with it. DundasBI is a natural progression and has most of the same functionality but is able to be used in any browser.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The need for enterprise reporting. Grabbing data from multiple system and displaying actionable intelligence for our teams

What do you like best?

Dundas BI allows us to consolidate information from all kinds of sources, all into one beautiful looking tool.

What do you dislike?

To get the most out of it, some coding can be helpful.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you're looking for something that looks incredible, and won't tie your hands, this is it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are providing real time consolidated information to our production floor in the form of dashboards. The new dashboards are actionable, and are truly driving performance.

“Great mix of functionality and ease of use!”

Copy Review URL

What do you like best?

The support is good and usually responsive. You don't have to be a javascript or coding expert to created fantastic visualizations out of the box. However, you can expand on the native functionality by javascript and C# code if you are so inclined. Very flexible and mostly intuitive to use.

What do you dislike?

When getting into the visualization creation a bit deeper, you can find occasions where the visualizations do unexpected things. There is normally a very good reason for the actions, but it can be difficult to figure out without calling or emailing support. Because the product is so robust and feature rich, there is a semi-steep, yet short, learning curve for new users.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have a vast collection of business data and have never had a visual way to represent this data that isn't excel based or static report based (i.e. SSRS). This allows us to provide these easily consumable data visualizations to our internal and external customers in a relatively short timeline.

“Nearly Perfect.”

Copy Review URL

What do you like best?

The flexibility and easy of use the platform provides.

What do you dislike?

The python/R integration could be a bit easier to develop in, but this is not a deal breaker. My workflow usually consists of developing modules in PyCharm, kicking off our CI and installing the updated module on the dundas server via pip. From here its pretty easy to pull in with minimal code needing to be written in the UI.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Explore the flexibility of the dashboard designer, it really makes it easy to creatively solve ease of use topics for your data consumers, quickly and concisely.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data visualization is easy and flexible in Dundas, but I think the real win is how powerful an alternative it is to random excel spreadsheets, it's actually slowly convincing our excel power users.

“Review of Dundas BI”

Copy Review URL

What do you like best?

The flexibility of Dundas is amazing. It can do just about anything you want to a visualization. It is also performs as fast as you would want a visualization tool to perform. It has just about every type of visualization you could want and it has the ability to use third party tools for those that are not yet included. It has interfaces to R and Python which helps with the whole data science workflow if needed.

What do you dislike?

With so much flexibility comes a concern about should you do something just because you can. The learning curve is steep. I wish the ETL layer were more robust than it is, I am used to using Alteryx and Dundas has a way to go before it gets to that level.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Ensure that you have your requirements clearly defined as Dundas can do so much that you need to focus on building the boat instead of just sailing the ocean.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Timely and easy to understand business positions. People now have the ability to make decisions based upon clean and timely data. We now also have the ability to build a "Customer 360" view in one place because of the ability of Dundas to import data from our disparate data sources into one place.
