From what I can tell, Drupal isn't as supported as much as platforms like WordPress, so finding templates and help information is harder with Drupal. Drupal is far more flexible than any other CMS I've ever used. You can build pretty much anything with it if you apply best practices and sensible architecture. People say Drupal is complicated but they are referring to the developer experience. Drupal has a steep learning curve for developers so when it comes to really customising the framework for specific needs you'll need knowledgable developers at your disposal. This can make working with Drupal expensive but the results are usually worth the investment. Drupal also has a smaller community than that of Wordpress which again compounds the cost issues. We build enterprise scale software and websites with Drupal. Our entire business is built on the foundation that Drupal provides. Drupal has allowed us to rapidly build enterprise grade software instead of spending years slogging away at entirely custom solutions. We've built an extensive portfolio of marketing sites with complex integrations and analytics as well as extranet software for improve the working lives of thousands of people. Drupal allows us to get solutions to market much more quickly than when we built everything from custom code and therefore allows us to help larger clients to save money, but projects have to be of an adequate size to justify the use of Drupal. Drupal has a huge library of website components that we can use that are free. There are also ways to get fancier components for a fee from external developers. I like being able to add other users to a Drupal project so they can log in and make changes as needed. What do you like best about Drupal?

Compared to WordPress, which seems to be one of the more popular open source content management systems, Drupal has far more flexibility due to its core database and PHP structure and is geared more for complete website designing and not as much for blogs like WordPress. I like that I can adjust panels in an intuitive way with visual editing tools and connect components without many compatibility issues. Many of the templates that are available from the Drupal community and through web template websites are of high professional quality and don't typically cost that much. Since there are more components involved in Drupal compared to WordPress, I don't think Drupal is the type of web development platform that is better for getting a website created the fastest. In many cases, there are more programming requirements demanded from the user in order to configure their website to exacting specifications. We are able to use Drupal to develop quality websites for a relatively low price. The core software doesn't cost anything and we only spend money for work time committed to developing the website. It is very bare out of the box; you will need heavy customisation to make it do what you want, unlike other user friendly systems like WordPress. The rich text editor is not as good, missing many functions and usability. Most of the useful functionalities have to be added in via modules, but the modules are hard to find and support is even harder to find. It is not as easy as WordPress plugins.
