I like how DroneDeploy puts all of our captured data on one unified platform, making it easy to find and readable, with everything hosted in one spot. What I like most about DroneDeploy is that they listen to their customers and take feedback seriously, usually incorporating the most requested features into their product within a year or two. What do you dislike about DroneDeploy? My current complaint is the DroneDeploy app on the DJI Mavic 4 Enterprise remote controller. When I hit start flight, go through the preflight checklist, it tells me collision detection is disabled. DroneDeploy is very user friendly and easy to integrate with. It's very easy to teach the client how to use the software, and being one of the only shareable platforms out there, it sets itself apart from everything else in the marketplace. The software lets me use a 3D model to look throughout a roof and annotate it in the software, which is by far an outstanding feature for my clients. I worked with RLB Architects on a full facility management capture of Bristol Royal Infirmary, capturing the whole site, facades, and all the critical walkways with 360 cameras. This allowed the architects to investigate and inspect for hazards, trips, falls, and cracked pavements, and helped them find 700 plus defects on site so the maintenance team could make urgent repairs. The company is very forward thinking, and whenever I would like something in the system, they work on it and it happens. The template platform is just so easy, it's like the difference between being an Apple user or using Microsoft, the commands are so easy and it's really easy to pick up. The original installation and understanding of the product has been really, really easy. It's the best product in the marketplace, and the service and support are phenomenal. DroneDeploy is incredibly easy to use and makes aerial mapping straightforward even for new pilots. The platform is intuitive, fast, and reliable — from flight planning to generating high‑quality maps and 3D models. The integrations with construction tools like Procore and Autodesk are a major advantage, and the ability to combine drone imagery with 360° walkthroughs gives our team a complete, accurate picture of the jobsite. I also really like the Safety AI feature. I’ve used it on multiple projects and incorporated the insights into subcontractor and owner meetings. The visual safety callouts make it much easier to communicate site conditions, and owners consistently appreciate how clear and data‑driven the updates are. It adds a level of transparency and professionalism that’s hard to achieve with traditional reporting. What stands out even more is the level of support and onboarding I’ve received. Shoutout to Ashley Hanson, Nick Boone, Trevor and Tripp. The DroneDeploy team has been outstanding — responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping us get the most out of the platform. What do you dislike about DroneDeploy? DroneDeploy is a powerful platform, but the biggest challenge is the cost. The pricing structure can be high, especially for teams that need multiple seats or advanced features. Some of the more complex workflows—like accuracy tuning, GCP management, or large-model processing—also require a learning curve. Additionally, cloud processing can occasionally be slow during peak times, which impacts quick-turn deliverables. DroneDeploy helps us solve several key challenges in construction by giving us a reliable, visual way to document site conditions and track progress. Before using DroneDeploy, progress updates were mostly based on photos, written notes, and manual walkthroughs, which made it harder to communicate issues clearly and consistently. With DroneDeploy, we can capture accurate aerial maps, 3D models, and 360° walkthroughs that show exactly what’s happening on the jobsite. This has significantly improved how we communicate with subcontractors and owners. The Safety AI feature has been especially valuable. It automatically identifies potential safety concerns and highlights them visually, which I’ve used in subcontractor and owner meetings to provide clear, data‑driven updates. Owners appreciate the transparency and the visuals—they can see real conditions instead of relying on verbal descriptions. This has strengthened trust and made our progress reporting more professional and easier to understand. My main issue is that when the drone needs a battery swap mid-operation, I often cannot continue the operation. I can overlay as-built drawings or future design drawings onto our current construction site, which helps in making better decisions and planning ahead.
