Drivetrain is an excellent tool that helps me track and be on top of our book of business. It allows me to quickly check actuals vs forecasts, and collaborate with other departments on planning. Since this tool is highly customizable I can accurately forecast renewals and expansions. The capability to integrate with applications like Salesforce and other has reduced time and effort. I think there's 3 areas that Drivetrain has improved my workflow:

a. external reporting - all the metrics are pre-calcuated and loaded upon the close of my financials. The way metrics are calculated are also super streamlined where if we switch up how one thing is calculated, it will update everything else. The best way I would describe it is a very well built excel model (with all the bells + whistles you usually don't have the patience to add)

b. internal access - budget vs. actuals is super easy to do and split by department. You can also easily switch who has access to what reports which makes sharing a breeze

c. great visualizations - the charts are really nifty, great for storytelling, and easy to build Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

NGL implementation was painful and I wanted to bail out at certain points. The implementation team is fantastic and super patient - the bottleneck is really on creating the bandwidth on your side. Their team will do a lot of the heavy lifting on getting your model in the system, but to truly understand how the platform works and become a power user takes time. Only tool we evaluated whose claim of data imports and consolidation is quick and actually brings in the data in the format we want. Creating metrics from the datasets is straight forward. Also, I can immediately add them to reports. Adding new users to different reports and models is easy to setup—this was important as we wanted to bring our entire S&M team into Drivetrain for tracking budgets and targets. They will claim if you know Excel, you can start using Drivetrain immediately... The familiarity ends with the DAX syntax and a pivot table like interface for creating custom metrics. You definitely need a good couple of days before you get comfortable and use it on your own. Drivetrain is able to support many types of data structures and data sources. If you can be accurate with your forecasting in excel, you will love Drivetrain. Flexibility of Excel, but hosted in the cloud - permissions, users, flexible reports, etc. The team behind Drivetrain are moving very fast and coming up with exciting features regularly. The Drivetrain team tells me some exciting improvements are coming regarding employee and vendor lists. The way we have built our model, it can be time consuming to update the employee roster and reload the CSV. But it's similar to what we were used to in excel for this point. We have seamlessly integrated our Quickbooks, Chargebee, Hubspot, and Gusto data into Drivetrain, significantly expediting the model creation process.
