## DraftSight Reviews
  ### 1. Familiar in interface and feature.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fikri F. | SPPID Administrator, Construction, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2014

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

Rich on feature, on no trial time limit in their free version and even optimal feature in pro version

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

Lagging when working with many hatch objects in a drawing
Can't find Dynamic Component feature & No multiple lines feature in attribute text
Cannot find Block Attribute value extraction
Should be nice if there is improvements in Alias editing and Profile export-Import

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quite useful for most is from home/social organization use, and ready for industrial purpose

  ### 2. Great product for editing older autocad drawings.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David N. | Application Engineer, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2015

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

It is very easy to use for making new drawings, and this program allows you to use all the AutoCAD shortcut keys as well.

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

Some of the menu locations are different than where they are located in AutoCAD.

**Recommendations to others considering DraftSight:**

This is a great tool for being free.

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great conversion tool for making dxf's and also to update old autocad drawings that are not in 3D.

  ### 3. I have replaced AutoCad with Draftsight for most tasks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan A. | Director of Design Technology, Architecture & Planning, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2015

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

Simplicity and ease of use. It can do ALMOST everything AutoCad can do for a fraction of the price.

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

The scripting interface and back end programmability is limited.

**Recommendations to others considering DraftSight:**

If you are an AutoCad user looking for a cheaper alternative and don't have a library of automation scripts to run AutoCad, this is a great option.

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Individual shop drawings, detail drawings, sketches, drawing review.

  ### 4. DraftSight

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Machinery | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2015

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

DraftSight is very easy to use for all different skill levels. It works very well when viewing DWG files. Simple to understand and navigate.

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

I have noticed the application to freeze up and at times crash when too many files are already opened up. My only other concern is the massive amount of spam emails that come through since signing up for this application.

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software is used mostly to pull up our CAD drawings and save changes for operational manuals. This application works very well when compared to past versions used.

  ### 5. DraftSight is a very viable replacement for Autocad

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Maritime | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2015

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

The free aspect of the software is what I like best. This keeps our cost for software down to a minimum. while still giving us access to our legacy data.

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

There are a few few things that are different from traditional Autocad but nothing that I would consider a dislike.

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DraftSight has enabled us to still create and edit 2d CNC files and give us access to legacy data without incurring the additional cost of licensing.

  ### 6. Everything you need for simple engineering drawings - for free!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2015

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

It's free. That's why I originally downloaded it and it works for everything I need. I'm glad that it can handle a sufficient number of drawing formats. Also, it is easy to use immediately after download, no learning curve.

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

I only use DraftSight for extremely simple application. There are no negatives.

**Recommendations to others considering DraftSight:**

This is not a full featured application, but simply a bare bones drawing application for easy use.

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Draftsight has been used in a small company (<10 people) to produce simple manufacturing drawings. Our budget did not allow room for more advanced (unnecessary) drawing software. Draftsight has fulfilled our needs for free.

  ### 7. DraftSight has flaws but gets the job done.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Renewables & Environment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2015

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

DraftSight allows easy access and modification to common dxf and dwg files when other CAD applications may have complicated interfaces to deal with legacy files.

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

The program can be glitchy and crashes repeatedly with certain drawings.

**Recommendations to others considering DraftSight:**

DraftSight handles 2D CAD with an AUTOCAD style command line and 3D CAD style push-button interface for ease of use, but be sure to save often when manipulating others' files to ensure a crash does not delete your data.

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to common 2D CAD files to translate information between users of various 3D CAD systems.

  ### 8. A free AutoCAD LT clone that runs on Windows, Linux and OSX

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan B. | sr. BIM Manager, Information Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2014

**What do you like best about DraftSight?**

The software is free to use (after online activation), is cross-platform (Linux, OSX and Windows are supported - quite rare still) and focuses on AutoCAD DWG compatibility.
It resembles early versions of AutoCAD and can be a good alternative for the quite expensive AutoCAD LT or AutoCAD Full version.

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

The OSX version is still labeled "beta" and as a result has a non-commercial license!
Focusing on mimicking an old version of AutoCAD is like living in the past. They should focus on providing something of their own, that sets them apart.

**Recommendations to others considering DraftSight:**

If you need some 2D CAD drafting licenses and don't like the price or policies of Autodesk, you can take a look at Draftsight. For enterprises, it can make more sense to buy an enterprise package or switch to AutoCAD LT.

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A more lightweight alternative to AutoCAD, which I use sometimes to check DWG files exported from my regular BIM software.

  ### 9. All the basic 2D tools for DWG creation and editing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

* DraftSight is free, extra productivity features and services are available for a low price with Packs and Plugins
* Easy transition for AutoCAD users: Similar look and feel
* Nice set of features to create and modify drawings in 2D
* Maximum compatibility with DWG: DraftSight is also using DWG as its native file format
* Available in 14 languages, including all the help files are translated. You can switch from one language to another at anytime
* Available for Windows, Mac and Linux
* Tip & Tricks videos

**What do you dislike about DraftSight?**

* Programming languages and some productivity features are only available if you buy Packs and Plugins

**What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Drawings creation and modification
