In my experience, DraftSight performs very well with professional DWG files, even up to large sizes. Its dark and light UI options also make it more comfortable to work with for long periods of time. We decided to use Draftsight to replace AutoCAD as our autoCAD licensing was costing us a fortune and we can do the same things with Draftsight, so the best feature of Draftsight for us, is the price. The other people that I work with use SolidWorks which is way more than what I need. I was using AutoCAD every day to accomplish my 2D projects. The fact that it works with AutoCAD files is definitely a plus. I myself have not had the need to contact Customer Service but others at my office have and expressed that it was a nice experience. They were treated like a person and things were explained so that they could understand. It was easy to get started using DraftSight since it was similar to AutoCAD. This saves a lot of time from having to completely learn something new. The layout is simple and easy to use. I am a clinging-on DraftSight Standard user but even without the additional features of Professional I do find the software very capable and generally a pleasure to use. Particularly after dabbling with less serious cheap/free CAD alternatives in the past. I came to DS from AutoCAD LT doing mainly HVAC layouts and sections. Having learned a fair bit of the AutoCAD command-line syntax I really appreciated the highly transferrable skills when moving to DraftSight. This also means that if I ever have to move back to ACAD (at a future workplace) I will still remember a lot of the ACAD commands, having practised them in DS. It keeps one more flexible. At times I have had a few crashes but then again I am often running DraftSight on a fairly modest business laptop with onboard Intel Graphics, which may cause stability problems.
