OK for small projects, beware of the bugs, buy AutoCAD for business use **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Shen L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023 **What do you like best about DraftSight?** Draftsight is easy to use, and is has enough features to do drawings and designs for home projects as well as some small business projects. The price is acceptable for running a small business. **What do you dislike about DraftSight?** Their tech support is useless and unprofessional. The recent 2023 updates has glitches. I reported the issue to their tech team, but they do not want to fix the bug. The bug was a critical issue. For some reason when exporting pdf drawings, some of the exported sketches magically became different than what you drew in the model space. This bug was not seen on previous versions my colleague is using. Their tech support did confirmed the bug, but they suggested me to re-draw the sketch, rather than investigate the root cause of the issue, because their technician did not know how to fix it. Thank god he/ she didn't tell me to reboot my computer. If you are operating a business and for your safety, purchase AutoCAD, so you don't end up having an exported pdf not being the same as what you have drawn. **What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Draftsight, because it is what my company has provided. I use it for some simple mechanical, site plan, proposal drawings. I do not use it for fabrications as it is not reliable. ### 2. The cost is less than any other CAD programs. Good for small businesses with small budgets. **What do you dislike about DraftSight?** The software still has many issues, mine crashes all the time. I have asked for help for 4 months now with no response. Then the price is not too bad. The software interface is user friendly and it is not really difficult to use. **What do you dislike about DraftSight?** After each update the software is more and more buggy. Currently is use 2017 version as 2018 and 2019 keeps crashing and it has got too many bugs... **Recommendations to others considering DraftSight:** It is free/ cheap but very unstable software. Older versions are more stable. Sometimes very simple operations like joining two lines with arc fillet do not work. **What problems is DraftSight solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am a design engineer and in draftsight I design manufacturing templates, and some production drawings for toughened glass which we manufacture ### 4. Similar to other 2Dimensional cad packages this is a great tool for landscape and simple drafting situations, but the moment complex 3Dimensional designs are needed the use becomes limited. **What do you dislike about DraftSight?** Difficulty in using or even finding some of the commands.
