The customer service are prompt in their reply but useful or not, it depends. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Dotdigital? A simple "Cart Abandonment" email requires many "Dotdigital Experts" to look at it and edit it but it still fails after serval attempts. (FYI, we took almost 4 months back and forth to on it) A simple "Back in stock" email will send "re-confirm email to customer" to re-confirm whether they want to subscribe again and if customer do not respond to the email, the "Back in stock" will not be captured and customer will not be notified. Furthermore, the re-confirm email are not able to edit anything, the branding and the tone of the email are fixed. How flexible and hasslefree is this for our customers and who in the world will expect to still receive a re-confirmation email when they subscribe to the "back in stock" in any online store? If there is something that Dotdigital cannot fix, they will still ask you to go to fill up their "Dotdigital Roadmap" to help them plan and review all the things that they are not able to fix. It sounds like the confirmation email your contacts received is a double opt-in (DOI) confirmation. Having a DOI process is generally viewed as best practice, as it prevents illegitimate contacts from being added to your contact lists. Having said that, you can alter the DOI settings in your account and choose to not have them sent to your contacts if you prefer https://support.dotdigital.com/hc/en-gb/articles/212211948-Use-verified-double-opt-in. The DOI emails can be customized in order to complement your brand too. The platform is easy to use for simple email marketing. Setting up Programs (Automations that are triggered by actions) are easy as well if you have a little technical understanding. We've called, sent emails, and have gone to the support tab on their website and still waited months for a reply. Automatically renewed in September with no direct decision of our team. We've sent less than 400 emails a month since, and have been charged £200 per month. Support have told us there is no option to cancel, or even to downgrade without committing for a further year. NEVER was it mentioned during the sales pitch that we would be put into a 2 year rolling contract. I feel very missold. When looking to move off the platform I was told by our rep that we were locked into an auto-renewed contract. I looked at our original contract from 2019 and it clearly stated that the contract would not auto-renew. I asked for a copy of the 2020 contract and the cancelation form and never heard from my rep again. The company proceeded to continue billing and threatening collections for a platform that was no longer being used. It is very difficult to connect campaigns, making me think this platform is better for beginners but not as robust as Hubspot or something similar. To set up a single gated offer campaign, I have to separately create a landing page, survey (form), address book, and program. This leads to further problems when reporting - a "campaign" only applies to emails, and does not include overall metrics of everything that may be connected in a content campaign. Recommendations to others considering Dotdigital: If you are a beginner to marketing automation, or only need one tool primarily and others are a bonus, this could work for you. What problems is Dotdigital solving and how is that benefiting you? We started using dotmailer with the hope that it would help us streamline marketing campaign creation and connectivity. While we are able to automate campaigns, the steps required to create all the elements separately and make sure they are connected takes a lot of time. The inability to identify all of the elements of a campaign as such (a landing page, email campaign, survey, etc are all set up separately) causes problems with tracking and reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Dotdigital? I signed an agreement with Dotmailer on May 20, 2015. I met the Dotmailer sales rep at the Magento Imagine conference. I was assured that the integration with Magento Enterprise was a simple integration with their Dotmailer extension. I felt confident as Dotmailer is Magento Platinum partner that this would be the case. During this time I reached out to them to make sure I wasn't going to be charged until it is up and running. I was reassured that they would not charge me until it is running. After more than three months of them trying to implement this on August 31st, we finally gave a week's notice to get it up and running. Not only did they not get it up in a week it was still not up by the end of September. In October they finally tell me it is working so I schedule a training to get it started. Then that after more than 4 months of waiting that I would have to wait another 3 weeks for training. On top of that they send me a bill for the last 4 months. I really still don't know if i works or not. Mind you during this time I did not hear from a supervisor or manager. I let them know that we would not continue with Dotmailer. I finally hear from a manager who states there was no reason for a manager to get involved and threatened me with the agreement and when I asked him if he considered that acceptable he hung up on me. Makes it very hard to develop custom HTML emails compatible with easy editor, documentation on the subject very old. The pre-built designs included with the platform look very dated, they seem to really want everyone to use their email customisation service. Their back-end platform seems quite dated too and there are certain UX elements that just don't make sense. Their default templates also don't seem to follow the latest conventions in email design. I used their dotsurvey product for my MSc , its easy to use and reliable, a great product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Dotdigital? I tried to cancel the subscription ,and then was fobbed off, asked to fill in forms and post/email them, then the cancellation did not go through in time, so another months subscription. Then when they finally confirmed by email, they continued to charge, not refunding the payments, still being charged three months on! This is a real shame as their products are actually very good!
