What do you like best?

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you use the platform daily or multiple times a week, you will be an expert in no time at all. The logic generally follows other platforms, but I found by only accessing a few times a month that I needed to take time finding some 'template' aspects to change. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have implemented a complex, automated database pulling data from multiple sources into Dotdigital. The benefit is that we have implemented a global, automated email program to communicate to our brand product owners. As a brand that sells mainly via retail partner stores, this is a real benefit. What do you like best?

Dotdigital is easy to use for beginners or less tech savy users. The standard dashboard and creation of e-mail is easy. The chat support is very good, I've not ever seen this high engagement within any other system.

The insights feature is nice, but cumbersome.

Segment feature also really works nice.

What do you dislike?

If you're an advanced users you start to be annoyed very quickly with many things in the systems.

Salesforce connection:

The Salesforce integration lacks a lot of features. If you're used to e.g. Autopilot, Sharpspring, Hubspot, Marketing Cloud, Pardot you quickly (unfortunually not during demo) notice Dotdigital needs to step up there game (for 2 years already). Yes, the integration within Salesforce is great. But all other sucks. You can't create tasks based on triggers, you can't create opportunities based on triggers, etc etc. The add contact / add lead trigger in automations works badly and only allows for syncing standard fields name, businessname, email, phone. No customs fields are possible. The whole integration interface is also terrible. If you really want your marketing automation and CRM to work hand in hand, skip Dotdigital (for now, I hope!)

Zapier integration:

Same story as above, only some basic triggers. Also only forms can be the trigger. Not a node within your automation program for example or an action within an e-mail.

Fields:

Very basic stuff. They've been promising for 2 years now to make this better. But it's getting postponed each time.

Chat:

I have not yet used it personaly, but from the looks it is a to soon released product. What botters me the most is that Dotdigital isn't even using there own chat program, no they used Intercom and a other chat program. Honestly, a company that is not using it's own products is very bad

Webinsights:

Compare this to any other MA tool and you see the tracking options are lacking, all data is hard text, nothing is visual, there is no realtime feed, no pre-recognision etc etc. It works okay, but not good enough for the price you pay.

Forms and pages:

Some things work great and are thought out, but many things aren't: The forms have a horrible user experience to built. Even basic field types are missing, you can only have dependencies/logic flows on 2 or 3 basic fields. Really, if you are used to Formidable Forms, Gravity Forms, Hubspot etc the experience is heroundus. The stats/reporting is even worse on the forms.

Pages allow tracking which is nice. But you need to manually add this to each and every page. Which sucks!

Contactlist:

can only be searched on e-mailadress which makes no sense. If you want to find a specific person it's a needle in the haystack. Also the contactpages are incomplete lacking for example filled in forms or a a visual view of pages that have been visited on your website.

Emailing: most features are amazing when it comes to email, but the whole dynamic posting is not thought out. You can only do this on very view parameters, needing a lot of hassle for an easy task.

Automations: In the basic it works. But I would prefer a lot more different type of nodes. A lot better integration with third parties like Wordpress, Salesforce, Zapier etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Really make sure what you want to do. Basic emailing, with good segments, great GDPR control and basic automations and Dotdigital is a great fit.

If you want more advanced options including a GOOD intergration with Salesforce, don't use Dotdigital for now. The product can be much better if they give more thought into the Zapier and Salesforce integration (task, oppertunity creation, add, remove and change member status in campaigns, create campaigns etc). What do you like best?

The integrations with paid search and Facebook, allowing you to sync audiences across platforms.

The flexibility of the segments and automation builds.

LiveChat can often offer instant solutions to problems which would take days/weeks to resolve over email. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The speed to trigger a 'welcome' email to a new email subscriber.

That the Shopify connector has an 'all or nothing' implementation - as in you have to use all of it's features or none.

The ability to sync audiences with PPC and Facebook allows you to target the same customer through multiple channels.

What do you like best?

Lots of tools to utilize, but a little overwhelming when you're first getting started. The segmentation tool allows you a lot of freedom to create segments of any time. The integration with the Magento 2 platform is very extensive so you have a lot of data to pull from when creating those segments. Our Onboarding rep and Account manager have also been super helpful and responsive to our requests! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Initial set-up when you first start using the platform is a little overwhelming and daunting, but our Onboarding rep was super helpful. We ran into a ton of issues integrating with Magento, so it took a while to troubleshoot everything. DotDigital is unable to really help with issues on the Magento end, so it was tough troubleshooting some issues such as transactional emails or abandoned cart emails. We had some difficulty with the "External Content" for automated emails that Support was unable to get to the bottom of. It's difficult to test the "External Content" unless you are actively triggering the emails from the website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I really like how easy it is to get to grips with the platform - I've been using it for several years now and this is my second organisation that I've used it at. Had my organisation not been in the process of getting Dotdigital as I arrived, I would have recommended it to them!

The drag and drop build is very useful for those who can't write HTML, I train others up around the organisation to use Dotdigital and this is a very helpful feature. So simple to explain!

Dynamic content is another saviour from having to build multiple emails when you can just do it all in one.

Automation is something we used more at my previous organisation but you can build journeys based off of what people click on to make the most relevant journey for them.

And, surveys - not only used them in emails but also internally (not sure they're really intended for that though!)

Test sends and previewing is super easy which makes for a great email when delivered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the fact that people can unsubscribe from one email and it takes them off all email lists when they might only not want to hear from that email. I know you can get around this by having a child account but it's an extra expense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Excellent opportunities for easy to understand automation (and a pretty nicely designed UX). We've run a variety of short-term (6 week) programmes more efficiently via the dotdigital Engagement Cloud - previously dotmailer.

There's a good level of personalisation available for campaigns created in the product and a coupe of tools to try and better join up email and PPC advertising.

We have also found success using the chat function on the dotmailer site in order to solve problems within a reasonably timeframe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

dotdigital's creative products tend to be a little boxy, but this also means they are easy to pick up for junior members of the team. It can also be hard to ensure you're effectively utalising all the elements unless you have a keen superuser on your team - especially if you have a larger package that incorporates more of the functionalities.

Unfortunately dotdigital also seems to have a high turnover for Account Manager and they are frequently hard to reach or unresponsive even for billing issues or new account creation (hence the reliance on the chat feature for quick fixes). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

As a high cost product, I would ensure you have a team willing to learn and adapt to ensure they are getting the most out of your dotdigital Engagement Cloud contract. You may find that you're paying for features you don't need, or more likely, won't have the time to leverage. And you can quickly discover you need specific features that are not part of the package you purchase.

The segmentation options on the platform are great and easy to manipulate, with most using a 'drag and drop' matrix, that means it's simple for the team to create and test data-driven email campaigns quickly.

Ease of access, great communication from team. Very flexible to what you want, especially if you have service credits to help you build a designed tailored to what you need. I partically like the service cloud because the layout is very neat. Having experienced multiple other platforms, Dotdigital is really simple to use and enables efficient communications with our clients and contacts. We have seen considerable ROI and improvement in managing our time using them through automation. We are looking closely at the engagement rates for our campaigns and noticing a gradual increase in these over time. We've also seen a big difference in the support and customer care we receive from the Dotdigital team and they're always enthusiastic about emails and are constantly helping with new ideas and ways of working through and optimising campaigns. What do you dislike?

You need to commit time and effort in setting up your campaigns but thats the same whatever platform you're using. Navigation between adding a contact and including them in a campaign could be made easier as the user journey is not as intuitive as it could be. Evaluate what you'll be using the platform for and what RIO you'll need from your campaigns. Always run through your ideas and plans with Dotdigital's team and they can best advise you on whether you need Dotdigital. We found them to be very upfront and honest if there isn't a good fit. We're able to more closely manage campaigns and followups based on reporting within the system. We know who's looking at what when we communicate. More functionality built into the platform also has benefits as far as opening up future options for campaigns. We have sent several campaigns already and these were delivered with lower bounce rates and higher open rates with click throughs increasing too. We were then able to track these and engage with the recipient based on what they clicked and so this had a knock on effect with our sales tracking. Ease of use as far as design and adjusting templates is not difficult at all, with drag and drop being a huge benefit as well as use of prebuilt templates that reflect most email design requirements and scenarios. Where to start. The robust dashboard of DotDitigal is far superior than anything else I have worked with. My favorite piece is creating the custom user journeys. I can tailor these campaigns a MILLION ways. Plus, the reporting dashboard is fantastic and provides great insight into my ROI. The one feature that we love the most is the chat feature. DotDigital is not something that you can just 'set and forget'. You have to put the time and effort into learning the system. It can be confusing at first. What do you like best?

The ability to monitor your email campaigns is very easy to use. The overall ranking potential customers with email interaction has been critical to our business. The ability to export lists to Excell makes marketing meetings easier. It's really great for managing address books and targeting segments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

When you export data for excel, it exports the file to a .csv file by default, and in this scenario, you may lose data more often than exporting the file as an .xls file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This product is the most important part of all e-mail campaign management for our company. We use Dot Digital to track our new potential customers and guide them through our earning cycle. What do you like best?

What I like the most when using dotdigital is that, as it is a complete tool with all the tools to carry out a strong marketing campaign, it makes my job much easier and brings out the full potential of a specific idea. Another aspect that I like is that the interface is simple, I personally like it when something is easy to use but it provides you with all the repertoire to have a quality job. I have been utilizing this product for quite a while and genuinely I have not seen anything treating it terribly as it carries out its functions very well, in fact I would like to say that the software borders on perfection and personally I like all its functions and the quality with which it does its work. For those people who are looking for a marketing program to help them implement in a simple and quality way everything they have learned about digital marketing and email marketing, I recommend this program hands down. For me the service that we have implemented has been totally different because we have been able to do free marketing without any kind of restriction. And I like it because Dotdigital has allowed me to be totally free when sending all kinds of campaigns that I want to show, in addition to this the number of people that I want to reach analytics offers us a broad way to demonstrate both positive and negative responses Regarding the campaigns sent, it is for this reason that I like the service because it is very direct in what we need and the support is very friendly. Like all software, there may be certain failures, whether it is emails that customers do not receive, not very pleasant responses to the campaigns that are not accepted, but one point that may fail is the lack of features such as being able to design the campaigns directly from the dotdigital page. , it is necessary to add tools in order to improve the service. What do you like best?

The Dotdigital system is clean, a new updated system free of any obsolete features, for us it is a very nice tool and I like to use the campaign system that allows designing, it can be created directly from Dotdigital, which is why I find it very innovative. Any other tool related to marketing, from the software or its Online system, I am happy because it has provided solutions and we have also been able to contact support for any questions or help. What do you dislike?

The system is definitely good so I don't have a negative point.

We find it incredible how it works and how our company fits perfectly, it has also been very innovative, which is why other types of campaign software that we have used have won, although server automation will always be appreciated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

We recommend it in my case, I have specifically used dotdigital to carry out advertising campaigns because it is much easier and more pleasant for me to carry out a campaign directly than to bother doing it outside of it and then upload it, that is why it allows this type of campaign to be carried out with additional tools works and I am happy because I can do it without any problem, it is for that reason that I recommend the service. The problem that every company must carry out a wide Marketing because it is the main point to attract new customers to the company, it does it in an incredible way, the coupling directly to the company was effective, without problems and without errors at the beginning of the design of Campaign can be carried out directly from your website or it can be carried out outside by simply adding the design to it and making massive traffic of emails, the information was received by the users and reviewed by the analysis in the company.
