What do you like best?

For many months I have done good promotions and other excellent with dotdigital the program is ideal not only for marketing professionals but gives very good benefits to people with little experience in the area what makes it ideal for all, send emails with campaigns and different types of information is simple and fast, allows you to add images and make the campaigns very advanced and reach the customer, always causing greater impact, is easily managed and adapts completely to the needs that are presented to each user, regardless of the level of technical knowledge in the area that the person may have allowing to have the best possible result in each moment Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

One of my campaigns an email was not sent and this caused a significant delay, but it was because of a bad configuration and the mail did not arrive by a txt that was badly configured, in general I feel very good respect for the program and I like its platform and its tools thanks to the improved and the marketing of the company is growing rapidly every day Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Efficient marketing is one that arrives quickly and causes positive impacts to customers and future buyers, the techniques used are important but the tools are those that allow greater depth in the area and more versatility, I can recommend using a program like dotdigital since it is not expensive and has good tools and a platform that can be adapted to all companies to generate what is needed in a very short time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Weekly updates via emails with tips and tricks. Easy to use, practical, anyone can use it. It is very good to reach out to large audiences with a lot of feedback. Great templates to use, neat designs and very easy to amend old templates to keep a running theme going through email campaigns. Can create buttons to easily link to websites or generate emails with pre-inputted subjects to send to relevant email addresses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Using a lot of various contact groups means a lot of background work when setting up contacts, but worthwhile once all set-up. May need some training surrounding generating contact lists and segmentation, but once learned, it can be a very useful tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Very easy to use, anyone can learn how to use the system. Very good in a data reporting sense, lots of valuable insights. A short training session is required by an experienced user then you are away. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reaching a wide audience base whilst being able to track data including open rates etc. Keep an eye on who opens your emails, which colleagues interact and which do not open emails. Sending out advertisements to colleagues to promote certain courses in which we are looking for suitable delegates to attend. What do you like best?

Automated our reminder to buy emails for products that have an expired lifespan.

What do you dislike?

Initially, it was exciting to begin using a brand new Marketing platform and one which would surpass Mailchimp.

As a novice to marketing, I had hoped that 1:1 onboarding over an initial 3 month (at least) would have been offered but this wasn't the case and the whole process felt very rushed. Training was 1 day and felt like a crash course/whirlwind. A softer approach and understanding of individual client requirements is essential to ensure that we, as a new client receives the required support from day one to allow us to confidently remove the stablisers from our bikes.

7 months in and we've found that there are areas of the platform that we still didn't know about because 1. We wouldn't know to look for this, and 2, because we weren't advised of this - being that we should've been made aware of the need to customise default values of a FIRSTNAME in case this value is empty in our Magento 2.x customer datafield.

Also, the Magento 2.x mapping environment for Dotdigital is apparently native to Magento/Adobe and Dotdigital have been unable to provide the best practise mapping techniques for this environment; so 90% of our outgoing emails are sent as manual campaigns or a triggered campaign/program.

A live chat tool routed to a Client management team would be very helpful to assist with quick questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Email support is good and can take around 12 hours, but I do feel that if DD offered an account management support from day 1 to ensure our competence of their service, that this would have been much more helpful, perhaps our ship has sailed for this but it could help future clients. What do you like best?

Email workflow and infinite possibilities. With a few data points, it is very easy to set up dynamic workflows that treat all your customers correctly and engage them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Integration with remote systems for data is often painful. You must use provided APIs rather than having a system coming to "peek and collect" only what is needed. Moreover, you must transfer all data in clear, and often sensible data of your customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure you want to buy a complete off the shelf solution. It is not always easy to decide if you want to build software in house or not. Sometimes, it is good to buy only bricks, and build the cement yourself, actually most of the successful digital businesses these last years were as such. Dotdigital provides a complete solution, and although it is module-based, you are in for a big leap.

What do you like best?

For someone with minimal email building experience beforehand, Dotdigital is very easy to use, with an abundance of features in order to create the best possible email for our charity. The analytics reports are also very useful - we're able to use these to help inform our email program moving forward, and I cannot praise their customer service enough! The customer service agents are helpful, and are able to action any problems in a timely manner. I am a current user who builds a monthly email newsletter for the charity I work for. What do you dislike?

Sometimes the formatting can be a little frustrating to deal with when using custom templates. It often makes it a little restricting when things are not displaying how we would like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We've been increasing our engagement and keeping our regular donators/supporters warm with regular updates via several different email journeys - a monthly newsletter or sponsorship updates, for example. What do you like best?

Really easy to create emails, and the automation program functionality is detailed and intuitive. Support team are quick and helpful, and the company's 'extra-curricular' programming is really great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I wish there were more capacity for reporting. Would like that to be a more customisable function (ie. buildable reports) – not just on campaigns, but on audiences. Sometimes the email builder can be a little limiting and other services can create emails that look nicer

It can be a little hard to know how to resolve specific issues

The way the tool is laid out and explained is designed around retail businesses rather than any other kind of business- it means that as a business that is non retail you have to figure out how to apply the tools as a sort of work around. If you use the platform daily or multiple times a week, you will be an expert in no time at all. The logic generally follows other platforms, but I found by only accessing a few times a month that I needed to take time finding some 'template' aspects to change. We have implemented a complex, automated database pulling data from multiple sources into Dotdigital. What do you like best?

Dotdigital is easy to use for beginners or less tech savy users. The standard dashboard and creation of e-mail is easy. The chat support is very good, I've not ever seen this high engagement within any other system.

The insights feature is nice, but cumbersome.

Segment feature also really works nice.

What do you dislike?

If you're an advanced users you start to be annoyed very quickly with many things in the systems.

Salesforce connection:

The Salesforce integration lacks a lot of features. If you're used to e.g. Autopilot, Sharpspring, Hubspot, Marketing Cloud, Pardot you quickly (unfortunually not during demo) notice Dotdigital needs to step up there game (for 2 years already). Yes, the integration within Salesforce is great. But all other sucks. You can't create tasks based on triggers, you can't create opportunities based on triggers, etc etc. The add contact / add lead trigger in automations works badly and only allows for syncing standard fields name, businessname, email, phone. No customs fields are possible. The whole integration interface is also terrible. If you really want your marketing automation and CRM to work hand in hand, skip Dotdigital (for now, I hope!)

Zapier integration:

Same story as above, only some basic triggers. Also only forms can be the trigger. Not a node within your automation program for example or an action within an e-mail.

Fields:

Very basic stuff. They've been promising for 2 years now to make this better. But it's getting postponed each time.

Chat:

I have not yet used it personaly, but from the looks it is a to soon released product. What botters me the most is that Dotdigital isn't even using there own chat program, no they used Intercom and a other chat program. Honestly, a company that is not using it's own products is very bad

Webinsights:

Compare this to any other MA tool and you see the tracking options are lacking, all data is hard text, nothing is visual, there is no realtime feed, no pre-recognision etc etc. It works okay, but not good enough for the price you pay.

Forms and pages:

Some things work great and are thought out, but many things aren't: The forms have a horrible user experience to built. Even basic field types are missing, you can only have dependencies/logic flows on 2 or 3 basic fields. Really, if you are used to Formidable Forms, Gravity Forms, Hubspot etc the experience is heroundus. The stats/reporting is even worse on the forms.

Pages allow tracking which is nice. But you need to manually add this to each and every page. Which sucks!

Contactlist:

can only be searched on e-mailadress which makes no sense. If you want to find a specific person it's a needle in the haystack. Also the contactpages are incomplete lacking for example filled in forms or a a visual view of pages that have been visited on your website.

Emailing: most features are amazing when it comes to email, but the whole dynamic posting is not thought out. You can only do this on very view parameters, needing a lot of hassle for an easy task.

Automations: In the basic it works. But I would prefer a lot more different type of nodes. A lot better integration with third parties like Wordpress, Salesforce, Zapier etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Really make sure what you want to do. Basic emailing, with good segments, great GDPR control and basic automations and Dotdigital is a great fit.

If you want more advanced options including a GOOD intergration with Salesforce, don't use Dotdigital for now. The product can be much better if they give more thought into the Zapier and Salesforce integration (task, oppertunity creation, add, remove and change member status in campaigns, create campaigns etc). The integrations with paid search and Facebook, allowing you to sync audiences across platforms.

The flexibility of the segments and automation builds.

The speed to trigger a 'welcome' email to a new email subscriber.

That the Shopify connector has an 'all or nothing' implementation - as in you have to use all of it's features or none.

The ability to sync audiences with PPC and Facebook allows you to target the same customer through multiple channels.

What do you dislike?

What do you like best?

Lots of tools to utilize, but a little overwhelming when you're first getting started. The segmentation tool allows you a lot of freedom to create segments of any time. The integration with the Magento 2 platform is very extensive so you have a lot of data to pull from when creating those segments. Our Onboarding rep and Account manager have also been super helpful and responsive to our requests! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Initial set-up when you first start using the platform is a little overwhelming and daunting, but our Onboarding rep was super helpful. We ran into a ton of issues integrating with Magento, so it took a while to troubleshoot everything. DotDigital is unable to really help with issues on the Magento end, so it was tough troubleshooting some issues such as transactional emails or abandoned cart emails. We had some difficulty with the "External Content" for automated emails that Support was unable to get to the bottom of. It's difficult to test the "External Content" unless you are actively triggering the emails from the website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I really like how easy it is to get to grips with the platform - I've been using it for several years now and this is my second organisation that I've used it at. Had my organisation not been in the process of getting Dotdigital as I arrived, I would have recommended it to them!

The drag and drop build is very useful for those who can't write HTML, I train others up around the organisation to use Dotdigital and this is a very helpful feature. So simple to explain!

Dynamic content is another saviour from having to build multiple emails when you can just do it all in one.

Automation is something we used more at my previous organisation but you can build journeys based off of what people click on to make the most relevant journey for them.

And, surveys - not only used them in emails but also internally (not sure they're really intended for that though!)

Test sends and previewing is super easy which makes for a great email when delivered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the fact that people can unsubscribe from one email and it takes them off all email lists when they might only not want to hear from that email. I know you can get around this by having a child account but it's an extra expense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Excellent opportunities for easy to understand automation (and a pretty nicely designed UX). We've run a variety of short-term (6 week) programmes more efficiently via the dotdigital Engagement Cloud - previously dotmailer.

There's a good level of personalisation available for campaigns created in the product and a coupe of tools to try and better join up email and PPC advertising.

We have also found success using the chat function on the dotmailer site in order to solve problems within a reasonably timeframe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

dotdigital's creative products tend to be a little boxy, but this also means they are easy to pick up for junior members of the team. It can also be hard to ensure you're effectively utalising all the elements unless you have a keen superuser on your team - especially if you have a larger package that incorporates more of the functionalities.

Unfortunately dotdigital also seems to have a high turnover for Account Manager and they are frequently hard to reach or unresponsive even for billing issues or new account creation (hence the reliance on the chat feature for quick fixes). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

As a high cost product, I would ensure you have a team willing to learn and adapt to ensure they are getting the most out of your dotdigital Engagement Cloud contract. You may find that you're paying for features you don't need, or more likely, won't have the time to leverage. And you can quickly discover you need specific features that are not part of the package you purchase.

The segmentation options on the platform are great and easy to manipulate, with most using a 'drag and drop' matrix, that means it's simple for the team to create and test data-driven email campaigns quickly.

What do you like best?

Ease of access, great communication from team. Very flexible to what you want, especially if you have service credits to help you build a designed tailored to what you need. I partically like the service cloud because the layout is very neat. I also like the fact that they have blog posts to the right which enables me to read up on certain issues which I may have experienced in the past Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The communication with the team isn't always through email. It is done using a third party app called Wrike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The business problems that they are helping me solve is mainly through the automation of our marketing emails. In our old system we were never able to automate our emails. Now dot digital is able to automate the whole process which makes it easier for our live in Holland.

Creating campaigns using the engagement cloud is very simple. Using drag and drop tools to help build them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Having experienced multiple other platforms, Dotdigital is really simple to use and enables efficient communications with our clients and contacts. We have seen considerable ROI and improvement in managing our time using them through automation. We are looking closely at the engagement rates for our campaigns and noticing a gradual increase in these over time. We've also seen a big difference in the support and customer care we receive from the Dotdigital team and they're always enthusiastic about emails and are constantly helping with new ideas and ways of working through and optimising campaigns.
