"Framework programming for multi-channel sites"

What do you like best about dotCMS?

Usability in the back-end content management interface, considering simple connections and content looking and altering. Generally, distributing ideas is great and simple to get content between conditions. I like how adaptable it is and the way that it permits me to make custom substance types. That's what I feel, given sufficient preparation, a completely self-serve site is conceivable, while as yet taking into consideration custom layouts and designs. What do you dislike about dotCMS?

A few difficulties in regards to "system programming" ideas, where customization is expected to take advantage of the POTENTIAL of this product. Customization implies difficulty however and makes supporting the framework testing. The product is AMAZINGLY adjustable (that is great!), however which makes the 'too' adaptable situation. "dotCMS is open a tool made for everyone"

What do you like best about dotCMS?

At first, the system is overwhelming for someone that has never worked with a CMS before. The System may not fit all of our needs, but it still allows us to build our features on top of it, which is fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about dotCMS?

We are a business developing landing pages for advertisement. I feel as though dotCMS has a Designer Template for no-code implementation, it doesn't quite work with multiple sites sharing the code. We have to duplicate a site for a template to work in another host. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering dotCMS:

Whether you have a blog, a shopping website, or multiple sites, dotCMS will provide you with everything you need to manage your content the way you want. You have full power. I'm not joking. I would recommend that you watch their webinars to have a good introduction as to what is it you can do with their application, and most importantly, that you test it our yourself. They have a demo website to log in to the back-end and see how they did it. I learned a ton of new tricks just by looking around at how things are set up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is dotCMS solving and how is that benefiting you?

Being able to control our content and our static landing pages all in the same place is very convenient. That is the sole purpose of a CMS, after all. I cannot compare it with other CMS since it is my first experience with one. I think dotCMS is suitable for developers, which is excellent, but I also know that content integrators have a more accessible experience when compared to having no CMS. What do you like best about dotCMS?

The dotCMS team is committed to supporting their customers to scale the solution to their needs. dotCMS allows a lot of functionality and has potential for integration with other systems. The training resources are excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about dotCMS?

The Admin Panel could use some refreshing as it is a bit difficult to work with to set permissions and manage pages compared to other solutions. For this reason, having a qualified web developer is suggested. Major version updates can be significant and should be reviewed carefully to be sure consistency post upgrade. Recommendations to others considering dotCMS:

Have a short term and long term strategy so that you can define what you want to achieve. This could look like a phased approach where you set clear expectations for going live and then a future plan for rolling out additional features or functionality. You'll find that dotCMS continues to innovate and have on premise workshops and online sessions quite often. We needed a mobile responsive web site that could meet a variety of needs that an educational institution would require in 2020 and beyond. There are functions such as defining how to utilize a headless strategy for managing systems with dotCMS as the core. What do you like best about dotCMS?

We have enjoyed the way dotCMS still treats a site as a series of folders with subfolders and pages. It's been the easiest way for our editors to transition. Conversely, it's also been a gentle introduction for our users to the concepts of structured content. It's not at all difficult to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about dotCMS?

We have had a series of difficulties with the stability of the software. The cloud has been good for us, but the occasional software crash has been frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering dotCMS:

I would recommend that people take into consideration the level of personal support that dotCMS provides. My issues are addressed in an extremely timely and professional manner. This has been the greatest asset that dotCMS provides to Calvin University. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful platform"

What do you like best about dotCMS?

The flexibility of the platform. UI focussed on Marketing users, not IT admins. Strong backend architecture and highly scalable. Compared to other platforms, this is relatively cost-effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Documentation is not that great, and finding talent in the market is not easy. dotCMS support team is accommodating, but I wish dotCMS has professional services to help implementations directly.
