I've been using Doppler's secret referencing to create multiple environments that reference a single set of API secrets. We have 2 databases, one for dev and one for production, with multiple client apps (mobile, desktop, and some web based tools) that need API secrets for the database and other services. I love that I can make an environment for each client app and create subsets of secrets without needing to have copies of text all over the place. The backend code needs access to everything, but the frontend clients only need a subset. Some of the web tools only need a smaller subset than the mobile app. Creating environements in Doppler that all reference the master list lets me deliver only the secrets I want for each use case and without needing to duplicate values. I haven't used a lot of tools, but I can say that the dashboard for managing a lot of environments isn't great, since you get a long horizontal scrolling page after about 3 environments. I'd rather they are displayed in a grid or vertically. Also the site isn't designed for mobile so if you ever need to make a quick change from your phone, good luck! What I like the most in the SecretOps Plataform it is that is an easy platform to use, it is easy to find what I created, and easy to create new secrets. The feature related to when some integration was used it is something that I really enjoy. Of course, my experience with doppler also is something that I consider good mostly because when we migrated our secrets from .env files to doppler it was an easy implementation. I don´t like two things: The first one it is in our case that we have three environments. For some secrets, they have the same value in all environments and doesn´t have an option to "triplicate" the secre value for all these environment. I have to do this manually.

The other thing that I miss it is a feature that says how many times some secret was used, because sometimes alongside with a refactory, maybe we can change something that is related to a secret, like we can delete a secret and it become obsolete. For some miss attention, the dev could forgot to delete the secret, and it will load unnecessarily. If there is a feature that tells how many times a secret was used with a date filter, or better, if there is a notification saying that a secret is not being used, that would be cool. A nice to have. Our team required a secure platform for managing secrets. After an extensive search and effort to secure trial versions, we evaluated Doppler. We began with their development plan during our dev phase and have decided to upgrade to the team plan for our production launch. Doppler's clear pricing structure and the accessibility of their API, even in the Free plan, made it an easy choice. No meetings to get access/trials, just signup and go. Also, the next competitor was significantly more expensive, literally 1,012% more expensive (yes, one thousand.)

Doppler enabled us to manage secret in a really professional and easy way.

Most of our secrets are used in kubernetes or github actions.

The kubernetes operator works like a charm, restarting the pods whenever needed (a secret changed)

SSO with SCIM is now saving us time during onboardin/offboarding

We managed to build our own scripts to rotate secrets whenever needed. We can change secrets in our entire ecosystem in less than 3 minutes. That's a real timesaver.

Customer support is really following us closely (we are running enterprise, so that may vary with other plans)

The UI is solid and reasonable.

Doppler has been the most profitable purchase of the last 2 years in the company where I work. We've been using it for 2 years now, and it enables our development and infrastructure teams to manage a whole range of secrets and configurations across our platform, synchronizing them automatically and monitoring changes.

For me, it's the must-have platform for secrets management. I can't see myself going back.
