The backgrounds are not searchable, so you have to scroll through them and find the one you want - very inconvenient. Right at the time when I needed the service the most, the Doodly servers went down, and I could not work on my project. The way the software is architected, an internet connection is required to receive project data and clip art - no local cache... It took me about 1/2 hour to generate and learn. My response from my first video was great and now I am just working on the learning curve to perfect the movies. **What do you dislike about Doodly?** Some of the illustrations take a long time to render. After a while I figured out that I needed to reduce the amount of internal illustrations so it wouldn't take as much time. I can take a prospect through it step by step and keep their attention without them getting bored and they stay to the end. Disappointed and Misleading **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Heather A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020 **What do you like best about Doodly?** It can be very easy to use, as long as you are fairly computer competent to begin with. **What do you dislike about Doodly?** When signed up over a year ago, the premise was that the $67 buy in was going to be for a limited time, and that investment would be enough to have it for a 'lifetime' - however, with each additional release of illustrations/bundles available, they are up to over $2000 in additions. The disadvantage to this, of course, is that people are still able to buy in at the $67, so there is no benefit to being a founding member and getting those packages for the 'lifetime' deal. At this point, it's good software, but to make it great, you need to invest more and more as the software advances and grows. I'll stick to the minimum, and likely look for other software that isn't so much of a roll-out/waiting process for things in the future for more complex videos. **Recommendations to others considering Doodly:** I would definitely use this software more often if I didn't have to upload so many of my own assets and create my own paths for them. I also think the $67 buy in is a great investment, but the concept of buying content once you've bought in for a 'lifetime' seems to negate their need for recurring revenue and they would rather have lots of one-off purchases than customers that would benefit from their roll-outs as beta testing and have new people come on as a subscription based service. **What problems is Doodly solving and how is that benefiting you?** I got it to make social media short clips and quickly started using for training videos - however with the package that I bought into, vs what is available now, it seems that the only benefit of Doodly is the ease of use for myself and the cost at the beginning. ### 25. I purchased a product and they said they refunded the money. I have gone back and forth with them for over a month now, shown bank records, had the bank contact them IN WRITING and tell them that I was never refunded the money. They flat out refused to give the money back. ONE person refused to let me even speak, on the phone, with anybody, absolutely no one would give up a phone number and finally had to file a dispute with the bank....the whole way I was treated is why I would not ever recommend this product to anyone...people are the product....and without people purchasing your product...it doesn't matter what product you have...we the people, make the difference and this company could care less about the people who pay their salaries and keep them in a job...especially during this pandemic....and all for $97??????? **Recommendations to others considering Doodly:** Be aware that if you have any issues that the customer service will not care about your issue NOR care about you. You can BUY BUY BUY easily enough. Other than the fact that it is easy enough to buy additional characters, there is not much that I like about this garbageware. **What do you dislike about Doodly?** Everything. The entire UI needs redesigning because nothing is user-friendly. Have the developers look at Premier and copy what the professionals do. The software is some of the most buggiest software I've ever had the displeasure of working with and constantly crashes. The support started out good but then it didn't appear that they were reading what I was writing. If you try to do anything in this software that is outside of a 30 second video, it takes 10 times longer because of the awful layout. This software is absolutely disgusting and I cannot believe that people in their right mind would write on here how good the software is because it is not. It constantly crashes during rendering with 1 second left or 9 seconds left when you try and render at 1080p. The software is doesn't even deserved to be called software. It deserves to be called garbageware. Can you make money with it? Yes? Can you do anything intelligent with it? Not without a real hassle and having to troubleshoot the problem yourself. Making two Doodly video tutorials on how to create effects within the software, spent 30+ hours making each video only to have it crash on you and you have to troubleshoot it to figure out what this buggy Doodly garbageware doesn't like. Make the same video in Premier and it takes 4-5 hours and works perfectly during rendering. Stick to using a professional software and don't waste your money. The only reason I am keeping this software is because my clients like the damned hand that draws. I could probably make the same effect in Premier in half the time. **What problems is Doodly solving and how is that benefiting you?** I don't believe the technical support understands the software enough to solve the problem. I discovered a major bug in their software and reported it to them and gave them proof and they told me the problem was something else completely.
