## DonorSnap Reviews
  ### 1. Donor Snap Review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2018

**What do you like best about DonorSnap?**

It's online and able to be accessed through a network. Mass Entry is really helpful- however there are some glitches in Mass Entry that could be changed to help with efficiency.

**What do you dislike about DonorSnap?**

Receipts are generated individually and I have to MANUALLY combine donations given by donors that give to different accounts and split their donation. (that's a huge time waster). In Mass entry, you can't edit a donation you have to DELETE the entire thing, also in Mass Entry you can't split the donation to different accounts. No check scanning. No automatic input from online gifts. (we tried the merchant service you used and it was really bad, and the reports were not good). In General, Data Miner reports are complicated and confusing to run. It would be helpful to duplicate a donation entry, instead of having to re-input each one with re-curring. I'm finding when I run PDF reports, they sometimes drop the name of the donor on the PDF or viewer. I have to export the excel spreadsheet and then I'm able to view it.

**Recommendations to others considering DonorSnap:**

We figured out a way to create a campaign for each deposit. This way we could trace back what donations were in that deposit. Sometimes doing it by date is confusing, because it adds all the deposits for that day.

**What problems is DonorSnap solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helpful having unlimited users to access. It is a decent place to store data. It's good to be able to connect from anywhere.

**Official Response from Dennis Mueller:**

> Chris,

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I am guessing that you discussed most of your issues with support to see if there was an easier way to do things. If not please contact them with concerns.

With regards to some of your functional comments, we will look into the issue of grouping donations together into one acknowledgment. Currently folks either acknowledge an individual donation or use the Statement acknowledgment system for multiple donations. It appears you are trying to acknowledge a split donation and want the detail of the split and not just the total in the acknowledgment letter. You are right that we currently don't do this. We do have clients doing this with mail merge but I understand that to be less than an ideal situation. We'll see what we can do this summer.

As for the merchant service comment, please email me directly at DMueller@DonorSnap.com... We switched processors about 16 months ago due to a significant change in service level from our last processor. Since switching we have had very few issues with the new processor and have over 400 accounts using them. I'd like to here from you if you are using the new processor and have issues. We will address that with the processor. If you are on the old processor, it is well worth your time to switch over. Our support staff will work with you on transitioning your online forms, etc..

I'd also like to understand the comment about donor names dropping. I had not heard that before and would like to know the specifics so I can look into it.

Thanks,

Dennis Mueller

  ### 2. Affordable Solution for Organizations on a Shoe-String Budget

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2018

**What do you like best about DonorSnap?**

DonorSnap is responsive to customer needs. If something doesn't meet your needs they are willin to work with you to accommodate your request, within reason.

**What do you dislike about DonorSnap?**

The system is not super intuitive so you need to be ready to invest a significant amount of time in going through trainings to make sure you are maximizing the features available to you through DonorSnap.

**Recommendations to others considering DonorSnap:**

This is a low-cost cloud-based solution but it is not as whiz bang-y as other more robust cloud-based offerings out there. The system is not super intuitive so you need to be ready to invest a significant amount of time in going through trainings to make sure you are maximizing the features available to you through DonorSnap.

**What problems is DonorSnap solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a cloud-based platform that allows us to track our development goals: prospective givers and current donors. The system has built in reporting systems that allow us to track our progress on fundraising goals--which is enormously helpful in providing timely reports to the Executive Director, Fundraising Committee, and members of the Board of Directors.

**Official Response from Dennis Mueller:**

> Thank you for responding to the survey.

We do try to make the software intuitive but as we (and any other software product) grows with functionality, there is more to learn. We try to walk the line between simplicity of use and depth of functionality. We probably fall into the IT trap where it seems really simple and intuitive to us. We'll keep trying as we develop new features.

We do offer additional personalized trainings (beyond the 2 hours included at startup). Perhaps by doing a $75 ninety minute class with Joanna we could shorten your learning curve help you get the most out of the software.

I actually appreciate the Shoe-String budget comment. We do seem to cater to a niche that does want an all inclusive product at a low monthly price. I'm not sure if that is our software or the nature of most nonprofits... The few add on services we offer (paid phone support and additional training classes) are almost never requested. We do not have some of the functionality of a Raisers Edge but do think we compete nicely with most cloud software providers.

Please email me directly at DMueller@DonorSnap.com and let me know what features we are missing our you'd like to see in DonorSnap. It may be something we have or are planning, or it may be something that isn't in our development time schedule. Either way, I'd like to hear what you are looking for.

Thanks,

Dennis Mueller

  ### 3. Outdated interface and small buttons

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Meghan G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2018

**What do you like best about DonorSnap?**

-organized well
-there are so many features to it

**What do you dislike about DonorSnap?**

-outdated interface
-doesn't show quick numbers or info about donors

**Recommendations to others considering DonorSnap:**

Get a phone app!

**What problems is DonorSnap solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Queries to be able to filter the correct donors/volunteers to send them appeals.

**Official Response from Dennis Mueller:**

> Meghan,

Thanks for the time you took to respond to the survey.

With respects to our interface, you'll be happy to know that we've been working with UI/UX designers for the past couple of months and have started to develop a new front end for the software. The timetable is currently to roll it out by the end of summer.

With regards to your comment about quick numbers for donors, please email me directly at DMueller@DonorSnap.com with your specific issues. We do have about 30 data fields available for each Donor such as Life to Date, Year to Date donations, etc... If you haven't enabled them on your custom screen you may not be seeing that information. Alternatively, you may be looking for something else so please email me with your specific needs.

Thanks,

Dennis Mueller

  ### 4. DonorSnap has some limits.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2018

**What do you like best about DonorSnap?**

I think this CRM has the capability to perform a lot of functions but learning how to get it to perform is tricky. I’ve learn s they when I’m trying to pull a report I have to look fir very specific data vs broad information.

**What do you dislike about DonorSnap?**

This system is not very intuitive & the search function really leaves something to be desired.

**What problems is DonorSnap solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to organize our donor relations ina way thst makes sense to use. It’s very customizable.

**Official Response from Dennis Mueller:**

> Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Please email me directly about the issues you have with the search function. Our Global search currently will allow you to search every field within DonorSnap, including comments. The grid filters lets you drill quickly into a give specific field. I'd like to know what it is to see if we can address it. So I'd like to get a better idea of what you'd like to see. My email is DMueller@DonorSnap.com

Thanks,

Dennis Mueller

  ### 5. Mixed experience.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Val R. | Development Director, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2016

**What do you like best about DonorSnap?**

Like the ability to affiliate records and assign soft credits. Like the ticklers. Like being able to link donations to pledges. Like batch updating of interactions and easy merger of duplicate records. The online help - text, video, email is good.

**What do you dislike about DonorSnap?**

Hate the online card processor - Global Payments. Can not contact them to resolve many, many issues with card processing. This has wrecked our auto-donation program. The claimed "automatic" integration of payments and event attendance actually requires many manual steps to avoid creating duplicate records. "Integration" with Constant Contact is very simplistic and not tremendously helpful. Certain queries that I want, combining interaction and donation data are just not possible because of the database structure. Various little bits of code are broken and that's annoying.

**Recommendations to others considering DonorSnap:**

It's an ok entry level system.

**What problems is DonorSnap solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This was a decent transition from what we had before - a custom built FileMaker Pro system but we've outgrown it in 2 years. We need more sophisticated communications integration and queries. Being locked in to the horrible payment processor is a deal-breaker.

**Official Response from Dennis Mueller:**

> Val

We apologize for the issues caused to your organization by Global Payments. It was probably as frustrating for us as it was for you. That organization went thru a series of mergers and we went from having good customer support to no customer support and no one we could call. It took us a bit of programming but we did switch over to another processor and you've been using them for the past year or so. Hopefully you've found it to be a better experience.

We do want to thank you for being with us since 2013 and sticking with us thru the issues with the CC processor.

  ### 6. Good functionality, hard to use.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2016

**What do you like best about DonorSnap?**

The functionality is what you'd expect and require of a fee-for-service database/CRM. No complaints about that. It works as advertised and works well. In addition, we are able to use it as an event registration platform, automatically feeding the participant information into the database. This is a superb feature that is now a core part of our operations.

**What do you dislike about DonorSnap?**

Font size. Yeah, first world problem, maybe, but it matters to me. The font is small and hard to read. There's room in the layout for increased font size because there's a lot of white space, but when I called to ask about increasing the font size I was told to do so on the operating system of my computer. I don't want to increase the font size globally on my computer, I want to adjust it withing the program. Apparently, this is not an option, which is odd because many programs and apps far less sophisticated offer this option. Go figure. Well, my eyes aren't so young anymore, and the fact that it's hard to read and I can't adjust it both pushes me away from logging in and makes me think about changing to another provider.

**Recommendations to others considering DonorSnap:**

Have a big monitor, magnifying glasses or young eyes.

**What problems is DonorSnap solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Donor database.
Event registration.

**Official Response from Dennis Mueller:**

> You'll be happy to know that in the revised User Interface we are working on, we are increasing the font size. However, you more than likely will not be able to customize it specifically for your system and will need to use your browsers setting it you want it larger.

The software capability exists to make is customizable by customer. However, with over 200 screens in DonorSnap, it would be difficult to ensure a good viewing experience if the font was increased too large. It may look OK on the contact detail screen but would require a large amount of left/right scrolling for grid views. We are re-writing the screens with Boot Strap to auto adjust to screen size but the basics of the software still need to be readily readable on a regular monitor.

Thanks,

Dennis Mueller
