"Excellent DNS Filtering Service"
5/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

I like how easy it is to manage the filtering software from the web portal. It's super straight forward to set up with my networking equipment with clear instructions. I like that it automatically blocks threats without me having to do anything. It also lets me remotely manage both of our locations and networks from the same portal with the same policies. Very useful for saving time setting up the content filtering. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

Setting specific filters on an exact domain can be a bit tricky with multiple sites and the VPN but its not a dealbreaker. Users are a bit confused by the roaming client and since our users are admins they think it conflicts with the current VPN solution we have but as I said, not exactly a DNS Filter issue or a dealbreaker. "A+ for DNSFilter"
5/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

Very clean and intuitive UI. They even took a multi-tenant approach for MSPs including global policies and a customizable gif-friendly block page. Implementation was a breeze too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

I can't think of anything, they've hit all the marks for us. I was going to suggest SSO but just confirmed they have that too! It would be nice to have schedulable emailed reports that could be directed to our client point of contact or our QBR reports bin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"got it for our guest wifi - I'm impressed"
3.5/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

We offer guest wifi that can get a few hundred connections at peak times. We want to include a reasonable amount of protection, particularly because our users can sometimes include teens and kids. We had a hardware device for filtering this wifi for years, but it finally kicked the bucket, and we explored options.

Not having to worry about maintaining hardware anymore is a nice plus. But, once we signed up for the trial, I was impressed with the options available. Besides the typical categories, it's worth noting that you can schedule different levels of filtering at different times of day and cause major search engines, like Google, to use their Safe Search results. There are some experimental options available that I found intriguing, such as the "interstitial Page Feature," which pauses and performs a real-time automated classification on domains that are being accessed for the first time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

As for their guest wifi filtering options, setup, configuration, reporting - they exceeded expectations for a DNS-based filtering product and I have no complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very capable solution getting better all the time."
4.5/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

The information in the reports is excellent and allows us to see what has been used and what is being blocked quickly. Setup was very simple and easy, and after a week of minor tweaking it is pretty hands-off. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

The interface is a little rough around the edges and tool deployment could be made much more manageable and easier to deploy through scripting and automation. From time to time they push updates that break things so Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I use DNDFilter because why not, it's a no-brainer"
4.5/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

As a true junkie, I find it oddly(or not) satisfying that AI is infused into the mix.

It's no secret, computers are far more reliable than humans at a lot of tasks.

I can sleep well knowing most threats will be dealt with in time , thanks to our tech friends. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

Not much

I'd say though, I wish it was more educative to users, even those who aren't very tech savvy, on the importance of having measures like it in place.

Not just as a marketing tactic, but general safety while browsing the net. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great platform to add a security layer to distributed workforces"
5/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

Multi-Tenancy and Granularity with filtering options. The broad range of deployment capabilities also allows us to use this solution exclusively, rather than needing multiple platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

Initial lack of direct integration with AAD. DNSFilter has done a very good job of positioning itself as industry-leading and there's very little to dislike with the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Straightforward DNS management"
4/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

I like DNSFilter's simple, intuitive interface. The product is easy to navigate and quickly view different sites and reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

My main dislike is that there is no way to quickly whitelist a domain without creating and applying a non-default policy to the site. For most of our clients (small businesses), we use a default policy, so it would be nice to quickly whitelist a domain for a single client without duplicating the default policy and modifying it for one domain and then apply that to the site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Jenine Laviola of DNSFilter

Thank you Thomas for the feedback. We are glad to hear you find our product easy to navigate and can quickly view different sites and reports. In regards to not being able to quickly whitelist a domain without creating and applying a non-default policy to the site, we’re recruiting for the beta for this very capability and would love to have you participate if you’re interested. We’ll be releasing this to everyone in the next month or so. Stay tuned!”

"My favorite DNS protection service."
5/5
What do you like best about DNSFilter?

I really like the interface and how easy the deployment is. I've used Umbrella before it was acquired by Cisco as well as Webroot's DNS security, but DNS filter is by far my favorite. The pricing is really nice and I haven't had any issues with the product and it's been over a year. I had some issues with other providers affecting VPN's, but so far DNS filter hasn't affected our VPNs (SonicWALL and Azure Always on VPN). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DNSFilter?

I don't have any real dislikes, but if they could update their data exporter to allow generic syslog that would be great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
