## DNSFilter Reviews
  ### 1. DNS Filter is great.. and improving all the time!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey C. | Sr Cyber Security Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Drop dead simple to use. Point all your DNS traffic at their servers and you are set.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

There is nothing to dislike. Its truly a great product.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Over all- Great product with many deployment options. Price is awesome!

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNS Filter improves the security posture of our network by eliminating calls to junk domains and malware domains.

  ### 2. Excellent service. Low effort for high protection.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Simple to setup and deploy across the network. Very easy interface to work with and simple billing structure. The support people I've worked with have been amazing to work with and respond quickly. The weekly reports about what's been protected is a reminder that services like this are essential in a proper security stack.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Frequently when a new site is checked by DNSFilter, it says to close and re-open the browser as the site was deemed safe. That doesn't work 99% of the time and I have to end up disabling the filtering to go to the site. Doesn't matter what browser it is. It works eventually, but not as quickly as advertised. It's not really a problem since this happens so seldom, but it's frustrating when it does happen.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

DNS Filter was by far the best we've come across in terms of price and performance. They've really gone above and beyond in terms of making things simple and secure.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm protecting my office and clients from malware across the internet. The weekly reports about what malware has been either stopped or simply detected it shocking to say the least. Shocking to the point of it seeming like it's inflated, but I know it makes me feel safer for myself and my clients knowing that this is another layer of protection against malicious sites, code, and DNS poisoning.

  ### 3. DNSFilter - Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luke W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Speed and ease of use. It takes no time in getting to know the platform. When making changes to a whitelist for example. The changes are almost immediate, so there is no waiting round like some other filters do.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

No global whitelist, this makes a lot more work for myself and other engineers. Should have a Global MSP Whitelist (Which is for every Tenant/site) then a Tenant Whitelist (which is for all sites in that tenant) .

Many to Many Whitelist would also be good, so it would be created at the top level and applied to which ever site you like. This makes sense when you have a specific customers that could all use the same whitelist.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSFilter has allowed me to implement Filtering solutions at a much faster rate. I can do most of the prep work before even accessing a customers network.

  ### 4. Image based filtering and fast

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

The image-based filtering which looks for phishing based on the use of company logos and branding on look-alike pages seems to me to be great for protecting work at home users especially. I also like the speed of returning DNS results, and the speed with which the filters are updated with new threats.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

The minimum pricing for the MSP plans is a bit of a barrier for small and startup MSPs to compete with larger MSPs. Some small MSPs may need to use a different solution for a while until their number of systems managed grows to make economic sense. This has so far meant I was able to get familiar with the product in a demo, but not able to use it in my MSP stack.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I feel that choosing best-in-class point products delivers a high quality of MSP stack versus picking integrated jack of all trades packages, especially for anti-malware.

  ### 5. Very easy to implement, helpful contacts and a good value for money.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniela F. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

The service was implemented and up and running in less than one hour. My contacts at DSNFilter have been very friendly and helpful. As an education company we could benefit of a very advantageous pricing plan. The product meets all our requirements, e.g. scheduling a filter or having exceptions for certain user groups.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

On some pages a DNS filter is not able to show the customized landing page, but we learnt that this is a Problem with all kind of DNS filters.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our students are more attentive to the class . We meet internal and external data protection rules.

  ### 6. Easy to use and always operational.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Easy to use interface and wide variety filtering settings. Innovative standalone applications and detailed reporting on internet browsing history.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

DNSFilter sometimes has issues receiving packets from mobile vendors. Using the vendors standard APN settings like "internet" , "Afrihost" , "myMTN" and "rain" causes DNSFilter DNS resolution servers to not receive(deny) the packet(From our servers we get a DNS event 5504 error)(Cloudflare dns resolution servers has no issues with this). Most common solution to this is using a more un secure APN setting "unrestricted" .

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Business browsing filtering to deny access to potential harmful sites.

  ### 7. Better than OpenDNS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis Enrique R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Filter is very easy to use. Subscription service is more affordable than OpenDNS

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

I wish the MSP dashboard was more seamless. For example I need to apply settings to each site. I wish there was a way to globally apply settings to all sites.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Give it a try. You will like it. Support is great and replies quickly. Filter is very easy to use. Subscription service is more affordable than OpenDNS. Also please check out the YouTube channel Lawrence Systems. They recently did a comparison of some DNS filter services.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping me add internet protecting layer to my customers sites.

  ### 8. Convenient and Effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 24, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Only DNSFilter has provided the ease of use and effective filtering that our company needed. The cost is fair for the service provided. I’ve tried other similar companies but experienced a degradation of service and loopholes in their filtering categories. Customer support is also fast and easy to contact.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

I would like to see some kind of time based scheduling system wherein a particular filtering category would be allowed for access. For example, allow YouTube access over lunch break. I’m willing to wait for this to happen. I’ve already communicated the same with them.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

From what I know you can test drive DNSFilter free for 14 days as a test.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Phishing sites and general time wasters are filtered out of our network. New sites for consideration are easily filtered out using manual intervention/settings.

  ### 9. DNS Filter is an Essential Component of Compliance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew C. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

DNS filtering controls your computer's access to unverified or suspicious sites. This additional layer of protection is critical to protect the smallest businesses.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

I want branded customizable monthly automatic reports for customers. I am not able to showcase the DNS Filtering Service as much as I want to.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Every month protection from threats shows up in the reports. This is important for customer understanding of why they need DNS Filtering.

  ### 10. Life saver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Blocking Adult Content, take control of your life really thats all this is about for me

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Cannot block Tor
Cannot block Brave with Tor

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Privacy and regulations

  ### 11. Easy to deploy, fast, reliable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Reliable and fast. Our prior solutions were slow

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Windows client can sometimes be finicky.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No on-site filtering hardware to maintain is awesome.

  ### 12. DNSFilter does exactly what it says, and it does it well.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy J. | Senior Systems Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

DNSFilter is easy to use and is a cost-effective way to add another layer of protection to our network.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

There is not much to dislike, We've had a few issues in the past with the roaming clients, but those have largely been resolved and support was quick to help. Just recently I noticed that it looks like they've updated their pricing structure to be based on the number of users rather than usage which I think is a step in the wrong direction.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Web filtering. We replaced our need for an outdated proxy server with the ability to filter DNS requests. This has been a much simpler approach for us and requires much less time to administer and manage.

  ### 13. What I was looking for is to get rid of my WAF Appliances

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edison C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

As NGOs with regional branches across Africa we were looking for a solution with no hardware appliances. My first concerns was how to manage WAF solutions remotely. In a nutshell with DNSFilter all you have to do is sign up an account, create a filter policy and deploy you sites.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

I would like to have compatibility with Active Directory. Many networks use Active Directory by default, so it should be a mandatory feature.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Keep in mind that there's no support for Active Directory networks.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNS Filter is a cost-effective solution, you don't have to invest in expensive appliance and there's no cost for implementation, everything can be deployed remotely. We have saving a lot of money.

  ### 14. DNSFilter - So simple to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heath L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

As a small office, we have limited amounts of time to dedicate to specific IT chores especially filtering of content. With DNSFilter, our organization spends a tiny fraction of the time on filtering content and updating content packages compared to products we have used previously.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

There really is not anything to dislike about the service and DNSFilter. They are responsive, reasonable and effective.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our organization must filter web content to satisfy CIPA regulatory provisions. DNS Filter is the perfect solution for our needs to satisfy CIPA requirements.

  ### 15. Excellent DNS protection for SMB with little effort

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Simple to use and setup especially with the roaming client. Mostly fades into the background and doesnt interrupt your work. Pricing is excellent.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Hard to know how much it is really helping. We get weekly reports but it's tough to know which threats would have also been blocked by our endpoint security or our email security.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to stop threats from entering the network. Using this as part of a layered approach to security for an SMB with no full time IT staff.

  ### 16. Peace of Mind in Reinforcing the Human Firewall!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Not only do I have control over the DNS queries of all devices registered to the service, no matter what network the device is connected to, but I also have insight into who may need additional training to avoid accidentally connecting to rogue or banned content!

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Not much! It's really solid, and I haven't been able to bypass without using my administrative authority to disable the dns filtering manually. If I was an unpriviledged user, I would not be able to bypass this filter without using another device that was not connected/registered to the DNSFilter Network.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Extra Layer of Defense against botnets, malware, and other malicious/rogue DNS queries.

  ### 17. Excellent program with great Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shawn H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2021

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

The reports are easy to access. Staff very accomodating.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Had trouble at the beginning creating a reseller account. Having trouble setting up Relay so I can drill down.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

It is a very robust platform that does many things.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Website content filtering for a school. Hopefully will be able to drill down to workstations using threats report.

  ### 18. Great Service & Responsive Support/Dev Team

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richie S. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

The support has been good at responding within a reasonable amount of time. We have had some unusual use cases and they have helped us through the unique situations.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

I really can't think of any problems at this time.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Their services have helped us reduce calls resulting from phishing sites trying to scam our clients and users. We are spending less time managing our services.

  ### 19. DNSFilter, Gets the job done with active development on feature requests

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas B. | Mr, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Single Pane access into insights of what the system is blocking as well as insights into what is being accessed from the network. It is both easy to set up clients and check their status which gives you an overview of what is being blocked and accessed by rank. The ability to also hide and NOT capture the data also is great for customers who want protection without the reporting or recording into the system.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Sometimes the Roaming client can become nonresponsive, but a quick restart of the service normally brings it back online. It can cause disruption if end-users or support staff forget to check and see if this is happening when fielding support calls for internet connectivity losses.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensuring reliable DNS to endpoints wherever they are located is a big plus. The others being the filtering and reporting functionality that comes with the service. Customers also like the reports and insights that can be sent to them with regards to the above.

  ### 20. a more prudent and unbreakable security with the services of DNSfilter

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

It is an excellent server based mainly on the backup and over protection of content from existing threats for those developed in IT especially, with curious features, which allow the system to be unbreakable, allowing each of these workers, destined to the areas of advanced information, to safeguard their progress and projects in a very safe way, to not repress losses, with an expandable storage space, is based on the DNS, what I love most about this product is that it promotes a high category technology and artificial intelligence that analyzes the domains and attacks in real time, so that the risk of loss is in a percentage range, strictly low, calling attention in immense proportions.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

It would be of great help that this system increases an ability of encryption, to have a double insurance of the high importance data that are safeguarded in these servers, more than anything to reinforce a more promising confidence between the users that use this software and the company that developed the system, as well as a creation of reports of every detail of the day to day, so that they are aware of the possible threats that could be an interruption to the work that is done in the departments of a company dedicated to IT, and thus to obtain a more understandable information and in physical of the problems that happen.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

It is an incredible system, which is based on artificial intelligence that analyzes the domains in real time, which means that it stops many more threats in a short period of time, than in human reviews, because these would take weeks to find threats that can be a total disaster for the files and data that can be found in one of these digital vaults, mentioning that it acquires incredible storage spaces, so that there are no limits to protect these information channels, being ideal for organizations with prominent departments in IT, being of great support for these agencies, which suffer from cyber attacks constantly.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly we use this software as our main source of high cyber security to overprotect every file, document and information that is encrypted in the servers of this system, since they are, invoices, financial accounts, passwords and among other misdeeds of great importance to our company, this server helps us to keep out cyber threat, mostly in our departments dedicated mainly to information technology, as they contain information and productive advances, which are at a degree of privacy and enters the policies of our organization, as it has been of great support and security, in which we can place our trust.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

A problem that persists in dnsfilter is found in its central data processing unit, because an algorithm deteriorates the scalability operation of analytical security, which is evident when writing an operational balance process of automatic web browsing, which seeks to trigger a profitable connection of information conversion, preventing the management of an accessible level of negotiation, affecting the directions of the company in terms of intelligent approach to statistical resolution of monitored progress.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

We recommend each of the formats that are presented with dnsfilter, because their protections exercise a prolonged execution of performance metrics, reports warning of inappropriate ratings, information technology regulations, direct purchase order management, indication of programmed learning, ease of automatic use of operating systems, white dimensions, with a black panel expressed in white letters, appropriate a great design to this platform, to allow inputs of unique and differential information advances for my company.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To treat approximate performance graph points, protect digital contact branches of metadata, join support points of stable internet networks, plan executions of the commercial sector of products, initiate automatic responses in terms of performance and tracking of web leaks, training's of new technology devices, centralization's of advanced evaluation of operational costs, functional addresses of processable domain of joint transmission, artificially powered algorithms, realization of appropriate analytical schemes, are executed to promote a qualified service such as dnsfilter.

  ### 23. Comprehensive security compositions are achieved with dnsfilter software.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

The problem of dnsfilter is in its preparation of situational analysis, in which when presenting the results obtained by its system, it prevents the downloading and display of data corresponding to such actions, preventing the user from having the ability to recognize errors and improvements that have been occurring in their operation margin of sales and marketing work of products.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

For its ease of incorporation of artificial intelligence, strategic planning of business resources, the approach of application of cloud backup, administration and configuration of remote threats, rich monitoring of web use, encryption of reports and operational traffic of workflows, its new and unique page design combined with visual accuracy, its performance trending, the functional use of the global network of changes, through a level of encryption presentation of analysis that establish in dnsfilter leveled preparations of service automation.

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Good quality reporting and clear language throughout. Complete Whitelabelling available for resellers and MSPs.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

DNS Filter could do with a few more customisation options and an option for a randomly scrolling collection of 'allow' passcodes rather than a master password that needs constant changing. An ability to custom design your block page with more details i.e category / block reason etc would be useful to reduce third party queries.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

For internal or remote workers DNS Filter has a solution to resolve your DNS security. Simple to deploy and easy to bill.

The setup couldn't be simpler and its very easy to assign areas to block as well as very easy to whitelist and blacklist as needed. The pricing is very reasonable and I have never had an issue with uptime.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

It would be nice to see a comparison of sites on the total requests graph. That may be coming the in the data explorer but I haven't checked yet.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Its a great service, get it if you need to manage DNS requests.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The blocking of malicious and inappropriate sites is the primary use. However, speeding up latency times is always a great benefit as well.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping small businesses remain compliant and protected from malicious sites or inappropriate content.

  ### 29. MSP recommends to another MSP

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin E. | CEO/President - 360° IT Consulting, Server Management, IT Security, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Easy of use. It was easy to get a bunch of our clients into the system, and once we figured out the script to deploy it - they all started populating pretty fast. The interface is also much cleaner than some of your competitors.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

I already discussed with Kevin a few things:
• Nested/child filters needs to be a thing
• Your deployment information for the Mac is slightly wrong (depending on your MDM)
• Nomenclature about the word "users"
• Flow of the UI.
• The fact that under Policies -> Filtering, you can see the status of Policies that are not applied to that particular site. In an MSP model, each organization should only see thier own things. So if I go into a organization and under Policies -> filtering see 2 global policies and next to it it says "7 sites" - I'm going to be curious what other sites.....even though it's not relavent to that one client.

things like that.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Build global policies for each of your organizations and apply each one separatly, but only after DNS Filter fixes the ability to see other policies from within separate organizations (again MSP view)

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All our clients are working from home now, so we are deploying DNSFilter to be able to protect those machines while they are not under an office wide network. While in the office, the Meraki does ATP but since they aren't there, and sometimes work without VPN - we are substituing DNSFilter to protect the machines.

**Official Response from Serena Raymond:**

> Justin, thanks for your review and being a long-time DNSFilter customer! We also appreciate the feedback on what you'd like to see improved. I've shared your feedback directly with our product. I can tell you, that we are working on updating our UI and making things easier to understand. Our Roaming Clients page is one that will be updated soon that I think will help you in terms of management and visibility! If you are interested, the product team would welcome your feedback directly! You can also add feedback to the features request section of our publicly available roadmap. Our product team monitors this very closely!

  ### 30. Great DNS Filtering

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Great reporting and easy setup. I was up and running quickly. The reporting gives lots of information. I have installed this at several of my clients and they love the security and protection. They also like the feature where they can log into their site and see what internet sites their systems are accessing.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

I have not found anything yet to dislike. it does the job and does it very well.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

The price is just right for the features and product. If you are thinking about using a DNS service then DnsFilter should fill your needs.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer protection! The average person would not know if the site they were visiting are bad sites. This protects my clients for those sites. Also there are always sites you don't want your clients to go to and this helps prevent that.

  ### 31. The alternative DNS Filtering service the world has been waiting for

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brent F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

DNSFilter has all of the same features as their leading competitors, yet provide a more personable experience with a friendly team there to back you up. Additionally, they have reasonable minimums, no contracts, a sleek and intuitive UI, and allegedly, an unbeatable AI.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Its clear that some of DNSFilters features are new, which means they're still building those out and improving the UX. I'd say that's the only downside to DNSFilter is that some features/functions seem to be in the early stages and a work in progress compared to their competitors. However, the functionality is there, and I actually prefer an ongoing development process as that means things are only getting better, and they're already great!

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Speak with their team, get a trial, fall in love.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use DNSFilter in our MSP environment to protect ourselves and our clients. We lightly utilize the category filtering, as our main goal is to block phishing/malicious sites which DNSFilter does a great job at. Additionally, the general statistics of top blocked and allowed domains is always great for situational awareness.

  ### 32. Solid service, excellent support

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNS Filter has provided another layer of security for our clients while adding an additional revenue stream for us as an MSP.

  ### 39. DNSFilter for Edu

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wesley S. | Owner/Consultant, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2019

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

The ease of administration and the updated categories make it easy to use. I love the dashboard and reporting. DNSFilter has been really good at making it easy to navigate, configure and then deploy. The filters seem to block everything that I need and if something is allowed, I can just add it to the Blacklist. I am very happy with the SafeSearch and YouTube restricted modes. My students spend a lot of time looking to YouTube videos, but I need to be able to restrict what they see and DNSFilter does a great job at that.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Sometimes blocks needed resources but that goes with anything that you use. It will take a little bit of tweaking to get it setup the way I would like it. If it blocks sites I need then I can quickly add them to the Whitelist. I do like the ability to deploy it via dns forwards or the client software. There really isn't much that I dislike about the service.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Buy it

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSFilter keeps my students on task and away from time wasters. DNSFilter does a good job of blocking the gaming sites that my students like to visit. I can also print reports and manage the filter from outside of the classroom. Our school does have a campus wide filter, but DNSFilter lets me have better control of what can be accessed. It is worth the cost.

  ### 40. Easy To Implement And Manage, Very Happy With The DNSFilter platform - service!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Remco K. | Business Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

The DNSFilter platform does exactly what it's design to do really well. Their technology stands out and is definitely a differentiator vs the competition. It works exactly as described and promoted.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

There is nothing to dislike. The product just works. The more we use the product the more we learn what it can do for our organisation and clients.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Expand the network and improve support

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives back time to both users and IT staff that would have to deal with phishing, malware attacks. As we can now concentrate on our core business, DNSFilter is definitely a tremendous cost saver for us.

  ### 41. DNS the easy way

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

It’s simplicity, ease of usage the reporting.

The cost is not too expensive either

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Nothing to dislike the product does what it’s supposed to do.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No Malware website’s accessed
No phishing websites accessed
Keeps the organisation clean

  ### 42. Best web-based solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2019

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Very affordable price.
The initial setup only took 30 minutes or so, and that included creating a custom block page with our logo. Filtering is set by categories, blacklists, and whitelists. In addition, there are options to block threats like cryptomining, malware, phishing, proxies, and others. You can also create different policies based on the source IP address. So, we could have the faculty and staff VLAN have one policy while the student VLANs have different policies. The pricing is also great in comparison to Cisco Umbrella.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

Pricing model being user based and not usage.
Should have better prices for education institutions.
Sometimes it can be hard to keep up with new features. The company does send email announcements out, but I'll have the experience of logging in, seeing something new and wondering how long it's been there.
Based on site and not user, this is not a good solution for mobile users. They recently introduced a mobile client, but for Windows only. Filter bypass passwords are universal, and not configurable for individuals.
Currently there is no Chrome OS app. At this point deployment of different policies, like for a Guest Network, is difficult as it requires changes to the DNS server of choice for those devices (either on a network or device level).
AD integration is still a need. Would also like to see a master view map that shows stats from all locations with the bubbles.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

This DNS Solutions is diffrent then other old school providers. With their AI technology they can instantly calagorize website. Which is what others lack. They offer the option to enable safe search and they are a very transparent company that is willing to adapt and work with their customers.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At our school, we switched from Draytek WCF and couldn't be happier.
The initial setup only took 30 minutes. We could have the faculty and staff VLAN have one policy while the student VLANs have different policies. The pricing is also great in comparison to competition.

  ### 43. It's the best DNS content filter I have found

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thiago R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

It was the best cost benefit and product with more API endpoints I have found

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

My real problem was to pay in RBL. I'm from Brazil.
I dislike to not see NAT IPs in the reports. It's necessary to export.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

It's a great software and perfect to integrate with another softwares.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a hotspot software and I would like to offer Content Filter to my customers and I needed an API to integrate with my software

  ### 44. DNS Filter does what its supposed to, filter the Web.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

Its easy to setup and use. It is intuitive to manage and make changes on the fly.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

So far there is nothing that I dislike about DNSFilter. It works as it should and does everything I want it to do.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

School requirements to filter the Internet for students. Blocking inappropriate sites from students. Protecting administration and staff from Web threats.

  ### 45. Good service, easy to deploy and use.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ido N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

The ease of use.
Setting up clients and sites are quick and easy.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

The diversity of the pricing plans.
As home user the cheapest plan it too pricey.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

If you look for easy to implement service to filter and protect from malware, DNSFilter is good choice.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I looked for Web Filtering service and DNSFilter have good one.
In 5 minutes I had everything working as I wanted.

  ### 46. Very intuitive setup and configuration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

It is extremely easy to get started with DNSFilter. The help documentation is good and answers pretty much everything needed to get deployments going. The roaming agent is very easy to deploy. Setting up policies is simple. You can configure policies to block threats, categories of websites, or both. The ability to customize the block pages is also easy, which allows users to easily ask for help in case they believe a website is blocked by accident. So far I haven't run into anything that seemed like it was more difficult than it should be.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

There are a few important features missing, although they are on the roadmap. Namely, MFA is not yet implemented, which is crucial in this day and age. Also, for MSPs, global policies are not yet implemented. Once these features are added DNSFilter will be much more well-rounded. Until then, it'll be a bit more difficult to manage.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

I recommend signing up for the trial and testing it out. I believe you'll quickly see how easy to use the product is, and quickly learn whether it will meet your needs.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DNSFilter provides to us an easy way to protect against online threats, as well as enforce policies on web browsing at work. There is a good selection of categories which can be selectively blocked. So far it has been easy to deploy, as well as easy to use post-deployment. The roaming agent provides this protection to mobile computers even while they're off of the company network.

  ### 47. DNSFilter is a company that love their product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2020

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

I love the ability to match my site with a hostname instead of a (dynamic) IP.
ALso the NAT IPs and the one-click CIPA compliance are unique.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

They don't have local servers in my country yet.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

Try and see if it fulfill your needs.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Protection from dangerous websites, including parked and newly created domains

  ### 48. The most useful filter that my business uses.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony Q. B. | IT Support Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2019

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

I like this system because it allows me to be able to focus on my work, thus avoiding going into internet pages that will take away time or work concentration. I have been using this system for about 3 years and it has undoubtedly allowed me to improve my work performance.

At the beginning when I was looking for a system like DNSFIlter, I got it by chance and seeing all its features and everything it is capable of doing I loved it. But when I saw its price I did not think twice more and I bought it immediately. I like its advanced filter system and its easy configuration system among many other features.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

This system is so powerful that it is capable of blocking everything, but if I have run into a new feature that reports to the technical support team and is that it does not have a friendly personalization system that allows me to place additional exceptions to some pages that need to be used. I hope that in the next updates this feature can come.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

I highly recommend this system to all my acquaintances, since it is a true protector of your network and the most interesting part of this system is its price. Since I have it, I have been able to study each of its characteristics and I can say that it is worth having it.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Thanks to this system I have been able to provide a stronger layer of protection for all devices in my company, so that someone unexpected can enter and steal valuable information or that a virus or malware from a website can infect a computer.

  ### 49. DNS Filtering

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2019

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

HSTS Strict HTTP Transport compliance. Built-In graphing in real-time instead of having to export and, load in excel all the data for a presentation. It's really easy to setup and, comes with lots of documentation. New query log feature has just become available for 'roaming window' installations.

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

If you don't already have the workstation set-up you have to turn off the filter to access the certs to install in the browser. So every workstation will have to be set-up individually.

**Recommendations to others considering DNSFilter:**

It's a great quick fix. If you don't mind sharing all of your companies DNS traffic with a third-party to monitor, in this case a AI.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have not experienced any threats in the last week after using DNSFilter. The DNS traffic is no longer visible on the network thanks to HSTS.

  ### 50. Great product with the great price!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2019

**What do you like best about DNSFilter?**

We used to use Webroot DNS and this can't even compare. DNSfilter is better 100 times, and we would recommend to anyone. Great service, great customer support!

**What do you dislike about DNSFilter?**

We wish we can send reports to each client individually. We wish we don't have to install certificates on the computers when we deploy on network dns filtering.

**What problems is DNSFilter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We believe with this we will stop ransomware and also adware on the clients browsers.

  - [Would you ever consider attempting to take the top most frequently blocked sites/urls across all of your educational institution clients and within the filtering system suggest these in the blacklist portal for policy editing? This could help us all stay on the same page in regards to the popular trends/games the students are into at that time and be a little more proactive for our administration. For example, there was a hit game called surviv.io that was blocked by the gaming policy but could be found at ~10 diff URLs across the web, making it hard to block completely.
