## DiskStation Reviews
  ### 1. Multi Functional Network-Attached Storage server

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

It's straightforward to configure and easy to recover or import the data in the device failures. System Administration, user management, and can deploy VM and containers directly. It's very reliable storage, as I experienced for the hypervisor.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

As such i did not find any thing to say that I dislike any feature or the solution provided by the disk station. Let us get an option to self configure the security as per our wise.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With DiskStation, I have the solution of my companies data space issue and file system management, data protection against hardware failure, and direct deploy container to hypervisor.

  ### 2. The best NAS I’ve ever had.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2021

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

What I like best at this point is the security features of DSM 7.0. With multiple 2 step verification methods available as well as sign sign on.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I dislike that with the new version of DSM they don't allow packages that need root priviliages to run. So the developers have been slow to adapt to this change limiting the 3rd party apps that are currently available.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My DS220+ Is an intergral part of my home infrastructure. As a backup for all my Macs, my workstation and serves as my Home Media Server, self hosted password vault, Identity provider, and much more

  ### 3. Diskstation - The perfect NAS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2021

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Diskstation is an all-in-one solution from Synology for sharing files, while also making it easy to collaborate with other users.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Needs more periodic updates on the available apps. Customer support is a hit or miss.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

Go for it. It's the best NAS available on the market right now.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Diskstation as a NAS for sharing files and folders among users. The built-in Synology drive app also helps us in collaborating through documents.

  ### 4. The best NAS available on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andriy S. | Back End Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2020

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The most useful feature of Synology is lots of applications available for it. Synology has its own office suite and all your data is "in house", so no additional charges and full control.

The BEST in my opinion are:
- Active back up for business - that application can backup your machine "live" without a lot of pressure on the hardware. I saved 100 of times - when you just inadvertently delete some important file but you can find that file on your NAS.

- Synology drive - it's outstanding app, much better than Dropbox with the possibility to work in "sync mode" and just drive

- Synology moments is the best app for managing your picture. After you upload all your photo it uses its facial recognition functionality and I found a lot of picture of myself that I completely forgot that I had. In addition you can browse your picture in chronological way.

Its file system is the most convenient to work with and you have very granular control about access right, on the user or group level. The most useful here is possibility to share file with others - with a right click you can generate a link and just share it.

I have a Synology with virtualization functionality and I have a virtual machine cluster inside a Synology box. It even has Docker functionality which I frequently use as testing environment. So with this NAS you solve a lot of problems:
- backing up all your data (live)
- host media files that you can stream to any device
- keep all your data "in house" without 3rd party software

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

There are couple of issues:
- They do not have full compatibility with linux OS
- They not cheap
- The setting up and open all necessary ports for each of their application was not easy and took a while

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

The most important recommendation is to use Synology File System (never choose EXT4) when setting up the system. Install anitivirus from applications. Buy system with Virtualization and Docker support - even if you do not use them.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I solved the most important problem which is backing up all my data. The main benefit - that Synology is "full-service" data application with a lot of extra functionality that other competitors do not have.

  ### 5. Safe storage of all company documentation !!!!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafael P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2020

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

It is a powerful platform that has helped us in a large percentage when it comes to encrypting the most important data that we handle every day, to which we can implement a range of security, which is necessary to protect and even manage them with confidence, We add this to a complete verification of access controls on each device, allowing us to monitor in real time, finding threats faster to prevent them from achieving their objective and even irreversibly entering the system. Likewise, we can configure it so that there are no downtimes, eliminating the probability of threat filtering by 99.9%, this backup is very advantageous in relation to laptops.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

The operating system with which it was developed should be updated, this would allow a much faster development than it currently offers, which is good and very powerful, but an improvement would not hurt, this is also due to its high-end hardware Low space usage which can limit performance compared to Intel-based hardware.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

In the field of security and data storage, this platform is the most intelligent, and its implementation is very easy to configure. For its part, the interface and its functions are extremely professional, accommodating features that generate a lot of confidence and peace of mind. Its cloud-based development capacity facilitates access both in the company and outside, giving you the freedom to access files when necessary, making it very easy to find a document on this platform even on mobile devices thanks to its complete filter search, without a doubt its management, storage and security of documents is the most beneficial thing that an organization can have.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage the websites, networks and emails with access control in the interactions that may arise. It is the best way we have to store documents and create a backup or backup, and then find what we are looking for easily through a highly professional filter, it is also very easy to use and understand. Certainly the entire team of developers and administrators rely on its functions for the performance and optimization of the workflow.

  ### 6. Good hardware and software for reliable backup

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eng Han G. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2020

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

It works well out of the box with clear instructions and a logical interface in DSM (DiskStation Manager) to set up shares. There are also a useful number of additional features and packages that allow the NAS to be functional for home or business use. The wizard to automate access from outside the local network is also a huge time saver. The automated features for maintenance helps to reduce hassle.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Generally, the amount of RAM is lower than other models at a similar price point so RAM upgrades should be budgeted for. Currently, the separation of Photo Station and Memories before DSM 7's release makes photo management more cluttered than necessary.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to increase backup options for multiple users, allowing for greater peace of mind. It has also enabled easy management of files from multiple users and clients, which makes collaboration and access much easier. The amount of storage is now user-controlled and there is no worry about running out of space with online providers.

  ### 7. Synology Disk Station Takes The Complexities Out of File Sharing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary G. | Concierge Technology Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2021

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Setting up and maintainting a server for a small business is incredibly simple using DiskStation. From sharing files internally, to setting up TimeMachine backups, to maintaining users, Disk Station does it all quickly and intuitively,

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

The one thing that was challenging to set up was figiuring out sharing settngs for subfolders.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our team needed on-site file storage to move away from cloud services like Dropbox. We also needed a centralized backup system to store our TimeMachine backups.

  ### 8. DiskStation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Machinery | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The Synology DiskStation has be so valuable to our organization. We use it to store large video files as well as backup our O365 tenant. There are so many "apps" you can install to customize the device as well. It's a perfect fit for us.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

The DiskStation treats backups oddly. It will show an entire O365 backup as failed/warning, even if the only problem is one message or calendar event.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a have budget-friendly solution for backing up our O365 data as well as something that can provide additional storage space for larger files. It's a win-win for our organization.

  ### 9. Easy-to-install nas device.

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

I used to have problems with the restoration when I switched phones. Now nmo more problems.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

You may find cheaper solutions (but not better)

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralized data (photos & video) protected by a Raid1. It's possible to share data with all devices at home. Reliable device.

  ### 11. Filter control and security for me is an attractive service !!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda M. | Business Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2020

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Through this platform we encrypt our data, giving it the necessary security to protect it and even manage it with confidence. We verify access controls and perform real-time monitoring, which allows us to find or detect threats before they perpetuate themselves in the system and cause us irreversible damage. We configured it to be fully active, that is, there are no downtimes so there is no probability of threat filtering. We can also access the NAS remotely and use it for storage and backup which is advantageous in relation to the capacity of laptops.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Sometimes obstacles may arise in which it is necessary to go to online support, certainly, they may not have the necessary amount of videos and information with which they can satisfy any problem, this can be a nuisance for some of the users, however we do not feel uncomfortable with this, we simply look for information from other sources familiar with the platform and find a quick solution.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

It is the best option in terms of security and storage of important data, the platform is intelligent, easy to configure even for those who are new to networking and online storage. It's professional, provides essential features that build a lot of confidence. It is a cloud-based tool, which facilitates access both in the company and outside of it, allowing access to files when required, in addition, it is very easy to find a document on this platform thanks to its complete search filter, For this reason, it is a powerful document management, storage and security software.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We improved our authentication path. We manage our websites with granular control of the various accesses to them. We store documents locally and at the same time we also create a backup copy of them in the cloud, to later find what we are looking for easily, taking into account that the menus are very easy to use and understand, that is, it has made it easier for us to make copies security of critical data, as well as access to that data. Even our developers thrive on its features as it helps them with AIO backups.

  ### 12. Reliable Product

The product is reliable. It has been running for 7 years without a single issue. The web interface is easy to use. The widgets also make it easy to monitor system health and performance.

Expensive initial investment but typically anything in this class is expensive - especially for a really small business.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

This product probably gives a small business the best bang for their buck compared to others.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a great way to backup our important data and to keep long term data in deep storage.

  ### 13. DiskStation Save and Backup.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2020

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

For us, it is an innovative system. DiskStation allows us to keep our files and documents safe in the cloud system, in this way we save each of our information and back it up, avoiding loss or theft from third parties, mainly for us it allows us to free memory space in the computer adding this space to the cloud where it is now much more secure and with a security filter, I like it.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I have no drawbacks regarding the system, I liked its functionality, opening solutions for us in the sense of saving in the cloud, now we keep information backed up and from what I have observed there are no complaints about its function, so I love it.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

This service works for us and can serve other companies by providing backup and security solutions in addition to thinking about features that provide solutions.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Definitely the first problem solved is the freeing of space in our main memory disk in the computer. Now we keep this information protected in the cloud, but it also allows saving files in cloud , which is safer and with a greater filter, if we want to use this system In the database it makes it much easier to manage because it eliminates any duplicate data, erroneous information in this way we maintain a more optimized base. There are many ideas that can be carried out with this software.

This platform allows backup copies with an intuitive operating system. It is easy to install, it produces applications that handle everything from CRM and CMS installations to security cameras and virtualization. It has an optimal customer service and with the greatest disposition to help the user through email and mobile phone. It is fast and very useful.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Our results have been very good and satisfactory, the only thing I should mention is that it has a high learning curve and they should update it, that would be the only thing. I have no relative comment, since I have not presented any problems or inconveniences.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

It is recommended for any company, backups and backups allow to obtain a secure database, it generates confidence and a lot of peace of mind. It is always constantly updated, it is functional and also its interface is easy to navigate despite the learning curve that it has.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This platform has a high learning curve for some people but it is essential to know how to use it to get all the effective performance and get the most out of Disktation. The security updates are really fast and compatible with previous versions, at this time it runs on the most recent siygnology hardware, as well as the oldest, its configuration is simple and the system allows us to perform an optimal job with the best performance and total fluidity.

  ### 16. Affordable NAS, Enterprise Apps, Low Operational Cost

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew Y. | Senior Solutions Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2020

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Synology provides a very solid and robust offering with their desktop and rackmount NAS devices.
Reliable hardware, provides fast performance for a variety of use cases. We have used them as simple file servers, print servers, iSCSI targets, backup repositories, etc.
They also have support with their Active Backup platform for providing disaster recovery options for hypervisors.

The integration with Synology C2 provides almost unbeatable cloud storage prices. We were hardpressed to find lower storage costs, even when looking at blob storage in Azure or AWS, as other backup software will have a licensing cost that you must account for on top of the actual cloud storage costs.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

The manufacturer warranty is only 1 year, which can cause issues with downtime and RMAs.
Due to the affordable nature, however, it is always an option to have a secondary, high availability or backup NAS.

Currently, C2 cloud backup storage is only available in EU datacenters, which could cause issues with certain compliances.
Synology is working to make C2 available in USA datacenters, which will remedy this issue.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

Consider the enterprise apps available (most at no additional cost) with DiskStation, including cloud backup, VPN server, print server, iSCSI support, remote access, etc.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the DiskStations as file servers, VPN servers, backup repositories, Time Machine backup storage, iSCSI targets, and more.
They also offer enterprise level backup and offsite storage replication options, as well as disaster recovery options for hypervisors.

  ### 17. A best cloud base storage and collaboration service.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashlyn B. | Chief Executive Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

DiskStation is used to solve new challenges in the business and it is a Network Attached Storage device that I can connect on my home and office network. It is very easy to install and manage this application and provides solid performance to its users. Lots of applications are available in DiskStation and It is a very slim and smart application for data management. This application is also used for data backup and it also boosts productivity and morale. It provides management for business and it is a data security application. It provides cloud services because it is a cloud storage application.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

It lacks the sophistication of an alert gadget and signals ought to be extra robust. Sometimes they simply end working and after reboot signals pop up again. And from time to time when I word some problems, there are no working alerts. Its internet interface is handy to use however lacks the anticipated sophistication. It’s difficult to set up and locate reporting features.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this application for my official and personal use. This application fulfills my all needs which I want from this application. It provides management for its users. It is one of the most important applications for business use because it provides all the safety measures, productivity, and backup for files. I recommend using this application for business.

  ### 18. Better network storage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civil Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The best thing about Synology servers is that they have their own operating system and many of their own applications such as Cloud Sync, Active Backup for GSUITE and many others. They also have a lot of security against virus attacks.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

What I like least is the web interface for remote access, since if the browser is not updated it can cause problems when accessing the server.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

There are many network servers and many brands, I recommend Diskstation for ease of installation, just connect to the network and look for it, you already have an installation and configuration wizard. It also has many applications to install, backups, antivirus ....

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In the company we work with a lot of information, and we store it in a synology that has Cloud Sync installed with a GSUITE account. This allows the server itself to be backing up the cloud while working with it.

  ### 19. Server without borders

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Being able to access company files without an hassle is an amazing thing.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I have not come across anything to dislike I'm new to Synology products.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

Support, I got to attend a free event that Synology held and learn more and speak to experts in the field. They also had their sales team on hand to chat as well.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to access files and documents with ease. No worries of crashing sever software and damaged files

  ### 20. Powerful, secure and flexible.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Lot of features, secure and software update. Perfect product for home & business.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I dislike price of Surveillance Station licence. By default, my 2411+ can only connect to 2 Ipcams.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before i use Synology Diskstation, i have lot of problems to secure my files, and i have lot of problem with stability. My Freenas need to be reboot for 4 days.

  ### 21. A must have to suplement your cloud storage solution!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nung B. | Sr. DevOps Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

I like that this unit is robust, reliable and quiet. I have a 4 disk NAS and installation is a breeze. Synology also has the ability to host numerous applications. I enjoyed having my own private Github before they opened up to free private repos. I love the Plex app being hosted on it as well since I leave this on all the time.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I dislike that I can't get my HD Homerun Live TV and DVR to work with Plex running on my Synology.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

Many NAS do a great job hosting disks and network performance. As a home business user sound and heat were of concern and this company does a great job in keeping those features a priority.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For things I don't want in anyone else's cloud, I can store on my NAS. It's a balance of own vs rent, but doing a hybrid cloud has its benefits.

  ### 22. Great NAS solution for those on a budget

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Geoffrey J. | Network Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Synology DiskStation products offer a wide array of features that are appealing to a small business, such as secure shared file storage, iSCSI targets, support for multiple protocols such as SMB, AFP, NFS, iSCSI, FTP, etc., and has been very reliable.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Synology lacks in the high bandwidth area. Most of their products only have 1Gbps interfaces, and adding an add-on card after the fact can be difficult for many small business users to do on their own.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

If you're looking for a way to centrally store files that are needed by multiple users, but do not or can't afford higher end enterprise grade SANs, Synology DiskStation is a great choice.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a cheap way to offer shared storage for our internal staff to share files, program installs, and more.

  ### 23. Definitely Great for Home/Small Business Use, Decent for Professional Use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Berkley S. | Systems Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

I love the ease of use, the GUI web based management console, the plethora of features offered, and the native integrations of so many tools.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

The speeds for production use are a little shy of what I'd expect for enterprise applications.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

Make sure you know what speeds and access to your data you need. The synology is a very cost effective solution, but at some enterprise application speeds the I/O can be a little slow depending on your needs.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to move a lot of our long-term cold storage to the diskstation and save on costs vs other enterprise storage options

  ### 24. Ultimate NAS Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

If you are looking for a NAS provider, Synology is great and there software is top notch.

Nothing, it is like its own Operating system but for you NAS devices.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup.

  ### 25. Generally stable - Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve C. | Owner, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2018

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The DiskStation Manager is one of the best parts of a Synology device. Loaded with excellent applications and built with the common user in mind it doesn't fail. Many of the basic features are quickly available from the main menu. Other items are available in the Control Panel.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Some items aren't immediately obvious and some applications aren't fully developed but they continue to improve it.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

This is a worthy product. I recommend it to many of my clients and use it personally.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cheap iscsi raid for local backup storage. DS Note is a worthy replacement for organizations that don't want their evernote/keep/one note data in the cloud. DS Video is an amazing tool for streaming your own content.

  ### 26. The most comprehensive Nas unit

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The most comprehensive Nas unit is very easy to install and the device is also available online. This automatically updates the operating system.
During the update, there is a shortage of 2 minutes of access. Raid 1 support.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

There's no guarantee the products from Amazon.com in Turkey.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I copied the entire backup here. The data is safe now.

  ### 27. Great Value for Price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Synology Disk Manager is a very easy to use operating system for the Synology Array. All the basic functionality that you would expect in a NAS operating system. Visibility into all NAS metric are available and easy to understand along with updates and patches being easy to identify and apply. The new CMS feature of Disk Manager provided a single pane of glass for monitoring additional Synology Arrays which was a nice added feature.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

There isn't much to dislike other that the fact of not having a command line option and the fact that support isn't really at an 24x7x365 enterprise level. Having the option of talking with an engineer - even if there was a premium cost - would be a significant advantage.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

When looking at all the other NAS vendors the quality of the Disk Manager software makes the difference in the operation of these devices. Synology appears committed to the continued development of this platform which I consider important.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storage requirements continue to grow and the need for expandable storage as required is a must. Synology has made it easy to grow as needed. We also needed a system that could handle SSD drives. Synology has the option sets we were looking for in these mixed array setups.

  ### 28. One of the best software for NAS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nathan R. | Life coach and mentor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

It is very simple and reliable, it works, compared to other NAS software it is lightyears ahead
It also allows you to run different progrmas from within the NAS which makes it a powerhouse.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I think it could be faster, I don't like to wait long for folders to open up or for different "programs" to load on the screen.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

You don't have to think twice about it
It works, it is easy, it is realiable, you know what you are doing in a simple way.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running a NAS for a business or for a home with lots of media. This is by far the best solution.
I was able to make a home theater with the NAS without internet for example.

  ### 29. Easy to Use, Intuitive and Friendly Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colin O. | IT Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2018

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

I was easily able to figure out how to use Synology's DSM, and got myself up and running within a few minutes. Updates are a breeze, making it work as a NAS intermediary between our office scanner and our G-Suite drive was as simple as can be.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

There isn't much to dislike about Synology. I only wish that I had a Synology or two at home to use for the multitude of features that the DSM offers including integration with iTunes and Plex!

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a place to store our scans in separate network shares so that our HR team could securely send on- and off-boarding documents easily. This works great as both a primary and backup device. Synology's monitoring and administration are both top notch and why I continue to use and recommend Synology as a NAS.

  ### 30. Good Back up System

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike k. | Director of Creative Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The best feature for our use is the ability to automatically backup my team's machines without it being known to the user. My team isn't tech savvy. so having it backup in the background is very helpful and puts my team at ease.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

To access the backend remotely via the web browser doesn't go well with some browsers. I have to figure out a security workaround to make it work.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking for an easy backup/archive solution that wasn't cloud based. We liked the idea of having all of our backups local so they could be accessed today, or 5 years from now.

  ### 31. Does everything an OS is supposed to do

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark S. | Director Information Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

DSM is the heart of the OS - everything you need in an operating system. Similar to a graphical Linux. Great for simple maintenance of the system.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Sometimes you're way better off using the command line thru Putty, as the graphical interface doesn't have all the fine controls.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used to store and process about 36TB of video files.

  ### 32. Great device to organize data and share files to clients as well as employees

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

I love the easy setup. You can port forward or use their link. This serves as our companies file server, that we can share firmware updates with. This file station can be accessed from anywhere using a web browser.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

It can be a little slow at times but it depends on users and internet connection speeds.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

Depending on volume i would purchase a unit robust enough for your tasks

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This file server works flawlessly in our multi office environment. We can also make accounts for customers to view specific folders. We also have a private files for employees only. The File station can create temporary share links that can you download from without logging in.

  ### 33. Great for expanding home network storage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Using a laptop with limited space, I also enjoy the security of knowing my files are safe at home but accessible anywhere without any mothly cloud storage fees.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

The operating system is a little sluggish and moments software is a little clunky. This may be as I have an older disk station ds215

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Expanded storage accessible anywhere.

  ### 34. Synology DiskStation - Great solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank B. | EVP, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2018

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The ease of use for the solution, tied in with the Synology Product line, makes a great 1 - 2 punch for all of your NAS needs and wants. Whether you are a one-person shop, or you have a small or medium-size business, Synology has the solution for you,

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

It is a little confusing in getting the right NAS for a client, sometimes you will have to reach out to Synology directly.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

Continue to add new features to this solution, any company can start with a NAS, and have it grow with them as needed. Need more hard drive space upgrade or add new drives to the current unit. Looking to deploy a second unit for data redundancy not an issue, software is available for FREE to Sync 1 to another unit.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A client needed to have a backup for their O365, as well as a location for all their confidential documents, so key individuals could have access to them.

  ### 35. EASY USEFUL

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Medical Devices | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 22, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

The pre-packaged applications that make it super easy to set up, install, and run internal wiki pages, shared drives, shared document hosting, employee management software, and backup software.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Pay attention to which version of hardware you have, because some of the new packages aren't supported and minimum requirements aren't easily displayed on the package manager.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Facilitates sharing of files via a shared drive and shared documents (similar to Google Docs) while remaining internal to the company and not on "the cloud". Also aids in documentation and information sharing company-wide with the wiki page.

  ### 36. Great small business software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sporting Goods | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Synology has some very solid products and the software is very easy to use and user friendly.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

Some of the labeling is not intuitive. There are things that are not clear if you only go into the software occasionally.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

You can do a lot worse that Synology. Solid software and solid hardware. Look into their networking products too.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has made some of our backup functions much easier to perform.

  ### 37. First Time User

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2019

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

What I like the most so far is the ability to create a private cloud for my internal graphics team to help browse through photos placed in the drives. What's even better, the archive is user friendly and reliable.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I feel there's space to improve on but not much to dislike so far.

**Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:**

If protecting your data is top priority and being able to access that data from almost anywhere securely, DiskStation definitely does that and more and all in an intuitive user interface.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With DiskStation, this helps our visual media team archive photos and video in a much higher quality of back up protection. Reliable 5 RAID machines are expensive and Synology has made a much more affordable way of protecting our data and making it easy to manage.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2018

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Synology does a great job with their DiskStation software. It is simple but robust, full of endless features for all types of scenarios for your network storage. Some great features include email server, cloud backup and even a web server.

**What do you dislike about DiskStation?**

I have had a weird issues with the DiskStation and Windows Explorer in Windows 7. Sometimes, windows will not allow you to create files and folders inside the NAS folders, it provides an error saying the folder is in use by a program, but the folder is not. It is a weird bug that I have only experienced when using this software with Windows 7.

**What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DiskStation offers a nice, simple solution to network storage. We have benefited from the easy setup and integration and the native cloud backup feature helps backup our important files automatically to Google Drive.

**What do you like best about DiskStation?**

Flashy, pricey, driven. Diskstation is none of these.
The hardware design is slick, but it looks like any other server.
The price is always right where it needs to be.
Diskstation gives you options, you don't have to have the raid completely flash storage. In fact, any combination of SAS hard drive will do.
