In the process of downgrading my windows from 11 back to 10 I accidently deleted my folder containing my photos. I did not format or wipe the drive just deleted the folder with a bunch I no longer needed. Not realizing it until I emptied the recycle bin. I freaked out and started searching for recovery programs and at the top of the list was Disk Drill. They say you can download the free version and try it out. That is a bunch of crap. It recovered every icon and every graphic from every program that had been installed on my computer from the first day I turned it on. 86K in pictures alone. when I tried to narrow it to .jpg only, I still had over 36K which went over the 500Mb limit to use the "FREE" version. Thinking that it had recovered something of use to help me get my pictures back I paid the ridiculous fee of $89. I even continued the search to get more results as directed by the program. What did I recover for $89? Two of my pictures and over 100K (just .jpg) files of useless icons, and graphics used in everything windows to Corel draw. Nothing of the more the 16Gb of photos that had literally be deleted hours before. When I contacted Disk Drill they literally told me there are no refunds and they don’t care that their program did NOTHING. If they truly believed in it and stood behind it there would be some form of guarantee; not with this bunch of SCAMMERS. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. This does not work for iPhone recovery using a windows computer. From all the positive reviews I saw no warnings or statments of this. I assumed it would work from the review and videos and went strait to the paid version. I contacted customer service and they said they have a strict no refund policy. The software tells you how many things it can do to fix your drive. I used the trial and it will ask you to buy the Pro version to fix the problems. My hard drive was giving me problems. I downloaded Disk Drill as a demo. The demo allows me to scan my drive. The demo told me that in order to fix the drive I need to purchase the pro version. I made the payment. Then the software after being paid and doing the scan, tell me "we can not fix the drive". What? I wrote them explaining the situation for a refund. They do not want to refund me. I followed all the instructions prior to purchasing, but you have to purchase the product to actually recover more than 500mgs of data. I purchased the product, and ran a deep scan. First of all it's important to know that the application does not maintain your file structure- it lumps everything by file type, e.g., all the jpgs end up in the same folder regardless of where they came from. This would create a nightmare if you've organized files in some way- you'll have to reorganize everything- but they don't tell you this. The scan showed a lot of files were recoverable, so I said recover. It took awhile, and it created a folder on the drive I was boot from. When I went to open the files in the folder, they wouldn't open. I also tried to open many of the applications that had been recovered. Also no dice. It actually turns out it will not recover applications, but they don't tell you that either. I checked all the directions, and I had done everything that was instructed. I ran the recover again, but had the same result. At this point (each step takes many hours) I decided that I would like to try a different product. I emailed and asked for a refund. They said that was done on a case by case biases, and asked me to document a bunch of things about my system, disks, etc. I answered all the questions. They then wrote back and said they needed MORE proof, screen shots of files that would open in preview, but not open after recovery. They stated that just because some files didn't recover, that wasn't their problem- and that I should have checked EVERY file in preview prior to purchasing!!! In the end they said "We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied. Unfortunately, we are unable to proceed with a refund according to our Terms of Sale, which you've agreed to upon purchase. " And that was that! If their product doesn't work- to damn bad- they are keeping your money anyway! In the end I purchased Stellar and it worked perfectly and was able to recover my data! There is plenty of freeware that works just as well if all you want is a jumble of incorrectly sorted unusable files. Don’t pay for this. Doesn’t actually restore partitions as it claims to be able to do. False advertising and they won’t even consider a refund. They simply say review the terms of service. Buyer beware. The only way I was able to review the files is if I got the full version restored it to my SD card, and then put it in to my raspberry pi to read it. When it didn't work for me and I asked for a refund within an hour of purchasing it, they refused the refund. They said I should have been aware it wouldn't work before I purchased it because they warn you to make sure you see the file in the preview pane. I saw an image in the preview pane so thought I was good but I guess I was supposed to see something else. I explained that we were a small nonprofit that could ill afford to pay for something that didn't work for us but to no avail. It seems that once you pay them, there's no way they'll issue a refund.
