What problems is DisasterLAN solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have access to a number of different monitoring systems in our geographic area. DLAN has been invaluable for how we integrate these different monitoring data streams into one platform to help provide situational awareness. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

-Look/determine map locations

-The mobile nature of DLAN also allows the to connect Operations Centre immediately to a team of field officers across the province through any device with internet connectivity

"It's good!"

4/5

What do you like best about DisasterLAN?

DLAN allows our State EOC to process and track information quickly and easily. It's pretty straightforward if you're familiar with all the basic NIMS/ICS processes, but having everything in one place makes everything much easier. A huge improvement over whiteboards and paper stacks. There can be a bit of a learning curve if you're not familiar with NIMS concepts or computers in general, but nearly everyone I've trained over the past few years has commented on how much easier it is to use than it used to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DisasterLAN?

There can be a few strange UI quirks here and there, but ultimately it's only been getting better for as long as I've used it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DisasterLAN solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use DLAN to track incoming calls, process requests, and assign resources. It helps us build out situation reports and incident action plans that incorporate input from each of appropriate roles and support functions in the EOC. It has a pretty robust status board building capability that lets us pull together various bits of information from across the system and share it on video displays around the room. We can also build custom landing pages for each role, allowing them to focus what's important to them. Every action is saved in DLAN, which makes it easy to run after action reports after an incident is done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Integrated info flows for effective emergency/incident preparation & response"

3.5/5

What do you like best about DisasterLAN?

DLAN enables people from many teams, across a large geographic domain, to effectively communicate, coordinate, and collaborate when planning, preparing, or responding to incidents & emergencies of varying scopes, magnitudes and intensities.

The platform allows our team to receive, assess, share, and act on information flows that could otherwise be chaotic if managed without an integrated platform like DLAN.

DLAN has a rock-solid audit trail while enabling participants to interact in a role-centric fashion rather than an individual-centric fashion. This role-centric interaction alone increases organizational robustness and reduces communication delays & confusion.

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DisasterLAN?

The UI/UX is a definite weak point, though I expect it is common to other similar platforms as well. There is rich functionality in DLAN, but it is wrapped in an unintuitive UI with a resulting UX that requires extensive training and ongoing use to ensure a team's familiarity and effectiveness with the platform.

I have had to say countless times when training others that "Engineers developed this, not designers. The functionality is there, but names, locations, and clickflows are often unintuitive." Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DisasterLAN solving and how is that benefiting you?

Information is the lifeblood of an effective emergency response. You have to receive, assess, handle, and act on it well even when it comes at you like a swarm of bees.

Furthermore, the value and effectiveness of a network of individuals and teams relies on establishing & enabling active connections between them all.

DLAN makes us better on both counts when looking at the overall network we use to plan, prepare, and respond. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

DLAN tries to balance the simplicity and accessibility of a COTS system with the capacities of an organization - specific customized solution by providing three standardized editions which can be configured to meet the needs of our key infrastructure and government customers in a number of ways.
