**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalCcean gives me complete control of my VM. It also provides detailed documents for almost everything I want

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Overall everything. It has a great balance between what it offers, Internet speed is very good, the option to choose the type of processor, locations, firewall configuration, in short. It is a very complete section. Everything is very didactic, there is detailed information about the costs generated by each instance, I love it.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

What I don't like is the bandwidth limit that it offers. I understand that for the price, it's what they offer.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

So far, I haven't had any problem with the product I've purchased.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I really haven't found any thing I dislike about DigitalOcean.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sophia B. | Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Simple and quick to setup what I need for my business. And I never have to guess what my bill will be!

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I think DigitalOcean is missing only an AWS Lambda competitive product. I believe an excellent way to compete would allow Managed Kubernetes to set a cap on scalability. So during peak times, there are always servers ready. Also, that way, a customer will know the cost on a busy day.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Servers and Cloud-based services with high availability.

  ### 10. Easy, Powerful, Reliable.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derrick B. | Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Up-front and transparent pricing, beautiful and intuitive UI (Opposite of AWS console), APIs that make sense, easy to scale, lots of offerings.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Not much. While their object and data storage options are competitive, it would be nice if it were a bit cheaper.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to spin up customer servers and environments and hand them off. I can do it very quickly via the UI, or if I want to get fancy, I can use the API.

  ### 11. Digitalocean is affordable, has comprehensive documentation and is a delight to use!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The platform is very user-friendly and contains a lot of helpful documentation and options for different hosting needs. Furthermore, the price is great. The ultimate selling point was all the blogs with detailed tutorials about hosting Nodejs applications, etc.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The only critique I have is that there are no servers in Sweden that you can host droplets on. It would be great if servers in more locations were added so there is more flexibility.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean helps me easily host any application to the cloud; most importantly, it is a very affordable solution! Furthermore, the options provided make it even easier to fit any requirements regarding hosting that a client I work for may have.

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

It provides detailed information about server, memory, CPU etc

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

There can be better communication when updates are made otherwise it leads to server down

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes server load balancing very easy and handy

  ### 13. The best Cloud Hosting provider in the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bishal D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I have used Digital Ocean for more than a year for hosting my Website and undoubtedly this is the best Cloud Hosting provider in the market with competitive pricing from $4 a month. They also provide a free trial with $200 credits that lasts for 60 days

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

One thing I dislike about DigitalOcean is that their droplet backup service is pretty bad the droplet gets backed up only once a week, also the migration from digital ocean to other hosting provider is not easy at all

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DigitalOcean for hosting my website. DigitalOcean provides droplets which are equivalent to EC2 in amazon, but it is definitely more reliable than AWS. My website never went down with Digital Ocean

  ### 14. Goodbye AWS!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Amazing service. I host all my digital products here for a fraction of the price of AWS plus they have great customer service.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

There are absolutely no cons that I can think of.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed an alternative to AWS. It was getting ridiculously expensive and I couldn't even tell which buckets were taking up space and I received no support. Digital Ocean saved the day.

  ### 15. Best for running a startup SaaS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Orkhan H. | Head of Growth, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

It's really easy to use and designed for startups as of price modeling and UX. We've used it for several services and websites. So far the security and quality of the machines are in really good service.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I'dsa it may be somehow limited for open source or sahred type services to host on.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped us to host our open-source projects and some websites of our projects.

  ### 16. Easy as cloud should be

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristijan M. | Digital Program Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I have been using it for years.
The interface is so easy to navigate, find and use services. Clear pricing strategy. Both affordable and reliable service.
The site is thoroughly informative and provides solutions for many issues.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I can't remember anything which, from my point of view requires attention.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides reliable service and excellent support when needed. Options to build infrastructure with a few clicks.

  ### 17. Easiest and fastest VMs setup!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo M. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The ease of use of the control panel to create resources as VMs; and, with the marketplace, to build an OS-preloaded machine or managed databases right out of the box, it's an excellent time-saving tool.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The prices, even though they are not the most expensive ones in the market, could be lower; also, I would like you to create a tool to customize our exact needs of resources of a VM, for instance, customizable memory and processor independently.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ease of use, real-time and precise monitoring, statistics, the new alerts of downtime (two thumbs up for that). In general, DO covers 80% of the cloud computing needs of my company for internal services and customers as well.

  ### 18. Excellent

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elmo C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

D.O has good price and good availability of services.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I have everything I need there. Nothing to dislike

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast to start a VM and deploy my app

  ### 19. It is easy to start and friendly for cloud beginners. The legend of IaaS.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Çalgan Muharrem A. | Backend/Cloud Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

It is a cloud hosting platform easy-to-use. It has very affordable and simpler pricing plans. The servers are reliable, and the company has great customer support.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean doesn't offer as many features and tools as some of its competitors when we think about other main cloud providers. It can be not enough when you are trying to build a modern infrastructure.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us when you just need a virtual machine. Has awesome provisioning and managing abilities on virtual servers, private networks, and storage. It is easy to build new applications running on DigitalOcean. When a user needs a simple environment to run application, it is one of the best choices.

**Official Response from Faiza Zia:**

  ### 20. Reliable, affordable, completely configurable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The best Linux cloud servers. Period. They are inexpensive, zero down-time, with all of the configuability of having your own Linux machine.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I am mildly concerned about some of the activities of others using DigitalOcean services. A more proactive abuse prevention program would help.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

24-hour SaaS app on LAMP. They take care of the power and internet. I just manage the machine.

  ### 21. An effortless cloud service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I find that DigitalOcean makes setting up cloud services an effortless task: their simple cloud administration panel lets you easily provision a server called a 'droplet' in many locations worldwide, not to mention the billing/pricing of each server that you provision can be easily monitored thanks to their wide range of billing monitoring tools.

In addition, DigitalOcean makes their cloud developer-friendly: the app platform, a service operated by DigitalOcean that allows developers to deploy applications without any complicated system administration effortlessly, allows developers to get their app up and running in the cloud.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

While the cloud administration panel gives you all the tools to make your cloud experience great, I find the built-in console can be a bit troublesome to use sometimes.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean's intuitive cloud administration panel has allowed me to focus on building and deploying my applications to the cloud without worrying about complicated and time-consuming system administration tasks that the cloud often entails.

  ### 22. One of the best IT solutions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beybut A. | CEO && Backend-developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Easy scaling your IT infrastructure. Good price and user-friendly dashboard.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Actually, i didn't find any cons of DigitalOcean

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have created crypto-analytics platform with DigitalOcean.

  ### 23. A great choice for self-hosted website services

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Using DigitalOcean is extremely convenient, particularly when helping clients self-hose their new websites. Signing up to DigitalOcean is a straightforward experience, and getting started is a breeze.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

To be honest, not a lot. Initially it can be a bit of a minefield when deciding on what droplet to use, but everything is documented well and enables even the most technically limited people get up and running.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We build and deploy websites and services to our clients, but we do not have the infrastructure to host everything. DigitalOcean makes this so much simpler as our clients can host and control their own webserver, allowing us to deploy their new website to somewhere accessible, secure and convenient.

  ### 24. Very easy to use with more advanced capabilities if needed

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

When a friend needs a simple website (e.g. Wordpress), I always recommend DigitalOcean. The price is amazing. However, what's great is that if they need more than that, DigitalOcean has a lot to offer. Personally, I've used it for years and it has been great.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Overall, not much to dislike, although obviously cheaper prices are always welcome.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personal websites and projects

Domain name and Windows Servers are not available. Moreover database price is little higher side.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are depending for hosting website and application software with database. We are benefitted with cost ,pricing and time.

  ### 26. Reliable, Easy and budget option

DigitalOcean has been reliable and easy to setup from a variety of configurations to pick up. It provides a perfect setup to bring ideas to production faster at reasonable price.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Nothing significant to mention till date.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has so far proved to be the fastest means to go live with dev to prod and the flexibility of configurations on droplets has been a major help.

  ### 27. A cost-effective cloud hosting solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dr Andy T. | Founder, Owner, and Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Although DigitalOcean offers various cloud computing services, we only use its Premium AMD Droplets to host development and production websites.

When used with a cloud server management control panel, such as RunCloud or GridPane, it is straightforward to provision a new server on DigitalOcean. Through RunCloud's graphical user interface, we typically provision a DigitalOcean server via RunCloud's "Direct Server Provisioning" method, which takes less than 10 minutes. This method requires us to generate a personal access token in the DigitalOcean control panel, after which all server management tasks, e.g., provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, and security, can be handled through RunCloud. Further, our RunCloud Pro plan makes it easy for us to deploy websites, create and restore backups, and clone websites to another server.

Our websites hosted on the Premium AMD Droplets (NYC3 and SGP1 data centers) have shown excellent page load time and uptime performance. In our testing, page load time and Core Web Vitals of our sites hosted on these DO Droplets (with an OLS server on RunCloud) are consistently better than other options, including Cloudways and shared hosting. Since we started using DigitalOcean Droplets about six months ago, none of our websites have suffered any downtime.

Even after increasing the prices of its Droplets on July 1, 2022, we believe DigitalOcean offers good value and remains our preferred cloud hosting provider. We have found DO's pricing transparent and predictable, as advertised.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean per se does not provide an OpenLiteSpeed-based web hosting control panel. It is possible to install CyberPanel (which is free and comes with OpenLiteSpeed) on DigitalOcean, but we prefer RunCloud's graphical interface to CyberPanel's. Furthermore, while testing CyberPanel, we found a recurring issue with installing SSL certificates.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean helps us to overcome the problem of cost-effectiveness. Even with the added cost of a RunCloud Pro plan, the price of two DO's Premium AMD Droplets is still lower than what we paid for hosting our 8-10 websites on other platforms (e.g., WordPress hosting). In this way, we have realized cost savings without sacrificing website performance.

  ### 28. Cost-effective Cloud service, generally reliable and excellent customer service.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean S. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean has a wide variety of cloud services that aree growing in comparison with larger competitors and is more cost effective than some of its similar competitors for basic services. In addition, the company offers a wide variety of payment methods including methods using Google Pay and Apple Pay. Digital Ocean also has a wide variety of documentation and tutorials that are outmatched by any other website or service. The service is often reliable with downtime rare, even in the presence of other issues. Furthermore, their customer service is responsive and very friendly.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean, however, has growing pains that are associated with larger expansion such as limited global data centers with some restrictions on availability. Furthermore, Digital Ocean lacks a lot of certifications on most data centers and the existing compliance often varies by data center.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Digital Ocean is solving the problem of easily accessible services that cater to developers of all sizes. Most cloud services restrict what developers can do with their platforms such as resource limitations, cost restrictions, or access restrictions. Digital Ocean allows unrestricted access to droplets and some other services through the use of container technologies, so developers can experience a near-native server experience. This benefits me as I can my services as my needs warrant.

  ### 29. DigitalOcean has been my go-to for learning and testing ideas for years now.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean is excellent for flexible affordability. I have taught myself server management, optimization, deployment workflows, and scripted maintenance because it is easy to get new servers running to trial new concepts. It has been irreplaceable in this way. The skillset I've been able to develop thanks to their resources has helped my career.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

If you mess up, you are on your own, as advertised. However, it is the most significant downside. The support team can usually point me in the right direction, which has helped me through a few tight spots.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As someone who collects domains like trading cards and has a new idea every month, DigitalOcean enables me to build and test out these new concepts quickly and affordably. Droplets are my playground, and I have been moving slowly to Apps for ideas that need more stable servers.

  ### 30. My experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I like how easy is deploy and manage your applications. DigitalOcean offers you the a high level of security availability, so your work gets easy every day

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean doesn't cover a lot of place so your application can run slow depending on where you're planning to have impact, for example Latin America

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I feel it's more in aspects like architecture, it solves a lot of problems, the deploy it's easy, the management of apps it's easy too.

So digital Ocean offer you a great price for what you have to do if you Tun in bare metal, you don't need a physical place, a security guard, you don't have to pay for electricity and a lot of things if you run your app in bare metal. And that without talking about installing and operation system and backups....

  ### 31. Excellent service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher J. C. | Principal Architect, Engineering , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Predictable pricing and simplified approach to configuration.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The tradeoff for simple configuration is that sometimes you cannot do everything you'd like to and are forced to simplify your design to accommodate the available product offerings. In general, this leads to a better system design that is less coupled to your cloud provider, but at the time, it can be a bit of a barrier if you are used to more powerful cloud providers like AWS/Azure.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed container hosting, storage space for secure file uploads and database hosting. All the basics to host a modern SaaS application.

  ### 35. DigitalOcean is intuitive and very easy to operate on the platform, the best.

The way to make payments is undoubtedly perfect, practical, and straightforward. I have no problems making payments; I always receive emails in advance in case there is a problem with the card. My service doesn't stop, and I receive an alert beforehand.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No problem.

  ### 36. The greatest web server service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simone M. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Came here from AWS and i'll never go back unless the service i need is not available inside digitalocean. They have few services to offer compared to other cloud providers, as late 2022 they lack of AI accelerators ang GPU units but if you need a standard solution with a lot of bandwidth ,CPU and fast storage, stop here!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James I. | Back End Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

I like DigitalOcean because it gives me the foundational building blocks (droplets, storage) I need to run web applications, scaling up and down as my app requires.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The range and flexibility of the cloud offerings isn't quite as flexible as the main competitors, so you're not always able to put together the infrastructure you need. (This has improved over the years as Digital Ocean have brought out new products to fill in some of the gaps.)

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Infrastructure for cloud products from development/proof of concept to production.

  ### 48. Simple Cloud Infrastructure Provider for Small Businesses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suman B. | Co-Founder & Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DIgitalOcean is easy to understand. For a person coming from normal shared web hosting architecture like Godaddy or BigRock, cloud hosting may seem overwhelming to understand. DigitalOcean with its friendly user interface makes it very easy to understand and navigate all its offerings. It has all the basic features that a cloud hosting provider should have like compute engines, object storage, Databases and load balancers etc. It has a very good explanations of its services so that a user with no cloud computing knowledge can even understand.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

We used DigitalOcean earlier and then shifted to AWS because:
1) DigitalOcean didn't and still doesn't support Windows compute engines or droplets. We had to create a manual image and host it but it was discontinued later.
2) One of our servers was hacked twice. Someone hacked and used it to send suspicious emails. We had to change the server and move it to a different IP address. It was hacked again. So security was an issue.
3) Earlier there was no serverless service offered by DigitalOcean. (Now they have introduced it) So we have to migrate to AWS Lambda.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It offered all the basic cloud services like compute engines (droplets) categorized into general purposes, CPU intensive, and memory intensive. Object storage and Databases. DigitalOcean is very user-friendly so didn't have any problems using them. Its clutter-free UI is very easy to understand unlike that of AWS or Azure.

  ### 49. Easy to use and great price solution for virtual servers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yevgen S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2023

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

1) Easy to use.
2) Pricing.
3) Possibility to use API to create/destroy droplets.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Only minor thing - recent taxes for Ukrainian customers.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Virtual server, where I can setup my own DB, Apache, etc...

  ### 50. Excellent support and very good cloud based services.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh A. | Chief Executive Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The ability to deploy multiple servers at once using any of our preferred flavors of operating systems. Also the ability to be able to backup and save snapshots that we want to save but are not currently using.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

It would be beneficial to have ability to have more than a few of our employees the ability to log in to the account at the same time. This will help when you have numerous employees in your tech department.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scalability is a big issue for us. There may be times when we only have a few active clients, but then other times we might have to deploy hundreds of snapshots in a single day. It's good to say DigitalOcean working on its scalability.
