## DigitalOcean Reviews
  ### 1. Simple, user friendly and highly reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David Y. | Senior Cyber Security Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

* The web interface is very intuitive and pleasant to look at.
* Maintenance is generally performed without service disruption -- I've had a droplets run for years without needing a restart.
* Pricing is reasonable and affordable.
* DO has expanded their service offering from just Droplets and continues to grow.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

* Not as fully featured as AWS, Azure or GCP
* Cheapest droplet has been $5 for a decade despite increases in computing power. A cheaper, less powerful minimum would be nice.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a nice way to spin up virtual machines for hosting web applications and other services, on either a temporary or permanent basis. It's my service provider of choice for simple tasks.

  ### 2. Cloud infrastructure provider for web applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashok D. | Ruby on Rails Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

it gives a stand-alone server with whatever your need of configuration, the best thing about this is that it's fixed price so you don't need to worry about billing, it won't exceed the cost and it will always be of fixed cost.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

its lowest-cost server are not very good for the docker deployed application, it just won't work properly, even for the staging environment you have to purchase a bit of cost server, unlike Heroku which gives free of cost server for staging and testing applications.

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

- if you are looking for fixed cost servers this is the best suited for you
- stand-alone dedicated server
- 1 click scale up & down possible with known cost

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

make my application available throughout the globe. as I get stand-alone dedicated servers i won't need to worry about the performance, also I can scale my server with just one click with the known fixed cost.

  ### 3. Easy to use cloud provider with predictable pricing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** César G. | Senior Software Development Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Their administration dashboard is far more user-friendly than other cloud providers, making it easier to administer to users with less technical expertise. Compared to Amazon and Azure, their pricing is very predictable since they don't bill by stuff that is hard to control, like IOPS or API usage.

Another plus is that DO offers managed Kubernetes and databases, thus making it possible to deploy a platform without direct access to the instances.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Their object storage tokens are account-wide, and any service with a token can access any bucket without a way to restrict it, making it a security nightmare in case a service is compromised. Another thing is that their container registry pricing tiers are too expensive, compared to just deploying a small droplet with a Docker registry and storing the images in their object storage.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use DigitalOcean as an off-site backup and disaster recovery if our primary cloud provider (Linode) goes down. Their managed databases make it simple to keep a replica of our database in case something goes wrong.

  ### 4. Stable and Affoardable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Simple pricing model, simple UI, powerful tools!

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Lack of support for adding Spaces with domains managed by external DNSes (with Let's Encrypt automatic integration)

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DO makes it pain-free to quickly and reliably deploy Droplets and other products without having to walk through multiple hoops and configurations in complicated interfaces.

  ### 5. I was great experience with digital Ocean. Price is competitive for small businesses.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pitabas P. | Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

You get 100usd credit to play with and explore the platform it provides

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Nothing as such. If they can provide something like cli will be helpful

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

You can try digital ocean services at best price in market and the support is best in the market.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am looking for affordable servers for my small clients and it perfectly matches my client budget.

  ### 6. A fantastic hosting service, Is easy to setup, and its support is great too!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan A. | Gerente, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2019

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The interface is very simple and intuitive, it has many tools to facilitate the creation of a good structure for the applications that we have developed. It has a large amount of documentation to facilitate the configuration of servers as well as a large community that helps solve more specific problems, technical support based on my experience has been excellent. In all the time we have used DigitalOcean we have never had a server down

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I have not found anything that disgusts me, perhaps what I like the least is the cost of disk storage

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

Digital ocean is focused for a technical and development environment since the server must be configured based on the requirements that are needed, the server is literally blank when one acquires it, the server is only with the selected operating system installed

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Through the tools that DigitalOcean has, we have implemented web sites, web platforms, web servers connected with applications for smartphones, bulk mailing applications

  ### 7. Cost effective cloud hosting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shyju K. | Technical Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

It is easy to use and simple. You don't need a calculator to buy it. Just create login and use.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Free image storage. Other solutions allow us to store 2-3 volume images freely.

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

Just start with 5$ per month with your favorite cloud application. I'm sure you will stick with it.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves most of the SMB cloud hosting problems. As it is cost effective and stable, especially for SMBs. They can begin with DO droplets as low 5$/month. This will be enough to host a small CRM solution for 10 users.

  ### 8. Great products on great prices!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

What I like most about Digital Ocean is the simplicity of the products as well as the prices.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Not many regions supported as other cloud providers.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying applications using Kubernetes but also using VMs for general workloads, CI/CD and running web apps.

  ### 9. Very user-friendly cloud provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean's User Experience is outstanding.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean doesn't offer as many services as some competitors, but they are adding a lot of them at a fast pace.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean provides the best experience for developers, something which is not the case for many of the conventional cloud providers.

  ### 10. Fast deployment of your web app for a reasonable price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriel G. | Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

You can start with minimum requirements and increase your environment settings as the app becomes more popular. Then, you simply increase the allocated resources.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Setting up SSH and remote access to your server might be difficult for beginners. It used to be even more complicated in the past.

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

Easily set up a server in minutes, but for more advanced configurations a specialist might be require.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I deploy web applications either for testing purposes only (which I then move to a production environment, sometimes one owned by the client), or for final point deployment.

  ### 11. Simplest choice ever made.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James L. | Founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean has a control panel that respects the fact that you only need to go in there infrequently, and it's laid out very nicely. It's not a chore to go in! But also just the speed and reliability.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean is adding new products that self-conflict with their core services. I consider this to be bloat, and the efforts should be spent on solely enhancing their core services.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DigitalOcean provides reliable and fast services which destroy AWS no matter how you slice it. The control panel is better, the speeds are higher, the cost is lower, and I use exclusively DigitalOcean.

  ### 12. Digitalocean - widely used for cloud based hosting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eran K. | Co Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digitalocean has an intuitive dashboard so it makes it easy to use. I appreciate its high uptime, reliability, scalability, and security. It offers many cloud servers with different hardware and software types, which makes Digitalocean one of the best out of cloud service providers. It has great customer support, which is responsive beyond my expectations. Its pricing is also very competitive compared to other service providers which makes it a go-to choice for startups like us.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

its service offering can be widened to cover what is offered by its alternatives such as Amazon or Azure...

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy deployment, quick support and competitive pricing.

  ### 13. It's an excellent service, affordable and easy to work with.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The really simple user interface, and the relation price/service.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The recent price adjustment. I know it's an update needed due to inflation, but it does't make me happy.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its the best Cloud/VPS i found after trying other services.

  ### 14. The best shared cloud hosting service on the market!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edições G. | Book Publisher, Independent, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean is very easy to install applications and one of the best cloud services, in terms of quality and speed, on the market.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I have nothing to complain about. The platform manages to meet me completely in all aspects.

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

Just use it, don't waste time!

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create websites in Wordpress via Cyberpanel (which I install very easily when creating the Droplet). After installing Cyberpanel, I configure DNS records to install the websites I manage in wordpress.
On these websites I also create e-commerce platforms via Woocommerce.

  ### 15. Digital Ocean for Business

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ram S. | Head of Information Technology, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean offers simple and easy to manage droplets(Servers). The dashboard is user-friendly. It is helpful for developers, though, and we can use it in production environments as well. Digital Ocean offers free DNS management up to 50 DNS zones. I will suggest Digital Ocean for DNS management since it is free and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean doesn't offer services link AWS offers. It has limited benefits compared to other cloud competitors like AWS, Azure, and GCP. It is helpful for the developers. We can not process terabytes of data in the Digital Ocean as we do in AWS.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We started Digital Ocean to have small instances, and we realized that DNS management is free. We are now using Digital Ocean mainly for DNS management and to run small workloads.

  ### 16. I've leased a Linux LAMP server for a few years, have slowly upgraded the hardware as needs changed.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

No downtime, the website is easy to navigate and make changes to the droplet.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I have not had any issues with Digital Ocean. Compared to AWS, DO servers are much cheaper. I do wish that over time the DO prices would drop as the AWS server prices do.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building a financial web app, making a NiFI cluster, exploring some network security for a class.

  ### 17. A Cheap and Reliable Cloud Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos P. | Desarrollador web, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

DigitalOcean makes it easy to go to the cloud. They offer a fast, reliable VPS with an intuitive interface and competitive pricing.

You can get started for as little as $5 per month, which is less than the cost of most other cloud providers. And you'll have access to resources like SSD storage, 2TB of bandwidth, and more.

Their droplet offerings are also worth mentioning. You can host single-page apps on their shared hosting or deploy containers on their virtual private servers (VPS). Plus, they're constantly updating their infrastructure to accommodate businesses' needs.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

We do run into occasional bugs, and sometimes you'll get an email about a region-wide temporary hold on server creation. This doesn't last more than a few minutes or affect any servers that are already running. If your mission is critical enough, we can help move it to another region in case this happens again later if needed.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are cheaper than other providers, and their customer service is top-notch. They offer virtual private servers (VPS) which are not only cost-effective, but also reliable.

  ### 18. Great experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2022

Very easy to use and very affordable for the team

Being able to easily work with others and share the organisation

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very easy to use and uts affordable

  ### 19. Awesome Cost/Benefit

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabio M. | Principal Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The big thing about DigitalOcean is that I'm a client for more than 3 years and never got disconnected.
All my servers stood up all the moment!
And with a average cost it delivers a great box configuration

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Not a big fan of the settings page, could be simpler

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have some clients that need access to their apps online and I'm using as a app deployer container

  ### 20. Digital Ocean, when you need to build a virtual server in a minute or less.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason D. | Vice President of Information Technology, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The Digital Ocean design is familiar to anyone who has ever built a computer or server. You get to choose the number of CPU cores, the amount of RAM and SSD storage. From there, anyone who has setup an Ubuntu server will know what to do. Even if you don't, Digital Ocean has some of the best tutorials available on the web. They are simple and convey the instructions without relying on the reader to have Linux exerience. Their pricing models are extremely flexible and designed to suite very short-term needs.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I'm not sure if there is anything to dislike about Digital Ocean. Their support is fantastic. Their tutorials are simple, and they have a lot of them. The only thing they might be able to do better is to provide snapshots for different use cases that are ready to load, but that really falls under the user's purview.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to set up an Ubuntu 16.04 server, which was the LTS version available at the time, and set up a PostgreSQL service and an email server in short order. I was able to set up a simple firewall and secure access with Fail2Ban. While we eventually shut down the project, it was because we decided to outsource the hosting and management of the database rather than run it in-house. Digital Ocean served us well.

  ### 21. DigitalOcean, quality integrated services

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** HERNANDO JOSE P. | Tutor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The variety of services offered by DigitalOcean have a high quality and availability that allow it to be integrated into our projects easily and quickly from processing machines and services at a fair price.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

improve service and security monitoring mechanisms, as well as integrate api for querying external systems

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

If you are looking for a platform to deploy your test projects as production, you should consider digitalocean, it presents a good variety of services at a good price and quality of technical support

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

none so far

  ### 22. Software Developer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Loly G. | Library IT Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

easy to estimate costs and make projections

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

could be more useful with more complete serverless functions

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

vps easy to manage and with necessary utilities

  ### 23. Cheap, but low quality service. Do not trust their backups, I lost everything.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris H. | COO

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The servers were spun up quickly and accessible reasonably fast.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The customer support is non-existent, takes days to respond and has been offshored to India. When you pay for backups, they are not retained if your server is deleted. My server was deleted and I had paid for backups, so I expected to be able to retain this data, but it was not available. Most frustrating was that digitalocean asked me to pay for projected upcoming expenses for the month for backups that they had already deleted and did not communicate to me, and now they're refusing to either refund the projected expenses or provide the backups that I paid for. Why am I being charged for projected expenses when both my server and backups have already been deleted? Do better DigitalOcean.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They were a cheap hosting provider. You get what you pay for though. Cheap cost = cheap quality.

**Official Response from Faiza Zia:**

> Hi Chris,

I'm so sorry that you had this experience with us. We always do strive to provide best customer service as we do realize how important it is and have taken steps to improve that.

Could you please provide us the ticket number you created so that we can look into this in more detail and try to resolve this for you?

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thanks!
DigitalOcean

  ### 24. Best Cloud Experience

**Reviewed by:** Andres B. | I, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The price to benefits ratio is the best in the market. All the functionality I need at a reasonable price. It's simple to set things up without unnecessary clutter.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I would appreciate larger Spaces and additional sizes available, not just the 250G.

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

Consider ease of deployment and maintenance in your overall budget. More expensive alternatives require far more work to maintain infrastructure.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting and deploying different web apps and APIs for various clients, all with varying needs.

  ### 25. Best Cloud Platform to Host Websites and Applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean is the best cloud platform for me, It provides cheap droplets starting from $5/month with 25 GB storage and 1GB RAM, which is enough to host any website or application. I run WordPress websites on the Digital ocean droplet. It is a fast and secure cloud hosting platform.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

I use WordPress Ubuntu droplet with Apache and Phpmyadmin installed on it. Sometimes my Phpmyadmin got crashed during heavy traffic on websites. This problem occurs after the memory limit got exceeded.

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

It is one of the easiest ways to to make a VPS, You can choose between a variety of operation systems like Ubuntu. There are alot of droplets choices you can choose between with different prices. The best thing about it is the free trial period that they give you when you register, that allows you to try everything they offer for free.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

What I dislike the most is that it has bad reputation, so when you consider this to be your email marketing server, you should know that it will be blacklisted most of the time. And they dont make any effort to prevent spammers from using there services

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am an email marketer, and I use DigitalOcean droplets to create vps to host my smtp server, this allows me to send emails to my list.

- Less community
- Less Plugin Play services as compared to AWS and Google.

  ### 33. A cost-effective cloud hosting provider

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sabarish P. | Chief Technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Digital Ocean is a no-frills cloud hosting provider for your basic needs. It is cheap and simple. It does not boast of a state of the art infrastructure like AWS or Azure but it beats them on cost alone. For a development team, DO is a very good choice if you're ready to get your hands dirty and set up instances, environment and work from scratch. The up-time and performance are second to none. DO also has servers across the globe cutting down on ping time. Also, their documentation on setting up modules is vast and pretty well written. Even when you're not setting up a DO server, you can rely on their how-to documentation to setup your systems. Thanks to those well-written technical articles.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

They have kept the infrastructure simple and so, for integrating or availing any service outside their simple infrastructure, you're left on your own trying to fit the pieces together.
Also, DO does not cut down on spam application hosting in their servers. Therefore, many of their shared IP addresses are blacklisted by major mail service providers. This causes e-mails from genuine users to go to spam. DO has to do a better job in blocking spam mailers who use their IP to spam.

**Recommendations to others considering DigitalOcean:**

A very apt platform for your quick cheap hosting needs.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can get an on-demand server for $5 or $10 and have the development server ready in 5-10 minutes. This is cheap, time-saving and very effective when I do not require the vast infrastructure and series of services provided like AWS.

  ### 34. Incredibly powereful, yet easy to navigate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff H. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

The simplicity of being able to control my entire client ecosphere from a web-browser is huge.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Honestly, for the price, I really have zero complaints.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We build web and mobile applications, and having the ability to spin up a multi-tiered application environment very quickly during prototyping is a big advantage over self-hosted, clunky solutions

  ### 35. Awesome Bit of Web Space

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aeryn L. | Blogger / Copy Writer / Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

There are several reasons to love using Digital Ocean droplets. First and foremost would be the community. I haven't had a technical issue that wasn't unsolvable within the community's extensive and constructive forum. Perusing the forum usually leaves me inspired to do more with my server, making it highly functional and secure for my WordPress projects. Pricing is based on use, and I am able to keep track of how much is being spent on a daily basis. As far as web servers go for WordPress use, this option is highly cost effective. I love that I don't have to rely on others to manage my servers, and ensure that the proper packages are in place and up to date for WordPress functions/actions. I absolutely love being able to use nginx for my sites, which was not something that was easily obtainable with managed/shared hosting services. In retrospect, there are one-click pre-packaged servers available for hundreds of projects, including WordPress, so there are options for those who don't want to be fully involved in their server set up.

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

There are some drawbacks to using Digital Ocean droplets; it is all based on the user's comfort level with working on a "blank slate" server. It is up to the user to maintain the server and any packages they've chosen to install. I do not have the time to manage it as an email service, so I've had to reach out to a third party that is dedicated to email security to be able to use my domains for correspondence. It is possible to include email functionality in a droplet, but that requires constant management to combat spam/security threats daily. If you choose to use Digital Ocean, do a check on the IP that is randomly assigned to you during the installation process to ensure virus/malware scanners haven't blocklist it. Since droplets are so easy to come by, they're attractive to bad actors for nefarious purposes. You may need to recreate a droplet a few times to get a clean IP address for your websites.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've tried all kinds of solutions for optimal WordPress hosting (shared, dedicated, VPS, managed, etc.) and hadn't found a solution that met my standards until Digital Ocean droplets. So, I went with a server where I choose what is/isn't installed and how functional it is for a WordPress site. While I would prefer daily WordPress backups, Digital Oceans provides weekly server backups. This means I can roll back to a secured state if the need ever presents itself (I have been with Digital Ocean for four years now and have not needed to use this capability yet.)

  ### 36. Best services in their class, although a bit pricy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2022

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

Their dashboard is amazing, although some features like droplet snapshots should be explained a little bit better. The billing section is also very useful to keep track of expenses

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

The pricing is a little bit higher than their competitors, but I guess it's kind of a given when you have DO's reputation. Nothing much to be reported other than that

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DO has great support and their networking is among the most reliable I've used, not to mention it is very fast and has high availability. Bandwidth is also amazing

  ### 37. Great cloud provider

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suheb R. | Android Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about DigitalOcean?**

*Snapshots
*Easy backups
*Full access to the self hosting droplets
*Options for low cost droplets
*Various SSD options, Regions
*Security
*Easy to manage

**What do you dislike about DigitalOcean?**

Very bad customer support. If there is DDos attack, they took a long time to get the droplet in normal stage. They should have a live customer support like other hosting provider.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to easily manage the website with backup facility. I have self hosted gitlab on my droplets which helps me a lot for creating own repositories without any extra cost.

**Official Response from Faiza Zia:**

> Hi Suheb,

I'm so sorry that you had this experience with us. We always do strive to provide best customer service as we do realize how important it is and have taken steps to improve that.

Could you please provide us the ticket number you created so that we can look into this in more detail for you?

It would be great if you could import/export Snapshots from Droplets, and possibly a more affordable App Platform.

**What problems is DigitalOcean solving and how is that benefiting you?**
