Really glad the automation is making record keeping easier and that you are already seeing time savings so early on. Since you are getting value from WhatsApp submission, it is worth exploring Commerce Lite too. It connects directly to e-commerce stores and online marketplaces like Amazon and eBay and captures sales automatically, so you have more time to focus on sales, not admin. Exciting to hear you are just getting started with Dext.

MTD for ITSA is a solid use case for this and good to hear it is speeding up the processing side. The duplicate issue you are describing, where a different reference lets one slip through, can be reduced by switching to Review mode, using Data Health or setting supplier rules for suppliers where reference formats are inconsistent. It is worth flagging to your account manager directly as they can look at how your supplier rules are configured to catch more of those variations. In the meantime, Supplier Statement Extraction is worth exploring if you are not already using it, as it reads supplier statements line by line and matches each row against existing bills in Dext, which adds a useful safety net for catching anything that has come through twice.

Thanks for the review. It is great to hear Dext is saving you time on document capture. On line item extraction cost: we appreciate the feedback and understand it can add up. Many teams enable line items only for the suppliers or document types where the extra detail really adds value, and use standard extraction for everything else to keep usage in check. If you have not already, try Rules and automation with default coding per supplier to speed up processing without relying on line items for every invoice.

To take your accuracy to the next level, it is worth exploring Data Health scores, as they automatically flag anomalies like duplicate entries or incorrect tax coding. Since you are already focused on continuity, you might also find AI Assist helpful, as it learns from your patterns to automate repetitive bookkeeping tasks while you stay in control of the final output. On data extraction, you are right that image quality can affect accuracy. One feature worth trying is Fetch, which pulls invoices directly from supplier portals so the document quality is always clean at the source. Supplier Rules can also help by automatically filling in fields for recurring suppliers, reducing reliance on extraction alone.

What do you like best about Dext?

I been using this for 2 yrs. Up until I got an accountant to tell me much of my expenses have been double counted because dext does not recognise invoice numbers. Now I am stuck having to resubmit 2 years of tax expenses and recast my personal income (self-employed) I hate dext. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

when you want to filter say 2023 expenses then export. you cannot just hit select all- you have to scroll scroll scroll down to the bottom then select all or else it will only take the first 50 displayed. Also finding reciepts are difficult especially if you made those with a expense report. So if you find a duplicate you have to delete it out of the expense report too. There are just so many little gotchas with this. And its not cheap. I bought it to save me work, it ended up being more work that a pile of physical reciepts and ziplocs. What do you like best about Dext?

At first, I thought Dext would be helpful. I liked the thought of how it could help me with keeping my receipts and inputting the correct information. However, this is not the case. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

SCAMMY PRACTICES!!! They charged me $715.00 without my permission.

When I saw this alarming cost jump in my account, I asked them why they were charging me this amount as this was definitely not my usual annual plan fee. They told me that since they no longer offered the plan I subscribed to, they decided to transfer me onto a different plan that was "suitable" for my needs. Of course the plan they decided was "suitable" for me was $500 more expensive than my last one (and nowhere near suitable for my one person small business - just the most they could charge me).

The problem is I never gave them permission to change me into a different plan nor for this significant price change. They tried to defend themselves saying that they had emailed me to inform me but I personally never saw this email. Plus this email could easily be missed for anyone. Unfortunately, they prey over this and take advantage of having people's credit card information through what they claim to be "autorenewal" (when it is really them changing your plan on your behalf and charging you hundreds of dollars more than you agreed to in your old plan).

This is a horrendous business practice and I would warn anyone from considering Dext. Regarding the app functionality, I spent too much money here in the past for years of me having to hire book keepers and accountants just to in the end manually fix up Dext's mistakes. My most recent book keeper said she ends up having to fix Dext's mistakes for her clients that use Dext and is confused at why her clients are spending this much money on this app when she has to fix these errors, gst misreadings, miscategorization, etc, innacurrate readings, etc.

Before I hired her, I spent more time trying to work out the kinks in Dext's program than what was worth the cost by far. Additionally, support is really bad and they do not have a phone number for you to call and can sometimes take a long time to reply. Fortunately, I was never charged due to my bank blocking my card because they believed this payment was “suspicious activity”. Unfortunately this service isn't even worth the initial money let alone the money they try to charge you without your permission. Please look elsewhere. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best part was when I converted bank statements to CSV format within no time which I used to upload in my accounting softwares Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
