"Easy Invoice Extraction and Seamless Xero Integration That Saves Time"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

It makes purchase and sale invoice extraction very easy. It cuts down the time needed to upload records and you dont have to lose any details. The interface is very easy to navigate and everything is layed out in a way that makes sense. Mainly use it as an intergration to xero but have used it for QBO and Sage and it works well! The AI assist is a great feature and i have helped a client set it up and its cut their bookeeping time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

There isn't realy anything i dislike really. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Feature-Rich, Seamless Integrations, and Best-in-Class Scanning"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

Dext is a feature-rich product compared with other products of its kind. The user interface is easy to navigate, and the bulk feature is very handy. The integration with banks and accounting software makes it seamless to get data into it.

I find the quality of the scans, and the way it reads tax rates, values, and other pertinent information, to be class-leading; it consistently outperforms others. The pricing structure is tiered and, in my experience, I pass it on to clients and they are more than happy to pay for it, as they much prefer it to the alternatives.

I have used Dext for six years now, and each account manager I have worked with has been very hands-on and has helped me out when required. Whether that’s at shows or on a call, the support is always there. Recently, we’ve been very impressed with the new AI feature, and it has made over 1,000 suggestions to our client base, of which over 900 have been implemented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

I’m finding Dext Solo a little clunky at the moment, so I’ll need to go through another session to understand how to get the best out of it and how my clients use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miguel Mendez of Dext

Lee, over 900 out of 1,000 AI Assist suggestions accepted across your client base is a remarkable number and speaks to how well your team has built up the coding patterns underneath it. On Dext Solo feeling clunky, your account manager is the right person to walk through that with you as they can tailor a session to how your clients actually use it day-to-day rather than a generic onboarding run. If you haven't looked at the Practice Insights dashboard recently, it's worth a check as it gives you a clear view of submission volumes and automation adoption across all clients, which at your scale can quickly surface where a bit of attention would have the most impact.

"Easy, Reliable Receipt Capture That Streamlines Our Bookkeeping"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

We've found Dext to be a valuable addition to our bookkeeping processes. The receipt capture is straightforward and easy for clients to use, whether uploading via the mobile app, email or desktop, and the data extraction is generally accurate, saving a significant amount of manual data entry.

The onboarding process is simple and intuitive, making it quick to get both staff and clients up and running. The integration with accounting software also works well, helping to keep records up to date and reducing the amount of paperwork clients need to retain.

In terms of performance, Dext is generally reliable and processes documents quickly, although there can occasionally be delays during busier periods. The main downside is the pricing, which we find is on the high side; however that being said we find Dext Solo pricing to be very competitve.

Overall, Dext is an easy-to-use, efficient platform that has improved our bookkeeping workflows and made receipt management much simpler for both our team and our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

The main area we feel could be improved is the pricing structure, which can become quite expensive as the number of clients or users increases. While the data extraction is generally very good, there are occasions where supplier details or VAT information require manual correction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miguel Mendez of Dext

Thank you for such a thoughtful review. We’re delighted Dext has simplified receipt capture, onboarding and accounting software integration for your team and clients and that Dext Solo offers strong value.

We appreciate your feedback on pricing and occasional supplier or VAT corrections. Please discuss your requirements with your account manager to explore the available practice plans. AI Assist and Supplier Rules are also worth exploring to automate recurring field updates and coding.

If you use Practice Advanced, Practice Insights can help you track how clients use Dext’s automation across your practice. Thanks again for your review.

"Practical Receipt Capture and Smooth Xero Integration That Cuts Manual Work"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

The receipt and invoice capture is really practical, and the integrations with Xero make the whole process much smoother. It’s one of those tools that actually reduces manual work instead of creating extra steps. I also think it’s very user-friendly for accountants which is not always easy to achieve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

One thing I dislike about Dext is that the OCR is not always consistent, especially with low-quality receipts or complex invoices, so manual corrections are still needed sometimes. Pricing can also become expensive as usage grows. I also think some workflows could be more flexible, especially when dealing with exceptions or unusual accounting cases. Also, when invoices are sent as CSV files, they usually need to be converted into PDF format before uploading, which creates an extra manual step. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miguel Mendez of Dext

DAMLA, it is fantastic to hear that the receipt capture and Xero links are effectively cutting manual overhead for your practice. Regarding the OCR performance on low-quality receipts, ensure documents are flat and well-lit to resolve most extraction gaps; for more flexibility with unusual accounting cases, try utilising supplier rules to manage exceptions without a rigid configuration. On pricing, it is worth discussing your submission volume with an account manager to see if a different bundle offers better value as you grow. The CSV-to-PDF step exists because our engine is optimised for image-based evidence, providing a robust record for audit trails. Finally, to further enhance your efficiency, it is worth exploring AI Assist, as it learns from your historic coding patterns to suggest automations for repetitive tasks while you maintain total control. "Saves money (time), improves accuracy"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

As both a fractional finance director and an accountant/bookkeeper, I’ve set up Dext for a number of clients—some where the client uses it directly, and others where I use it on their behalf. Clients pick it up very easily, and it improves the quality of their work while also saving them time (often saving multiples of the subscription cost).

The new AI Assist should improve accuracy and time savings even further. I've had very limited need for support but Davide Grande has been a great help in seeing what can be achieved with both AI Assist and Dext Solo (for my Making Tax Digital for Tax clients).

Supplier rules are very easy to set up, and save a great deal of time as well as improving consistency/accuracy.

As a user, it's the best software for inputing invoices & bills that I've used, the processing is quick and I've never experienced any system downtime.

I heartily recommend checking this out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

I'm an accountant so always fee focused - there are aspects that, due to the size of my clients, that I refrain from using (health scores, line-by-line splitting) that I'd love to see included. As with any software, always fearful of future price rises! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miguel Mendez of Dext

Michael, really appreciate the review; it is great to hear Davide has been such a help and that supplier rules are delivering accuracy and consistency for your clients. Regarding your points on health scores and line-by-line splitting, we understand those tools are essential as advisory needs evolve. On the pricing side, your account manager can help assess when a client is ready to scale based on their specific submission patterns. Since you are active in both bookkeeping and FD capacities, you might also find Practice Insights useful for monitoring submission trends across your whole portfolio in a single view. "Hours Saved Weekly with Seamless Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

I like that it saves us hours of manual admin each week thanks to its seamless integration with Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage. I also like the intelligent data capture, which lets us scan, email, or snap photos of clients’ receipts and invoices through the mobile app. It automates manual data entry and saves us time, is HMRC compliant, and provides real-time insights into clients’ cash flow and spending. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

The mobile app feels limited and is missing several features that are available on the desktop version. Statement extraction from UK banks can be hit and miss, and the PDFs can be unreliable. Customer support response times are also too slow; it can take up to 48 hours to receive a reply, which isn’t acceptable when we have urgent bookkeeping queries. Finally, the cost of Dext can be quite high for some of our low-volume clients, and it can end up outweighing the time saved compared with other competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miguel Mendez of Dext

Emma, it is great to hear that the Fetch functionality and automated bank matching are driving such efficiency for your team. Regarding your feedback on UK bank statement extraction, those reliability gaps are often caused by the varying PDF formats issued by banks; where possible, connecting a direct bank feed is a much more robust alternative to manual uploads. We have also noted your comments on support response times for internal review, and we encourage you to flag any urgent delays to your account manager for escalation. Finally, if you haven't explored it yet,

"Fast, Intuitive Bookkeeping with Superb Support and Smart Automations"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

It is quick and intuitive to navigate around the software. The multiple methods of document submission suit both the client and our team, and the available automations and computer learning for coding and publishing help streamline the bookkeeping process. Dext is fast at processing documents, and the included client expense management has been a great offering. Support with Dext is consistently superb and always quick to respond. With our client bundle, the cost for both Prepare and Precision is extremely reasonable. The adoption by our team with Dext has been excellent and it has far surpassed the software we used before. Dext is an exciting, progressive software who are always developing the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

The bank statement extraction does not always work well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miguel Mendez of Dext

Sarah, really appreciate the review; it is fantastic to hear that your team has adopted the platform so effectively and that Health & Insights is providing the data needed to influence your service and fee levels. Regarding your feedback on bank statement extraction, those reliability gaps are frequently tied to the varying PDF formats issued by different institutions; where possible, connecting a direct bank feed is a much more robust alternative to manual uploads. Since you are already utilising our expense management features, it is also worth exploring mileage claims, as this allows your team to submit business travel directly using standard reimbursement rates instead of tracking it separately. "Dext Streamlines Receipts and Expenses with Effortless Uploads and Auto-Extraction"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

Dext has made managing receipts, invoices, and expenses much more efficient for me. I particularly like how easy it is to upload documents and have the key information extracted automatically, which saves a significant amount of manual data entry. I also appreciate that it has the facility to save documents, so everything is kept in one place. The software integrates well with the accounting software, which helps keep my records consistent. Overall, it saves time and makes the whole process straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

Increased telephone support when new rules are implemented, such as MTD, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Miguel Mendez of Dext

Rani, thank you for highlighting how Dext streamlines your record-keeping and identifies duplicate invoices. We understand that changes such as MTD can raise questions, and we appreciate your feedback about providing more telephone support when new rules are introduced.

"Simple, Accurate, and Seamless with QuickBooks Online—Great Reporting and AI Enhancements"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

Simple to use and user-friendly, with accurate results. It integrates seamlessly with QuickBooks Online and offers good reporting, especially for accounting firm users. The AI enhancements are also making the tool even more powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

The billing setup is somewhat frustrating. I’m charged based on a projected number of clients rather than the actual number. For example, if I sign up for 100 clients but only have 90 active clients, I’m still paying for the 10 clients I don’t have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly Interface That Pulls Invoice Data Accurately"
5/5
What do you like best about Dext?

The interface is very user-friendly, and it pulls data from invoices quite well, including any extra details (for example, what the invoice was for). I find it easy to navigate, and I’m able to have multiple windows open at the same time. Overall, it’s great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dext?

When I update a nominal ledger code in Sage or Xero, I have to refresh the connection every time. Sometimes, if I’ve made multiple updates without realising it, I end up having to refresh three or four times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
