It's very easy to spin up a site and test out new ideas, develop new sites or components or test updates before launching a site or making major changes to functionality and not worry about breaking anything. It does use Docker, so you'll need a computer with plenty of resources. More of a Docker issue than an app issue, though. I had the same issue with Local (by Flywheel). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering DevKinsta: Make sure you have a computer with plenty of processing power. Otherwise you'll probably be better off using an online server. Also, plan out where you will store you website files so you don't end up with duplicates, or worse - losing them if you end up deleting the site. You can find this in the dashboard though. If you aren't using Kinsta hosting, be sure you check the specs of the server you will be hosting on to make sure they are set up the same. (PHP version, Database, etc.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is DevKinsta solving and how is that benefiting you? For most development these days, it is easy and cheap enough to spin up a site directly on your hosting server, but for testing and just designing website components, that can still be a waste. It also doesn't work well if you have slow wifi or no internet access at all. I can start designs for long projects locally; then when I'm ready to start involving the client or other devs, it is easy enough to migrate the site to a live server. It is also easy to test updates like PHP and new WordPress versions in the same environment so you know they will actually work when moved to the live site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about DevKinsta? This isn't a dislike, but I would love to see a version for .rpm-based Linux distributions that doesn't require the manual install and configuration of Docker. Right now, the .deb-based release installs Docker for you. But, as I mentioned, this isn't a negative, and I believe that as DevKinsta on Linux becomes more popular, this will happen. I also would like to have the option of pushing the local site straight to staging, rather than having to create a staging in the dashboard, then pushing local to staging after it's created. it confused me at first until I read the knowledgebase. It's a tool I now use daily." 5/5 What do you like best about DevKinsta? The thing I like most about DevKinsta is that I can spin up an unlimited amount of test environments with a few clicks. It's much easier and quicker than using staging environments. Especially when you're doing things that are pretty destructive or messy. DevKinsta is a tool I now use daily. Currently, there isn't any way to share something you're testing with a colleague or client as everything is local to your machine.
