DesktopRedact is a privacy-first desktop redaction tool for lawyers, compliance officers, and DPOs who need to remove personal information from PDFs and Word documents without uploading anything to the cloud. It uses AI entity recognition (spaCy + Microsoft Presidio) to auto-detect PII, a keyboard-driven reviewer workflow to approve or dismiss each redaction, and produces a plain-text audit log with SHA-256 chain-of-custody hash alongside every output. Runs locally on macOS, Windows, and Linux — fully offline, no account required.
