The best thing about Designcenter in Solid Edge is its ability to quickly access, organize, and reuse standard parts and assemblies directly within your workspace

The worst thing about the Solid Edge Designcenter is its tendency to suffer from significant performance drops, lagging heavily when navigating or loading large, complex assemblies and external file libraries. This sluggishness is often compounded by a cluttered, multi-click user interface and a steep learning curve for advanced data management, which can disrupt a designer's workflow and slow down overall productivity during intense project phases.

It helps me to develop and prototype a part before its made in the manufacturing. It automatically converts 3D models into accurate production  ready drawings.

One of the aspects I appreciate the most about Designcenter Solid Edge is its intuitive approach to mechanical design and drafting. It's simple to use most of the time, its easy to learn and get used to it.
The most usefull thing is that is similar to other CAD packages avaible in the market

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

It's not aligned with standard libraries. 
It cant make the G0, G1 or G2 condition easily. It has named differently and you cant do it directly in sketches.
There's some bugs right now

It's simple and easy to use. It allows me to my work easily , in big assemblies it is easy to update or have cross links , for example: if i need to use  some features of other parts i can cross link that part

In my view, the biggest value Solid Edge adds is that it lets you enter the Siemens CAD/CAM/CAE ecosystem with software that isn’t expensive and is very approachable for SMEs.

I don’t like that the software doesn’t include an ergonomic analysis module, but considering the software price and its target audience, I can accept that.

It allows me to automate manual tasks, saving time and costs for my clients. Additionally, setting up Designcenter Solid Edge was quite easy and hassle-free.

The limitations are the documentation for the API due to which exploring the API becomes a challenge.

New UI with updated features in both Synchronus and Ordered mode. Automatic drawing features are very useful for preparation of drawings. Style palettes are also good and useful.

Not any specific disadvantge as of now. Sometime crashes for multiple clicks on screen. Files getting corrupted. AI need to be more specific towards the features.

What I appreciate about SolidEdge is the balance it strikes between functionality and practicality. I work in high end mechanical design and metal fabrication environment, and the software provides exactly the level of capability we need without feel8ng unnecessarily bloated.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

SolidEdge can be frustrating sometimes, especially in the early stages of learning. The learning curve is real, and earlier versions were more prone to glitches and stsbility issues. Without a solid understanding of how the system is structured, certain workflows can feel unintuitive.
But many of these problems dissappear with experience and customization.

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped standardize and streamline engineering processes, particularly for modular and custom product lines that rely on repeat components and stock materials.

I appreciate the quick learning curve of the software - it is not only easy to learn basic features but has advanced features which assist with complex design

I do not think the part properties box with the excel style table was particularly easy to use or professional looking, although it does the job it looks less refined than properties data card solutions i have seen on other softwares

I am not aware of any current work design center solid edge or their team are working on but to be honest the software functions well and does not seem to feature any bugs or issues which prevent use

I like how smooth running the applications are with Designcenter Solid Edge, which is crucial for helping clients understand a project without it being slow and laggy. I also enjoy the zooming in and out tool, as it adds to the smooth experience. Additionally, I appreciate that it runs a lot smoother compared to SketchUp, which was our previous software. The initial setup of Designcenter Solid Edge was very easy.

I don't like the highlighting tool because when you click on a specific part of the project, it doesn't give you the needed information like measurements, depth, or size.

I really find the synchronous technology in Designcenter Solid Edge to be an awesome tool; it's at least 2x as fast as ordered. I appreciate that it's a mature product and integrates with NX CAM, and the drawings are very good.

The UI is outdated and quite laggy. I would love to have an implementation that works on Mac hardware. The initial setup was very hard.

It is hard to find resources that already know the application. It does require us to send new users to training. In our current organization this is the lowest number of users.

I love how Designcenter Solid Edge can prepare each part of a machine, then assemble and show the working principle of the mechanical system. This really helps me as I can see dimensional errors when trying to assemble the various parts, allowing me to redesign my project before the manufacturing process starts. It's good to understand and adapt to the functions of the toolbars.

When I try to animate and simulate my final assembly, it is so busy and takes a long time.

I  really like the performance in huge assemblies, also the addon Express Route gives us fast integration of pipes and hoses to our complex systems. PID is a helpful add-on to bigger systems.

The universe of different products with Solid Edge is confusing. So many different addons that help but are costly. For a small company like us the benefit must be really well caluclated

Sometimes it seems like the user needs to cancel out of commands constantly using the ESC command. I would like to be able to use mate conditions and ranges to allow showing movement in an assembly by dragging. (SolidWorks has this capability)

The best thing about the Solid Edge is hands down the tools offered within the CAD software itself. I've used and am familiar with the other CAD software such as Solidworks and Onshape, while there are surface modeling tools that allow you to achieve similar effects to Synchronous they are hardly in the same realm or usability and ease of use.  Some tasks take mer seconds withing Solid Edge that would easily take 30 minutes in Solidworks. Solid Edge is miles ahead of them.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

The hardest thing about using Solid Edge is finding free high-quality information on education and training. I've found that many of the other software out there has tons of free or cheap high quality educational videos that are easy to access and intuitive. This has not been the case for Solid Edge. Which is a shame if you'd like to take advantage of their advanced tools.

As I mentioned previously, Synchronous is one of the biggest advantages of Solid Edge. Enabling use to create complex geometry within seconds, change existing models without breaking them, edit STL files, and much more.

Secondly, the sheet metal flat pattern annotation in drafting phases can be cumbersome, with generating fully annotated flat patterns requiring more manual adjustments than I'd like. Enhancements in automation for creating manufacturing-ready annotations would be beneficial. Lastly, the initial setup and configuration of integrated cloud data management via Teamcenter X poses challenges. The process is complex and requires significant administrative effort. A more streamlined, user-guided 'Quick Start' wizard would simplify this setup for small-to-medium businesses. The software offers a very wide range of capabilities for high-quality modeling. The modeling is very precise and allows extensive possibilities for design iterations after the initial prototypes. It supports virtually all relevant file formats. During the use of the software, Siemens has proven to be very accommodating, both in terms of software options and also regarding technical support.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Drafting (2D drawing) can sometimes be unnecessarily complicated, limiting the possibilities in ways that result in a significant amount of time being lost on details. In addition, there are bugs with the user interface, particularly regarding the orientation of the 3D view. The solution is usually to simply restart the software once these problems appear.

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to develop complex designs more effectively, regardless of the type of manufacturing used, thanks to a much more efficient way of iterating designs provided by parametric CAD software.
