**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

One thing I have come to appreciate more is how Solid Edge helps keep the design process organized while still allowing quick changes. The assembly tools and visualization options are particularly helpful when working on detailed projects. I also like that the software offers a good balance between precision and flexibility, which makes it practical for different types of engineering work.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

I think the user experience could be made more consistent in some areas, especially when moving between different tools and workflows. Some advanced features can also take time to learn, so improved tutorials and more practical examples would be helpful. It would also be nice to see faster performance when opening or editing larger projects.

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solid Edge is solving several real-world challenges I face in product design and development. One major issue it addresses is the difficulty of making fast, accurate changes to models—especially when working under tight deadlines. Its synchronous technology allows me to edit designs without worrying about breaking the model history, which saves time and reduces rework.
It also helps with managing complex assemblies and ensuring design accuracy. The built-in simulation tools let me test performance and identify potential issues early, which improves product quality and reduces costly mistakes. Solid Edge’s ability to integrate with other tools and support multiple file formats makes collaboration with other departments much smoother.
Overall, it’s helping me work faster, reduce errors, and stay focused on innovation rather than troubleshooting technical limitations.

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

The electrical routing tool is an extremely helpful tool, allowing me to creating clear cable routing with automatic length calculation, saving me time modelling these sections up myself. The harness design feature is also greatly beneficial as it enables me to more easily route the cables into the design while also showing each connection point. Finally, the welding tool has now become a staple of the work i carry out as it not only allows me to create these large assemblies, but it can also do weld preparation and allows me to better visualize my assembly. 

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

The finite element tool is still not as powerful as it could be, with ANSYS still being the superior system for large, complex assembly simulations. Additionally, while the wiring and welding tools are extremely beneficial, they are individual addons which drives the cost up considerably, making it unviable for smaller companies. 

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The system is allowing me to solve more complex design in terms of their manufacturing in a much shorter time scale than using a standard cad package and then talking to suppliers about the limitations of their own tooling.

This capability is especially beneficial when working with imported files that lack feature history, as I can manipulate models directly for rapid revisions. Solid Edge excels in stability and speed, which is particularly noticeable when working with large assemblies that previously slowed down or crashed other programs. The software’s ability to handle complex mechanical and electrical design, along with integrated simulation for strength, stress, and flow analysis, within a single environment drastically reduces prototyping costs and minimizes the risk of late-stage failures. I find that there are a few areas in Designcenter Solid Edge that could be improved to enhance the overall user experience. Firstly, the learning resources and community support are lacking; the availability of high-quality, free, community-driven learning resources is limited, which makes it hard for new users to overcome the steep learning curve. Although Siemens offers excellent official training, it could be more accessible. Secondly, the sheet metal flat pattern annotation in drafting phases can be cumbersome, with generating fully annotated flat patterns requiring more manual adjustments than I'd like. Enhancements in automation for creating manufacturing-ready annotations would be beneficial. Lastly, the initial setup and configuration of integrated cloud data management via Teamcenter X poses challenges. The process is complex and requires significant administrative effort. A more streamlined, user-guided 'Quick Start' wizard would simplify this setup for small-to-medium businesses. While the software's base functionality is strong, these usability and accessibility enhancements would greatly benefit users.

The software offers a very wide range of capabilities for high-quality modeling. The modeling is very precise and allows extensive possibilities for design iterations after the initial prototypes. It supports virtually all relevant file formats. During the use of the software, Siemens has proven to be very accommodating, both in terms of software options and also regarding technical support.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Drafting (2D drawing) can sometimes be unnecessarily complicated, limiting the possibilities in ways that result in a significant amount of time being lost on details. In addition, there are bugs with the user interface, particularly regarding the orientation of the 3D view. The solution is usually to simply restart the software once these problems appear.

We are able to develop complex designs more effectively, regardless of the type of manufacturing used, thanks to a much more efficient way of iterating designs provided by parametric CAD software. In addition, through the use of generative design, we fully leverage the possibilities of additive manufacturing, saving both time and material.

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Solid Edge interface is quite user friendly with less clutter of icons and modelling tools conviently placed on straightforward positions which can enable learning it within a few days. Solid Edge Synchronous Technology has made my 3D modelling tasks less strenuous and more efficient with less cycle time per each model as compared to the previous CAD software I have been using. Solid Edge has been a game changer in my design work.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Solid Edge has actually made my design work a lot easier and efficient.I haven't experienced any observable shortcomings. Adding Built in Computational Fluid Dynamics options in the Academic and Community Editions for stress simulation will make it even more convinient for design work to the common student and/or early career reasearchers.

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solid Edge is greatly assisting me in my design work with engineering communication from product conceptualisation to fabrication drawings and product realisation. Stress simulation features help to do Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and help validate designs for stress and failure before fabricating the real product as fabrication/manufacturing of product before validation for failure modes can turn out to be costly if changes are required. Synchronous technology also helps to quickly make changes and updates to existing designs thereby reducing lead time from the product conceptual phase to fabrication.

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

What I appreciate most about Solid Edge is its robust 3D modeling capabilities. The parametric design tools are highly advanced, allowing me to create complex parts efficiently. The assembly module is particularly impressive - managing large assemblies is seamless and intuitive. The dedicated sheet metal design tools are extremely useful for manufacturing workflows. Additionally, the Siemens integration provides excellent compatibility with PLM systems, making it ideal for enterprise environments.

I like using Designcenter Solid Edge for 3D modeling because it provides a fast edit tool. The AI and automation features are great as they automatically create 80% of my 2D drawings with a quick pattern. I find the workflow to be good and it's quite easy to learn and use.

For me the tool has good workflow but in future I want to see we get the editing features when using visual reality gear with Solid Edge.

What I like best about Solid Edge is how intuitive it feels from day one The ease of use is clear thanks to its clean interface and organized ribbon tabs making navigation quick even for new users The ease of implementation allowed me to start real projects almost immediately without a steep learning curve Its ease of integration with CAM and simulation tools means I can handle design machining preparation and testing in one connected workflow I also appreciate the number of features it offers from detailed 3D modeling to built in analysis without feeling cluttered Given my workflow the frequency of use is high and the more I use it the faster and more confident I become in delivering projects While I havent needed to contact customer support yet knowing its available and backed by Siemens adds extra confidence in relying on the software for critical work

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

The only small drawback for me is the default mouse scroll zoom direction, which feels opposite compared to some other CAD tools I’ve used. It’s a quick setting to adapt to, but it takes a short adjustment period. Solid Edge never crashed when I worked with it. It does get slow at times, especially when working with large assemblies, but it handles it eventually. It is well connected with other Siemens tools like Teamcenter, but work fine on its own as well. I find the interface simple for some basic usage. For me, the best thing about Solid Edge is Synchronous Technology. It allows the user to change the geometry without searching through operations history and save time if some last minute changes on the part are required. Solid Edge is very good for sheet metal modeling.

Solid Edge is not beginner friendly. It is hard to find tutorials and documentation, and if you do find some it is usually not that helpfull. Some functions of the software are hard to find if you are not an experienced user. If you are working on large assemblies it can get slow. Having used SolidWorks and NX as well, I can't say that I am not impressed with Solid Edge. For small companies and freelance work it can offer some value, but for more advanced work I wolud not recommend it over SolidWorks or NX.
