## Designcenter Solid Edge Reviews
  ### 1. Good CAD Tool, but very many random Bugs & slow Teamcenter integration

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Solid Edge is in general a good tool to create parts and assemblies. Im working since 2003 with this application. We have in general all functionality, to finish our tasks.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Really sorry to say this, but in recent years, the problems are getting bigger and bigger. :-( We constantly have random errors every day where functions in Solid Edge don't work as they should. And Solid Edge crashes very often without being able to save. And worst of all: 85% of the tickets we report are closed by Siemens, without being investigated because all the errors appear per random and cannot be reproduced. Since 10 years they tell us: The crashes will be fixed with next version, but its never finished. Solid Edge work stable on few small parts, but risk to crash increase massive when working with large assemblies or with more than 5 parts open.

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

n/a

  ### 2. Story about how can be so greedy but at the same time lag behind competitors by at least 5 years

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Honestly, there is no a single feature that is better than competitors

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Well well well... Where to start
1.Perhaps the most disgusting thing is working with a library of standard parts. Terrible ancient and incomprehensible interface. And the main thing is the lack of a normal and understandable method for creating your own library with various materials and connections for assembly. Just look at inventor and make an easy and clear interface for adding new collections like there.
2.Family of parts. The one who worked on this feature has no idea what he was thinking about, why the hell do I need to force the generation of the “child part” , that I want to use, in a folder??? I want to have all the configurations in one file, just select the desired option from a table without creating hundreds of models in a folder. Moreover, "child parts" do not inherit the connections that I applied to the original model using "assign capture fit".
3. Section view. You think It is okay when I cut 30 components in assembly and all of them are cutted in one color??? Why in fusion 360 it is as it should be (every part will have its own surface color cut), but you can not do it?
4. Design configurator. Firstly, why on earth did you think that you could sell this module separately while competitors provide a similar function for free? Why is there a bunch of books and hundreds of videos on YouTube for ilogic from inventor, but you have absolutely nothing, well, except for a couple of useless videos on your website. Is it normal that there is no support for drawing configuration?

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was not my decision to purchase this program.

  ### 3. Not Practical 3D Cad software

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harish J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Data Management, API that's all I like it.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Poor UI, lots of bugs, not give confidence in work while using, Complicated commands, still using old technology in some command, lots of good productive features are already provided by competitor companies from last 10 yrs but still SE not provided those features, looks like it is 15 yrs old software and still in every new version it only updated very little, lots of advance features are still missing compare to other softwares, Some commands are high time consuming, Mates are very difficult to edit, delete and again mating is easy compare to edit. I found lots of improvements in SE compare to others CAD software, No VBA, you have to depend on other coding platforms.Smart Dimension are not "Smart". Lots of Maintenance Packs comes in year, that shows software is under development.

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solidedge is good for data management and API is user friendly, in some features it gives lots of customization.

  ### 4. 20 years using SolidWorks, 3 years using Solid Edge

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cody M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Eventually, you can kind of do what you want. I 8 years it will have features that are now in SolidWorks.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

Assembly patterns. Assembly exploded views. Multibody design in part files. Top down design. Updating linked parts.

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can do my work for the most part, it just takes longer than I can do the same thing is SolidWorks.

**Official Response from Kyzmen Wood:**

> Cody, thank you so much for your honest review of your Solid Edge experience! It saddens us that our platform has been more time consuming for you, below I have attached a tutorial that may be of assistance for your efforts.

  ### 5. Will I recommend solid edge to a friend ?

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed A. | Industrial Technologist Designer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

The finish coloring and the ability to see the projects part fits and splashed together before printing the pieces

**What do you dislike about Designcenter Solid Edge?**

SolidEdge is not a quick program to work on or learn fast.
It got its complicated command and has no short cuts of using the tools as for example typing command, that doesn’t exist.
I really wish that they would develop such typing command to make the task fast and simple for quick projects.
Besides it does freez once a while and might lose your work at some point and start alover.

**Recommendations to others considering Designcenter Solid Edge:**

Do not consider it

**What problems is Designcenter Solid Edge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not anything particular, I think they should do a lot of updates to be competing with other software
