**Reviewed by:** Akshay S. | Design Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

At first I had done my CAD software training through many software in market but my experience with NX was awesome. It's been more than 6 years I'm using NX software to design plastic, sheet metal and casting parts and I found NX very user friendly than other software. The most amazing future is you can use the same sketch in many ways no need to draw different one each time. Also I have used different versions from NX 8 to NX 12 they have improved a lot especially in sketch constraints and other domain like sheet metal surfacing. NX is easiest CAD software to learn.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

My dislike about NX is in latest version they have made the interface more complicated. My thought on this is bringing back the old Nx 12 sketch constraints method in the latest one.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easier interface than other software available can work faster on NX.

**Official Response from Yolanda Dong:**

> Akshay, it's fantastic to hear that NX CAD has made your design work easier and faster. We're committed to providing a user-friendly experience and are pleased to hear that it's benefiting you in this way.

  ### 10. NX Cad in Automotive industry

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kamlesh M. | Studio Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

NX often referred as UG by old users, gives best flexibility in designing a part which does not requires a tree as seen in CATIA. Or may be interpreted as for quick concepts it is one of the best CAD software available in market.

The implementaion of 11th hr changes is possible and suitable with synchronous modeling.

nonetheless we are very well aware that, in Automotive industry the product lifecycle management tool (Teamcenter) is of SIEMENS which is parent company for NX as well. This integration gives seamless data modification from JT environment to part environment.

We have observed that CATIA may sometime face dificulty while filleting at value R0.5 which can be easily done in NX.

A very active customer support solution is made available by siemens and may not be required to connect frequently.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

As in automotive industry, we are more aligned towards surface designing which is more flexible in CATIA compared to NX.

The part with parametric history tree is more important to let user modify without affecting later operations done on part which is a little difficult in NX.

The UI/UX may require some improvements.

Due to above limitations I do not use NX frequenlty.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

as stated previously in product review, other CAD tools such as CATIA does face dificulties filleting over certain faces(0.5mm) which can be surpassed in NX and surface is filleted.

The JT environment to NX seamless transition is need of hour and is well understood by SIEMENS providing parametric modification through JT tool.

**Official Response from Yolanda Dong:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experiences with NX CAD, especially regarding its flexibility and the seamless data modification from JT environment to part environment. We understand your concerns about surface designing and parametric history tree, and we will take this into consideration for future enhancements.

**Reviewed by:** Mohit G. | Assistant Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

Its has a friendly and simple ribbon based interface. I have used it for many years and it is very easy to design the 3d models of components, subassemblies and assemblies of a product with NX CAD. It also makes 2d drafting very simple, just place views and give dimensions in drawing templates. Product image rendering is also very good in NX CAD. It is very easy to implement and integrate with any PLM software.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

I have used it for my regular work, even my entire design team was using this software. I have found working with it very convenient and that's why donot have any dislikes in it.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NX CAD has helped me to convert my legacy design data into 3d models which i can share with my customers as well to check mounting feasibility at their end. It helps me to visualize the product thoroughly in 3d and to identify possible issues in design and assembly of a product without going through expensive prototyping or sampling techniques.

  ### 14. Enhancing User Experience for Better Accessibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anjan M. | Business Development-Management Trainee, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

From an industrial point of view, the software is excellent as it gives industrial people better ease of integration with various accessibility like surface modeling, and trim features for a plane for the automotive industry, and as far I know most of the industrial applications prefer NX CAD over any of the current software to name a few includes Solidworks, PTC Creo.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

The most disliked thing about NX CAD is its not that user-friendly when we talk in the context of new users (educational purposes) as compared to the other software and getting the educational license is another problem that is quite easily available for Autodesk products the reason being in India most of the Autodesk products are preferred. One more thing that can be considered is the customer care support that is lagging in the case of the complete Siemens group which is quite better in the case of Dassault Systems.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main advantage of NX CAD is that the simulation part is an added advantage to the existing software leaving apart Solidworks flow simulation and Fusion 360 inbuilt software simulation but as compared to this software the functionality available in the case of NX CAD is quite well on the simulation part aspects that more-or-less avoids the usage of extra simulation software for analysis.

**Official Response from Yolanda Dong:**

> Anjan, thank you for your feedback on NX CAD. We understand the importance of user-friendliness, especially for new users and educational purposes. We are continuously working to improve the accessibility and availability of educational licenses. Your input on customer care support is also noted, and we will strive to enhance our support services.

Firstly the user interface with various options available makes it a ideal cad software .The next things which is to mention is that Siemens is upgrading, collaborating and bringing new technology like recent introduction of BIM in Nx is very useful for a Hvac engineers.Usually NX mold is very powerful tool .

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

The surface modelling should be improved such that it can be implemented instead of catia and creo in many automobile industry. There is also some bugs in structural engineer application.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a formula student team lead, we are using Siemens Nx for a year. As it is cad, cam, cae, plm package which makes us to perform all the process in single software. We have used several application like structural engineer for modelling our chassis , In our chassis we are using round pipe which is difficult to notch. Structural engineer interface provides us ease to select the types of joints between the structural members just by selecting the joint type like matched cope, which saved most of our time. After making the entire chassis, we used to draft every pipe of the chassis by converting it to sheet metal, make it into flat pattern. The drafted drawing was atached to circumference of a pipe and all the critical notches were perfectly made. In assembly 2D viewer option quickly allows us to check the fit and alignment of the components.

**Official Response from Yolanda Dong:**

> Deepak, we're thrilled to hear that you find the user interface and the recent introduction of BIM in NX CAD to be ideal for your needs. ### 28. NW Review by a CAD Junky

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

The most helpful thing about NX CAD and the upside of NX CAD are one and the same.

The developers at NX really take into account the user and how engineers 'think'. They focus on input received by real users and make constant improvements to make the CAD tool very intuitive and easier to use, with follow on inputs to make the next command more intuitive.

Really like how proactive the NX developers are with the software.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

The downside is that it is a big platform software package. It's pricing point keeps many who would benefit from the software out. It's such a powerful tool, if there was a 'lite' version of it, to get the smaller companies into using it would be something worth looking in to.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NX CAD integrates approved models into the sub assemblies and overall assemblies for validation and correctness of form, fit and function. The design is proofed out digitally before it is ever manufactured providing huge benefits in cost implementation

**Official Response from Yolanda Dong:**

> Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on NX CAD! We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate the user-centric approach of our developers and the continuous improvements to enhance usability. We hear your concerns and invite you to join our community as we think you would have a lot to contribute. https://community.sw.siemens.com/s/topic/0TO4O000000MihTWAS/nx-design

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

- user-friendly. Easy to learn every command
- There are a lot of options to customize commands in every module.
- Strong and stable processing
- Can handle large assemblies very smoothly.
- NX contains many modules that can help users from the ideation phase to manufacturing, providing the same GUI.
- NX also provides offline and online help support for every NX command.
- Cost-effective and has more features than competitor software.
- Siemens continuously works on the development of NX, as they release new patches monthly and new versions every 6–12 months.
- Sketching and modeling are faster because of the shortcuts available for dimensioning and applying constraints.
- In-built machine simulation is available for NX CAM. So that collision can be eliminated in practical operations
- Adoption and implementation of NX CAD/CAM are very easy.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

- Hard to find assembly file due to same extension as that of child parts
- Accessing libraries is a tedious task for some NX modules.
- Choosing the right modules to meet your requirements could be a difficult process as we cannot add any add-on modules randomly.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Various tests available in Checkmate help to make the design meet industry standards.
- Clearance analysis always helps to find assembly errors.
- Animation designers and human modeling make sure the design is safe and error-free.
- User friendliness in NX also increases the work efficiency of designers, so work output will be more
- Working on a neutral file is tremendously easier due to synchronized modeling.
- Switching between different modules, like sheet metal, makes assembly quite easier. So that time is saved.

**Reviewed by:** Shubham S. | Application Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

I have been using NX for the past 2 years and have tested many of the modules in NX, along with it I have been working with 15+ organizations and faced 100s of technical issues in various modules of NX, and below are some of the best things that I found about it:

1) UI and User friendly:-
the UI of NX does stand for its name as it gives a complete feel of using updated and competent software and the user-friendliness is also recommendable as it allows lots of options for users to customize the software as per their need by allowing customize tabs, Shortcuts modifications and saving user preference roles.

2) Easy Customization:-
NX is one of the CAD software that can be easily customized in terms of programming that supports the inputs of almost all file formats like *.vb, *.jar, *.cs, *.py, *.dll and the list goes on. Also, it has inbuild options such as PTS, UDF, and Algorithmic modeling which enables the user to define their own set of commands.

3) Broad Nature:-
Siemens NX has lots of modules across a variety of domains such as Electrical and Mechanical Routing Piping, Reverse Engineering, Mold Wizard, Design Simulation and the list is sizeable which caters to almost every need of an organization so that you do not have to look for any other software in the market all you have to do is enable the license and start using it with the same friendly UI.

4) Constant Improvisations:
Siemens puts lots of effort into the R&D of the software and constantly keeps on updating the software based on customer feedback and IRs and ERs which can be raised by the service partner in order to get quick support from Siemens and if not immediately the problem can be resolved in upcoming releases.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

As we all know everything has some downsides and here are a few as concerned with NX:-

1) Library updation:
The library updation for various modules can be really tricky and difficult at times which might hinder the usability of the particular module.

2) Working within Assembly file:
Sometimes it is difficult to work in assembly files while modifying the components and referencing some of their features.

3) Pricing:
The pricing of the modules of NX can be tricky and at times unfair but this can be avoided using token-based licensing.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NX CAD supports Modelling of the designs, no matter at which point you are, which means it provides you with features & options if you are in the ideation phase or even if you are trying to reverse engineer a product.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Designcenter?**

I liked the new AI powered CAD selection features I was able to test out in one of the hands on classes.

**What do you dislike about Designcenter?**

Sometimes I have random crashs for NX. That's a bummer.

**What problems is Designcenter solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps to design new parts in 3D and allows for powerful retrofit solutions. I also like the drafting application from 3D models, it makes creating drawings very easy.

**Official Response from Yolanda Dong:**
