DesignCalcs is pressure vessel and shell-and-tube heat exchanger design software built for ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1 compliance. It replaces hand calculations and maintained spreadsheets with an embedded library of industry data and proven methodologies, so fabricators and engineering firms can design shells, heads, nozzles, flanges and pipe supports against the Code without tracking revisions themselves. Compliance is checked while you design rather than at the end. Each component returns a real-time result — Passed, Passed with Comment, or Failed — and the software warns you before saving a component that hasn't passed. That means code problems surface when they're cheap to fix, not after the design is finished. Every report includes the actual calculation alongside the governing Code references, and PTB-4 reference designs are included so your checker or Authorized Inspector can verify the calculations directly against the Code book. The Quick Vessel Wizard generates a starting design from basic parameters — dimensions, thickness, pressure — for users who don't want to build from scratch. DesignCalcs integrates natively with NozzlePRO from Paulin Research Group for 3-D finite element analysis of nozzles, saddles, pipe shoes and clips when a design needs FEA. For projects requiring codes beyond ASME Section VIII Division 1 — including Division 2, PD 5500 and EN 13445 — CEI's Finglow covers them, with a DC Import tool that carries existing DesignCalcs designs across.
