**What do you like best about Descript?**

I like how easy it is to drop in a video and audio in Descript. It speeds up the process and provides a great beginning of a post or the details, which I can then build upon with my own knowledge. It's really handy for creating transcripts and LinkedIn posts, and I also use it for generating highlights from podcasts. The initial setup was easy, making the whole experience smooth.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

Some of the tools are not easy to understand, especially when adding the names of people in a video or audio. I've had difficulty making sure that it is turned on properly and that it catches all the different people on the podcast.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Descript for social media posts and to turn transcripts into updates for my website. It speeds up my content creation, giving me a good start for LinkedIn posts and videos, enhancing the overall experience.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

I like the AI interaction, though the AI credit usage is quick. Transcript editing seems good for clarifying unclear words or cutting pauses and ums. The AI also helps in creating clips and trailers.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

I have a hard time with the learning curve for Descript. The subscription plans are confusing and there's no credit for unused subscriptions if I upgrade. The customer service is basically non-existent, just an AI bot. Some features require the business plan, like using my own branding assets, and I can't upload some video formats. The onboarding process isn't great, and I think they should provide more material for new users. Their system doesn't let me experiment freely at the learning stage since the AI credits run out quickly.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Descript to edit podcasts, create clips, transcripts, and trailers. It helps clarify unclear words and cut out pauses or 'umm's, making editing easier.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

I like the quality of the transcripts in Spanish and that I can share it with the students. There are also many editing options to improve it. Being able to export it is also a very good point. 
It has really helped my students improve their speaking because they can check which words they are not pronouncing well but also, once they look at the transcript, can really check their grammar and plan ahead for future assessments.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

It is not that intuitive at first. I would like to be able to do groups but never managed to figure out if it is an option.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is really hard to provide specific speaking feedback to the students once the activity is over. With Descript, students can listen to their own recordings and can read what they have said. It really helps them realise where they need to improve. Sometimes is pronunciation, so they highlight the words Descript couldn't understand and practice saying them. Other times is lack of grammar or sentence structure. In that case, I use the transcripts and have them rewrite it as if it was a writing assessment. This way they realise how much they could have done and practice for future tasks.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a complete beginner when it comes to editing YouTube videos. My entire career has been spent behind a keyboard rather than working with a camera, so video editing doesn’t come naturally to me. However, AI video editing agents in tools like Descript have truly been a lifesaver. They automatically remove filler words and awkward pauses, making the final cut sound polished without requiring me to spend hours working in the timeline.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

The Underlord Agent is clearly still in its early stages, so I've found it challenging at times to get it to complete tasks for me. However, I'm optimistic that as time goes on, it will become much more useful.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our Brand and Creative team is often overwhelmed with requests, which means it usually takes a long time to get videos completed. With Descript, however, I can produce content much more quickly. Although I don't have much experience with video editing, Descript makes it easy for me to create videos that look professionally done.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

I find the transcription feature in Descript makes editing so much easier and faster than anything else I've used. I like the ease of use and the AI tools like removing filler words and regenerate. The regenerate feature really helps when there are internet errors during our remote recordings for the podcast, as it makes fixing these issues simple. The initial setup of Descript was very easy, and I would highly recommend it to others, giving it a 10 out of 10.

The video editing software has a bit of a learning curve, especially with making it clear on what pieces are being edited.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

Descript completely changed the way I edit videos and podcasts. The text based editing is brilliant being able to cut or rearrange content just by editing text feels super intuitive. The Overdub and Studio Sound features save me a lot of time, and the interface is clean and easy to learn. It’s also great for collaboration teammates can jump in, comment, and make quick fixes easily.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

Sometimes Descript can be a bit heavy on system resources, especially with large projects. I’d also like to see more advanced export settings for video, and slightly faster rendering times.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The automatic transcription and Overdub voice feature make content polishing and voice corrections effortless. Overall, Descript has made my workflow much faster, more accurate, and far less stressful.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

I love how Descript allows me to edit directly inside the transcript, which makes it incredibly easy to find and remove sections by simply identifying and deleting words I don't want. This feature significantly streamlines my editing process for sales enablement and public marketing videos. Moreover, I appreciate the AI voice-over capability that supports creating videos for multiple audiences. Although it requires some additional effort to align precisely with the original voice, it nonetheless provides valuable flexibility in video creation. Another aspect I like is the initial setup of Descript, which was straightforward and not difficult at all, making the transition smooth and hassle-free. Given these features and their impact on my workflow, I'm quite reliant on Descript as an essential tool.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

I find it challenging to work with the AI voiceover feature in Descript. Aligning it exactly with the original voiceover takes a lot of time and effort, which disrupts my workflow. Additionally, once the AI voiceover is edited to audio, the inability to revert back is an inconvenience. Currently, matching the AI voiceover with the on-screen action is not as seamless as it should be, which creates further obstacles in editing.

I appreciate Descript's easy accessibility, allowing me to use it both on a web browser and an app based on my needs. This flexibility is crucial for my workflow. I find Descript incredibly user-friendly, offering the ability to easily add my own voice-overs to video clips. The tool supports professional-looking videos even if I lack video editing skills, with options to customize slides with company branding. I also enjoy the variety in avatar options, being able to create both natural and artistic versions, along with custom avatars.

I find that some features, especially those related to tweaking audio clips to match recommended slides and voiceovers in the video clip, are challenging to adjust. I believe there should be more tutorial guides to provide guidance on these features. It's sometimes unclear what specific features are about, and having more detailed guides or tutorials would enhance my understanding and usage of these capabilities.

I'm a professional editor and a creator on YouTube for years, well versed in a myriad of different editing software, but there is nothing on the market today as fast and intuitive as Descript. Adding B-Roll to videos is a literal breeze, and the OverLord sound editor saves me the hours of editing time I used to spend fine tuning audio. Descript is a game changer.

Can lag, as it takes a ton of memory to process video and audio.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The OverLord sound editor saves me hours on fine tuning audio with other software (Audtion, etc.) and adding B-Roll to my videos is a breeze.

As a team of one, this tool has unlocked exponential content creation and repurposing power for me. I've used it for enhancing product demos, creating video content off blogs, professional testimonial videos and more. The AI features are smooth and fairly easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

it is unclear and inconsistent what can be fixed without uploading additional content. For example, I have been able to heal a misspoken word quickly for a short video when it is the first time I am adding that speaker and then for another file it wanted me to add a lot more to get context for just one word.

Our transcription models are about 95% accurate, and can vary based on audio quality. We offer a few ways to correct the transcription and your script for any words that are missed. If you're referring to our Regenerate feature, you should be able to still do one word at a time, but some moments will be better if generated for more words.

Without ANY knowledge whatsoever in editing; I was able to intuitively figure out how to use this software for capturing a longer clip from a YouTube Video.  It also provided my options to enhance my clip such as background noise reduction and fade in/out transitions.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

I would've liked a short, interactive video that showed me how to capture the clip as was provided for the enhanced features.

It is allowing me to capture longer segments in a YouTube video that bring me inspiration and I'll be able to forward these generated clips to a friend who could benefit from it.

I find the text-based editing feature in Descript super helpful for cutting and editing videos. It's such a handy feature that makes the editing process smoother. I also love the waveform audio templates that Descript provides. Additionally, I appreciate that Descript offers an easier-to-use alternative compared to the Adobe suite, making it accessible for everyone.

With the text-based editing, it creates 'hard' cuts. Including an option to punch in between cuts to hide the cuts would be a nice feature.

Text-based editing works really well for long interviews and podcasts. It’s easy for anyone to jump in, read through the transcript, and make adjustments or edits. I also really like the AI features, especially how seamlessly it removes filler words and helps tighten up the videos.

Not something I dislike, but I still finish up my videos with overlays and captions in other programs

The Moment get used to their drastically increase their prices or should I say drastically decrease how much you can use their features.

The abilty to edit audio scripts in realtime and correct umms and ahhs on the fly.

Sometimes I have issues with using the b-rolls when creating videos for my podcasts.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

I find Descript fast, which is crucial for my work, and it's affordable too. The AI features are awesome and they increase the speed of video editing significantly, which I really appreciate.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

The audio enhancer. When you try to enhance the audio, it's not as clear cut out. So if they can improve that.

I use Descript for transcribing my Zoom meetings and editing videos quickly for YouTube by removing filler words.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

Descript makes my videos instantly better. It removed all the sto words (um, uh) in ONE click. And the Studio Sound button makes it sound like I am using a professional mic.
Editing via text is by far the best way to go for screen-recorder videos, which is what I primarilt use Descript for.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

I wish they supported iphone continuity camera better.

Descript makes creating video content MUCH faster.

Descript is an excellent tool and my favorite for video editing. It saves time by allowing precise edits, and the AI feature that removes filler words and silence gaps is fantastic. Additionally, the ability to eliminate retakes is an amazing enhancement. I truly love it! 

Now that I can record my tutorial videos using both the screen and a teleprompter, I’ve cancelled my other video recording subscriptions.

1. Improving the AI voice cloning
2. More images, videos, emojis, etc.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

There is no other piece of software better that allows for text-based video and audio editing. Especially text-based audio editing. It has been the leader of the pack on this since the beginning. This has allowed my channel to grow—while I have experience using pro audio and video software, my team does not, and Descript has allowed them to produce anything from a rough first "paper" edit to the final product. 

If you are making one-speaker videos, podcasts with multiple speakers, smaller-file video creations, Descript is incredible. They keep adding features that can make your final product look more professional. It was a rough start, but Descript's UX/UI is finally starting to look and feel more solid, too. For the one-person creator, it might be the only tool you need.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

We have such a love/hate relationship with Descript. We have used it for 4 years, now, and it has always been buggy. Throughout the app's development, the devs will introduce a feature with bugs, then fix those bugs. The feature will work perfectly for a while, and then get broken again in a later update. I applaud the team for trying to add so many features to the app, but would much rather be able to work with a stable product, and even though we use Descript for a huge part of our workflow weekly, we always have eyes on competitors because we have never felt that we could count on the app. 

Customer support is just OK. They respond, but not quickly, and with the same information that can be found on the website. 

One thing that is particularly frustrating is its speed. Editing small files in Descript is fine, even multi-track audio. But add more than 2 speakers for a video podcast and you are going to have to be OK with editing with spinning beachballs, unsynced audio, laughably slow scubbing. I have tried everything to make the process easier and better: editing with proxies built in other apps, breaking apart longer recordings, and more. Some of these tricks work, but at that point I realize that I could get the job done much faster in Davinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. 

So we use Descript for what it still does best: first draft edits. We try to never mess with creating too many Scenes, b-roll, titles or background audio. Once we have a cut, we export the timeline to another app and finish the job there. It's frustrating, and expensive! But somehow it's hard for us to Quit Descript

Descript is still the best app for text-based audio and video editing. This allows members of our team to make a paper edit first draft for our content, which we then can move into more professional software for fine-tuning.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

I recommend Descript all the time to colleagues. Editing videos and audio is as easy as editing a document, so you don't need to know how to use a complicated editing program to get things done. Want to make a short clip for social? Easy. Want to add subtitles? Easy. Want to drop in an overlay, image, or presentation? Simple.

And you can be up and running in mere moments, so there's very little learning curve for the basic features. The team makes improvements all the time, so the more complex workings can take time to get used to. But I recently narrated an entire audiobook for a side project using Descript and it just worked!

I started out using a free version but quickly moved on to the paid version because it's so feature-rich and you get more transcription time, storage space, and exports without the watermark. I'm sure I'm not even using everything I could be and I use it almost every day!

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

The frequent updates are a necessity for constant improvements, but when you're on a company computer that requires admin access for updates, it causes annoyances. We've resolved that by installing the app in my user folder, but making updates deployable by a centralized IT for enterprize folks, even when we have a smaller license, would be more ideal.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I record a lot of video and then produce transcripts, and Descript produces way more accurate transcripts than the built-in capture from video meeting solutions. I also sometimes create short clips from a weekly livestream show so we can share it on our social channels or in our community.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

As an instructional designer, I am often given lengthy mp4 videos to dissect for creating educational materials for sales enablement. Descript saves me hours of work every week as it allows me to upload video files and within seconds, I have a full transcript. Instead of watching hours of pre-recorded webinars, I can simply upload and review the transcript for the exact information I need. You can even remove speakers' filler words from the transcript with just one click which is so cool!

My favorite feature is the AI "Underlord" where I can simply ask it for a summary of key enhancements for a product release or to formulate assessment questions based on the video transcript.

I would highly recommend this product for those in similar roles looking to save time and utilize innovative features.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

As with any video transcription tool, phrasing may not be 100% accurate every time and still needs human eyes to ensure accurate information. For example, a video transcribed today mentioned the "site bar" instead of the "side bar." 

The only other slight inconvenience for me is that I need to use a Chrome browser to access Descript while most of my other project work is completed in the Safari browser.

Descript is saving me hours of time that would be spent combing through lengthy webinars or pre-recorded informational slideshows, which means that I get to focus my design efforts on other assets.

I love using Descript for editing my podcast videos and making social media clips.  The best parts - and the easiest features to use right from the beginning - is using the underlord ai features to edit the video like a word document, and using it to remove the filler words (um, like, yeah).

I wish making the social clips were more intuitive. I don't always know if I'm screwing up my original video or if the clips are part of a new project or subproject.  Also, when I do our podcast videos, the 2 screens are side by side, but the system doesn't recognize that there are 2 different cameras so I can't use some of the templates. Unless I don't understand how that works, which could be a possibility.

I am not an overly technical person so I never edited videos. Now with Descript, I can look professional, even with minimal editing. It saves me tons of hours in editing and makes it easy for me to edit a video.

I was looking for a platform to help me edit podcast videos with captions and transcripts and came across Descript. I was very impressed with the quality of the platform and everything it does. It's super easy to use and has many powerful, helpful, timesaving features.

Like any system, there are some glitches that exist, but the support team is very helpful and the development team is always working hard to improve the system. I often use Descript to edit my courses with multiple sessions. When I am deleting the sessions from the working space, the system freezes while it processes the request. Granted I'm deleting 6-10 hours of video so its a large size, but nonetheless, I wish there was a way for the system to still work while it deletes in the background. Also, it's not always possible to edit multiple scenes at once but the team is aware of it and it is scheduled for a future update.

As helpful as it is to have AI Captions on videos, there are still many mistakes and I wanted an easy system that would make it possible for me to create acurate captions and transcripts for my video content (Podcast and Courses).

Since switching to Descript, I'm able to edit my podcast episodes myself, in wayyyy less time than I thought it would take me. Like - 2 hours on average per episode? And we're talking completely edited, video AND audio versions, with the AI features helping generate show notes, title, transcript (for a blog) and pulling out 5+ snippets for repurposing as short-form video content. Descript makes it easy to turn one hour of recording into a full week (or more) of marketing content. And I absolutely love that.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

Sometimes there are still (small) chunks of my video that descript maps words to incorrectly, but this is usually after I've been editing quite a bit, so may also just be user error. And it's correctible using the manual correction feature, so not a big issue.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Descript is better than any other tool I've tried for editing pauses and words out of my audio version of my podcast, plus it makes it so easy to pull out short segments to export separately, all within the same 'main file.'  It really helps make content creation across multiple marketing channels a breeze.

Background: I travel accross the country interviewing veterinarians for video! 

 I do not script my interviews, hence I always return to the editing bay with a good amount of material to cut down. The feature I first give thanks to is having the ability to remove filler words, "I usually have 300+ that Descript removes for me." This saves me time and MOST IMPORTANTLY cognitive battery. At the press of a button the convenience of implementing this feature is seamless. 

While no longer specific to Descript, the ability to edit the text and it edit als the audio is incredible. Even after Adobe added it to its suite I still choose to pay for Descript due to the user interface. From the beginning it was quick and easy integration into my workflow. I believe I watched 2 or 3 youtube videos and off to the races I was. 

I currently use it for 3-5 projects a month, so I have become well acquianted with the version history feature as well that I truly appreciate that I dont have to save anything and can have peace that it automatically registers my changes. Anytime I have had credits that need to be applied or had questions Descript customer support has been very kind and articulate.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

The new ai implementation is improving fast but yet to be able to handle more complex asks. For some reason every time I open the app it always says there is a new update even after I update it and open it back up, the notification arises once more. Lastly the speaker identification could use some attention. All very small items in the grand scheme.

The audio to transcription editing capability has prevented me from having to edit audio in Premiere and instead allow me to edit by reading it! A complete game changer. It also assists me in editiing the voice over especially the first pass because it removes all filler content and unecessary words.

At this point I've probably produced about 100 podcast episodes inisde of Descript. This includes everything from using their AI integration to write show notes and descriptions, remove filler words and export high quality video. It's also made it a whole lot easier to splice those into clips as well as create testimonials videos because it's so easy to splice and move around the clips in a way that drives the essence of what I want. I've even used it for personal use like where we had a medical consultation I recorded that I wanted to refrence later and then putting it into descript allowed me to search it easily through the transcript vs. having to scroll through the recording. Overall very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

It's often annoying to find menu items that aren't in the main dashboard or pop up in the wizard. Like sometimes I'll miss or misclick the 'number of speakers' and it always feels like a mission to have to go find it in the menu. I think it's even been moved in certain updates and I'm always frustarted when I have to google how to find the menu item even though it's literally something I do with every single video I uploaed as I mostly do interviews with people so it's never just me as a speaker.

Descript makes it easier for content creators to organize and create media without going over the top to learn and gain new skills. By simplifying the content creation and editing process, it allows many creators and entrepreneurs to get started and use it regularly. I appreciate how it allows me to unify my clips and recordings, edit them similar to the way I would edit a document, and add effects with ease. I'm looking forward to moving from editing interviews to creating video essays, and I know Descript can deliver.

Descript's integrations are good but aren't always technically straightforward. Sometimes, my show guests have a very hard time using the SquadCast integration and we're not able to see or hear one another before or during recording. While there's a Zoom integration, it's not exactly straightforward how it works. SquadCast also doesn't have a way to touch up one's appearance yet, which can detract from its appeal, and its transcription feature, while good, could also use further improvement and refinement.

My favorite part of Descript is a tough question to answer with some many possible answers. I've been creating and editing videos for almost 15 years using another video editing app so trying a new editor can be a challenge. 
Descript makes this easier than I thought. Loads of guides, both written and video to help you along the way. And the Customer support is there if ever needed.
Of the zillion features, by far my fav is the Studio Sound which makes my average audio sound amazing.
There are many close seconds in the 'My Favorite Feature' department. What took me almost an hour on average to do my basic edit, with Descript, that same basic edit is done with underlord in minutes.
So the biggest ROI here is my time.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

As someone who is new to the app, my 'dislike' is that there are so many features that it can easily become overwhelming. To overcome this, I simply used one feature (studio sound) until I mastered it. That makes this easy since most of the features involve a single click. Yes, many of these single-click features have settings, but most are perfect in the default setting.
Also, there is an update almost every other day. Updates can ba a good thing in most cases and the only frustration I've had with these frequesnt updates is sometimes things get moved around. Being new to the app, this makes things really confusing. 
I thought that thingy was here yesterday - now its over there. Not a big deal as you can always check their 'Whats New' changelog for these 'new locations.'

Time. Descript saves me loads of time. What used to take me an hour or more to edit a video will now take minutes to edit that same video.

Descript is so easy to use. Things that I used to have to send to a pro and wait days or weeks for I can now easily do myself. And with the addition of Underlord, I can edit and produce more content in a matter of minutes. Stuff I would have never gone to the expense of having someone else do but I can do myself with a minimal time investment. I've used Descript for a few years now and it feels like they really care about UX and rolling our new features to make it even more valuable without sacrificing usability.

I have two feature requests - I would love if my trained ChatGPT could be used with Underlord vs an untrained bot. I have to flip back and forth to get things in my voice. I would also love to see more aspect ratio options/templates for ads.

Descript makes it really, really easy to maximize the value I get out of every piece of content I create. Obvioulsy it makes it easy to edit my talks but it will also find highlights and create clips of any length that I specify. I produce a podcast (video and audio) that runs Monday-thru-Friday, so I'm in here all the time! Grabbing clips and getting descriptions for YouTube and my RSS is so intuitive and so simple! I used to get overwhelmed by the idea of "more AI tools" but Descript has been easy to implement, and it's been easy to interate into my post-production workflow. I use a separate software to edit the full-length videos, and then I can upload those right in, work with Underlord to churn out my necessary materials, and grab-and-go. I love the ease of the UX. I use it almost every day, and it's an amazing tool!

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

Once I generate clips, I'd love to be able to add a little more on the front end or back end of a clip. Sometimes, it starts just a little after what I'm wanting to include, so a little more flexibility on clip creation would be good. I don't want to have to manually say, "start here or end here" but sometimes I wish I could say "add a little more to the front-end of that" (perhaps it's possibly, and I just haven't figured it out yet). Also, when stock footage or stock imagery is added, most of that is 16:9 format, and it'd be great to be able to pull access from some more vertical formats.

Editing small clips used to take sooooo long, and I had to use an editing software as well as then use a second-software to create vertical video, then captioning, then adding music, etc. Descript is a seamless all-in-one workflow for that post-production process of clip creation.

I can't live without Descript. I am a business owner and I host a podcast. With the podcast, Descript allows me to write a script that I can read from - and with eye contact - the finished product does not look like I'm reading from a script.

Being able to edit based on words in the transcript is amazing. I'm not comfortable (yet) handing off my crazy videos to someone to edit out my uhms/ahs or misspoken parts. It's so easy for me to listen and edit every podcast video.

Then, I add captions and identify short promo clips before exporting.

Outside of my podcast, I use it to help me with social media posts I create. I can easily splice and add text to my videos that enhance my posts.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

The only thing negative I have is sometimes words do not get transcribed correctly. I'm not sure if it that I did not speak clear enough or if there was a glitch in the matrix at that point in time. It's not a huge deal. The impact is that it takes me slightly longer to edit as I either need to type the words (for correct captions) or navigate slowly to grab the correct section to delete.

One last small request would be having a way to add words to a dictionary similar to spell check. My name is always misspelled in the transcript and when I mention a URL, I have to edit the transcript to reflect "@" instead of "at" and "xyz.com" vs "xyz. Com". Just a small frustration that I have to edit those same things on nearly every video I edit.

Neither of these things would make me stop using Descript. It's a game changer for someone like me who is creating content and not comfortable letting someone else edit my stuff.

I am able to comfortably edit my videos without sending them to someone else and explain what I need edited.

Underlord is amazing - it basically does all of the most time consuming parts of video editing for you powered by AI. The text based editing functionality that also lets you edit using the traditional timeline is awesome. Also love studio sound feature. Definitely one of the coolest video editing products I've seen in a long time and I started editing in Final Cut in the early 2000s. Even if you've never edited video before, slide into Descript and skip the thousands of hours it takes to master the craft. I can't wait to see where Descript goes from here.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

I'd say the only downside is sometimes if I'm working on multiple videos at once (I don't advise) things slow down a bit. I also can't wait for Descript Rooms to get a full release so we can do all our recording AND editing in one platform.

Descript solves the problem of recording and editing podcast episodes at scale. It saves us a ton of time that would normally be spent in the tediousness of editing. As an example, prior to descript, it took around 3-4 hours to edit any given podcast episode. With Descript, we've gotten that down to around 30 minutes.

When you absolutely positively can't live without an editor and don't want to have to manage people or wait forever, Descript does the job of an entire team in minutes. I couldn't be happier with the tool and everything it does... from transcripts, to editing, to creating short form and long form videos.. even podcasting, it does it all. AND rarely is there a tool that does ALL and DOES ALL WELL... Descript DOES. Save money. Save time. Save frustrations. Just get Descript... it's the "Migraine Medicine" for literally dozens of headaches inside your business.

I wish they had a lot more options for things to do with their API, there's so much being missed right now that could be done via automation with this access.

A number of online video editors are trying to do what Descript does - allow you to edit a video by deleting or moving text in the transcript. But, so far at least, none of them do as great a job as Descript does. The resulting videos have smooth cuts. 

Rarely do I need to go into the timeline to make a more manual edit, but if I do, editing the sequence of combined video and audio is a breeze. The scene templates also make it faster to get my video out the door, while creating my own scenes based on those templates is fast. 

Since restarting my YouTube channel, I've been using Descript nearly everyday to create shorts and longer content videos. I don't have to rely on a team or pro video editor, which can get expensive and time consuming.

Finally, the new Underlord AI editing tool allows me to make otherwise super tedious edits with a few clicks instead of painstakingly scrubbing through the timeline like I used to have to do with Screenflow or Adobe. Removing umms, ahhs, and extended pauses is really fast. And if it gets overzealous on its cuts, I can quickly "restore removed media" to fix particular phrases in the video.  

My experience with customer support has been minimal, but the onboarding emails and UX of the browser and desktop apps had me up and running quickly.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

I'd like to have a more obvious area of library files to load into the dashboard instead of only including them within a project. 

And I'd like it to be more obvious on creating different formats and clips from the same set of files. I initially thought I had to duplicate the projects and create new scenes instead of (what I learned later) highlighting a section and creating a new composition within the same project (which is brilliant).

Descript takes tedious editing processes and streamlines them fast. What would take me several days to fully edit/produce a solid YouTube video takes me less than an hour. This allows me to create and release my videos more quickly, and has given me more momentum in my content creation.

Text editin of video is an incredibly powerful tool for producing oral histories in the traditional transcription form and now with a corresponding video. As a Windows user I found what I guess is a MAC based interface confusing.  I am an expeienced graphics and text editor but as a newbee to video (or audio) editing I found their training materials to be near useless.  I have now edited about 3 hours of video, taken three webinars and looked at a lot of their online support material and still don't feel competent in the basics of editing.

I produce video oral history sessions for groups or indviduals, have them sent out for transcription  and then interactively edit the transcription into a final transcription, tradtionally archiving the raw video and publishing the final edited transcription.  The external transcription service is expensive and slow.  Descript has the potential to lower the cost, reduce time and produce a final video corresponding to the final transcript.  It could revolutionize this process but right now it is for me really hard to learn.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

Descript has completely revolutionized my video creation process! As someone who works extensively with interviews and spoken content, this tool is a game-changer. What used to take me hours—like cutting filler words, or finding specific quotes—now takes mere minutes.  

The transcription feature is fast and impressively accurate, and the ability to edit audio and video simply by editing the text is an absolute time-saver. The Underlord AI is an unexpected gem, helping me create written content directly in app. Whether it’s crafting YouTube descriptions or generating detailed show notes complete with timestamps, it handles it all seamlessly.  

For anyone in video production, Descript isn't just a nice-to-have—it's essential. My workflow is faster, my content is better, and I can't imagine going back to the old way of doing things. Highly recommend!

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

Descript has been focused on adding editing features but they still pale in comparison to other non linear editing softwares. I wish the workflow was a bit easier between Descript and other platforms, for example Multi-cam sequences only works with a couple softwares but not FCPX. Also I was dissapointed they removed Regen as a standalone function and require you to authenticate voices. We work with a variety of different speakers - we don't have the ability to record the Overdub permission statement. The customer support is sometimes slow, I had a case that was escalated but never recieved a follow up.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reviewing recorded content like testimonials and interviews is much faster than before, instead of scrubbing through hours of content - you can simply read the content recorded.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

The "Eye Contact" feature is really nice and works well. It's also really good to have access to various types of stock media, for where I might not already have the necessary B-roll or bg music/sounds. The transription feature generally works about as well as anyone else's.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

Although I have a VERY fast computer (Core i9, 80GB ram, 4TB M.2 SSD, RTX 4080 Super), and a 500MB u/d fiber internet connection, much of the functionality takes (what seems like) an inordinately long time to process. It took 1.5 minutes to process the breen screen (background removal) effect on a 45 second clip, and it ended up removing my mic in front of my and my right shoulder, in addition to the background. I'm sure that all/most of the functionality is being handed off to their servers for processing, so it would be good if a user could choose between client side or server side processing and see which works best for them. Also, the editor is a bit clunky/touchy/finicky to use sometimes. It's also not helpful that the right sidebar for Effects, Elements, Stock media, etc. can't be resized, so for somethng like looking for a clip in Stock, it can take a LOT of scrolling.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Eye Contact feature and Stock Media is really what I got it for.

Descript requires a network connection to edit and more specifically, run those AI actions like Background Removal. The processing is usually related to network speed, and if you have any special network settings like a Firewall, or VPN, it can also slow those down.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

Descript's script editor, transition and sound effects make editing so much more efficient. I love the different features like background customizations, animations for elements added to the screen, zoom and other layouts for the main image/screen. I love the transcript editing and export ease. I love using UnderLord AI for quick clarity or filler word edits and I love the studio sound effect to boost audio and ducking when needed for leveling background noise or music.

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

In my lower tier paid option, there is no bulk transitions/sound effects. That's tedious. I also find creating titles tedious and time consuming. Wish there were a faster way to that. I don't like having only 12 sound effects on my plan. I feel a paid version should have many more options to that element.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Descript is my go-to for my podcast editing as well as social media product promos. It makes the process so much easier and faster for me as a solo entreprenuer, course creator, author, and coach.

Descript is always innovating and adding features.
When i first got it - the ability to edit the video recording by editing text was a game changer. It cut my podcast interview editing time by 70 %.
... That enabled me to start a second podcast.
I even went back and used descript to edit previously published episodes which gave me much cleaner edges.
... Innovation is great, there are features being added, it seems, all the time, from squadcast partnership - making multiple people to join a recording easier, to AI features like one to make eye contact improvements for peopel who do not look at the camera!
... and the AI feature which lets me add content by - generating in my voice from text - just another example why I am hooked on Descript.
... Two more things - customer support - is fantastic - I have had questions and stumbles and received great real human help in solving. The help database is good for most things though.
The final thing that was a game changer for me was the ability to go back and get past versions. recovering a past version to re-edit has saved me hours!

It does require a good bit of memory sometimes...

it allows me to quickly edit all episode of my 2 interview podcasts - almost always in video, but occasionally only audio - and it works seamlessly for both types.

I use Descript every day to record and edit podcast episodes.  You don't have to be a professional video producer to have a great podcast and YouTube channel.  

My favorite features are:
- Remove filler words - I have about 100 per episode removed in one click
- Automatic multi cam - Auto creates 100 scenes per episode that feature active speaker and reaction shots
- Social clips - Easy to create 1-2 minute clips for social media
- Good show notes and episode summaries 

Overall Descript makes it possible for me to be an army of one producing over 200 podcast episodes in one year.

It can be a bit glitchy from time to time.  They need to improve training and support videos on the best way to use all the features of their solution.

**What do you like best about Descript?**

This is easily the very best software that I use on a daily basis. I use it to help transcribe meetings from recorded phone calls, I record all of my social media content directly into the app as well as utilizing their partner Squadcast, which is a seamless integration in the script for all of my podcast content. It makes collaboration simple an work effective. It was easy for me to get started and the learning curve was so low! Lastly, anytime I have needed help, the team was always there to help me!

**What do you dislike about Descript?**

The only improvement that I would like to see our additional editing function to the video itself so that I don't have to take it in color corrected and a different app.

**What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to edit things very quickly, it allows me to get content to my team remotely very fast and considering it's cloud based, it makes sharing very simple.
