I also personally find it difficult to add in audio since when trying to add in audio to the middle of a paragraph, it adds it to the very end and I have no idea how to put it where it belongs. Also, the AI picture generation confused me and I don't know how to save the image so I don't utilize this function even though I think it would be helpful. I am not a novice to audio editing, but I'm also not a seasoned professional. I was able to jump right in and get to work. And anything that was not immediately clear, I easily found information on between the great help articles on the website, as well as videos. The transscription feature is uber convenient. I love the recording options and the interface. But my FAVORITE thing is the regenerative replacement. It has been a godsend! I have ended up with some really tough audio and being able to fix words or phrases that are muddy or just sound weird without having to re-record makes me so happy. I've only had Descript for about amonth now but have used it frequently and completed many projects already. I have had no need to connect with customer support. **What do you dislike about Descript?** I like the studio sound feature, but I feel there can be room for improviement here. I'd love to see a little more flexibilty here other than just the percentage applied. AI tools like eyeline correction is easy to use, and much cheaper compared to other solutions. I use Descript several times each week. I use it to remove filler words, and I love the ability to export the text to Word. I use Descript for Audio and Video editing for our church. Most of the messages are from online services, and the speakers I work with are from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States. After importing files, I always use the AI Studio Sound editor first; it processes at 100% first, and then you can reduce the effect to what you are happy with. The ability to remove sections simply by reading the text while you watch the video/audio is too easy; you will love it. **What do you dislike about Descript?** I am still not up to speed when it comes to using the timeline edited part of Descript. "O" I forgot to mention that there are two ways to edit in Descript. I do podcasting plus videos. For the one monthly fee I get one location where I can flow across pieces of work within the one program. The ability to embed a thumbnail of a video (which is actually a link) inside an email or text message is a feature I use quite a bit. Grabs people's attention. I could go on...am still discovering all the versitility. **What do you dislike about Descript?** Clunky. It takes some getting used to using. Some parts aren't that bad if you've done NLP a/v creations. Other parts, such as the interface, take some getting used to. I've purchased some courses to help with this "discovery" aspect. Saying that, I must confess I've yet to dive deeply into the help files offered because I find the help files other users create are a bit more succinct. I believe the ease of implementation and integration will get better as time goes by. As stated earlier, I lack any regrets making the switch to Descript. A 1 hour 35 minute audio file was uploaded and i paid for 2 hours. They also said I would receive 30 minutes free. Great. It transcribed into Greek text, useless to me because I don't speak Greek but that's why I was using their system, clicked 'Translate" and got this: "You need more time. 54 minutes 42 seconds remaining, to continue translating this transcript you need to have 1 hour 35 minutes 17 seconds." That is NOT how their pricing is described. I paid for 2 hours translation, not just Greek text. Also on G2 I see their pricing as $5 per hour, no they charge $10 per hour and apparently you have to pay for the tranascription and then pay the same again for the translation, so it's actually $20 per hour. **Official Response from Christiana Cromer:** > Hi Alan! I also woudl mentions that Descript customer support is amazing. They offer you to schedule calls proactively to make the best of the system. Descript has become pretty much my daily go to tool for our media creation. It's so easy to just take a script from a recording an turn it into a blog post. We were able to integrate it with our existing marketing tools, and replace DaVInce and Adobe tools completely. It is also very easy to implement workflows with the collaboration capabilities. **What do you dislike about Descript?** Descript is amazing, however, Squadcast is not as reliable as other options. It took next to no time to get comfortable with it and the team keeps making the product better and bringing all of the power of existing video editors into the Descript ecosystem. Honestly, I really love it and would highly recommend a 2021 looking to edit any kind of video. **What do you dislike about Descript?** I wouldn't say there's anything in particular I dislike about Descript. The only thing that I would flag here is that the dubbing feature is a little bit overrated and that's really because it doesn't work in video. It only really works in audio or if you've got something on screen other than a talking head. Which makes sense but it's overhyped for what it is. of years. **What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Descript as my primary video editing software. I prefer to capture my video elsewhere as in the early days of using Descript I ran into some issues with it failing on screen recordings. But... That's a pretty minor issue in the grand scheme of things. I should also add that by following instructions that I got from the Discord I was actually able to recover the video that was lost. I've just chosen to stick with using plain old QuickTime for capturing my videos. But when it comes to editing the first thing I do when I get any video wherever it's from is to throw it into Descript and start improving and editing it. It's at the very center of my workflow and there's no way you could take it off me at this point. ### 41. I recorded my voice and cleaned it up nearly two years ago. I upload this file and about 5 hours later, I had a quality AI voice. Many people are amazed how well the voice sounds. Now I record the video portion separately from the audio portion. On dual screen, video editor on one, Descript on the other, I type the description of the video action. Export the sound files to the video editor. Arrange the sound files and edit the video files to match sound file. Now, I have a quality "How To" videos with minimum effort. I am currently editing videos now. I took time to write this review because Descript is deserving of my attention for what it has done for my video production process. **What do you dislike about Descript?** Because english is a tough language to sound out, I always have to make slight adjustments to the text to get the sound I want. I have learn this during test editing. **What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?** Not having to record and re-record audio and video files. Easy to transcribe massive amounts of interviews and put together an amzing show. **What do you dislike about Descript?** The more material you use, performance can begin to suffer. **What problems is Descript solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our shows typically have over 30 hours of interviews with 15-20 people in our cast. We can transcribe and pull tape very quickly. We can create multiple versions of each episode easily. Everyone from associate producers, writers, hosts and executive producers can jump into the project and contribute meaningfully. This allows more time to be spend on the creative style and perfecting the narrative as opposed to spending time tracking down tape. Once our editing and writing is complete it easily transfers into Pro Tools to allow top of the line work from experienced composers, sound designers and mixers. This also saves time since tape does not have to be repulled or relinked. Descript uses the raw footage from the original recordings and the post production has easy access to all the tape to pull out heads and cut tails non-destructively. ### 48. It's a one-stop shop. I know I don't yet take full advantage of everything that it can do, but it definitely simplifies my process for recording. And the use of AI within it just keeps making it better. I also can't say enough good things abot their customer service. An updated version had made my camera stop working anytime I wanted to record, and they worked directly with me for weeks to navigate a solution. I never felt like I didn't know where they were in the process and felt seen and heard with the frustration. I let it go on before reaching out for months before I actually got so fed up with it that I reached out. My advice to anyone with an issue, reach out... they genuinely wanted to find a solution. **What do you dislike about Descript?** It's complex.
