I love the way Deputy sends me notifications about upcoming shifts. Clocking in and out is easy and leaving a review of your workday helps you to channel what was good about your day and what could be worked on for improvement. One issue I have encountered with Deputy is that sometimes I cannot press the “Start” button for my shift unless I am within 300 meters of the work location. Even when I am within that range, there are occasions when the shift cannot be started. In such cases, I have to contact the staffing agency every time and ask them to manually activate the start button, which can be very time-consuming. Scheduling and making adjustments can also be difficult, requiring support from the company at times. Additionally, if I enter my available work locations for every week, it is difficult to remove them later. Even after setting an end date, the system sometimes reverts, and I end up receiving repeated phone calls from the company. Despite these issues, I find some features of Deputy very useful. For example, I use the function that shows the time remaining until my next shift and the number of scheduled shifts at a glance. Being able to view my shifts in one place is very convenient. I find it problematic that the app and desktop versions of Deputy are not similar enough in terms of functionality. For instance, I can alter my timesheets on the app, but not on the desktop. Conversely, I can see my full roster with my colleagues on the desktop, but not on the app. The lack of alignment between the app and desktop versions is quite annoying and can disrupt my workflow.
