It is much easier to use and has a cleaner interface than competitors as well. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** There isn't a ton I don't like about the tool. I wish it were easier to set up users with access to it inside the platform instead of from the website. I wish there were an easier way to export duplicates to review before merging. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving most of our data problems in Salesforce by using Demand Tools to report out duplicates for accounts, cases, contacts, leads, and opportunities. We also use it to run reports and fix formatting errors on fields that lock records from being edited. With fixing duplicates and formatting errors, we have found our Salesforce instance runs faster and more efficiently. ### 3. The ability to export data that drills down through more than 3 objects is invaluable in my role of Salesforce Administrator and Developer. It allows me to extract (and analyze) data that cannot be extracted via Saleforce reports. 2. Another feature that is invaluable is the ability to extract data based on a single type of Salesforce ID to analyze the data related to that ID, both upstream and downstream of the source record ID used. 3. Demand Tools also enables me to update data and fields that are otherwise not editable to users in Salesforce (unless we create separate apex pages just for Enterprise Admins which would clutter up our org and add maintenance demands).. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** 1. The change to your pricing stratgey (based on the number of Salesforce users in our org instead of per named user) is a big negative to us. We have only 4 Demand Tools users in our company (who are Salesforce Administrators who support our org) and want to keep it that way because we don't want to give unknowledgeable Salesforce users the ability to edit, delete or export records they should not have access to. Your new pricing strategy costs us a lot of money in comparison to the previous pricing strategy (per named user). Our company should be grandfathered to the "named user" pricing model because we have been a consistant customer of CRM Fusion for over 12 years. 2. This is a minor nuisance compared to all the things I like about Demand tools. When logging into a sandbox using Demand Tools, it is a bit of a "trial and error" process because I cannot see the full username I'm attempting to login to. If it is wrong, then I select the next one down and try again. It would be more efficient if I could see the entire username in the login window when logging into a sandbox. As it works now, I don't see the full username until I login and can look at the bottom of the window to see the username to determine which sandbox I actually logged into. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Be very selective when choosing users to whom you give a Demand Tools license. The power of the tool can be greatly misused if the user is not focused at an overall org level. As they say "with great power comes great responsibility". **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. DemandTools also has some tools for cleaning up addresses, phone numbers, and capitalizations that are very very handy to get standardized formatting. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Duplicate Check is very difficult. The tools are there, but often don't bring the results desired. Sometimes the process to bulk update can take a very long time. And, using the bulk option (up to 5k records at a time) can often time out very often. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data cleansing!!! Demandtools is my preferred data management tool over the native SFDC dataloader. We have multiple use cases for the DemandTools product suite, and have often used it as a backup when other automation or processes are at risk or failing. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Nothing major comes to mind. I wish that single-table de-dupe was a little less of a manual process, but I have noticed with the new interface that it's easier to review your work quickly before processing. Have experienced some errors in de-duplication with the new interface, but I chalk that up to early bugs and hopefully it will be sorted out soon. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mass updates - lead and contact field cleanup, reassignments, de-duping, batch/scheduled jobs (querying for incomplete/incorrect data and making the standardization changes without having to manually process) finding and reporting IDs to search for records you already have in the database, importing and standardizing lists. ### 9. We are an international company, and the dailer we use has a specific format, so we had to get our phone numbers cleaned up to stop creating duplicates and frustrating our customer service people. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Unfotuantely the cost of the products continues to go up every year and it getting harder to justify the cost to my leaders, even though its a powerful tool and makes my life much easier in cleaning up data. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Allows us to clean our data across the board without even having to export it from salesforce. Most of the solution is designed around SFDC. I wish I had a better cadence with their support team to maximize the tool in my tech stack to run dedupe proceedure automatically. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Evaluate your options - there are many players in the space. It's super powerful, and when it works perfectly, there is a lot that somebody can do with Demand Tools. I personally like the merge and modify features. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The new upgraded version does not have adequate trainings and the customer support is not as robust. There is no way to get on a call with support to debug the error messages. These tools have a ton of customizability in order to match the customizable nature of SF orgs. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The new version has stripped down a small amount of functionality that really was needed (no more cloning match steps; really??) but is otherwise a pretty solid improvement. The learning curve is, however, substantial. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data cleanliness is the primary problem that I solve with DemandTools, followed closely behind by avoiding duplicates, matching records, and upserting data. Each module is incredibly in-depth, and once you can get over the learning curve, you will be thankful that you replaced your prior ETL tool. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** There are a few ongoing bugs and design choices that their team has made that disrupt my workflow. The scrolling on many menus has velocity incredibly high, so one click of the scroll wheel will scroll past hundreds of fields, making scrolling essentially useless. This scrolling issue is easily the most disruptive "feature" of the software. Furthermore, I've noticed that the filtering when you look through related objects doesn't reset when you reset the filter, which causes some frustration when doing more complex operations. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Validity holds webinars regularly. These webinars are precious guides for people who are new to the tool. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've taken a lot of responsibility off of the plate of our SQL team because many of the tedious tasks that they were responsible for our admin team was able to handle through DemandTools' feature stack. ### 20. DemandTools is a data-quality power toolset; it de-dupes, finds IDs, mass updates records, and much more, sometimes saving me days of work. I cannot do my job without DemandTools. You can update thousands of records with a push of a button, saving a Salesforce admin valuable time. The return on investment is recognized in how quickly the tool positively impacts data. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The interface hasn't changed much since I began using it 14 years ago. In some ways, that is good, as it is familiar to me. However, the look and feel is a bit outdated, which comes to light when I'm showing new admins how to use it. Small item that is greatly outweighed by all the awesome functionality! **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. In one of my previous positions, we had over 3 million Contacts in our database, and many were duplicates. We used DemandTools to cull that down to 1.5 million contacts in just a few hours 2. Another time, I had created a custom object to store data associated with Accounts. I used DemandTools to locate the matching Accounts (Find/Report IDs), as well as Mass Effect to create the 7500new records in the custom object quickly 3. Currently, we use MassImpact for standardization – for example, we are rolling out State/Country picklists. I am cleaning our current address data using DemandTools so that the effort will not be so great. I always use MassImpact when we have changes that are easier done through writing a formula vs. doing data manipulation in a spreadsheet, where it’s a global replacement. 4. I use Single Table Dedupe regularly to mass merge Accounts, Contacts, and Leads. 5. We use Find/Report IDs when we’re trying to import new data into Salesforce to ensure that we’re not creating duplicates and can update existing records correctly. ### 21. We have a lot of quirkiness to our data and the ability to create scenarios and save them to be used over and over again is such a time saver! I also love that I can do territory assignments so quickly. I use this tool every day. It's so versatile! **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** Honestly, there isn't anything I dislike about this tool. It has helped me in so many ways. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. Imports - The Find ID's feature allows me to lookup accounts/contacts/leads, etc., before importing so I don't create duplicates. I would say I use this feature the most. 2. Mass Lead conversion - DemandTools allows me to auto convert Leads that have come into our system where they already exist as contacts. I run this process monthly. Keeps our leads separate from our existing customers. 3. MassImpact - I use this feature to make large-scale changes to a field. Or if I create a new workflow rule in salesforce and need it to run not just going forward but also on existing data. It takes a few minutes to set it up and it's done quickly. 4. Deduping - We all get duplicates in our data and using DemandTools de-duping feature makes getting rid of duplicates so easy. Like I said above, you can set up scenarios based on your specific data and use them over and over again. I run de-duping on our database monthly. 5. I extract data using DemandTools instead of running salesforce reports and exporting. 6. Reassign ownership - In one process, I can reassign accounts/contacts/tasks/events without having to use spreadsheets. 7. ReportEdit - This allows me to see all reports in salesforce and delete unused reports in mass. I run this process quarterly. If you have hundreds of salesforce users, you likely have hundreds of reports that get created once and never get used again. Running this process allows me to clean out those reports and reports owned by people no longer with the company. The nice thing is that it won't allow you to delete reports linked to dashboards so you don't end up getting rid of a report that may not get run but its associated with a dashboard that does get used. ### 25. I also love that job metadata can be extracted and committed to a version control system for safekeeping. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The worst part about DemandTools is a current product limitation that regularly produces avoidable errors when merging accounts and contacts. DemandTools forces the "write if blank" behavior when the field on a chosen record is blank, even when the rules for the merge are defined with the intention of keeping the blank value on the chosen record. One very painful way this problem manifests is when State and Country Picklists are enabled in Salesforce. In this case, the dedupe job in DemandTools will fail predictably when trying to merge a record containing a U.S. address having a State/Province value into a master record that has a Singapore address having no State/Province value. **Recommendations to others considering DemandTools:** Get a trial set up early and run the product multiple times through your expected scenarios, to uncover any unexpected gotchas. I have never used a tool that was so all encompassing with the mass editing/deleting/creating abilities of Demandtools. Once you learn the basics, I think it was pretty easy to use. The tool that saves me the most time is the ID look up. At previous orgs without demand tools, I would have to pull reports for IDs that took for ever to make. Now, I can include data easily laid out in a spreadsheet and Demandtools does the work of matching the IDs to the data. No more annoying/slow SFDC reports and no more janky ID matching fomulas in Excel. **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** It took some time to learn. As with any mass editing tool, you should be very careful while using it, make sure you understand the Demandtools basics, and practice in a Sandbox. PowerGrid also makes it super simple to build and run SOQL queries. Saving scenarios in each of the features is a huge time-saver. The interface is an older UI, but once you get familiar with the layout, everything you need to very clear and in easy to follow steps. **What problems is DemandTools solving and how is that benefiting you?** Uploading lists is the #1 use. We upload a lot of lists from Events vendors, and the de-duplication tools are indispensable. The second biggest use is backfilling and alining data. We support multiple departments that are constantly adding, removing, and reorganizing the data they want to collect. Being able to 'Backfill" data into new fields for reporting consistency is key. My favorite "quick update" tool is definitely PowerGrid. It is just like an excel spreadsheet. I can pull in targeted sets of data and just overwrite the incorrect entries. It is MAGIC. ### 46. For a long time, we were able to identify duplicates on import or update with DupeBlocker. Now using DemandTools in addition to DupeBlocker, we can search for and identify duplicates that need to be resolved inside our entire Salesforce org. DemandTools is a powerful tool. I look forward to learning more and furthering our implementation! **What do you dislike about DemandTools?** The user interface of DemandTools can be intimidating and a bit confusing when using the tool for the first time; it takes some time to get used to it.
