## DbVisualizer Reviews
  ### 1. DbVisualizer is an excellent tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sue Anne H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Very easy/intuitive to use. It does everything.

I am a senior software architect for a very small company. I've been using DbVisualizer for many years, I literally can't do my job without it. It's easy to install and update, and is incredibly intuitive to use. DbVisualizer has saved me hundreds of hours of development time.
It is my very favorite tool.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

This is minor, and it speaks to how lazy I am. If I am only connected to one DB, DbVis should just assume that's the connection I want to use when executing SQL, and roll it into the Database Connection box.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

DbVisualizer is an excellent tool. I am a senior software architect for a very small company. I've been using DbVisualizer for many years, I literally can't do my job without it. It's easy to install and update, and is incredibly intuitive to use. DbVisualizer has saved me hundreds of hours of development time.
It is my very favorite tool.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I write database performance monitoring software so I write thousands of lines of SQL. I execute every single line of it through DbVis before it goes into the code.

  ### 2. Excellent Product for Analysis and CRUD

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arvind J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Ease of use, configuration, export and import options for data. This is an awesome tool

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

There are some UI issues in Mac, the cursor stops working when the focus on the app is lost for a minute. Easier set up options for making other users invisible.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

One stop tool, look no further.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly for generating queries, querying data and the biggest surprise is data updates, that can be executed. We have also used this to import data into our system.

  ### 3. Nice product, easy to install, easy to manage licenses and settings. All good.

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Option to have so many different types of databases configured and connected in one client.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

On large datawarehouses the table and view name caching takes a bit long and stops you from continuing work in the meantime

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Going to a single db client.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Thank you for your feedback!

  ### 4. the best so far

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DBVis: the convenience and simplicity of using all the tools for creating and maintaining relational databases. I use 90% PostgreSQL and I prefer DBVis to pgAdmin to create and modify my dbs. From Windows 11 to MacOS to Linux, from multiprocessors to Raspberry for me it is an indispensable tool.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Nothing. I'm just sorry it's not an open-source product.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use 90% PostgreSQL and I prefer DBVis to pgAdmin to create and modify my dbs.

  ### 6. Data swiss army knife

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

The variety of data stores I am able to connect to is incredible!

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

noting that comes to mind - maybe an easier way to add needed jars?

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Haven't found anything better when you need to access a wide range of data sotores

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Any db I need to connect to for a wide range of reasons is at my fingertips. Also getting data structure infomartation.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

  ### 7. Powerful data editor and sql commander

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jayakrishnan S. | Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Sql commander is great and provides the export options customized to create and generate the scripts.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Heap memory gets full when we open multiple tables at a time. So it requires restarting the app.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily execute the scripts. Able to compare the table data and filter the data quite fast. Can generate the scripts in different formats.

  ### 8. Solid, easy to use database browser tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It's an easy to use, intuitive database browser with the functionality to do all the basics really well. I find it a much more pleasant experience than some of the more common tools

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Not much. There is the odd very obtuse Oracle specific analytic query the parser doesn't seem to support (it infers some wildcards in search patterns as SP variable substitutions so prompts for a value) but that's probably my ignorance of the workaround rather than a defect.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pretty standard db queries as part of software development and adhoc discovery.

  ### 9. The best tool to connect to different database servers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Textiles | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I'm a developer and need to connect to different types of database servers at the same time

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Nothing ...!! I'm fully satisfied, It is perfect for my needs

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to be connected to all types of my clients' DBs and to copy data from one system to another

  ### 10. Love Me Some DbVisualizer!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I love the fact that DbVisualizer works with all the database systems that I have databases in. It makes life VERY easy for me to go back and forth from MS SQL Server to MariaDB to PostgreSQL to MySQL. AND, I also have options if I have to work with others too!

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Not really a dislike, just a minor inconvenience with having to install Java in order to use it.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My "problems" aren't really problems other than the usual database issues that a developer or DBA comes up against on a daily basis.

  ### 11. Good tool but could be better

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Himanshu R. | Digital Success Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The power of the tool. It could be considered a tool that can look primitive but has enough power.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The User interface is not as appealing as it should be. Also, it is far behind the competition. Also, it is a bit heavy on system.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving Database related issues.

  ### 12. DBvis is my goto database tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

That it works for every database on every operating system

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

not much, sometimes java install can be a little tricky on OSX

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All software construction and troubleshooting

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi there,

Thank you for your review! We appreciate the feedback.

  ### 13. Easy to use with lots of features and support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael T. | Data Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVis makes it easy to import and export files, use variable and any other feature you can think of.
You don't have to worry about losing your queries with the auto-recover feature that re-opens DBVis with all your work that was left open, very helpful when Windows Updates occur when you are not expecting them.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I haven't had any real issues using DbVis. One thing I change from default is the maximum heap size allocation but I don't think I would call that an issue.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

I would highly recommend using DbVisualizer. It is an easy to use tool that can do it all.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DBVis has helped solved lots of issues, such as using the DBVisCMD component to run multiple/parallel queries.
Some of the major benefits I've found is how quick and easy it is to see table sizes, use the portal to tune queries and see what's going on behind the scenes.

  ### 14. Excellent one-stop-shop when working with software development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael K. | Software Development, Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVisualizer gives me quick, comprehensive and unified access to the various databases I work with during software development. With DbVisualizer I can use a single tool, no matter make or flavour of database. This has been so useful to me as a software developer that I have added DbVisualizer to my permanent private "toolbox" as a software development consultant.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

As I carry the cost for my DbVisualizer Pro license personally, I like to see a price model that grants some discount to personal professional users, as opposed to enterprise professional licences, that have an easier time to carry such a cost.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DbVisualizer to grant me a unified view and editing capability of various databases that I work with during software development. It may seem banal, but the intuitive and user-friendly click & edit & save mode of working, makes DbVisualizer stand out over the proprietary tools.

  ### 15. Best Multi-Vendor Multi-Platform Database Tool in existence.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen A. | Principle Software Engineer: Frameworks, App Security and some DevOps, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The fact that it is multi-platform and multi-vendor as that's always been a large part of my job. I must have owned this tool for 15 years or something like that. I can't even recall.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

My only quibble, frankly, is that it still does not run on > JDK 11. It seems to want to run JDK 8 which is deprecated due to security concerns. They need to be cognizant that older JDK's are being eliminated from most desktops in the enterprise for good reason.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Rather than use several vendor-specific tools to manage several vendor-specific relational databases on multiple operating systems, simply use DbVisualizer.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basic queries and analysis. I also like to produce diagrams of the schemas. One feature I love is being to edit a result line and save that rather than going through the laborious process of producing an update/insert statement.

When you are a developer you need decent access to multiple databases and vendor databases. Having that in one tool is also excellent. I go between PostgreSQL, SQLServer, and Oracle all the time simultaneously.

  ### 16. All in one

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael W. | IT Security Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Handles everything I need all from one place.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Nothing! Well maybe it doesn't have all the built in niceties of MSSQLMS but I'm sure with some more MSSQL background I could figure out the alternatives.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Solid product. Very flexible.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need data from a number of different places and types of DBMS'. DbVis has handled everything I need without fuss.

  ### 17. Great all-purpose database development and operations tool for many different DB flavors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew B. | Production Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVisualizer allows me to connect to all of the databases I use with one tool and to work with them efficiently both from a development and operations perspective. Not having to remember the peculiarities of many different tools to access different DB flavors is of great benefit.

The tool also succeeds in non-functional areas I find important, such as being able to install and/or run without requiring administrator privileges on Windows. Once installed, it can also be upgraded without admin privileges.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Dealing with very large datasets (millions of rows) can sometimes be a struggle and this seems commensurate with available RAM; however, I recognize that a desktop tool is often not the right tool for that kind of analysis.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work with Oracle, SQL Server, and Hive on a regular basis. DbVisualizer allows me to work with all three without having to worry about which tool I need to use, and the efficiencies of only having to learn one tool are significant. Further, if I need to create local data for offline analysis, I can do this with its support for SQLite. I feel fairly confident that it will support any database I need to work with as long as a JDBC driver is available.

  ### 18. Long-time User

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh M. | VP of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I love the ability to manage many different RDBMSs from the same interface, as well as the ability to generate diagrams and models from existing databases. There are tons of great features, but those two in particular are my favorites. It also does a really nice job of maintaining history in case you forget to save something that was useful.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It's a Java application, and with that comes some memory management issues from time-to-time. There's a nice garbage collection button in the lower-right, but it's annoying that I have to use it at all. Also, given the aforementioned, the UI isn't as smooth and polished as you may find with other tools. However, compared with other RDBMS tools in this space, the UI isn't bad. It looks dated, but so does everything else for managing databases. It's a utilitarian tool though, so it's not something I care about that much. I do with it had dark mode, but I'll survive without it.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

It's a great tool. You can find others that are free, but they're not nearly as feature-rich. You can also find others that are paid (e.g.: Aqua Data Studio) but, in my experience, they're not as easy-to-use or are missing features that DB Visualizer provides.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DBVisualizer for all sorts of tasks, from managing and maintaining production Postgres databases to connecting and managing local and containerized databases. I also occasionally help do some maintenance for others who have Microsoft SQL Server databases, MySQL databases, etc. and it's nice to be able to do all of that from one tool.

  ### 19. DbVisualizer is a great tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian B. | Senior GIS Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Excellent user interface and easy to use. It's also easy to save and load queries.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Sometimes a query will overload it, and the software will lock up.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

It works great.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Querying many different databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, SQLite - it handles everything.

  ### 20. Can't do my job without it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex G. | Principal Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Hybrid space for all database things. A highly customizable tool that allows you to get productive in no time regardless of the RDBMS.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Not much to dislike! If I have to be super picky, I would say that it will be great if it initializes a little bit faster.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a Business Intelligence Consultant, I use DbVisualizer daily to explore and code solutions, regardless of the source systems or targets.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi Alex,

Thank you for your review of DbVisualizer!

  ### 21. DBVisualizer after 1 year

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Human Resources | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

As a mac user, it had fewer interface issues than its leading competition. Although the other product was free, the improvements of the DBVisualizer in the Mac environment is enough to justify the costt.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

While I do like the product, there are a few areas in which it could significantly improve:
1) the import table feature is pretty clunky and very picky. Things that could be handled programmatically like dealing with special characters or spaces in field names pulled from the source are a pain. Data type forcing of the source data is also a problem and source of frustration when you are trying to import a table with 40 rows. Would make it easier to not force the data type of the source data and to either ignore the value or omit it when importing if it doesn't adhere to the destination field setting.

2) While minor, the file picker is very dated and unwieldy at least on the mac.

3) It seems to freeze relatively often requiring you to wait 30-90 seconds before you can do anything. This often happens when just opening a new tab regardless of whether that tab is presenting alot or a little data.

4) Any manual data updates are applied very slowly. Deleting 100 records from the data view of a table for example may take 30 seconds, when a script doing the same takes .3 seconds.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

DBV is definitely a good option to consider for access, management, and development within various database platforms.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this interface to build a complete and custom workflow platform. i come from 20 years working with Microsoft SQL Server. While this product isn't at that level, it is much more flexible and reasonable for a small business.

  ### 22. If you're more of a visual learner this is a great tool to paint an understandable view of your DB.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dakotah M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The "Open Visible as Spreadsheet" feature is very useful.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The auto-completion feature needs some work when writing SQL in the Commander Tab. Hitting the enter key auto selects the first suggestion. This makes creating new lines a pain since you have to escape the prediction before hitting enter. The setting I'm referring to is in Preferences > SQL Commander > Auto Completion > Auto Completion Popup List > Display Automatically. In my IDE you have to arrow down to a suggestion before the enter key will commit. Maybe there's a trick to this that I'm blind to. Other than this hiccup the auto completion feature makes writing a query much faster.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Give the trial version a shot, it's definitely a step up from writing in your shell.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At our company we manage over 600 tables. Having a visual into these tables and their relations is very helpful for me at least as I'm more of a visual programmer. We are often asked to pull custom reports, the "Open Visible as Spreadsheet" feature has been very useful. I'm sure there are a grip of awesome features that I haven't explored yet. It's always fun to find something new that saves time.

  ### 23. It is well aligned with all type of Databases and very convenient to developers.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Textiles | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Porting from Excel to Database is my one of the best experience.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

There is no specific reasons to dislike.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bulk uploading of data and schema browser is a very useful feature.

  ### 24. It does everything I need it to

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew G. | Customer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The ability to have 3 different connection types active at once. It makes switching database easy.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Specific to my system, the inability to upgrade as it 'cannot access servers'. However I've not tried to fix this either as it's not really an issue.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Try it out. It's a great program and does everything I've needed it to.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

General data lockups and management. Benefits include not having to switch programs when switching databases, and a custom ability to share scripts throughout our organization due to some fancy programming by another.

  ### 25. Most Useful Working Across Multiple Platforms, One Interface

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephen U. | Managing Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Having only to have to learn & use one tool across multiple database platforms is the key benefit of DbVisualizer. Once you master the application for basic database work, you also find that there are many tools available that again work across all databases.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

That the export feature is limited by the Max Rows and if this isn't set to more than the number of records expecting to be exported, the extract gets truncated. The Export functionshould export all results regardless of the parameter set in the GUI.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem solved is not having to learn lots of SQL as there are many built in tools to drop tables, import, export, truncate, etc.

  ### 26. Excellent

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alberto Julio Y. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The ease of connection to different hosts and the quick and efficient possibility of generating queries and/or modifications to the data model. Excellent product, everything I need to work with multiple databases from different products and clients. Very well organized and the interface is very clear. The query history is very good.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

"It should be easier to be able to make a backup of a database engine and restore it on another server, since for developers like me, it is a very common task."

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Excellent tool for application development with multiple databases, testing data models, testing applications. Missing an effective database backup and restoration tool on another host, a very common task in the developer environment.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Modifications to the data model, hot data modification when the application generates an error. Data entry when the application is not yet available and being able to do testing. Data validation. Application testing. The benefits are being able to solve customer problems quickly and effectively, regardless of physical location. Detecting bugs in applications by verifying the data model or the writing of the SQL statement, which often depends on the database engine.

  ### 27. Very nice! fast and sweet.

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Fast to change connection between database. showing results number and the time spend for my queries. Editing data has never been easier. Getting DbVisualiser increased our production time by getting all information needed much more quickly!

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Some version are slower and some time I am loosing connection to the database(I need to click on reconnect, that's it...) but it's probably the configuration of the server. The other thing it's the driver for informix ibm needed to be installed manually on the computer, it doesn't come by default. The licensing was very dispointing 7 years ago, but like other things they just improve it, it's now fine!

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

I really recommend DbVisualizer to everyone playing with queries and data!! I really appreciate it.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fast access to everything needed : data, column, table, procedure, function, etc
It is much more easier than always looking in schemas and files to get the information requested.
Everyday i'm using DbVisualizer and always love it.

  ### 28. The DB tool for cross platform development work.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel F. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DB visualizer has been the tool best suited for working within mixed data platform environments without having to manage different clients for different data platforms.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

At times DB Visualizer can be a bit sluggish when working with larger datasets and the 'intelligence' is not consistent across data platforms.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

I cannot stress it enough about the productivity gains made using DB Visualizer. This is a rare piece of software that makes most os the data platform clients redundant while also providing a productive and consistent user interface. This might seem 'sales-y' but it is the truth.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having worked across a multitude of data platforms across the years, each data platform usually has its own set of client tools to administrate, interact and develop with. The main problem is that there is an inconsistent experience with the multitude of clients.

DB Visualizer solves the problem of multiple clients for multiple databases by presenting a consistent interface that works across the majority of DB platforms. It is usually predictable with the way that a developer works with the backend database with minor glitches.

  ### 29. Very good database client to work with MySQL and PostgreSQL

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolina L. | Desarrollador sénior, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I started using DbVisualizer at first as it has a free version. I have been using it for some time to work on MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. I like it because it is very balanced in CPU and memory usage. Its graphical interface is very simple and it is very fast to execute the queries against the databases.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

At the moment, we are only using the free version, so we cannot edit data in the database tables.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

I would like to recommend this tool because it is very easy to use compared to other programs. Also, it is a database client that easily executes queries and can read errors.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using DbVisualizer to work with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, where we have to make regular queries about our APIs in production and create reports on their correct operation. This software is free, which I consider to be its greatest benefit.

  ### 30. Db Visualizer, The Essential Tool To Work In Multiple Database Environments

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan H. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The ability to connect to multiple database types, multiple database connections per database, it's flexibility and ease of use, and access to all database components in an intuitive manner. When support is required, which is seldom, quick and meaningful responses are received.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Sometimes preferences are lost and need to be re-entered. Otherwise, I would like to see an ability to click on an error and see where that error is in the script being run.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am administering MySQL and SQL Server databases in multiple environments (development, staging, and production). Defining and duplicating connections is easy and can be grouped into folders for a clear organization of which one I am working with. Running SQL queries and commands is easy. Importing and exporting is a snap. The tool has a set of other tools to make working with databases extremely easy.

  ### 31. DB Visualizer Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ernesto G. | SYSADMIN, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Unify access to various DBMS and unit

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Query interface and lack of information in some tasks like the alter table

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Priced affordably and very useful for working simultaneously with multiple data systems in the same session and a single application.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Save queries between sessions to access data from different servers

  ### 32. It works like a charm

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** José L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It has a nice and intuitive interface that allows me to work with different database servers using common commands. For example, if you need to export a table, you can use the same graphical interface or the same command line, (@export) whatever you are working with Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL or MariaDB.

It is a reliable and user-friendly tool for the SQL and PL/SQL - T-SQL developer, and also for the DBA. At least, It includes common administration features for the engines I just mentioned, so, again, I only need one interface for doing my job whatever engine I'm working on.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Although it includes a lot of administration features, it misses some, and so I need to perform those tasks on the tool developed by the database manufacturer. I'm referring to a graphical interface, because DBVisualizer allows you to execute any SQL script, and include variables that allow you to automatize those repetitive tasks. And you don't have to worry if the variables are defined with "&", "$" or ":", because you can also use the DBVisualizer syntax for variables, that works for all engines and is very flexible.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Install and try it.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I teach and use 3 database engines, it is the perfect tool to switch among them. I use it for SQL, PL-SQL and T-SQL development. I also use it in my common DBA tasks, either through graphical interface or by SQL script. It is reliable and I trust in its results.

  ### 33. One of the best SQL clients: efficient, reliable and user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ross A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Developed in Java, which makes it very easy to install and run on different OSs, as well as customize the configuration for your best fit. Supports a wide range of SQL based databases, via JDBC drivers, including all major ones: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgresSQL, etc.

Great export options for your data and database schema, as well as support for BLOB nd CLOB.

Explain Plan works really well and provides very useful information when you need to to analyze and tune up your queries.

Here is a link with detailed list of all features for the free and pro versions:
https://www.dbvis.com/features/feature-list/

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Personally, I have an issue with how the the Find/Search was designed and implemented. I don't find it intuitive and continue to have trouble searching in the SQL Commander tab among multiple queries.

The license pricing is another issue. This tool is probably one of the more expensive on the market, but luckily discounts are offered for non-profit and educational organizations like ours.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use DbVisualizer for SQL analysis and development, including imports and exports.

The most important benefit is the ability to have one tool able to access our different databases and uniformly display the schema structures. The tool provides very easy access to all schema objects and the ability to view the DDL and to review update stored procedures, functions, views, etc.

  ### 34. The DBA's Swiss Army Knife

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael L. | Owner, Director of Managed Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVis has an excellent table/query browser with advanced display, export, filtering capability, a powerful table editor, great transaction control, great import capabilities, and tools to navigate physical database structure. One can "sling" data between databases of varying types with ease, even LARGE data sets, if necessary. It's not an ETL tool. It is a practical DBA's Swiss Army knife. The DBA functionality per-database vendor is handy.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

SQL Editor tab management is a bit clunky. I would love to be able to create "throw-away" SQL Editor tabs easily. So if I close DbVis I don't want to be prompted about saving them, and I don't want them restored.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

If you dig into Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL, and other databases regularly, this tool is for you!

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DbVis is critical for daily DBA troubleshooting. As a DBA for many clients on 5 different database vendors, Kettle River relies on DbVisualizer to "surf" databases to troubleshoot and repair problems. Data can be "slurped" between tables, hosts, and completely different vendors with ease. Also has some very simple to use graphing powers that can quickly help a client visualize their issues.

  ### 35. Best DB client ever!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The interface is elegant, everything is so simple to understand and explore.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It's a bit memory intensive, but that's manageable

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am accessing databases for data loading, exploration, and analysis.

  ### 36. For me the most intuitive database tool around

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The UI is simple, yet everything you need is there or can be found with little effort. All connections can be structured well and configured to what I need and how I like it. Looking through databases, peeking around or quickly changing a value is just straight forward. Open SQL tabs with queries stay around even if you don't save them. For me as a middle ware developer the balance of depth into databases and ease of use is just perfect.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I think the navigation and double clicking, clicking on icons or the labels of those icons might not always be obvious. I got used to them but finding these options may puzzle you sometimes.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maintaining a list of database connections (from localhost, to test, to pre-prod, to production) to look into data, analyse issues by querying around, local development and preview of schema changes. Generally to quickly access data.

  ### 37. Make connections to different database drivers with DbVisualizer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alberto D. | Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVisualizer is a tool that supports different database drivers such as MySQL, Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL and that is one of its advantages. One of its advantages is that it has a totally free license where you can carry out most important operations in a database. It is possible to export databases to different files (.sql, xml, html, csv, among others).

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I have never had a problem when I find myself using DbVisualizer. The only thing I dislike is that the software is only in English and cannot be translated into other languages.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

DbVisualizer is attractive, complete and free software. Of course I would recommend it, since it is not very common to find programs as good as this one.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software is very useful to me for the synchronization between data and schemas of our organization's databases. Also, I can manipulate different database drivers simultaneously. Another advantage that DbVisualizer gives me is that I can export databases to different types of files, so that it is not difficult to import data into other programs.

  ### 38. Great at what it's good at, clunky where it's not

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaden M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The wizard is awesome, and it takes no time at all to set up ssh tunnels and connect to databases. The side bar navigator is fast and easy to use. The commit and rollback buttons are right where you'd expect and it is all really smooth.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The auto complete feature is really the only problem I have with it. Turning on auto display is terrible as it is always in the way, seeing a show delay is even worse because it adds things to the query you weren't even expecting. I finally just started using the hot keys to call it and that is the best so far, but there is room for improvement for sure

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

I have tried 5 other db told and this has been the best by far

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love the visibility it gives to my data. It makes it easier to structure

  ### 39. > 20 year with DbVisualizer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** CESAR O. | Data Analysis, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Stability, lot of functionalities, versioning, support

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

sometimes memory crash (very rare); auto-completion to improve

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

DbVisualizer is a very experienced product, that I'am using in a daily basis for 20 year

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

access to several databases: oracle, postgresql, sqlserver

  ### 40. Works across multiple database types

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVisualizer works across different database systems and OS's with the same interface. The core functionality works reliably, as well as lots of nice little features, like a history of queries you've run, visually exploring relationships, etc.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It's a java based tool, so you can come across memory issues when trying to pull large results. Would be nice if it was cheaper as well :).

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Install a demo version and try it out.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use to connect our different database systems, Redshift and MariaDB, DbVisualizer allows us to do this with a single tool while also being intuitive to use.

  ### 41. occasional db user

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I have mainly used dbvis to explore and update database tables in oracle and postgresql across multiple systems for many years, while writing or updating code. It's a quick and easy way to examine records and occasionally make quick changes. It also has a nice gui that leads you through building sql statements to alter properties.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I think there is some room for improving the help/assistance in things like granting permissions and updating views.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

It's really easy to use, and a quick way to look through db tables, and even update them.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I generally end up using it when working on programs to test queries, updates, and alter tables. I don't use it all the time, but when I need to see how something will come out, it's been really easy to use.

  ### 42. Fantastic and incredibly easy to use!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan G. | Freelance Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The software is so clean and easy to use. Very comprehensive, complete access, and decluttered access to the databases I'm using. It's very easy to use and organized which is a huge benefit.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Auto-completion could use some tweeks, but overall the program does exactly what I need it to do.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working at a company that manages 100's of tables. Having a way to visualize these tables and the relationships is very helpful for me.

  ### 43. A Great Multi-Purpose SQL Editor and Database Management Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

After years in the early part of my career using SQL Management Studio and editors such as Toad, I found the interface of DB Visualizer very familiar and easy to navigate. Very infrequently does it take me long to find the features that I'm searching for due to the intuitive nature of the UI. I'm continually impressed by not only the completeness of the tools available for each DB technology, but the intuitive nature of using them. I haven't found a lot of use cases where it was not an appropriate tool for me to use in order to meet my needs.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The sync between your SQL Commanders and the open connections can be a little flakey and sometimes your SQL window will lose track with the state of a given connection. As a result, even if you re-establish the connection itself, you have to close the SQL Commander window and start over. It's not a huge deal, just an annoyance that almost never happens at a good time. There are also some memory management issues, such as when you accidentally pull back a very large record set. Under the wrong circumstances it can paralyze your entire system and prevent you from being able to halt the query process. In these cases you either have to wait (sometimes a very long time) for the client to fail or restart your machine. This doesn't happen often, but it's something that has happened to me in the past.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

DB Visualizer is a versatile, familiar and powerful SQL editor and database administration tool.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been using DB Visualizer for the better part of the last 8 years and various companies and in various capacities. I use it pretty much every day for everything from simple queries against the databases in my various environments and technologies, to building complex SQL applications, doing query tuning, managing users and permissions and simply formatting my SQL when it's time for deployment. It's a very flexible tool.

  ### 44. The best allround SQL tool there is!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorn V. | Business Owner - Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It is the best tool for both Mac and Windows, having a connection to every single database there is.
Whether you need to connect to a plain SQL Server, an AS400 or something really exotic, DBVis can do it. With a bit of luck the database driver is even distributed within the tool, otherwise it can be downloaded from the net or the community will help you in finding the right drivers.
The possibility of having multiple screens open, pin the result of a certain query is making the investment worth.

Just 5 strong points in a row:
* access to any database via open JDBC drivers (many drivers included in tool)
* grouping of database connections
* pin a result or a query to get easy acces to previous results or queries
* better overview than in many native SQL tools (e.g. SQL Server management studio)
* multi connections in professional version (paid option, but worth paying for)

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Once you start using it, you will be addicted to it...

I haven't found a single thing this I really dislike.
Sometimes there are some difficulties in connecting to a SQL Server engine with Windows authentication, but that is more due to the database set-up than to DBVis...

Another downside is that there is still no iPad client available. That would really rock the tool.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

You can get the free version to try it out and see if you like it or not. Only a single connection is allowed within the free version.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The real benefit is that I have been able to use my Mac as a native querying machine, and there is no need anymore to run a virtual Windows machine on a Mac.
Offering both Windows and Mac support has made it possible for all my colleagues to use DBVIS, whether they prefer a Windows, Mac or Linux machine.

The openness of DB Visualizer is the next big thing: as an external Business Analist I'm regularly confronted with the most exotic databases there exist. DB Visualizer can handle them all, and I'm able to easily group them in a folder per customer.

  ### 45. DbVisualizer is easy to use, easy to navigate and is a very effective db tool.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Landon F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The layout of the view is easily customized. Building queries with the query builder is easy to use. I can easily manage multiple databases. I do not run into issues when using this program that delay workflow or productivity. It is very nicely compatible with Mac OS.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Very small things here. The application isn't as instinctual as more modern products, some things like running a filter on a table by pressing the enter key or auto connecting when I run a query and it isn't connected to the db would be a nice touch.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

If you're looking for an easy to use database product, check out DbVisualizer.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DbVisualizer is great for cross checking and making auto generated db queries more efficient by using the query builder to design queries. I have been able to improve tools that read database data by picking apart queries with this tool.

  ### 46. DbVisualizer helps me to be more productive and it makes easier my tasks that involves database.

Some updates doesn't work on Mac IOS. The windows get's stuck

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

I do recomend!

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some configuration and updates to the database that I need to do to the applications that I handle.

  ### 47. DB visualiser has been a fantastic introduction to database queries for me

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rhea M. | Customer Support, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have realised I can use DB visualiser to match databases from different source systems

  ### 48. Long term User of DbVisualizer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVisualizer is cross platform and and allows me to use it on my Mac, Linux or windows VM's. It allows me to have one DB tool that I can use across all the database types that I may work with. I also have used the command line interface to automate tasks moving data between disparate databases which has been very useful and extremely reliable.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I have not found any downsides of using DbVisualizer

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

DbVisualizer is a fantastic product that I have used for over 15 years, and improves every year. Support has always been excellent with a rapid response to any query I have had. It will remain a part of my personal toolkit.

The only improvement I would like would be a version for iOS for the iPad.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DbVisualizer to move data between different databases and versions for clients, example migrating data between ERP systems.
I use it to manage databases on remote servers using SSH to access databases that are restricted to local access, bespoke or standard solutions.
I use DbVisualizer to construct and test queries before building them into various reporting tools.
Having one tool that allows me to access multiple databases of different types for example DB2, Postgresql, MySQL, SQL Server saves so much time.

  ### 49. From one tool you can access any database using any OS.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

That I can use any OS to connect to any database, and I have the same UI.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Still, some of the DBA tasks I could not do via DbViz.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our pressing, we are exporting lots of data to our customers, and we are using the DbVis export featires.

  ### 50. DbVis is a great stable product we have used for years.

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The internal SMEs here love working with this product. When they ask me to renew it for them, your customer service has always been great and you provide quotes on time. The license install is an easy- to-manage process with a great, descriptive email giving instructions.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

There is nothing that I dislike about the product.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believe our developers use this tool with their databases
