## DaVinci Resolve Reviews
  ### 1. The best option today for color correction and grading

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mariana F. | Executive Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Davinci Resolve has become the best and most complete color correction and color grading solution today, without a doubt.
Despite using it mainly for this, the program still has several tools for editing video, sound, and visual effects.
The interface, although relatively complex, is well organized, and the export options are complete.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

It has a somewhat scary UI when first seen due to the vast amount of menus and tabs.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Today all videos that are exported from Adobe Premiere are corrected and colorized in Davinci Resolve.
Sometimes we use it for more complex keying and masking operations because of the more advanced AI than After Effects and Premiere Pro.

  ### 2. More than just a color grading software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ollie T. | IT Manager, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

It's the best video editor I've ever used hands down. While it's known for its color grading ability, don't sleep on everything else you can do as well. From cutting, special effects, and even a complete audio editing suite, Davinci Resolve is THE one stop video creation dream.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

If you truly want to use it to it's full capacity, you need to make sure your computer has a little horse power behind it. The more RAM the better, and a decent video card wouldn't hurt either.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Grab the free version and give it a shot. There are hundreds of YouTube videos to walk you through any questions you might have.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Even with the free version I'm able to take most any video and make it into something worth viewing.

  ### 3. Best Pro Video Editing Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2022

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The software has all important pro tools that a person needs to make a great video. The interface is beautiful, and it's close to other similar softwares which makes it easy to get used to it.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The video player is not perfect, sometimes freezes.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's better than premiere pro and much easier to use.

  ### 4. Professional tools for the beginning vlogger to the expert editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elijah N. | Private Music Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

As an audio engineer firstly, I really appreciate having access to my tools for mixing audio and editing tracks. The tabbed window system works really well for switching between multiple workflow types without cluttering your monitor with things you're not activiely using. Getting a video edited quickly is important to me and Resolve is very simple to use.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

I still do not like having to open extra windows in order to reorder audio plugins. Adding more drag and drop functionality and a larger fader area would help to mix more quickly.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Test your workflow with the free version of the software before deciding to buy the full studio version. Also, consider buying one of their cameras if you need one as they include a free license for their full version with their equipment.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having one piece of software to organize, edit and color video as well as mix down audio, add foley and record ADR without exporting to other software.

  ### 5. Professiona Tool for Editors.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav R. | Senior Sales Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The Interface is nice. There are lots of tools integrated into this application, so I would say It is all in one application for your animation, titles for your videos, and most importantly, color grading.
This application can do 3d tracking natively you don't require additional software. This application is easy to understand and every step that is done while editing has it own dedicated tab like cut, importing footage, color etc. which makes it really easy and every tool related to that step changes as you go to the next step. It can handle 4k, 8k fotages. It is optimised for both Windows, Macs. they also support Mac M1 chips so which is a huge plus point. This application is also used by hollywood editors and has both the free as well as paid version of their software.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The free version can edit 4k as well as 8K footage but can only export in 1080P which is the thing that I would like to see changed in near future but if you are exporting and shooting videos in 1080P then it is not even a problem. Other than this everything is flawless.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

For all does who want to go into editing or colour grading, it is a great option. And those who want to switch from Premier Pro it will take some time to getting used to the process as Premier is layer based and this appliocation is node based. there is a learning curve to it but once you master this you will never go back.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this software for editing my drone as well as Log footage for my projects as I am a freelancer filmmaker.

  ### 6. Davinci Resolve is the best tool I've ever used for video

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hans S. | Director of Enrollment Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The best thing about Davinci Resolve is the integrated workflow that allows the user to collect, trim, edit, composite, add effects and color and sound-design all in one platform, with surprising ease.

The editing tools are fast and intuitive and allow for surprisingly fast editing.

The color-editing capabilities in Resolve are industry-standard and relatively intuitive to use, and elevates the quality of video significantly.

Additionally, the free tier is surprisingly full-featured and allows users to truly test whether Resolve will meet their needs.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Not much. Some keyboard shortcuts and mouse commands are counterintuitive, at first, and it takes time to get to know the software. It's hard to zoom in on a timeline. Sometimes positioning clips on timelines can be clunky and slow down editing. And, as one might expect, it's CPU-heavy, especially in the Fusion tab. Finally, while I appreciate the inclusion, I have never enjoyed using Fairlight, the integrated audio program. It's convenient, and useful for small tasks, but seems to me to be the only element of Fusion that can't compete with dedicated competitors.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

If you're not familiar with any video production platform, I'd recommend just installing DaVinci Resolve and never looking back. For the price point, it's been my best experience with a platform by far. Only look for a different platform if you discover after a significant amount of time that you can't acclimate to Resolve.

For users of other platforms: download the free version of Resolve and use it for long enough to adjust to Resolve's workflow versus your other platform. If you decide, in the end, to keep your existing solution, you won't have spent any money on finding out, and I think there's a substantial chance that you'll discover that you prefer Resolve to your previous solution.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DaVinci Resolve extends our ability to create videos quickly and efficiently in a cost-effective way. Unlike other tools with extremely high prices or ongoing subscriptions, some of our employees who work with video occasionally, rather than constantly, can use the free tier of Resolve to produce high quality video quickly.

  ### 7. Free and Powerful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

This program is super powerful for something free! There's color correction, audio cleanup, basic editing and some sort of effects window (think After Effects). And you only have to pay if you want to output in 4K (if you're doing internet stuff, you'll be fine with 1080p from what I hear).

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

My current computer isn't super powerful. And that's a problem for Resolve apparently. So I have to borrow a friend's gaming laptop for editing until I can save up enough to get something similar. If you have a computer powerful enough, you won't have this problem.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

If you have to build or buy something beefy that can run this, go with a higher end "gaming build". The resources needed for both are pretty similar.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to clean, process, and export videos without having to pay $700+ a year, which I'd be paying to go with Adobe Creative Suite. And if we did pay for the 4K upgrade, it sounds like a one-time fee.

  ### 8. A great change from Adobe Premiere and Final Cut

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

What stands out for me is the ability to tap on my GPU for better performance, it's cost-effectiveness (I recently purchased a BMPCC 4k, which meant the full version came with it for free!), and that all of the tools I would have to pay for in addition to Premiere (Like Aftereffects and Audition) all are a part of the program. Also, it has some of the best Color-correction tools in the industry, so that's pretty great too!

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

It does have a bit of a learning curve to it (I've used AVID, Premiere and FCP, so the transition wasn't too bad) - to tie into this, there isn't a huge amount of resources available online, like Adobe has with Premiere, so if something isn't working right and no one has found the correct fix for it yet, I may be SOL.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

If you are considering using DaVinci Resolve to Edit, make sure you not only have a strong CPU, but also a powerful GPU to take full advantage of their software package and their GPU enhanced editing processees.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I recently started a new business, and part of what is making the business work is the fact that I was able to get a super-affordable 4K cinema camera (the BMPCC 4K) and free, high-level editing software. After relying on company or industry rental equipment, it was nice to be able to afford and leverage my own equipment for my new venture, and since BlackMagic makes it so accessable for new filmmakers/producers, I can't help but say that this is helping me tremendously.

  ### 9. Eye opener

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2022

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The best about this app is that it is easy to learn how to the users the features. I loved how it different clips without cutting them and how it works adding new media to the folders

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

I was hoping that there would be more on the lesson on how to use the different features that it has to offer. Also, I don't like how the updates are done it. I wished it was able to auto-update

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem that we have is one of the costs for the other brands. Other software that is good is too expensive for us to buy at the current cost.

  ### 10. Video editing like a Pro

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David I. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The precision video editing features surpass any other editor I have previously used, with the added bonus that it is free.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The mechanical precision of the user interface can be intimidating to individuals new to video editing, I wouldn't recommend for the beginner.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am creating video content for my youtube channel.

  ### 11. Best video editor & excelent price-quality

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fernando S. | Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Fastest video editor with high-end results.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The video stabilization should improve for hyperlapses (is worst than Premiere Pro :,( )

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

If you need to edit professional videos and do it fast, DaVinci Resolve is the best choice! BTW: I highly recommend buying DaVinci Resolve Studio to be able to use deflicker.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Premiere Pro is a too slow video editor and doesn't have a deflicker.

  ### 12. Very professionla and user friendly software.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ali Rıza . | Cofounder / Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2022

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

It is a very professional editing program that easy to use and free.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

There is bug that sometimes i ned to reenter program to open.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing videos professionally and editing.

  ### 13. Finally, an integrated platform for editing, effects, color correction and audio

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason H. | PACS Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Finally, I have a program that I can perform all of my video content creation tasks without having to bounce between multiple programs and paying a massive subscription. The media ingestion and editing platform is easy to use and easy to transition to for Premiere users like me. The color correction is second to none, and the price can't be beaten. Rendering is also a joy, and runs faster than Adobe. I've found that Davinci Resolve is much more forgiving and accepting of less expensive hardware setups and behaves much better with my AMD graphics card than Adobe products ever have.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The learning curve for Fusion, the Davinci alternative to After Effects, is pretty high for anyone who studied at the School of Adobe. I understand the concept, with everything working in almost a flowchart kind of way, but I've yet to grasp its potential fully, and I'm afraid I never will entirely. Audio editing in Fairlight is also one of the weaker areas, especially coming from Adobe Audition. I feel that it is designed more for mixing rather than basic audio editing. Thankfully there are other tools available that I can use as an alternative.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Davinci Resolve has become my team's primary platform for digital production and is currently being used on our next feature-length documentary. I've also saved a large amount of money since I no longer subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud for my video editing needs. The easy integration with Blackmagic Design cameras has solved many issues I've had with color correction, greatly increasing my speed and picture quality.

  ### 14. Amazingly powerful app in a free package with options to upgrade

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wayne K. | Photographer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

DaVinci Resolve is stunningly powerful. From intuitive timeline editing to advanced color grading and sound design options, this app has it all.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Any powerful software application has a fairly steep learning curve to exploit its potential truly. Davinci Resolve is no different. However, there is a wealth of free tutorials available online.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Take your time getting to know all of the features. It's a steep learning curve but well worth the time investment.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cropping for mobile phone aspect ratios is extremely simple. I also like the way keystone frames have been implemented to automate parameters and settings.

  ### 15. The industry standard for color grading, and it does so much more now.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Resolve is an amazing piece of software. The best color correction and color grading program out there is now even better. First, they offer most of the program's functions for free in their free version. You can do almost anything you need for a small production or anything requiring a large team. For projects that do, the studio version is the way to go, and the one-time affordable pricing makes it a no-brainer. They have added many new features that now position it as a great video editing program as well. Plus, visual effects and audio. You can not go wrong.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

There aren't any downsides that I can think of. It is an excellent piece of software.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Use a great graphics card as most processing, rendering and transcoding uses the GPU instead of the CPU.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The suite of functions helps me with all facets of production. I mainly use it for color grading and correcting. The node-based system is very intuitive and allows for the most precise control imaginable over your footage. The tracking it uses for masks is incredible!

  ### 16. Great video editing application

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The software contains a lot of features which covers all my needs for video editing. It is relatively easy to understand. Luckily there are a lot of good instruction videos on Youtube to get to know the software.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

I've noticed that the software requires a lot of computer resources (memory and CPU). Editing a small video of 5 minutes required 2,5 GB of RAM.

I also experience som bugs like "Medium Unavailale" when rendering the video. It should be some kind of functionality to validate the video before it is rendered.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

The software is very good, but make sure that you have a PC with a lot of CPU and RAM.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is great for creating Youtube videos. The software is very comprehensive, but OK to use for beginners.

  ### 17. Best Free Video Editing App

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paryush J. | Associate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The best part of Da Vinci resolve is it provides the Adobe Premier Pro like features for absolutely free. It is best for people you are just started with content creation.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

So far I have not disliked anything. You cannot ask for anything more for free.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being new to video editing and having no budget to purchase paid applications. Da Vinci solves all my problems as it is free of cost and provides almost all the features of any paid apps.

  ### 18. Best for colour correction and video editing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vansh S. | FX TD, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

I like the color correction is the best for all the purpose.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

There is nothing to dislike as I didn't face any problem.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Must give a try to this amazing software, it is easy to use and the best about this software is the colour correction and video editing. Give it a try.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems related to video editing and color correction of a video. I must mention that Davinci is the best for color correction , you must try.

  ### 19. the best software with a complete suite of edit, color grade and sound

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

complete suite everything in the same suite, edit, color and sound

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Nothing I like everything in the suite but maybe the fusion tab is not easy to understand

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the benefit of edit and color grade in the same suite has been a time saver and also a way to be more efficient

  ### 20. A great and complete free Video Editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis Enrique R. | Coordinador de Contenidos, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

DaVinci Resolve is a powerful and complete video editor, which, once you understand UI is very capable of meeting all your video editing needs and even make you forget about other options like Adobe Premiere or FinalCut.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Its learning curve could be a little bit steep, especially if you never had any previous experience in this program. But is nothing that you can´t solve with a few YouTube Tutorials.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Be cautious because it can be daunting, but there are a lot of tutorials on YouTube and thriving and helpful community on Reddit.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my job i had a Macbook Pro with ScreenFlow, which was my choice for light and simple video editing; but due to budget reasons they had to took it away from me and replace it with a PC; so, in searching for a free video editing option I stumble upon this and, after seeing a tutorial on youtube, started to using it to do simple editing and it worked charms. It has more options than ScreenFlow so I can be more creative.

  ### 21. Best editing software on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devin C. | Head of Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

There are so many things about DaVinci Resolve that I enjoy, it's tough to know where to begin. For starters, I'll say that I have in-depth and years of experience with many of the other competing applications that are available -- Final Cut, Premiere, Avid, Edius ... nothing comes close to Resolve. I love the seamless workflow integration. Being able to ingest, conform, cut, color, generate VFX and motion graphics, mix sound, and queue deliverables all within a single project is amazing. Every page (edit, color, fusion, Fairlight, etc) has the power and feel of it's own unique application, yet everything appears and functions in a uniform manner. Keeping everything inside the same project saves so much time and eliminates workflow headaches between departments. The power and control you have in the color grading tab is unmatched to other software. I've been using Resolve as my full-time NLE for a little over a year now and I'm so happy I made the switch.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

This might be just within my network, but I've found getting others to adopt the software has been a difficult challenge to overcome. I find most people can't be bothered to learn a new tool -- they would rather continue using something that is familiar to them even is it underperforms. Many of the complaints I hear from others are really frustrations that are sparked from incompetence. There is no hope in learning or enjoying a new application if the mindset to do so is not there to begin with. This isn't so much a dislike for the software itself, but it is something to keep in mind when adopting a Resolve workflow if you work with teams. Definitely expect resistance from some parties. If you stay the course, however, you WILL NOT be disappointed.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

If you're on the fence, dive in and give it a shot. You'll wonder why it took you so long.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly I have been able to solve workflow problems. By keeping projects entirely inside a single application, there are no issues in prepping a show for color, or for sound, or VFX, or anything else. Not having to generate XML's, AAF's, EDL's or anything else of the nature saves enormous amounts of time. When on tight deadlines, this can make all the difference.

  ### 22. DaVinci Resolve Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chaplain Tim "TIG" H. | Founder | Lead Chaplain, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

  ### 23. A no brainer - must have for every video / animation / effects person

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philemon D. | Assistant Professor, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Everything!! (I know, I usually don't say this. But I mean it.) It is awesome. Such a sophisticated software is free and the studio version is available for a small price - for life. No subscriptions like the Premier version.
The editing, effects, color correction and audio editing all in one software. There is no need to open any other.
The node editing feature will be the ultimate in the future and it is super intuitive.
They release regular upgrades and almost a version each year.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The learning curve is a bit long.
It takes some time to understand how each feature and tuning work.
For a regular person, some of the options are way too much. But yes, there is a free version.
It does not import all and any video formats.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love creating classy titles, adding special effects to the cartoon, animation to make characters and the story pop. It is way easier than adobe series to use.

  ### 24. High-end cool features for a fraction of the cost, great for beginners as well as professionals.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Edward F. | IT Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

It has all the cool features of high end video applications, but at a fraction of the cost. Integrates with all Black Magic hardware. Tons of online tutorials both by Black Magic as well as user-base.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The flexibility of the application has a logical counterpart: steep learning curve.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Understand the concepts and jargon of video editing first. I was not a videography expert, had some basic knowledge but knew what I needed to be able to to. DaVinci Resolve has all the features I needed and then some. In the end I started using more and more of the features and my creativity exploded. I'd recommend perusing the user-base and community tutorials.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are not into videography as our core-business. We needed, however, a tool to create instructional videos, both using screen recordings, screen captures as well as filmed speakers. Budget was tight, but with DaVinci Resolve we pulled it off. Been running it on Windows and Linux and soon will be running it on Mac.

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Free software with very advanced features that are usually found in paid software!

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

There is nothing that i dislike about this software

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Definitely consider this program as it is free and very high quality

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very good quality video editing without spending a penny. Works well on my macbook pro

  ### 26. Programmed by 2 year olds

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josiah S. | Exec. Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The chroma key feature works well. If there weren't so many enraging bugs, this could easily be a 5 star.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

There are several bugs but I'll mainly focus on this one in particular. My computer has no spec issues, and runs every single other video editing software in existence with perfect precision and speed. Davinci Resolve, on the other hand, crashes and closes the window out of absolutely nowhere for no reason, deleting all of the hours of work that I did since the last point that I saved. Sometimes it will even close while exporting a video, abandoning the rendering process altogether so that I have to start the export all over again. This has caused me to completely quit on projects that I've been working on because hours and hours of painstaking work has been randomly deleted for no reason because Davinci Resolve just decides to die out of nowhere. Enfuriating. No other video software does this so it's clearly a fixable issue.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None of my issues have been solved. The only benefit is full HD video exporting.

  ### 27. Amazing offering where novices start for free & they support them as they grow into pros.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh H. | CEO | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Coming from Avid & Adobe it's a bit of a different workflow, but the software runs great and is very fluid which is a nice change.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

I think just some differences in work flow has been the biggest hurdle but I am slowly learning to adjust.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Be open to learning a new workflow and things will make sense over time.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was tired of software that crashes and paying for software that gets more expensive with little real value being added. The change log of Resolve speaks for it's self and has enabled me to combine layers of content more easily.

I like whole of the softare as it fullfils my requirements. its fusion tab is just amazing as we can actually do anyhing over there and it has video properties editng feature as well which completes it.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

bit diificult to learn, bit fuzzy as it has lots of feature very versatile software. took a long time to learn this but at last i was satisfied with it. It has many tutorials on the youtube which helped me a lot as learning it from scratch without any help from seniors or others. but at last it is good and can compete with adobe premier pro as well.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

its good for making and merging videos, great for everything as far as my requirements as i am a daily user so i can say that it is all one needs.

  ### 32. A Hard Transition from Premiere, But Can Be Worth It

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher R. | E, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Well, it's free for the base version so you can try it out. And for most people, that by itself is enough to get by! But if you needed to make some high resolution festival content, the lifetime license is super affordable. It includes audio mastering, an excellent (cinema grade) color grading suite, special effects, and professional level non-linear editing all in one piece of software.

So three to four Adobe Creative Cloud programs built into one!

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

...but the software can be unstable and unusable on lower-end computers, it is quite different than the layout and basic workflow of Adobe's Creative Cloud software, and you have to export your content inside of Resolve (where Adobe CC has Media Encoder as an option, and can be run while Premiere or other programs are closed).

Really, the Media Encoder is the only thing I'm missing.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Grab a tutorial and take your time, especially if you're switching from Adobe Creative Cloud.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is saving me over $600 per year for the Adobe and related subscription fees for other software. Plus, I can use one program instead of having to bounce between three or four. Plus, now I don't need to pay for the software for people to help me with editing and content creation - they can get a copy of the software for free!

  ### 33. A full featured editor that is constantly improving

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2021

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The built-in color grade tools are industry standard

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The only issue I find with Resolve is that more people don't use it

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The amount of features and functionality you get for the price is almost unbeatable

  ### 34. Professional video software with multi-user collaboration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 11, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

This software allows the editing of video in high definition resolution such as 4K and 8K, it also has multiple very complete color design tools, or animation, it also allows us to add multiple effects already predefined by the program, in the same way we can do jobs in a group in collaboration with different assistants on the same project, which allows us to do really professional work in the shortest possible time but above all with a higher quality, in which we can add and modify different variants of the timeline as cuts, adjustments, presentations, animations, transitions and combinations, it also allows the realization and editing of immersive audio on the videos, other tools it has is that it allows exporting the final works in high quality encodings and compressions allowing an adequate acceleration of the system of graphics we work on

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

I would like the program to have even more options for audio editing, even with more effects and distortions.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

When we proceed to the final export of the project, we can lower the weight of the file a lot but not the quality if we properly configure the type of compression and encoding we want, this can be very helpful.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we work with this program, they give us projects that we have many times to carry out from one day to the next, and this is where we can get the most out of it since this software allows team collaboration on the same video, as well as a diagram and list of Predefined work we proceed to the edition, where each person in our work team is in charge of a specific project, many times someone is in charge of the imports, others of the design, someone else of coloring and another person is in charge of the effects, And this is how on the timeline we are making cuts, editions, combinations, and insertions of more files to finally proceed to render for different types of mobile devices where we want to present our videos

  ### 35. Wonderful NLE, best software for color grading period

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Landon H. | Film Maker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

If you're reading this review then you know that Resolve is the industry standard for color grading. However, the newer editing and VFX as well as sound features are second to none with regards to workflow. No more roundtripping to 5 different applications. The editing portion of DaVinci Resolve is extremely smooth, bug free and fully featured.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

I have yet to find any major flaws. I ditched Premiere Pro for Resolve and I'll never look back.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Ensure a high quality GPU and a fast computer. Resolve Studio will handle 8K video and beyond.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I just finished cutting a feature film in Resolve. I was able to do it much faster compared to doing it in premiere. Fast to sync audio, organize clips as well as timeline functions make it stand out from premiere.

  ### 38. Even the free version is Hollywood grade

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rakesh M. | Director Of Photography, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2016

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Black Magic has emphasized the editing and audio aspects of DaVinci Resolve in its latest versions, making it possible now to execute the entire post production process for a film in Resolve. Rather than being an NLE with audio editing functions, Resolve functions more like an operating system that hosts several applications. The audio workstation page has matured dramatically, and the new Cut page provides an alternate editing application designed to be quick and efficient, while the Fusion page provides a robust toolset for compositing. Support for the newest version of BorisFX' Moch Pro and Silhouette paint are welcome additions, bringing some exceptional paint tools to Resolve. There are some bugs in compatibility with those plugins still, but hopefully those will be address in short order. Translating edits from Resolve to other even higher end color grading applications like Scratch and Mistika works well.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Resolve still requires a fairly powerful computer to run optimally, but it's gotten a lot more efficient in recent years. That said, it does make good use of that hardware, making this less of a down side and more of a wash. The biggest con still is support for interchange with the industry standard for audio post production, ProTools. There are still some issues with this, and while the integrated Fairlight page is very good, most professional sound designers use ProTools, so that interchange support is still critical.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Resolve's roots as a color grading system optimized for a dedicated control surface shows in the unusual layout for its entire toolset. Rather than being geared around maximum flexibility, it's designed to be efficient and user friendly, so it seems quite odd at times for those coming from other applications such as Premiere. However, very few who take the time to learn to use Resolve return to their previous software of choice for a reason.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using Resolve as my primary non-linear editor and digital audio workstation. It's also an excellent conforming tool, making the process of getting an edit prepared for finishing in software like Mistika and Scratch easy also.

  ### 40. small review - DaVinci Resolve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Universal approach. Several years ago i was looking for simple and stabile solution for all my needs regarding film/video editing. Which includes solutions for still frame editing, simple import, simple export, recognition of different files and codecs, etc. Before DaVinci Resolve i was using several programs which are often not compatible with themselves, and usually you are forced to render on every step and re import and re export every time when you need to add something which is not possible (or not good enough) in your basic editing program. I thought that that kind of universal combine-harvester solution is not possible. But now, i am AVID (pun intended) user of Resolve :)

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Nothing. Everything important is really good. What i can say negative if almost everything is working fine? I will prefer of course, to have faster computer or to edit sending brain waves to editing program, but this is, at least for now not possible. Everything else works just fine, and as next versions are available, even small elements are corrected and improved.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

This is a must software solution for everyone who works in film/tv/media/broadcast business.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All problems connected with editing, rendering, color correction (grading), video files conversion, frame rate conversions etc. Basically everything a person connected with film/video/tv business needs.

  ### 41. How is this available to us mere mortals?!?

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James B. | Team Lead - Digital Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Wow, were to start? We frequently create short videos of teachers talking at the front of classrooms, feedback from learners or promotional stuff. In the past we've had to make do with whatever rubbish Microsoft supplied due to our corporate contracts. It was possible to pay for the Adobe range but, as this has moved to a pay per month option it simply din't make sense.

When we took on a larger project and had to produce something reasonably professional it was time to look at other solutions. We did look at a few products which are used in industry (around the £1000 price range) but found that these were much too heavy weight for what we wanted.
Then I remembered about Resolve. Wow, has it improved, it matches the ease of use of Adobe (I'd say it was actually easier to learn from basically a standing start) and the completeness of a professional package.

Whats great though is you don't need to understand every module, Davinci does a great job of hiding away stuff you don't need. I found it super quick to do basic edits but also very easy to dig in for more complicated stuff.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Well, it's not as popular as Premiere so you won't get as many plug ins etc.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, it's cheap and fast mainly. I've also found it pretty easy to add decent titles and play with audio filters to reduce noise. I'm by no means a pro user but I did complete a 6 minute edit in about an hour having never touched the software before. Very straightforward.

  ### 42. Easy to learn, Fast and Powerful Video Editor. 100% free!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Photography | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

I really enjoy using the Edit tab to cut a video down and see it sync up the timeline creating a seemless video.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

There is so much on screen I wish there was more customization in what you could hide and expand. I always want the video preview bigger and the timeline smaller for instance, but it's locked to a certain point.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

When looking for a video editing app consider Resolve before dropping cash on other solutions, you will be pleasantly surprised.
This app is used by industry pros which gave me even more confidence in trying it out.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's great having quick access to audio noise reduction effects, video transitions and layering on top of just editing a videos length or splicing videos together. It all works very seemlessly.

  ### 43. The best colorgrading app for filmmaker and film crew

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura R. | Filmmaker, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

It's the most developed and professional app for color-grading, however if you're a filmmaker or a professional editor for cinema. It's way better than colorgrading on Adobe Premiere Pro, because there's way more tools, settings and possibilities.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

It's kind of hard to use and understand, you have to take some lesson, or to watch some tuto on youtube to fully understand how it work. It's really not like Premiere Pro. Sometimes, for big projects like an advertising or for a music video, I work with a real editor/colorist on DaVinci Resolve because she knows it very well, even better than me, and I really need someone who's an expert on Davinci Resolve for this kind of huge project! But it's nice, because that mean it's a real professional app. Learn it, and your films will be really different and look way more professional !

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

If you want to upgrade your work as a filmmaker or film company, you better use DaVinci Resolve for a more professional and cinematic look for your video.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's the best colorgrading app, and it give to my films a real cinematic look if it's color graded properly!!!

  ### 44. Decent software, free to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas H. | Studio Artist, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Its extremely precise and usable software - you can get professional looking work quickly and with not much learning curve. Its free and that version contains most things you'll need. The paid version is better, but not so much better as to make the free version useless. The free version is generous and adequate.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Some of the nitty gritty can be occasionally clunky. I use dip-to-color fade often and sometimes, apparently out of the blue, it will refuse to add the fade to both clips i want to fade together and opt for one or neither. This isn't all the time and its fixable, but no user interface is without flaws!

I also did not care for the manner in which you have to get the free version. After downloading you have to create an account (fair enough) but then you are required to like the company on social media and make a post.... It is true enough that you can delete the post after and also that, as prices for very good software go, this is a fairly low one. But it might have been a little more tactful to have been asked rather than required, or even 'strongly encouraged!' Anyway, the software itself is worth this small effort - but it does not belong in the pros column!

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Get it! Its very well done.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software is my video editing solution. I'm trying to produce professional looking work with zero budget and i literally couldn't do it without this program. I'm glad its here.

  ### 45. Very good Premiere replacement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Giovanni M. | Responsabile web marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Best-in-class color correction utilities
Good editing features
Good Audio-Editing features
VFX features
Price

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

Not fully supported on Linux
Really resource heavy even for a basic editing
The interface is not customizable

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Very good software, all-in-one solution, very good for Content Marketing companies with very small team.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Da Vinci Resolve is a very top-noth all-in-one editing software.
I switched to Resolve from Premiere, and I'm very happy of it.
It's a very powerfull tool for editing (expecialy in the last version, with the "cut" page) and colo correction/grading, and I really appreciarte that blackmagic is trying to do a all-in-one solution.
But there are some problems that make it not so good as a all-in-one:
the audio support for some professional audio interface is not so good (I have an old firewire audio-card, fully supported on Windows, but not supported so weel on Da Vinci).
The "edit" and the new "cut" pages are great but i would prefer to have only one page, with the possibility to choose the layot, in order to not to make a mess in the interface.
The interface is good and fashion to look.. but I really would prefer a customizabile one, like Premiere's one (I have a dual monitor with an ultrawide monitor, and I want to be able to customize the interface as I want).
The fairlight page is very good and powerfull, but the interface is very messy... the way the sotware let you to edit the audio (for example work on a VST) is graphically too comicated; I Would prefer a more classic style, like Cubase, or Reaper.
The performance are very good, all the software is really faster then premiere on the same PC, and the GPU accelleration is very excellent.
It permit you to work on a entire project without problems, when Premiere crashes.

The software is very professionist-oriented, and it's very stable, but I would like a bit more personalizzation.

I would like also a sort of "dynamic link" with a graphic software such as Photoshop or Affinity Photo or Designer.

The setup is not really simple, you have to manually set-up the color space, the nits of your monitor ecc... It's not so good if you came from Premiere or Final cut

  ### 46. Small learning curve, but great benefits

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas S. | Accounts Payable Specialist (Temp), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

Once you understand the basic tools (trimming, lighting, speed, frame positioning, etc) this can be a very useful tool for any video editing project you may undertake

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

While the capabilities of the software are vast, learning how to use it is not very intuitive. This is not a software for beginners. YouTube is your best learning resource, which has it's pros and cons

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

The capabilities of this software are vast. Use it if you are serious about making a quality product for yourself or your organization. It will take time to learn, but it is well worth the effort

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to produce great videos with a professional editing aesthetic without having any prior training in the field of video editing. If you dive in head first with an open mind to learning something new, you can develop a valuable skillset for yourself that can benefit you both professionally and personally

  ### 47. Davinci Resolve is the best editing platform!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2020

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

I’ve used two of the other popular editing platforms for my video production company and I can easily say Davinci Resolve is by far the best! The color grading side of this platform is so powerful. I can get the look and feel I want way faster than when using the other editing platforms.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

I’ve had a few big crashes while working on a project.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

Watch a lot of YouTube videos on how to use the software. You won’t regret it!

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I shoot mainly in ProRes and this software blazes through that footage which makes my editing workflow way more efficient!

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

a software with impressive qualities to be free. The best software in the world for professional color correction

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

has a very steep learning curve. It is not premiere, it takes time to be able to manage all its features well. If you don't feel like studying it, look elsewhere

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

  ### 49. Impressive Features For Free. A Comprehensive Post Production Package

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason B. | Director of Customer Engagement, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2019

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

DaVinci Resolve is the most comprehensive video post-production app available. I love how it integrates a terrific editor, compositing and effects package, and audio editor along with its industry-leading color correction tool. I've worked with a lot of other post-production suites, and the improvements made in the last few versions of Resolve easily match other top solutions. Best of all, the free version offers most of the functionality of the paid version, so you can try it out for yourself. Also, I appreciate that the pricing is not a subscription-based model.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

The interface is pretty packed. This is a professional suite, so amateur users or people who want to make quick videos may be better served by something simpler.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

It's a very comprehensive product but it has a steep learning curve, especially if you don't have a lot of experience with other professional non-linear editing software. Familiarize yourself with online Resolve communities for some great training materials.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a solution to create marketing videos, and having such a well-integrated suite for a low price has been great. I could always do small spot work with iMovie, but I hit the ceiling of what that program was capable of pretty quickly. Now I can create professional looking videos with great sound.

  ### 50. Amazing, but not my main software

**What do you like best about DaVinci Resolve?**

The UI and the colour grading tools in DaVinci Resolve are second to none to a degree, while I do use premiere pro over Resolve, I cannot fault the UI of resolve, its a clean simple to understand UI (If you have used professional video editing software before) I had no trouble adding this to the list of softwares I used to create video content, and the colour grading tools are amazing, I prefer to use this over Lumetri within Premiere Pro and After Effects, cannot put my finger on why, but I always manage to get better results from RAW footage when using Resolve, this might be a backend thing, but if you have any RAW footage and your moving onto the grading stage of post production I would highly reccomend Resolve over everything that I have used in the past.

**What do you dislike about DaVinci Resolve?**

There isnt too much to dislike, I mention how this isnt my main editing software and that isnt to the fault of Resolve, its mainly down to adobe's dominance of the industry, they have alot of software that I use, after effects, photoshop, illustrator, premiere pro, I use premiere over resolve not because premiere is better, but simply because alot of the time it's just easier to remain in the adobe eco space, when dealing with multiple projects at a time, while I said resolve does for some reason allow me to have more polished grades, the difference isnt striking, so alot of the time I just take the hit on a slightly lesser polished grade for the sake of remaining on time. Again I dont have issues with resolve, but more so the position its in. This position has caused me to essentially abandon the software as it doesnt fill enough of a gap for me to warrant the cosistent use of it, I used the software for around 2 months and I admit it was great, but I have yet to install it on my new PC since that one time.

**Recommendations to others considering DaVinci Resolve:**

If you can spare the time to swap inbetween different eco systems of softwares within post production then Resolve is an amazing software for you, its consistency with colour grading is easily the biggest sell for me, but again I do remain hesistant to re-install the software and move from adobe to resolve constantly for the sake of videos.

**What problems is DaVinci Resolve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grading long form content that I have to remain on for a while I do use this for grading, as I find it much easier to create a consistent grade along long form content over other softwares, but these projects are so few and far between that I simply do not call myself a user and dont even bother installing it on my devices anymore.
