Vouch is an email verification API that tells you whether an email address will actually receive mail before you send to it. One authenticated GET request checks the address against the recipient's live mail server and returns a clear verdict, a 0–100 quality score and a full per-check breakdown, usually in about a second. Vouch never sends an email to verify one. Bounced emails cost more than a lost message. High bounce rates damage your sender reputation, push your campaigns into spam folders and can get your sending account throttled or suspended. Fake signups, mistyped addresses and throwaway inboxes also pollute your CRM and skew your metrics. Vouch stops bad addresses at the door: in your signup form, in your CRM import, or across an entire list before a campaign goes out. HOW VOUCH VERIFIES AN ADDRESS Every check runs the same five-stage pipeline: 1. Syntax – An RFC-grade parse with international (IDN) domain normalization. Malformed input stops here, before any network call is made. 2. MX lookup – The domain's mail servers are resolved, cached and tried in priority order. A domain with no mail servers is undeliverable. 3. Live SMTP probe – Vouch opens a real SMTP conversation with the recipient's mail server (EHLO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO), the same step a real send uses to learn whether a mailbox exists. It quits before any message content is transmitted, so no email is ever delivered. 4. Catch-all detection – On the same connection, Vouch asks about a random, almost-certainly-nonexistent mailbox. If the server accepts that too, the domain accepts everything, and the address is flagged as risky instead of being falsely reported as deliverable. 5. Verdict – All signals map through one deterministic table to a status, a reason code and a score. The same signals always produce the same answer. FOUR VERDICTS YOU CAN BRANCH ON • Deliverable – The mailbox was confirmed over SMTP. Safe to send. • Risky – The server accepts mail, but with a caveat: a catch-all domain, a role account or greylisting. • Undeliverable – Bad syntax, no mail servers, or the mailbox was rejected. Don't send. • Unknown – A timeout or connection problem on the receiving side. Retry later rather than guess. Each result also carries a machine-readable reason code, so your code can handle "mailbox rejected" differently from "domain has no mail servers" without parsing text. QUALITY FLAGS AND TYPO RESCUE On top of the verdict, every result includes: • Disposable detection – Flags throwaway and temporary inbox providers, so trial abuse and fake signups don't get through. Disposable addresses are caught early, without a mail server probe. • Role-account detection – Flags shared addresses such as info@, sales@ or support@, which tend to have lower engagement and higher complaint rates. • Free-provider detection – Tells you whether an address belongs to a consumer mailbox provider or a company domain, which is useful for B2B lead qualification. • Did-you-mean suggestions – Catches common domain typos and suggests the correction (for example gamil.com → gmail.com), so you can prompt the user to fix it instead of losing the signup. • Per-step receipts – The response shows what each check found, including which mail server answered, so you can see why an address got its verdict instead of trusting a black box. BUILT FOR DEVELOPERS Vouch is API-first and easy to drop into any stack: • A single endpoint: GET /v1/verify?email=… with a Bearer API key. • One clean JSON object per address: email, user, domain, status, reason, score, checks, flags, didYouMean, mxHost and meta. • Full API documentation and an OpenAPI 3.1 specification, so you can generate a client in your language of choice. • Fast enough for real-time use in signup and checkout forms. Mail server lookups are cached, and the probe gives up quickly on unresponsive servers instead of hanging your form. • Clear error handling: an empty balance returns HTTP 402, rate limits return 429 with a Retry-After header, and every successful response includes your remaining credit balance in a header. • A credits endpoint lets you check your balance before starting a large job. BULK LIST VERIFICATION Clean an entire list in one go, from the web dashboard or through the API: • Upload a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file. Vouch scans every cell, so you don't have to reformat your export or point it at the right column. • Duplicate addresses are removed before verification. You get an intake report right away (addresses found, duplicates removed, unique addresses), and you only pay for unique addresses. • Addresses are verified in parallel as a background job, while each receiving mail server is still handled politely to protect accuracy. • Track progress live, then download a results CSV with the verdict, reason, score and every quality flag for each address. FREE LIST HEALTH CHECK Not sure whether your list needs cleaning? Run a free health check on up to 50,000 addresses. It costs no credits and returns an aggregate report: how many addresses have bad syntax, use disposable domains, have no mail servers, or are role accounts. That shows you how much of your list is at risk before you spend anything on full verification. WORKS WITH AI ASSISTANTS (MCP) Vouch ships an official Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, published on npm as @datapad-nl/vouch-mcp. Add it to Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Cline or any other MCP client, and your AI assistant gets a verify\_email tool backed by the same API. Ask it to check a lead's address or clean a contact list, and it gets the same verdict your code would. The server runs locally, and your API key is only ever sent to the Vouch API over HTTPS. TRY IT WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT The live demo on vouch.fast runs the exact same pipeline as the API (live MX lookup, live SMTP check, catch-all probe) against any address you type, with no sign-up needed. The address you enter is not stored. SIMPLE, PREPAID PRICING • Free tier: every new account starts with 250 free credits. No credit card required. • One credit verifies one address, whatever the verdict. Errors on Vouch's side are never charged. • Pay-as-you-go credit packs start at 2,500 credits for €15. Volume pricing drops from €0.006 to €0.003 per verification at one million credits. • Credits never expire. No subscription, no monthly minimum, no seats. • Checkout is handled securely by Stripe. Custom volume pricing is available on request. WHO USES VOUCH • SaaS and product teams validating signups in real time to block fake, mistyped and disposable addresses. • Marketers and email senders cleaning lists before campaigns to keep bounce rates low and sender reputation high. • Sales and growth teams verifying leads and enriched contact data before outreach. • Developers and agencies building verification into CRMs, forms, data pipelines and AI agents. WHY VOUCH • Evidence, not guesses: a regex only proves an address is well-formed, and static blocklists go stale. Vouch asks the live mail server whether the mailbox exists. • Honest results: catch-all domains are flagged as risky instead of inflating your "valid" count, and server trouble returns "unknown" instead of a confident wrong answer. • Transparent: every verdict comes with its reason code and per-check details. • No lock-in: prepaid credits that never expire, a free tier to start, and a standard REST API with an OpenAPI spec. Vouch is built and operated by Datapad B.V. Get started with 250 free credits at https://vouch.fast, read the API docs at https://vouch.fast/docs, or contact us at hello@datapad.nl.
