Great help for an inexperienced DPO **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Jakob J. | Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2025 **What do you like best about DataGuard?** To me, the main value I got out of DataGuard was in the professional services and access to a data protection lawyer whom could ease my way into the role of DPO and becoming acquainted with data protection legislation. As for the platform, it was good to have a central platform where everything data protection is supposed to go, with workflows around updating the documentation of processing activities, letting the organization take courses and fill in assessments, as well as a place to document incidents. **What do you dislike about DataGuard?** The platform can be a bit hard to navigate, especially when it comes to how it all fits together. It feels as if you fill in enough information into assessments and documentations to get an overview, but there isn't really that many features to e.g. trace where data comes from and where it goes in the end. Some of the courses could be a bit more polished, as the questions were often ambiguously worded so that even when you knew the answer, you still had to guess the intent behind the questions. **What problems is DataGuard solving and how is that benefiting you?** Organizing data protection work ### 2. The implementation and integration of the DataGuard platform was really easy and fast and now, we are using the platform daily which is a great success! Our consultant is very knowledgeable, responsive, and proactive in guiding us through complex compliance landscapes like GDPR, the EU AI Act and other frameworks. **What do you dislike about DataGuard?** Limited document editability of the records of processing activities (PDF-only format) **What problems is DataGuard solving and how is that benefiting you?** With DataGuard, we comply with our accountability obligations under the GDPR. The DataGuard Platform is our single source of truth and supports all processes with relevant guidelines, resources, and templates. ### 3. Our internal auditor, Yazid, was also understanding of our organisation's context and what security means for us, meaning that he was able to provide actionable advice on next steps **What do you dislike about DataGuard?** Some of the templated documents are overly complex, and some of the translations need tweaking, or make the document difficult to use particularly in Excel **What problems is DataGuard solving and how is that benefiting you?** Implementing ISO 27001 from scratch, where no colleagues have experience previously implementing ISO 27001 ### 4. For organisations, implementing the solution would be seamless and offers a lot of features that would be ideal for those just starting with their privacy management programme. **What do you dislike about DataGuard?** There are some features that I would like to see. It appears through use that even some basic features, such as metric reporting, appear to be incomplete - although the development teams are receptive of feedback and have a roadmap of activities to address the gaps. **What problems is DataGuard solving and how is that benefiting you?** DPOrganizer acts as our tool for managing our privacy management programme. this is great as it helps to keep track of the organisations progress towards compliance frameworks, is auditable for senior managers and stakeholders and provides additional advice and guidance on how to achieve greater compliance. As a global organisation, the rulefinder feature is brilliant as it allows us to understand the global data protection landscape and understand gaps and similarities within different countries data protection regimes. ### 5.
