To get Datagrail operating at it's full potential, it does require a large lift from an engineering or technical team.

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

My role in setup was clear every step of the way. I wasn't our company's primary driver, but I had a few workstreams to handle with Thomas and the team and it was always easy to understand where we stood and what needed to be done.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I think a further expanded scope of functionalities could help us consolidate our data management and security needs in one place. For example, we're interested in a data vendor vetting functionality that's on the market with other providers who offer similar services to DataGrail, but that I'm not sure DataGrail provides.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our enterprise-level management of data subject requests was a mess, and created a lot of inefficiencies and slow cross-practices between teams. DataGrail helps us automate those, which ensures consistency and frees us up to work on other things.

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The DataGrail team has been a close partner all the way from onboarding through to deployment and ongoing optimization. DataGrail is actively engaged, responsive and helpful. The tool itself is also highly intuitive, and gives us a high level of confidence in the future-proofing of our compliance with data privacy laws. Pricing was also very reasonable

Would highly recommend DataGrail for any organization that is looking to ensure their compliance with a rapidly-changing landscape of privacy and data regulations.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

One minor nitpick is that we wanted to add a custom API connector that we could use to interface with our internal systems, but that was only available through a set of features that was expensive and unnecessary for our use case. But it was easy to build a workaround for this.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have the internal expertise or resources to keep up with the rapidly changing landscape of data/privacy regulations. DataGrail allows us to focus on other things.

Datagrail is intuitive, easy to use, and the implementation is straight forward.  The integrations for app and data discovery work well. The process for customers to use the product is straight forward. Finally, the team that helped us on-board the product was amazing. I started half way through the project and they took the time to bring me up-to-speed and work through any questions I had.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I wish Datagrail could host our DPA and Privacy policy and have direct links for customers into the product.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We receive a large number of requests to have data removed from our systems. This would normally be a manual process likely requiring an additional FTE. Datagrail is solving this by automating the data remove process, and others, in a consistent manner.

I really have admired that the DataGrail team is always available to answer our questions and assist us when problems arise. They are a very involved vendor and have been so great to work with. We switched from another vendor and the process has been involved and the team is always there to assist us. The product is up and coming and still has improvements coming.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The project has been very complicated. Might be our internal processes, but it hasn't been completely seamless to transition from our previous vendor. The product is new, so transitioning when we had a specific process, to something that isn't the same level has been a challenge we have had to figure out. We are still working on implementing to the level that we want/features we want.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps us with data mapping, data subject requests, and consent management. This will help us with more impactufl, automated data management. It will provide additional visibility into our environment and eventually alleviate more manual work that our users currently have to perform.

It's great to have a data mapping tool to centralize all of our systems when managing consent. All of the integrations had documentation that was easy to follow, making implementation very straightforward.

Not all integrations have API capabilities, so there is still some manual work, but Datagrail has been happy to hear our feedback / suggestions on these systems and encourages it!

Ensuring we are approriately handling data deletion requests by centralizing our systems into one platform and showing us where any gaps in our processes exist.

DG takes all the guesswork out of which privacy policy to use. 
DG's support team has been able to help us with all our odd ball situations and requests. Some of our issues have taken a while to sort out, but they are now resolved and running smoothly.

Not all of our systems are API compliant, so there are a couple of manual steps to complete a request.

What I like about Datagrail is the user experience, the platform is really easy to navigate.  Most importantly, when you have a question or concern the DataGrail team will send you a comprehensive response in a timely manner.

One item that I dislike is that currently they use a third party for their consent module.

DataGrail is helping me automate the Data Subject Access Request process which and create a datamap. This will singificantly cut time that internal teams are spending on processing DSAR request.

Great support from Engineering and Customer Support when needed. The system is automated which makes ease of tracking and minimises admin for ROPAS and DSAR.

Some API errors have been encountered. Not all systems have API configured.

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The platform is easy to use and intuitive. The ease of integration and the features are exactly what we were looking for (the Live Data Map is great!) And the team at DataGrail is fantastic! Everyone – from the community (Privacy Basecamp) to the account executives and implementation teams to the leadership – is knowledgeable, helpful, and available. I can honestly say that I have never encountered another service provider organization that is as focused on its customers as much (and maybe even more) as it is on its product. They are hands-on through implementation to ensure that everyone involved understands their role during the process and the platform. They make a concentrated effort to ensure that their customers truly get value out of their product, by creating a welcoming environment that thrives on feedback from their customers. I highly recommend!

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The only "downside" to using DataGrail would be the iinability to bulk import system owners for the Live Data Map.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the Live Data Map and being able to detect new systems is going to be a game changer! Addtionally, the ease of integration will help us to transition from a mostly manual DRS process to automatic.

DataGrail is effectively solving our problem of accessing and deleting data subject requests from customers on a frequent basis. Its excellent integration with third parties makes managing these requests much easier.

Easy to set up integrations with many of our key vendor systems. No code-needed. Additionally, DG includes lots of useful e-mail templates out-of-the-box. Great support!

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

A lot of variability in how integrations work, and which integrations support which features (e.g., some only support access OR deletion, not both). Can't backdate requests when working through a backlog.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Responding to and processing Data Subject Requests - DataGrail is automating a portion of the process and helping us interface with third-party systems and track their response.
Documenting and updating our Data Map - DataGrail is helping us document personal information in various internal and third-party systems.

Their team is very responsive and communicative.  My team assists clients with implementing privacy technology and working with DataGrail on our first client together was a very positive experience.  We were able to transition this client to their platform from another one in 4-6 weeks due to a client deadline by working with their team closely on the plan and priorities.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I am still new to their platform, so it has been a little challenging getting up to speed on how it works and how it compares with other privacy technology platforms with which I have more experience.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a consulting partner, we implement mutiple privacy technology platforms.  DataGrail has had success with replacing a popular incumbent plaform which some clients no longer want to use, so our relationship with them has been helpful for such clients.  We have also found them to be a good partner and easier to work with than some other technology vendors.

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I was incredibly anxious about ensuring our company was compliant with changing California privacy regulations -- and overwhelmed at the thought of creating, organizing, and updating a massive spreadsheet. But our partnership with DataGrail, and specifically the support from Thomas and Patrick through our data mapping exercise, has been incredible! They have been quick to answer questions, patient to walk through things slowly (and more than once), and understanding of the nuances of the changing data privacy landscape.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

So far, I really haven't identified anything about DataGrail that I dislike. I appreciate how the platform is evolving and there is an identifed roadmap to continue to expand and improve the experience and product offering.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an HR professional, I am using DataGrail to help us with our employee data mapping exercise. We began this project using a spreadsheet and Google, and with DataGrail's technology and supportive team, I feel so much more confident that we are completing it accurately and efficiently.

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

I would have to say the best thing about DataGrail is their incredible team! Our Engagement Manager, Catherine Miranda, was there every step of the way, and alongside her was Bryan Pressley, our Customer Success Manager. They were both able to answer any and all of our questions as they would come up. The DataGrail product is great and is definitely helping solve for our companies Privacy Program needs. The Live Data Map is going to be a wonderful tool for us to be able to get a complete blueprint of our data systems and PII. Throughout our implementation Catherine and Bryan asked for our input on the product and potential features we wish to see, it was great to know that our additional needs and wishes with the product are being taken into consideration.

I do not have any dislikes to call out for DataGrail

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DataGrail is allowing us to establish a process for receiving and responding to consumer data requests quicker and more efficiently. DataGrail automates the validation of data requests, and tracks every step of the data request, while notifying the internal team as well as the consumer of the progress. This overall saves our team time, and time is so valuable!

Utilizing DataGrail's connectors to link your products is simple and straight forward utilizing their detailed documentation on each of the connectors.  Provided you have the Administor resources for your various products you need to connect on the project, you can have your connections set up very quickly.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

Adding people to the tool is a bit goofy as they have to try and connect and fail before you add them to the tool to assist with connectors.  Once you are used to that process, it isn't really a big deal.  I believe there is a fix for this coming soon :)

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Meeting the various state by state, as well as international, GDPR requirements.  It will assist with Data Deletion requests as well as assisting in the discovery across our products what we PII information we have for individuals requesting their data.

DataGrail's onboarding process is fantastic. This is the most hands-of any software that I've purchased before. They provide full project management support during the onboarding process, and are extremely responsive to any questions.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I wish there was a bit more customization in terms of the customer-facing aspects of the product, for instance the look and feel of the intake form.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We aren't fully implemented yet, but when we are, DataGrail will significantly speed up our process and decrease our costs for managing DSARs. The data mapping, once complete, will also ensure that we have full visibility into where our customer data lies. We operate in a highly regulated industry, so it's critical that we get this stuff right, and DataGrail will ensure that we are able to do so.

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The main reason we chose Datagrail is its ease of use and the automation of DSAR.  While we are still in the process of implementation, the DataGrail platform seems to be user friendly and easy to nagivate.   Throughout the implementation process, the Sr. Engagement Manager, Katie A., from Datagrail has been very helpful and resourceful in helping us find ways to integrate apps that fit within our environment.  Our weekly meetings have also been very productive as we move forward with the implementation process.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

We are still in the implementation stage, but I think companies would benefit from having the ability to configure system reports in bulk, as this could help expedite the set up process when you have large volume of apps to configure.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automating DSAR and generating data map to provide visibility to our internal team on data flow.

DataGrail's customler service experience has been a sheer pleasure. Every member of the team was very responsive and if someone did not have an immediate answer, they consulted the team member who did and provided an answer as soon as possible. I never had to chase for an answer or follow-up!

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

I have not worked with the platform long enough to have any dislikes but I cannot say enough good things about the teams behind the platform.

DataGrail has streamlined our front end DSAR process by providing automatic templates and webforms to make data subject requests uniform.

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

The best part of DataGrail is the team. From our customer success manager, Patrick, to the support team, we always feel supported. Whenever we reach out for assistance, we usually get a response within a few hours! Our privacy program is also relatively new, and our privacy team consists of two people! As you can imagine, we need to use our time and products efficiently. DataGrail has been integral to us, especially for privacy requests. We have set up work flows in DataGrail, so I only need to review the information DataGrail found and then complete the request. The Live Data Mapping is excellent because you can either manually add to your DataGrail inventory or connect various SAML/SSO tools that DataGrail will use to automatically detect new systems within the Live Data Map for you. I have done data mapping manually, where I have had to meet with stakeholders to determine which vendors were being used. With DataGrail, we got a great start on which vendors are being used and did not have to set up 1000 meetings. 

DataGrail is constantly making updates to ensure they are assisting their customers in complying with the current and new privacy law regulations. They welcome and encourage customers' feedback and want to keep improving their products to meet our needs.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The Dashboard could use some work to be more useful, but they are working on it and have already started changing it based on customer feedback!

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Previously, we manually processed data subject requests and did not have any data mapping completed. We used DataGrail for both of these issues

**What do you like best about DataGrail?**

DataGrail is really focused on solving the data subject access request (DSAR) challenge and consent management solutions. For most of the other vendors we considered, the DSAR service was just part of a large suite of solutions, and consequently, those people spent more time pitching us on the upsell to the kitchen sink. DataGrail stayed focused on what we came to them for, they were super responsive during the sales process (surprisingly some vendors took weeks to get us proposals), onboarding was smooth and the minimal support we needed has been delivered efficiently and expertly. And the price was extremely competitive. On the whole, there's really nothing lacking about the product or the purchase process. We're very pleased to be able to have the solution up and running and be able to confidently say we have this matter well in hand.

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

As with many SaaS tools, there are minor annoyances in the UI, or small spots in the workflow that could be improved. The team has happily accepted our feedback, provided good suggestions on workarounds, etc. But really these are so minor I'm stretching to find something worth complaining about.

**What problems is DataGrail solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a clean and simple solution for DSARs, one that was light on implementation effort on our side and needed to be cost-effective. We got exactly the features we needed, we got it well within our budget, and we got a solution that created no pain for implementation.

The DataGrail interface is easy to use and makes privacy compliance as simple as possible. DSARs were an intimidating prospect but now that they're operationalized in the platform, we feel well positioned to respond to them appropriately. We've also been extremely pleased with the level of support we receive - from weekly standups to internal trainings and working sessions, Patrick is a godsend!

**What do you dislike about DataGrail?**

The only downside is that I wish we had implemented it earlier - it would be easier to track things as they deprecate if we had identified all systems at the outset. It would also be great if it could automatically clear systems/indicate systems that are no longer detected.

DataGrail is helping us manage our obligations under the GDPR by operationalizing our DSAR request procedures and facilitating live data mapping for us. With a lean privacy team, this has helped immensely.

Integrating DataGrail into each system in our enterprise eco-system has required setting up sandboxes to verify DG's behavior is as desired, which has consumed more corporate resources than we initially expected.

DataGrail automates the validation of data subject requests, and tracks communications, progress, and deadlines.   Using message templates, we can quickly process requests consistently.

At the moment I can't say I dislike anything about DataGrail so far since it's so early in the process. I think onboarding could have been faster, but I think the once-a-week cadence is likely appropriate for most organizations.

Also, I wish that the internal system information was updating automatically, so we wouldn't have to check manually if the customer still has an active subscription.

For someone without a technical background, it was somewhat difficult to fully understand all of DataGrail's capabilities and functionalities. Onboarding and getting the system set up was also a somewhat complicated process. However, DataGrail's excellent support team was with us every step of the way, providing us with information, responding to all our questions, and pointing us to good resources and materials to better understand our company's privacy compliance needs. The support really made a difference, and helped us fully utilize the product.

The process at times felt a bit disjointed like I was going into the next step without all the information. I think there may be too many assumptions made about the customer's background understanding of how the data request process works using DataGrail. More specifically, there was some confusion about what we must do ourselves and what DataGrail will take care of for us.

They had existing integrations with MOST of the big ecomm systems already.
It was easy to get it up and running very quickly.
For those that we did not have, we were able to make a request to have the team help add with a direct contact or put in a request for a longer term API connection.

GREAT - They do a FULL Sweep of all your systems, so we feel confident that nothing was missed.
However, non-relevant or important items were also pulled in such as privacy systems for a DoorDash account or small systems that were used in a trial, etc.
So we also spent time sifting through non-relevant systems.

Making privacy compliance digestible.
We would have an exorbitant amount of time and internal resources to internally map and bring together a strategy regarding pop-up and policies.
