Although I'm not a course designer, I appreciate the Lumi AI tools, which are a huge time saver. With the Lumi Pro suite in our Brightspace site, I'm able to build content, like modules, quizzes, and assignments, using external files much faster. The Lumi Quizzes can automatically generate banks of quiz questions, which saves a lot of time. Also, Lumi Feedback ensures students receive curated feedback on their submissions based on instructor-provided rubrics faster than they normally would. I'm also grateful for D2L's implementation team, who, despite having many meetings, ensures that our institution's Brightspace team is totally aligned and clear on all things related to its implementation. And I appreciate that D2L listens to their customers and is providing a much-needed makeover to the Learning Object Repository system. **What do you dislike about D2L Brightspace?** There are some admin features where certain things are located among their 'admin tools' that are sometimes not really intuitive. Either where they're located or how you manage them. I can easily configure the system, set up course templates, create organizational structures that make sense for my institution, support easy implementation of IPSIS and other systems used for enrollment and course scheduling. Plus, the accessibility of D2L is top-notch, and support a lot of third-party add-ons that benefit all students/users in terms of being accessible and universally designed. I also feel that the UI of D2L is fantastic from a student or faculty perspective. While each tool is separate, they all link together easily and are fun to use. D2L can easily be integrated with many SSO options, and supports OAuth 2.0 and other industry standards. I think it is a great product, and should be considered for any institution's LMS needs. **What do you dislike about D2L Brightspace?** In the past D2L has not been the best at addressing some of the suggested improvements and enhancements that its users have wanted. To the extent that some users joke their Product Idea Exchange (PIE) forum, was a place where ideas went to die. Or they said, "send that idea to the PIE in the sky, where it won't fly". Lately though, they have been making vast improvements in the LMS in ways that address several issues and suggestions that have been brought up over the years. Such as the print quiz feature (August 2025 update), that even accounts for creating randomized question sets in the tests, and allowing you to create multiple versions. We only wanted the ability to print quiz questions, and D2L decided to give us that and some amazing features as well. D2L does try to innovate, which is great, however sometimes their endeavors at innovation tend to be half-baked and can be underwhelming. I am mainly referring to some of their side projects or extra packages, not the base LMS itself. But, that is something they have been working on as well. **What problems is D2L Brightspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Online learning for a higher education institution. ### 9. The interface is open and there's decent context sensible help. Good community for getting help and giving input. I work with it daily both as an instructor and developer and both naitively and with integrated Articulate content. I've worked with many LMS products, in multiple capacities, since 1990s and like Brightspace best. My roles include course developer, instructor, course management coordinator and LMS migration role as functional project manager for SFU's move from WebCT to Canvas. NOTE: the review form doesn't allow for NA or "don't know" in the feature ranking section. So my rankings for some of those categories are 80% guess. Frustrating one can't pass on the things one isn't well versed in. **What do you dislike about D2L Brightspace?** Administration documentation can be hard to find. The community is helpful but searchable docs that understand synonyms or situations / goals would be welcome. Data hub progress is appreciated. Always something one wants that isn't easy to get out of existng choices. **What problems is D2L Brightspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our unit at UNBC hosts self-paced courses using rapid development software for content as well as shells for supporting academic courses using native Brightspace tools. Integration with commercial payment software is a big plus for the continuing studies courses but we can also integrate with student and employee accounts for the organization. I really like how easy it is to navigate the interface. As a previous user of other LMS, I find Brightspace's design very pretty and intuitive. I had no trouble designing my class and I could (only with the help of tutorials) set up dates, attendance lists, assignments, evaluations, and more. Also, I love the way everyone at support service keeps in touch with us, letting us know the status of our cases. They, very kindly, make sure the problem is solved. By the way, I find the ASC Support Portal very easy to use to create a case and keep track of the process too. **What do you dislike about D2L Brightspace?** Something that can improve about Brightspace, I think, is the integration of certain encrypted content (forms, videos, or presentations) from other pages, which —sometimes— are not compatible. I'm also in the D2L Accessibility User group, and it's really great to learn a variety of things you can do within Brightspace. It would be great to be a Brightspace Certified ID as an option in the future. **What problems is D2L Brightspace solving and how is that benefiting you?** I don't really see any "problems" but Brightspace is consistently working to make additions and upgrades to stay best in class. They offer a big community to share with a large knowledge bank respository, as well. I benefit because I want to stay current with trends and how to maximize use at our organization. ### 19.
